It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Oana Nae. Oana worked at CIEE during the
summer of 2016 as seasonal staff member. Council on International Educational Exchange, a non-profit
organization based in Portland, Maine USA, is the world leader in international education and exchange.
During her time here, Oana was responsible for ensuring that our programs complied with our internal
policies as well as within US Federal, State, and local laws. She supported program participants, coaching
them on various issues like homesickness, to interpersonal conflicts, to employment issues. She regularly
played the role of a mediator during these conflicts which included her conducting needs assessments with
internal and external stakeholders. Due to the number of programs that CIEE offers, Oana interacted with
community members, international and US businesses, schools, and participants on a regular basis.
Oana was trained to work with multiple database systems in order to track participant issues and ensure
follow-up has been properly conducted. Her responsibilities also included de-escalating frustrated callers and
providing translation services for participants as needed. Staff are required to learn and master several
program rules and policies in a short period of time, and Oana excelled in doing so.
