1. Deborah Speed
Economic and Public Policy Coordinator, Zions Bank
Deborah is the Marketing Coordinator for Economics and Public Policy at Zions Bank. In her
role, she supports the bank’s Senior Economist through researching and reporting on local and
national trends that affect the economy and influence the decisions of policy makers.
In addition to her work in economics and public policy, Deborah also serves as a Committee
Advisor with the Zions Bank Women’s Business Forum. As part of the bank’s Diversity
Initiative, the WBF supports the growth and well-being of women by providing encouragement
through developmental and sponsoring opportunities. Specifically, Deborah is responsible for
the oversight and implementation of the forum’s college outreach program, which targets various
women’s groups in colleges and universities throughout Utah and Idaho in an effort to promote
and support women entering the workforce.
Deborah also serves as Chair for the University of Utah Women’s Resource Center Community
Advisory Board. The Women’s Resource Center serves as the central resource for educational
and support services for women at the University, and facilitates choices and changes though
programs, counseling, and training grounded in a commitment to advance social justice and
equality. Deborah leads the Advisory Board in supporting the WRC mission through
fundraising, marketing, and assisting initiative implementation.
Despite earning a B.A. in Psychology, Deborah has spent much of her career in finance, which
began with her position as Assistant Finance Officer at Oxford University Development North
America in New York City. During her time with Oxford, she was responsible for the collection
and distribution of all donations made to the university’s 38 colleges gifted through North
American channels.
Upon completion of her stint in New York, Deborah and her husband, Paul, moved to Santa
Barbara, California to start a small business as well as a family. After taking time off work to
raise her children, she returned to her Utah roots where she accepted her position with Zions
Bank. Deborah now resides in Draper, Utah with her husband and kids, where she serves as the
Vice-Chair for her precinct as well as a county delegate. Of her many roles in life, she is most
proud to play the role of “mom” to her four children.
