David Higgins is from Northport Washington, a town with a population of 300 in
the North East corner of Washington State. He graduated with 14 seniors in 2012,
receiving all but one scholarship Northport high school offers for higher education. After
graduation, David spent 5 weeks traveling overseas in Denmark, Sweden, and
Germany in an attempt to be exposed, and understand European culture. Upon
returning, he then started at Central Washington University. During his first two years at
CWU, David saw the need and opportunity for a cellphone repair service in Ellensburg.
He then proceeded to start Higgins Screen Repair in 2014 where he currently fixes
cellphone screens in addition to being a College of Business Ambassador.
During the summer of 2015, David completed a bicycle trip across America to
bring awareness to child sexual abuse prevention. David’s trip began in Washington
State and concluded in Washington D.C. During his journey, he collaborated with
Children Advocacy Centers and made stops at these centers, 17 in total, brining
encouragement to the employees working at Advocacy Centers and in direct contact
with victims of sexual abuse. In short, David was able to bring awareness of Children
Advocacy Centers through meeting with Washington State representatives in
Washington D.C. to communicate the role and value of Children Advocacy Centers.
2. Along with this, David was also able to raise financial support, specifically dedicated
towards sexual abuse prevention education in Stevens County.
He is currently a successful student of the College of Business and on his way to
receiving a Business Degree with a specialization in Supply Chain Management, where
he is currently working on procuring an internship for the summer of 2016 and is
expecting to graduate June 2017.
