Social Differences Between The USAd Sweden
Where you live plays a major role in your political, economic, and social life. It also impacts how
you are politically represented causing individuals all over the world to form different views and
opinions. As a citizen of the United States my views maybe completely different than someone's
who lives in Sweden. These differences can have various positive or negative effects on life. So I am
going to compare how my life would differ politically, economically, and socially if I were to
become a citizen of Sweden.
Kingdom of Sweden vs. U.S Government The United States and Sweden have similarities and
difference between their government and political systems causing most individuals to be impacted
differently. Both governments include a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly for a person who has been accused of an offence is to be regarded as innocent "until
her/his guilt has been legally determined"(The Swedish Courts). This right is almost identical to the
one implemented in the U.S.
There are three types of courts in Sweden such as, the general court, which actually comprises
district courts, courts of appeal, and the Supreme Court. In addition, neither "the Riksdag nor any
other authority may how decided how a court should adjudicate in a particular case (The Swedish
Courts). The Swedish judicial system is very similar to the U.S.; causing my life to not much from
the one I live in now when looking at this particular aspect.
Standard of Living & Welfare System Parties all over the world have been trying to make some sort
of tax cut. Tax cuts are something that I believe need to be solved in the U.S. The current system we
have implemented is not working and is a highly debated topic. This is not the case for Sweden;
personal income tax can be up as low as 29 percent of your pay. The average citizen/worker will pay
between"49 and 60 percent through a combination of local government and state income tax"
(Fouche). Paying this high tax is Sweden is look at as benefit by most citizens, which causes me to
believe the U.S. is doing something wrong. Most people trust the state to manage its taxes well.

The Pros And Cons Of The Swedish Democracy
To continue, Sweden is very clear on the fundamental rights and freedoms of their citizens.
According to the Swedish constitution, every citizen is entitled to freedom of expression, freedom of
information, freedom of assembly, freedom to demonstrate, freedom of association, freedom of
worship, and freedom of the press. Sweden passed the Freedom of the Press Act which goes hand in
hand with the freedom of expression. They both seek to give citizens the right to access official
government documents and express their opinions through any means they wish, such as writing a
news article and publishing it. The Swedish constitution states that citizens will be protected from
any form of physical violation and violation of privacy such as body searches ... Show more content

The Swedish constitution emphasizes the need for protection of human liberties and the need to
allow the public to actively participate in government affairs. For example, the Swedish constitution
gives their citizens the right to access official documents and to express their opinions through any
means they wish, such as writing a news article and publishing it ("The Constitution of the Kingdom
of Sweden" 3). This means that Swedish citizens have the right to review official documents, even
government documents, and share their opinion about it. They are entitled to make their own
judgments about any type of documents, even government documents, and are free to publicize their
judgments without any coercion from larger forces, such as political forces. The Swedish
Constitution states that their citizens are protected from the coercion of larger forces such as
"political, religious, cultural or other such connection" forces. For example, Swedish citizens are
protected from being coerced by a larger political force to belong to a political association or from
being coerced by a larger political force to form an opinion about the government ("The
Constitution of the Kingdom of Sweden"

Government Intervention, Real Gdp, And National Debt From...
Sweden: The Ultimate "Elsewhere" John Malkovich once, jokingly, stated that "utopia means
elsewhere". Sandwiched in between Norway and Finland is that idealized "elsewhere", Sweden,
with a strong government and thriving economy. It is not only solidly constructed but stunning to
look at, with beautiful plant life and architecture to match. Sweden is sparsely populated with
roughly 9.6 million people living comparatively good lives (with low crime rates, 18 month long
parental leaves, and a high standard of living). It is famous for its neutral foreign policy and high
taxes. In short, Sweden is the ideal... if not to live in then definitely to visit at least once. In this
paper I will analyze Sweden, examining factors of supply and demand, government intervention,
real GDP, and national debt from an economic perspective. The first factor that I will evaluate is
how the Swedish power market has seen a rightward shift in its supply curve over the last forty
years. The Oil Crisis of the 1970s – sparked extensive research into alternative energy sources that
would result in a 53.5 percent decrease in oil dependency between 1970 and 2012 (Energy Use in
Sweden). This transition from a finite resource to its renewable counterpart opened the market for
competition in Sweden and, combined with the inelastic demand for power in a modern nation,
increased the quantity available to consumers and decreased the price. As of right now, "green"
energy cannot be exported very far because it is

Their carbon taxes is one of the highest in the world, but this allows them to have more reduce other
taxes to help promote growth. Using the carbon taxes the government earned, they gave rebates to
anyone who buys a "green" car. In Ontario, there is a cap and trade system implemented by Kathleen
Wynne but it is very ineffective in helping the economy grow compared to Sweden growth as an
economy due to a carbon tax. Ontario should adapt Sweden's idea of carbon taxes as it will grow the
economy while helping the environment. A wonderful way to promote business and grow the
economy is to have a strong carbon tax. In Ontario, there is a cap and trade system in place to
regulate the CO2 emissions that are being released. The cap and trade system is when every
company has a limit on how much CO2 they release into the air. The companies Every year, the

Entrepreneurship Education: A Comparison of Canada and...
Entrepreneurship Education: A Comparison of Canada and Sweden from the 1980's to Present Day.
Research Question
What is the comparison of entrepreneurship and the state of educating entrepreneurs between the
countries of Canada and Sweden and the effects on entrepreneurial levels and successes within the
specific timeframe of the 1980's to present day?
Entrepreneurship is one of the main foundations of many countries economies historically and it
plays just as crucial of a role in the present day. Dr. Howard Stevenson of entrepreneurship studies
at Harvard School of Business defines entrepreneurship as "the pursuit of opportunity beyond
resources controlled". (Sinoway & Meadow, 2012) As a native Canadian, entrepreneurship played ...

Literature Review
In regards to past research, there has been academic journals published comparing the state of
entrepreneurship in Sweden to that of other European nations, the United Sates, Japan, as well as
some other Asian countries. There are similar papers publish comparing the state of
entrepreneurship in Canada to the United States as well as some European countries. So previous
research has been done in this comparative fashion but none has been done to directly compare the
countries of Canada and Sweden in this manner. My research as also discovered papers focusing on
specific elements of the entrepreneurial ecosystems in both Canada and Sweden.
In my initial research I mainly focused on papers that pertained to the education of entrepreneurs in
both Canada and Sweden. The Government offices of Sweden produced a report that was a joint
effort by their Ministry of Education and Research, Ministry of Enterprise, and Energy and
Communications. The report outlines the need to "integrate entrepreneurship throughout the
educational system" and the measure taken to do so in the Swedish educational system. (Björklund,
Leijonborg, & Olofsson, 2009, p. 1) In this report the government outline fourteen different points
of importance in their goal of integration and provides a short summary of how each point has or
will be accomplished and instituted. In my research I found an academic journal

Pack the bags for Sweden
Nestled in the northern part of Europe, between Norway and Finland, is a country filled with great
opportunities for all to benefit. Sweden's wonderful landscape and breathtaking views are all but the
tip of the iceberg of why moving there would be so incredible. The many reasons to live over there
include their educational system and healthcare options that give assistance to anyone that needs it.
Not to mention being one of the richest countries in the world and using foreign trade to connect
with other locations to grow an even stronger economic base. Sweden has countless options
promoting a better family lifestyle and offering more financial advantages to further your economic
status. Across the United States there is inequality sprinkled throughout the schools where children
cannot get the same education as the ones with money. By allowing economic stature to affect
education, it limits children all over to not excel to their true potential. They receive raggedy
textbooks, subpar teachers, and rundown learning facilities. "In every society, the highly educated
are those first and most likely to hold individualistic ideals. The specific choices young people make
in the transition to adulthood are therefore responsive to both structural and ideological forces, both
of which are associated with education" (Thompson, Bernhardt 2010). Well in Sweden schools

Social Policies : A Policy 's Success Or Failures
There are different approaches and methods used to evaluate social policies. Social policies can be

are evaluated in terms of method, compared to other policies such health or public policy. Yet the

Impact Assessment includes" many of those evaluation activities with which we are most familiar:
selection of objectives and criteria, specification of target populations, development of research
design and data collection techniques and evaluation reports (Audrey Begun, Social Policy
Evaluation: An Example from Drinking Age Legislation, 1980, p. 167). There are some weaknesses
to these approaches. Begum (1980) notes that "policy evaluations efforts are subject to validity
threats from political sources (as cited in Segall, 1976,). The impact of political realities on the
policy evaluation effort can be attributed to a tendency described by Campbell wherein "specific
reforms are advocated as though they were certain to be successful" (as cited in Segall, 1976,
p.166). Begum (1980) explains the concerns the potential bias resulting from the fact that evaluators
are often encouraged to demonstrate "surprising" findings and results (as cited in Mushkin, 1973,

Finding out a Bit about Sweden
Sweden
Since I am interested in Sweden, I decided to find out a little about. One of the first thing I would
find out is some basic information about the country. Another thing I would like to find out is what
has happen in Sweden's history. Furthermore, it would also be interesting to learn about the
country's current leader. Information about the capital city is another thing that I want to discover
about Sweden. In addition, I would like to find out about popular attractions that are located in
Sweden. Finally, I want to learn about a famous person who was born in Sweden. Those are some of
the thing I hope to learn from doing this project. The first thing I wanted to find out was some basic
information about Sweden found out that armed neutrality has kept Sweden out of a war nearly for
two centuries. Low unemployment a low birthrate and one of the world's highest life expectancies
has changed today's Sweden. So there for Sweden would be a very good place to live, there are not
many people running around. There are jobs there for people. Sweden success has been good with
capitalism like cooperation between the government and labor unions that are 90% of the workers.
In the late 1980s, there were flood immigrants from Asia, Africa and Latin American. The second
thing I wanted to learn was what has happened in Sweden's history I discovered that the earliest
historical mention of Sweden is found in Tacitus. In the 11th century Olaf Skottkonung had became

Sweden Immigration Crisis Analysis
Sweden has long been known as a safe country that has ben able to stay away from war and
violence, a country of peace. This is changing. Swedish society has now become a 21st century
version of West Side Story. On the streets of suburbs, as well as big cities such as Stockholm and
Malmö, there have been riots between immigrants and supporters of the Swedish nationalist party
"Sweden Democrats". Several police officers have mistreated immigrants, immigrants and left
activists have torched cars, Swedish nationalists have run the streets chasing immigrants, and
schools and mosques have also been torched in the mist of this ongoing conflict between (Crouch;

In an editorial from Globe and Mail (Toronto, Canada) journalist Margaret Wente states that
Sweden's fantasy of immigrated refugees becoming Swedish natives has not worked out. According
to her, immigrants hold 42% of long–term unemployment, 45% of children with low test scores,
earn 40% less than native Swedes, and are "the majority of people charged with murder, rape and
robbery" (Wente). It is true that a lot of immigrants have a hard time getting jobs and that many who
do get much lower wages than the average Swede. However, this is not a choice that these
immigrants willingly make. A lot of refugees coming into Sweden from countries, such as war
infested Iraq and Afghanistan, have not had access to a good education since those countries have
"failing education systems"(The Express Tribune). There are also, however, a large amount of
immigrants who do have good education as well as a diverse skillsets which can contribute a great
deal to Swedish businesses. One of the reasons they are dismissed are because of the fact that they
are immigrants, and that they cannot speak the language fluently. However, in an interview by The

In the entire world, there are many different types of government, each one with its own set of rules
and its own way it handles its politics. From dictatorship, to monarchy, to democracy, life in these
governments are all different, and some are much more enjoyable than others.
Out of all the forms of government in the world, democracy gives the most power to the people. In
democracy, the people vote on all aspects of governments, whether it is to vote on politicians who
are in parliament, or voting directly on all members of congress. One of the top ten democracies of

There are three different kinds of dictatorships; Autocracy, oligarchy, and absolute democracy. I am
going to talk about North Korea. North Korea is one of the few remaining totalitarian governments,
which is a form of dictatorship in which the dictator or ruler try to control all aspects of life,
extending beyond politics. While they have elections to choose their leader, the elected leader has
full control over all aspects of life. Life is drastically different inside this form of government, as
photos show, life is heavily restricted. TV programs only show propaganda and they are the only
source of entertainment. A news articles tells the story of a boy names Kim and how he survived the
famine in North Korea. Early in the article, Kim tells us that, "You could be sent to a prison camp
for allowing dirt to gather on Kim – sung's portrait, or putting it behind cracked glass,". This tells us
how hard the punishments were and how unfair everything was. It also tells us how they
brainwashed the citizens, whether they portrayed Americans spearing pregnant women, or leading
them to think that their only escape route, the Tumen river, was laced with 33,000 volts of
electricity. Overall, life in North Korea is a terrible experience.
Life in dictatorships are much different from those in democracies. Democracies offer freedom and
an ability to participate in government, while in dictatorships, the leader has full control over
politics, and sometimes, over all aspects of life. From dictatorships, monarchies, and democracies,
life in these governments are all different, and some are more enjoyable then

Prostitution : A Matter Of Numbers
Legalising prostitution: a matter of numbers
Prostitution is commonly referred to as the oldest profession of the world, and this is far from true if
we consider the definition of prostitution. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, "Prostitution is
the practice of engaging in relatively indiscriminate sexual activity in exchange for immediate
payment in money or other valuables" (prostitution in Encyclopædia Britannica Online, 2015).
There is little evidence of humans selling sex for payment in the prehistoric period, and during the
age of Romans, where collecting a fee was illegal, unrestrained sex, not remuneration, was the main
aspect of this practice (Clarkson, 1939).
There is still a debate of different attitudes regarding prostitution. On the one hand, those who
support its legalisation argue that it exists a distinction between forced and voluntary prostitution
and that adults should have the right to sell and purchase sex without restrictions (Outshoorn, 2005).
On the other hand, those who defend its criminalisation claim that prostitution occurs within
unequal gendered power relations (O'Connell Davidson, 1998 cited in Outshoorn, 2005) and
constitutes a violation of women's human rights, and therefore a distinction between forced and
voluntary prostitution is irrelevant (Government Offices of Sweden, 2010).
Even though many consider the legalisation of prostitution as a solution to protect prostitutes from
rapes and sexual harassment, to improve their working

Sweden is commonly regarded as the country with the happiest people (Marsh, Joel). According to

These qualities include, having a more homogenous population, less people, and a society that is

of strain on the government to support immigrants and other minorities in need. The smaller
population simply helps them by having far fewer people they have to provide social programs for,
unlike the 319 million people the United States would need to provide for. The most important
reason is their high taxes. To sustain these expensive programs, they need the money from
somewhere and there is no alternative to raising taxes. The percentage of Sweden's gross domestic
product (GDP) that comes from taxes is approximately 42.7% compared to the United States' at

The At The Arena Of Energy Policy
Introduction: Building off observations of political structure and derived stability in the previous

South Korea. South Korea and Sweden present the interesting similarity of both being net importers
of energy resources and for that reason both having the real incentive of formulating some system of
energy self–sufficiency to protect them from the dangers inherent to having an economy dependent
on the imports from another country. I will begin with outlining the energy issues and subsequent

Sweden: Sweden 's push for energy self–sufficiency began with a public demand for
environmentally friendly sources of energy post–World War II. Environmental issues such as acid
rain and hydroelectric ecological destruction resulted in a slew of renewable energy subsidies and
public investments in the 60 's and 70 's (Silveria, 2002). As seen in the prior study of the countries
unicameral legislative reform, it was also this time when Sweden dissolved its formally bicameral
legislature in favor of a less rigid unicameral system. During this time, post–1973, Sweden saw a
large uptick in the number of bills being passed, included in this was transitory legislation for the
promotion of energy self–sufficiency in Sweden (Congelton, 2003). As seen in Fig 1.1, this 1970 's
push for environmental protection greatly increased the countries reliance on the development of
nuclear energy for a replacement baseline source of energy production in the country. In recent years
the energy focus has shifted from nuclear towards the development of solar and wind infrastructure,
development which ,due to the high cost of primary investment, requires government subsidies to

both ideological and economic roots, its current minority coalition government is comprised in large

On the subject of embarrassingly scarce family benefits in the USA, it is also worth noting that
America has been exceedingly unsuccessful in implementing both widespread child tax allowances

rapidly all over the world – in America the all–in cost of raising a child to eighteen is around

Essay On Sweden Vs America
United States of America and Sweden, two countries that possess vastly different approaches to war
and conflict. Each having a set of benefits and downfalls. To examine the two counties properly, one
must note the defining differences between the two, such as their preparation for war, government
views, and responses to war. After the examination of the two, only then can one see that there are
substantial advantages and quite a few disadvantages to both systems. This essay is a focalized
comparison of America and Sweden's government stances on war, not individual citizens. The two
counties that are in comparison, Sweden and America, both "prepare" for war in different ways. For
example, while Sweden teaches about war, and dedication to their county while in school, In a
recent years, Sweden has had to buckle down and get ready for the possibility of an attack. To do
this, the government has called a full out revolt back to Swedish government during the Cold War.

Sweden Have you ever wondered what Sweden is like? It is a beautiful place with a varied
climate. Sweden has a more or less peaceful background. The cuisine there is amazing
and they have a wide variety of options. Their government is similar to the U.S's. Sweden
is an overall amazing place to visit, they have awesome landforms and a variety of regions,
a just government, and an amazing variety of vegetation and climate.
The geography of sweden goes from big mountain ranges to dense forest. With a

Swedish Welfare System
Swedish Welfare System Sweden has created a social welfare state that has eliminated a great deal
of poverty by providing extensive government aid to all citizens. It is referred to as the "Swedish
Model", and is based off of the belief that all citizens are entitled to help from the government.
Although tax rates may be high the benefits by far outweigh the downfalls. The "Swedish Model" is
more efficient and effective at equalizing citizen welfare than the United States' system; in the
United States the rich get richer, and those in poverty use welfare to barely scrape by. In Sweden all
citizens are taxed fairly and have use of social welfare programs that have a much greater capacity
to help citizens. These welfares are limited not only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

taxation and usage of extensive social welfare programs truly does increase welfare among the
population. Whether it be per capita GDP, poverty rates, healthcare, or disability Sweden comes out

Sweden's Healthcare System
The life expectancy of people in Sweden is increasing according to Sweden.se. The website
provides a statistic stating "average lifespan is now 81.4 years for women and 80.3 years for men.
This can be attributed in part to falling mortality rates from heart attacks and strokes. In 2016, one in
five people was 65 or older. On the other hand, the number of children born in Sweden has been
increasing each year since the late 1990s". Coverage is universal in Sweden. All residents are
entitled to publicly–financed health care. There is a population of 9,189,164 people in Sweden.

The county councils and the municipalities impose corresponding income taxes on their populations
to help cover health care services. In 2015, 69 percent of the county councils' total revenues came
from local taxes and 17 percent from subsidies and national government grants financed by national
income taxes and indirect taxes. General government grants are made to redistribute resources
among municipalities and county councils based on need. There are certain government grants that
finance particular access to reducing waiting times. In 2015, 89 percent of county councils' total
spending was on health care. Coverage is universal and automatic in Sweden. The 1982 Health and
Medical Services Act states that the health system must cover all legal residents. There is emergency
coverage provided to all patients from European Union/European Economic Area countries and to
patients from nine other countries with which Sweden has agreements. Also, asylum–seeking and
undocumented children have the right to health care services and children who are permanent
residents. Adult asylum seekers and undocumented adults have the right to receive care that cannot
be deferred. The private health insurance of Sweden, in forms supplementary coverage, accounts for
less than 1 percent of expenditures. It is associated with occupational health services, it is purchased

The Strong Performance Of Public Finances
The strong performance of public finances in Sweden is an interesting case.Previous studies have
compared the current crisis with the banking crisis in Sweden in the early 1990s to study the reason
behind Sweden's strong public finances (Flodén, 2013). When comparing the macroeconomic
behavior during the current crisis and during the banking crisis in the early 1990s, it showed a larger
drop in GDP and in exports while unemployment increased very less during the current crisis. The
absence of large increase in unemployment rate explained the strong Swedish public finances. The
relatively steady employment rate is due to the aggregated demand during the current crisis
remained strong, and the lower employment in the manufacturing sector was offset by the increase
in private sector. Another more important factor contributed to the high employment rate during the
current crisis is the Swedish fiscal policy framework, which was established after the banking crisis
in 1990s. The following analysis will explain how the fiscal framework can affect the Swedish
public finances. 4.2. The Swedish Fiscal Framework The Swedish Fiscal Policy Framework was
established in response to the earlier banking crisis in 1990s. The main objective of the fiscal
framework is to attain fiscal stability. It consists of four main parts, (i) a balanced budget
requirement for municipalities and county councils, (ii) an expenditure ceiling for the central
government, (iii) a top–down budget process, (iv)

Why All Countries Should Adopt Sweden's Feminist Foreign Policy
Some of the first things that may come to mind when people think of Sweden are Ikea, strong ice
hockey traditions and the musical group "Abba." Stereotypes of Swedish people often describe
hard–working, polite and reserved individuals who prefer to avoid conflict. While overlooking
history over the last one hundred years, one can see that the country's foreign policy had always
consisted of pursuing a policy of neutrality, including during World War II. Perhaps it is for this
reason that the current Swedish government raised eyebrows in some corners of the globe when it
introduced its feminist foreign policy in October, 2015.This essay will present the principles driving
Sweden's feminist foreign policy and argue why other countries can benefit from joining Sweden's
example by proactively pursuing a foreign policy that makes the treatment of women and girls a
central focus in foreign relations. First, it will explain why the Swedish government decided to take
an aggressive stance on feminism in its approach to foreign policy. It will then provide evidence to
show why other foreign states should endorse its approach and develop similar policies, because it
will help promote human rights globally if more states follow Sweden's example. The essay will
then discuss the women's suffrage movement and how this is related to contemporary feminist
policies. Finally, it will look at and critique Canada's policies on

Problems With Immigrants In Sweden
Sweden has had a problem with immigrants ever since it opened its borders around the 2000's. Free
transit between large cities like Copenhagen and Stockholm have created numerous problems
involving gang violence, an inactive government, and a growing population of asylum seekers that
doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. In 2003 the Öresund Bridge opened, connecting
Sweden and Denmark together with no border restrictions ushering in a new era of openness, which
quickly ended as problems arose and tension grew. Sweden's solution to the rapid influx of
immigrants was to create towns and places for them to live to help them adapt to Swedish culture in
a more efficient manner. The problem with this is that they were placing people of all different kinds
of religions and ethnicities into the same towns so people of differing views got into altercations.
This is where our first problem begins. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

now gone too far. "It is out of control. There is a lot of them, there is no place for them," he says.
The real problem is the refugees. They come here and think they can do whatever they want." This
highlights the problem of the racial, ethnic, and religious divide Sweden is experiencing. These
conflicts have also escalated to the use of hand grenades as mentioned in this BBC article, "Daniel

do these two countries vary exponentially in terms of their ranking of seats held by women in the
parliament? Australian's women in parliament hold 28.7 percent whereas, Sweden's' hold 43.6

FIRST PARAGRAPH:
Sweden, as well as the any other Nordic countries, established rapidly progressive forerunner
towards their gender equality stances whereas, Australia exhibits slower progression. Regarding
World Economic Reform of 2017, recent data reported that Sweden ranks 5th in the world and
Australia ranks 35th for their gender equality gap; this ranking system also accounts for the
percentage of women in parliament as well as women in ministerial positions. 28.7 percent of
Australia's parliament is held by women with 152 out of 349 seats within the lower or single house
(IPC 2017). 43.6 percent of Sweden's parliament is help by women with 43 out of 150 seats within
the lower or single house (IPC 2017). Additionally, 24.1 percent of Australia's women are holding
power within ministerial positions compared to Sweden's 52.2 percent (UN Women 2017). These
statistics should alarm most in regard to understanding what kind of parliament system both
countries have, what gender quotas are established, and how the gender equality various for both.

A Brief Note On Sweden And Norway And Sweden Essay
CDP Paper Sweden, Introduction
History:
Sweden has been a land populated for thousands of years, by early humans who left remnants of
their civilization through simple tools and cave drawings. Sweden was originally a set of provinces
that, around 1000 AD, were absorbed into a single unit, with their government system being that of
an absolute monarchy. However, by 1389, Sweden, along with Norway and Denmark, was placed
under the rule of Danish Queen Margareta, creating the Kalmar Union. The Kalmar union fell apart
due to internal conflicts, and Sweden became independent in 1523 ("History of Sweden | Official
site of Sweden", 2015). Soon after, the Swedish royalty nationalized churches and took its estate.
This set the bedrock for the Swedish state, concentrating wealth and power in the hands of royals,
and had economic and social consequences for years to come. In 1718, however, the Swedish
royalty lost much of its power, with the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) choosing to take power away
from the king and put it with Parliament("History of Sweden | Official site of Sweden", 2015). Late
19th century Sweden was affected by popular movement, such as those to free churches and
encourage women rights. Current day Sweden is a parliamentary government, with its constitution
stating that power comes from the people, and the monarch being a head of state in name only.

When these three concepts are used simultaneously a movement is manifested. Within her writing,
Baldez concludes that when the political system provides an opportunity, that is when a women's

arise as well, in order to establish a successful progression within the movement.
In 1919, Grace Benny became Australia's first woman in office catalyzing the female empowerment
movement, which in result, provided women with opportunities to consider becoming more actively
involved within the government and various associations (Victorian Women's Trust 2017). In 1947,
Sweden elected their first woman into the government position of ministerial, Karin Kock; she also
influenced the evolution of the women empowerment movement; in addition, Knock, influenced a
greater pull towards female participation in the economic and political parliaments (Sweden Sverige
2017). My analysis sheds light onto the various similarities and differences that helped form a
progressive enlightenment on gender equality towards women in politics within both countries.
Though Sweden and Australia vary significantly within their demographics, similar ideologies were
used when initiating women stances in the governing parliaments.

ORESUND BRIDGE (WONG MING MING)
Relationship between Two Countries
The Oresund Bridge was agreed to build after the Danish and Swedish governments signed the final
agreement of building Oresund Bridge in year 1991. The considerations of the impact of Oresund
Bridge were being made such as using this link to promote commuting and the exchange of culture
between Copenhagen in Denmark and Malmo in Sweden (Oresundsbro Konsortiet 2008, p. 2).
Engineers believed that culture exchange between Sweden and Denmark can make their relationship
even closer by knowing each other's culture.
For the culture of Sweden, Swedes normally are egalitarian, which means that Swedes are the
person who supports the principle of equality for all people (Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary
2014). Swedes are humble and cannot accept boasting (Sweden–language, culture, customs and
etiquette 2013). Swedes often give thanks and their behaviours are strongly balanced towards
moderation. Swedes work hard but not too hard and they will go enjoy themselves without
participating in something which is extreme. Also, due to the strong egalitarianism, competition is
not encouraged in Sweden.
Meanwhile in Denmark, the Danes are being called as the world's happiest people. Danes are always
satisfied with the way they live (Danish culture and lifestyle 2013). Danes are also generous because

the preferred electoral system. The quality to be measured is the fairness of democratic

choice (Nation Master, 2003: "British House of Commons"; Kavanagh, Dennis, 2000: 116–19).
British voters have traditionally been motivated by party ideology when casting their vote, but some
votes are cast for incumbents with favored personalities (Kavanagh: 125).
The mechanics of such an electoral system have generally supported the domination of Britain?s
parliament by two parties, allowing one party to form a governing majority on its own. Currently,
the Labour party holds a majority of seats with the Conservatives in opposition. Historically
speaking, though, at times party factions and regional interests have undermined the two–party
system as well as the players that dominate it. In the early part of the twentieth century, the two–
party system was dominated by the Conservatives and the Liberals (today known as the Liberal
Democrats), though it was threatened by the Irish Nationalists. The 1920s saw a three–party system
as the Liberals factionalized and the new Labour party solidly gained power, with the Labour party
at times forming minority governments by entering coalitions with smaller parties. Since 1945, a
two–party system has been maintained by the Conservative and Labour parties, with the
Conservatives holding a majority for much of the twentieth century (Kavanagh: 140–72).

Innovation Nations : Sweden. Sweden
Innovation Nations: Sweden
Sweden wasn't always a country every other country looked up to in regard to innovation. Instead, it
was mostly dismissed and forgotten. In fact, as long ago as the early 90s, the country was actually
hit with a huge financial crisis. National debt was at an all–time high, and unemployment and
government spending didn't fare much better.
However, this financial crisis was just what the country needed to complete reinvent itself as one of
the leading countries in the way of innovation. Today, most western countries look towards Sweden
for inspiration when trying to stabilize their own economy and drive innovation forward.
How does Sweden do it?
The first step that Sweden took to get itself back on the right track was to develop strong reforms.
These reforms included ensuring the budget was continually balanced and that spending was kept
under control. They also established committees that were established to help ensure that these
reforms were followed correctly.
With these systems in place, it was much easier to focus on innovation than it was in the past. In the
end, this helped Sweden develop a system that was strong, competitive and successful. One of the
main things the country focuses on is exports. They have developed a strongly diverse set of
products they export, which has also helped them stay successful in creating innovations in a variety
of industries.
Like many other countries, Sweden has noticed the increasing popularity of

Every country in the world is left with the same question: how do we take care of the people within
our country, and how do we do it efficiently and effectively? This subject is widely debated, as there
are plenty of healthcare systems out there. Nevertheless, the most desirable system for a given
country will never be completely agreed upon. The United States has recently adopted Obamacare,
which, like any other new system, has been subject to harsh scrutiny. Presidential campaigns are

They are also in charge of developing principles and guidelines for this healthcare system. The
Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) represent the 20 county councils
and 290 municipalities. SALAR is in charge of making agreements with the central government as it
pertains to healthcare (Health Care in Sweden). The county councils must collect income taxes and
provide hospitals and general practitioners, while the municipalities are responsible for providing
municipal care. In a broad perspective, Sweden's healthcare system is simple, but the simplicity is
not as important as how efficient and effective it is.
Sweden boasts an impressive life expectancy of 83.7 years for women and 80.1 years for men.
Another important statistic that demonstrates the results of medicine in Sweden is the maternal
mortality rate, which is one of the lowest in the world. Currently, less than four out of 100,000
women die in birth, while fewer than three out of 1,000 babies do not make it through birth. Sweden
also has one of Europe's largest elderly population percentages with 19.4 percent of the country's
population was 65 or older as of 2013 (Health Care in Sweden). After an initial examination, no
patient should have to wait more than 90 days to see a specialist, and no more than 90 days for an

specifically: Singapore and Sweden, for exportation and company expansion.
Socio economic environment of Singapore
Singapore is a very competitive country with regards to its economy. It is an ideal place to start a
business as it has risen its rank from number seven to number six on doing business according to the
World Bank (2017). Although this country is highly competitive, the economic situation of
Singapore is being affected as it is dependent on exports. Because of recent changes in the global
economy, Singapore faces weak global exportation demands, contributing to Singapore's economic
situation is the restructuring of the Chinese economy as their economy has since slowed down. even
so, the government is expected to remain stable for 2017 as the government has developed plans that
focuses on the investments of certain sectors of the economy. The population of Singapore is
steadily rising with an estimated two hundred sixty–one million people in 2016 (The World Bank,

(Tilford & Whyte, 2010).
2.1 SMART growth– Enterprise Environment
Firstly, in the SMART growth area, Sweden has been performing generally well, being ranked
second out of 28 countries (World Economic Forum, 2014). As seen in figure 1 below, Sweden's
best perfoming area within the SMART growth criteria is the enterprise environment. Sweden is
ranked among Denmark, Ireland and the UK as one of the top 20 locations in the world to do

recent years compared to Netherlands or Denmark, especially in the service sector (European
Commission, 2016). Also, Sweden is spotted for its friendly environment for new business start–

Union of Norway and Sweeden
The dissolution of the union between Norway and Sweden was carried out by the Norwegian
parliament under the House of Bernadotte on 7 June 1905. After some months of tension and fear of
war between the two neighbouring nations, negotiations between the two governments led to
Norway's recognition by Sweden as an independent constitutional monarchy on 26 October 1905
Norwegian nationalistic aspirations in 1814 were frustrated by Sweden's victory in a brief war that
resulted in Norway entering into a personal union with Sweden. The Norwegian constitution was
largely kept untouched, allowing for an independent Norwegian state with its own parliament,
judiciary, and executive powers. Over the years, a divergence of Norwegian and Swedish interests
became apparent. When free trade between the countries was restricted in 1895 through the abolition
of the interstate laws", the economic reasons for the continued union were also diminished. In early
1905, Christian Michelsen formed a coalition government consisting of liberals and conservatives,
whose only stated objective was to establish a separate Norwegian corps of consuls. The law was
passed by the Norwegian parliament. On 7 June 1905, the Storting voted to dissolve the union with
Sweden because Oscar had effectively abandoned his role as King of Norway by refusing to appoint
a replacement government. 7 June is considered independence day for Norway. The Swedish
government considered this declaration as rebellious, and they

Social Differences Between The USAd Sweden

  • 1. Social Differences Between The USAd Sweden Where you live plays a major role in your political, economic, and social life. It also impacts how you are politically represented causing individuals all over the world to form different views and opinions. As a citizen of the United States my views maybe completely different than someone's who lives in Sweden. These differences can have various positive or negative effects on life. So I am going to compare how my life would differ politically, economically, and socially if I were to become a citizen of Sweden. Kingdom of Sweden vs. U.S Government The United States and Sweden have similarities and difference between their government and political systems causing most individuals to be impacted differently. Both governments include a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly for a person who has been accused of an offence is to be regarded as innocent "until her/his guilt has been legally determined"(The Swedish Courts). This right is almost identical to the one implemented in the U.S. There are three types of courts in Sweden such as, the general court, which actually comprises district courts, courts of appeal, and the Supreme Court. In addition, neither "the Riksdag nor any other authority may how decided how a court should adjudicate in a particular case (The Swedish Courts). The Swedish judicial system is very similar to the U.S.; causing my life to not much from the one I live in now when looking at this particular aspect. Standard of Living & Welfare System Parties all over the world have been trying to make some sort of tax cut. Tax cuts are something that I believe need to be solved in the U.S. The current system we have implemented is not working and is a highly debated topic. This is not the case for Sweden; personal income tax can be up as low as 29 percent of your pay. The average citizen/worker will pay between"49 and 60 percent through a combination of local government and state income tax" (Fouche). Paying this high tax is Sweden is look at as benefit by most citizens, which causes me to believe the U.S. is doing something wrong. Most people trust the state to manage its taxes well. Almost ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of The Swedish Democracy To continue, Sweden is very clear on the fundamental rights and freedoms of their citizens. According to the Swedish constitution, every citizen is entitled to freedom of expression, freedom of information, freedom of assembly, freedom to demonstrate, freedom of association, freedom of worship, and freedom of the press. Sweden passed the Freedom of the Press Act which goes hand in hand with the freedom of expression. They both seek to give citizens the right to access official government documents and express their opinions through any means they wish, such as writing a news article and publishing it. The Swedish constitution states that citizens will be protected from any form of physical violation and violation of privacy such as body searches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Swedish constitution emphasizes the need for protection of human liberties and the need to allow the public to actively participate in government affairs. For example, the Swedish constitution gives their citizens the right to access official documents and to express their opinions through any means they wish, such as writing a news article and publishing it ("The Constitution of the Kingdom of Sweden" 3). This means that Swedish citizens have the right to review official documents, even government documents, and share their opinion about it. They are entitled to make their own judgments about any type of documents, even government documents, and are free to publicize their judgments without any coercion from larger forces, such as political forces. The Swedish Constitution states that their citizens are protected from the coercion of larger forces such as "political, religious, cultural or other such connection" forces. For example, Swedish citizens are protected from being coerced by a larger political force to belong to a political association or from being coerced by a larger political force to form an opinion about the government ("The Constitution of the Kingdom of Sweden" ... • 5. Government Intervention, Real Gdp, And National Debt From... Sweden: The Ultimate "Elsewhere" John Malkovich once, jokingly, stated that "utopia means elsewhere". Sandwiched in between Norway and Finland is that idealized "elsewhere", Sweden, with a strong government and thriving economy. It is not only solidly constructed but stunning to look at, with beautiful plant life and architecture to match. Sweden is sparsely populated with roughly 9.6 million people living comparatively good lives (with low crime rates, 18 month long parental leaves, and a high standard of living). It is famous for its neutral foreign policy and high taxes. In short, Sweden is the ideal... if not to live in then definitely to visit at least once. In this paper I will analyze Sweden, examining factors of supply and demand, government intervention, real GDP, and national debt from an economic perspective. The first factor that I will evaluate is how the Swedish power market has seen a rightward shift in its supply curve over the last forty years. The Oil Crisis of the 1970s – sparked extensive research into alternative energy sources that would result in a 53.5 percent decrease in oil dependency between 1970 and 2012 (Energy Use in Sweden). This transition from a finite resource to its renewable counterpart opened the market for competition in Sweden and, combined with the inelastic demand for power in a modern nation, increased the quantity available to consumers and decreased the price. As of right now, "green" energy cannot be exported very far because it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using the carbon taxes the government earned, they gave rebates to anyone who buys a "green" car. In Ontario, there is a cap and trade system implemented by Kathleen Wynne but it is very ineffective in helping the economy grow compared to Sweden growth as an economy due to a carbon tax. Ontario should adapt Sweden's idea of carbon taxes as it will grow the economy while helping the environment. A wonderful way to promote business and grow the economy is to have a strong carbon tax. In Ontario, there is a cap and trade system in place to regulate the CO2 emissions that are being released. The cap and trade system is when every company has a limit on how much CO2 they release into the air. The companies Every year, the programs shrinks the limit down to help fight against climate change. Within four years, the revenue earned from the program will be $8 billion but only $1.32 billion is going to be used for residential and business electricity bills (Green, 2017). Research Question What is the comparison of entrepreneurship and the state of educating entrepreneurs between the countries of Canada and Sweden and the effects on entrepreneurial levels and successes within the specific timeframe of the 1980's to present day? Entrepreneurship is one of the main foundations of many countries economies historically and it plays just as crucial of a role in the present day. There are similar papers publish comparing the state of entrepreneurship in Canada to the United States as well as some European countries. So previous research has been done in this comparative fashion but none has been done to directly compare the countries of Canada and Sweden in this manner. My research as also discovered papers focusing on specific elements of the entrepreneurial ecosystems in both Canada and Sweden. In my initial research I mainly focused on papers that pertained to the education of entrepreneurs in both Canada and Sweden. The Government offices of Sweden produced a report that was a joint effort by their Ministry of Education and Research, Ministry of Enterprise, and Energy and Communications. The report outlines the need to "integrate entrepreneurship throughout the educational system" and the measure taken to do so in the Swedish educational system. (Björklund, Leijonborg, & Olofsson, 2009, p. 1) In this report the government outline fourteen different points of importance in their goal of integration and provides a short summary of how each point has or will be accomplished and instituted. Not to mention being one of the richest countries in the world and using foreign trade to connect with other locations to grow an even stronger economic base. Sweden has countless options promoting a better family lifestyle and offering more financial advantages to further your economic status. Across the United States there is inequality sprinkled throughout the schools where children cannot get the same education as the ones with money. By allowing economic stature to affect education, it limits children all over to not excel to their true potential. They receive raggedy textbooks, subpar teachers, and rundown learning facilities. "In every society, the highly educated are those first and most likely to hold individualistic ideals. The specific choices young people make in the transition to adulthood are therefore responsive to both structural and ideological forces, both of which are associated with education" (Thompson, Bernhardt 2010). There are some weaknesses to these approaches. Begum (1980) notes that "policy evaluations efforts are subject to validity threats from political sources (as cited in Segall, 1976,). The impact of political realities on the policy evaluation effort can be attributed to a tendency described by Campbell wherein "specific reforms are advocated as though they were certain to be successful" (as cited in Segall, 1976, p.166). Begum (1980) explains the concerns the potential bias resulting from the fact that evaluators are often encouraged to demonstrate "surprising" findings and results (as cited in Mushkin, 1973, p.166). One of the first thing I would find out is some basic information about the country. Another thing I would like to find out is what has happen in Sweden's history. Furthermore, it would also be interesting to learn about the country's current leader. Information about the capital city is another thing that I want to discover about Sweden. In addition, I would like to find out about popular attractions that are located in Sweden. Finally, I want to learn about a famous person who was born in Sweden. Those are some of the thing I hope to learn from doing this project. The first thing I wanted to find out was some basic information about Sweden found out that armed neutrality has kept Sweden out of a war nearly for two centuries. Low unemployment a low birthrate and one of the world's highest life expectancies has changed today's Sweden. So there for Sweden would be a very good place to live, there are not many people running around. There are jobs there for people. Sweden success has been good with capitalism like cooperation between the government and labor unions that are 90% of the workers. In the late 1980s, there were flood immigrants from Asia, Africa and Latin American. Swedish society has now become a 21st century version of West Side Story. On the streets of suburbs, as well as big cities such as Stockholm and Malmö, there have been riots between immigrants and supporters of the Swedish nationalist party "Sweden Democrats". Several police officers have mistreated immigrants, immigrants and left activists have torched cars, Swedish nationalists have run the streets chasing immigrants, and schools and mosques have also been torched in the mist of this ongoing conflict between (Crouch; Eddy). It is true that a lot of immigrants have a hard time getting jobs and that many who do get much lower wages than the average Swede. However, this is not a choice that these immigrants willingly make. A lot of refugees coming into Sweden from countries, such as war infested Iraq and Afghanistan, have not had access to a good education since those countries have "failing education systems"(The Express Tribune). There are also, however, a large amount of immigrants who do have good education as well as a diverse skillsets which can contribute a great deal to Swedish businesses. While they have elections to choose their leader, the elected leader has full control over all aspects of life. • 25. Prostitution : A Matter Of Numbers Legalising prostitution: a matter of numbers Prostitution is commonly referred to as the oldest profession of the world, and this is far from true if we consider the definition of prostitution. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, "Prostitution is the practice of engaging in relatively indiscriminate sexual activity in exchange for immediate payment in money or other valuables" (prostitution in Encyclopædia Britannica Online, 2015). There is little evidence of humans selling sex for payment in the prehistoric period, and during the age of Romans, where collecting a fee was illegal, unrestrained sex, not remuneration, was the main aspect of this practice (Clarkson, 1939). There is still a debate of different attitudes regarding prostitution. On the one hand, those who support its legalisation argue that it exists a distinction between forced and voluntary prostitution and that adults should have the right to sell and purchase sex without restrictions (Outshoorn, 2005). On the other hand, those who defend its criminalisation claim that prostitution occurs within unequal gendered power relations (O'Connell Davidson, 1998 cited in Outshoorn, 2005) and constitutes a violation of women's human rights, and therefore a distinction between forced and voluntary prostitution is irrelevant (Government Offices of Sweden, 2010). The At The Arena Of Energy Policy Introduction: Building off observations of political structure and derived stability in the previous paper I will, in this paper, apply lessons learned to the arena of energy policy in both Sweden and South Korea. South Korea and Sweden present the interesting similarity of both being net importers of energy resources and for that reason both having the real incentive of formulating some system of energy self–sufficiency to protect them from the dangers inherent to having an economy dependent on the imports from another country. I will begin with outlining the energy issues and subsequent policies being addressed in each country, followed by an in–depth examination on how the political structure of each country has affected the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sweden: Sweden 's push for energy self–sufficiency began with a public demand for environmentally friendly sources of energy post–World War II. Environmental issues such as acid rain and hydroelectric ecological destruction resulted in a slew of renewable energy subsidies and public investments in the 60 's and 70 's (Silveria, 2002). As seen in the prior study of the countries unicameral legislative reform, it was also this time when Sweden dissolved its formally bicameral legislature in favor of a less rigid unicameral system. During this time, post–1973, Sweden saw a large uptick in the number of bills being passed, included in this was transitory legislation for the promotion of energy self–sufficiency in Sweden (Congelton, 2003). As seen in Fig 1.1, this 1970 's push for environmental protection greatly increased the countries reliance on the development of nuclear energy for a replacement baseline source of energy production in the country. In recent years the energy focus has shifted from nuclear towards the development of solar and wind infrastructure, development which ,due to the high cost of primary investment, requires government subsidies to sustain. In modern days Sweden 's focus on the development of renewable energy can be traced to both ideological and economic roots, its current minority coalition government is comprised in large part of the green party and it 's ... The Strong Performance Of Public Finances The strong performance of public finances in Sweden is an interesting case.Previous studies have compared the current crisis with the banking crisis in Sweden in the early 1990s to study the reason behind Sweden's strong public finances (Flodén, 2013). When comparing the macroeconomic behavior during the current crisis and during the banking crisis in the early 1990s, it showed a larger drop in GDP and in exports while unemployment increased very less during the current crisis. The absence of large increase in unemployment rate explained the strong Swedish public finances. The relatively steady employment rate is due to the aggregated demand during the current crisis remained strong, and the lower employment in the manufacturing sector was offset by the increase in private sector. Another more important factor contributed to the high employment rate during the current crisis is the Swedish fiscal policy framework, which was established after the banking crisis in 1990s. The following analysis will explain how the fiscal framework can affect the Swedish public finances. 4.2. Why All Countries Should Adopt Sweden's Feminist Foreign Policy Some of the first things that may come to mind when people think of Sweden are Ikea, strong ice hockey traditions and the musical group "Abba." Stereotypes of Swedish people often describe hard–working, polite and reserved individuals who prefer to avoid conflict. While overlooking history over the last one hundred years, one can see that the country's foreign policy had always consisted of pursuing a policy of neutrality, including during World War II. Perhaps it is for this reason that the current Swedish government raised eyebrows in some corners of the globe when it introduced its feminist foreign policy in October, 2015.This essay will present the principles driving Sweden's feminist foreign policy and argue why other countries can benefit from joining Sweden's example by proactively pursuing a foreign policy that makes the treatment of women and girls a central focus in foreign relations. It will then provide evidence to show why other foreign states should endorse its approach and develop similar policies, because it will help promote human rights globally if more states follow Sweden's example. Free transit between large cities like Copenhagen and Stockholm have created numerous problems involving gang violence, an inactive government, and a growing population of asylum seekers that doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. In 2003 the Öresund Bridge opened, connecting Sweden and Denmark together with no border restrictions ushering in a new era of openness, which quickly ended as problems arose and tension grew. Sweden's solution to the rapid influx of immigrants was to create towns and places for them to live to help them adapt to Swedish culture in a more efficient manner. The problem with this is that they were placing people of all different kinds of religions and ethnicities into the same towns so people of differing views got into altercations. • 52. A Brief Note On Sweden And Norway And Sweden Essay CDP Paper Sweden, Introduction History: Sweden has been a land populated for thousands of years, by early humans who left remnants of their civilization through simple tools and cave drawings. Sweden was originally a set of provinces that, around 1000 AD, were absorbed into a single unit, with their government system being that of an absolute monarchy. However, by 1389, Sweden, along with Norway and Denmark, was placed under the rule of Danish Queen Margareta, creating the Kalmar Union. The Kalmar union fell apart due to internal conflicts, and Sweden became independent in 1523 ("History of Sweden | Official site of Sweden", 2015). Soon after, the Swedish royalty nationalized churches and took its estate. This set the bedrock for the Swedish state, concentrating wealth and power in the hands of royals, and had economic and social consequences for years to come. In 1718, however, the Swedish royalty lost much of its power, with the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) choosing to take power away from the king and put it with Parliament("History of Sweden | Official site of Sweden", 2015). Late 19th century Sweden was affected by popular movement, such as those to free churches and encourage women rights. Current day Sweden is a parliamentary government, with its constitution stating that power comes from the people, and the monarch being a head of state in name only. Geography: Sweden is a nation in Northern Europe, with an area of 450,000 km^2. It's slightly larger than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Sweden's Role Of Women In The Australian And Swedish... Since the 20th century, Sweden has evolved into the 6th highest ranking parliament, when it comes to women; although, Australia's parliament is ranked as 50th regarding gender equality, the country was one of the first nations to acknowledge women's suffrage (Inter–Parliamentary Union 2017). Sweden's government is a monarchy comprised of a multiparty system parliament (Riksdag). Representatives are elected and nominated by the people to take part in the Swedish parliament, titled Riksdag. Within her writing, Baldez concludes that when the political system provides an opportunity, that is when a women's movement coalesce (tips), therefore, it is also expected that the remaining two theoretical concepts arise as well, in order to establish a successful progression within the movement. In 1919, Grace Benny became Australia's first woman in office catalyzing the female empowerment movement, which in result, provided women with opportunities to consider becoming more actively involved within the government and various associations (Victorian Women's Trust 2017). In 1947, Sweden elected their first woman into the government position of ministerial, Karin Kock; she also influenced the evolution of the women empowerment movement; in addition, Knock, influenced a greater pull towards female participation in the economic and political parliaments (Sweden Sverige 2017). My analysis sheds light onto the various similarities and differences that helped form a progressive enlightenment on gender equality towards women in politics within both countries. Though Sweden and Australia vary significantly within their demographics, similar ideologies were used when initiating women stances in the governing parliaments. WAYS IN WHICH ENGINEERS HAVE CONSIDERED THE IMPACT ON SOCIETY OF ORESUND BRIDGE (WONG MING MING) Relationship between Two Countries The Oresund Bridge was agreed to build after the Danish and Swedish governments signed the final agreement of building Oresund Bridge in year 1991. The considerations of the impact of Oresund Bridge were being made such as using this link to promote commuting and the exchange of culture between Copenhagen in Denmark and Malmo in Sweden (Oresundsbro Konsortiet 2008, p. 2). Engineers believed that culture exchange between Sweden and Denmark can make their relationship even closer by knowing each other's culture. For the culture of Sweden, Swedes normally are egalitarian, which means that Swedes are the person who supports the principle of equality for all people (Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary 2014). Swedes are humble and cannot accept boasting (Sweden–language, culture, customs and etiquette 2013). Swedes often give thanks and their behaviours are strongly balanced towards moderation. Swedes work hard but not too hard and they will go enjoy themselves without participating in something which is extreme. Also, due to the strong egalitarianism, competition is not encouraged in Sweden. Meanwhile in Denmark, the Danes are being called as the world's happiest people. Comparing The Electoral Systems Of Britain And Sweden The Electoral Systems of Britain and Sweden The quality of a democracy is regulated by the electoral system that awards seats in democratic assemblies to those seeking office. This paper will compare the electoral systems of the parliaments of the United Kingdom (herein called Britain) and Sweden in order to determine which country has the preferred electoral system. The quality to be measured is the fairness of democratic representation, which is to say, how properly the various public interests are represented and how much control voters have over their government. British voters have traditionally been motivated by party ideology when casting their vote, but some votes are cast for incumbents with favored personalities (Kavanagh: 125). The mechanics of such an electoral system have generally supported the domination of Britain?s parliament by two parties, allowing one party to form a governing majority on its own. Currently, the Labour party holds a majority of seats with the Conservatives in opposition. Historically speaking, though, at times party factions and regional interests have undermined the two–party system as well as the players that dominate it. In the early part of the twentieth century, the two– party system was dominated by the Conservatives and the Liberals (today known as the Liberal Democrats), though it was threatened by the Irish Nationalists. The 1920s saw a three–party system as the Liberals factionalized and the new Labour party solidly gained power, with the Labour party at times forming minority governments by entering coalitions with smaller parties. Since 1945, a two–party system has been maintained by the Conservative and Labour parties, with the Conservatives holding a majority for much of the twentieth century (Kavanagh: 140–72). Instead, it was mostly dismissed and forgotten. In fact, as long ago as the early 90s, the country was actually hit with a huge financial crisis. National debt was at an all–time high, and unemployment and government spending didn't fare much better. However, this financial crisis was just what the country needed to complete reinvent itself as one of the leading countries in the way of innovation. Today, most western countries look towards Sweden for inspiration when trying to stabilize their own economy and drive innovation forward. How does Sweden do it? The first step that Sweden took to get itself back on the right track was to develop strong reforms. These reforms included ensuring the budget was continually balanced and that spending was kept under control. They also established committees that were established to help ensure that these reforms were followed correctly. With these systems in place, it was much easier to focus on innovation than it was in the past. In the end, this helped Sweden develop a system that was strong, competitive and successful. One of the main things the country focuses on is exports. They have developed a strongly diverse set of products they export, which has also helped them stay successful in creating innovations in a variety of industries. This subject is widely debated, as there are plenty of healthcare systems out there. Nevertheless, the most desirable system for a given country will never be completely agreed upon. The United States has recently adopted Obamacare, which, like any other new system, has been subject to harsh scrutiny. The county councils must collect income taxes and provide hospitals and general practitioners, while the municipalities are responsible for providing municipal care. In a broad perspective, Sweden's healthcare system is simple, but the simplicity is not as important as how efficient and effective it is. After some months of tension and fear of war between the two neighbouring nations, negotiations between the two governments led to Norway's recognition by Sweden as an independent constitutional monarchy on 26 October 1905 Norwegian nationalistic aspirations in 1814 were frustrated by Sweden's victory in a brief war that resulted in Norway entering into a personal union with Sweden. The Norwegian constitution was largely kept untouched, allowing for an independent Norwegian state with its own parliament, judiciary, and executive powers. Over the years, a divergence of Norwegian and Swedish interests became apparent. When free trade between the countries was restricted in 1895 through the abolition of the interstate laws", the economic reasons for the continued union were also diminished. In early 1905, Christian Michelsen formed a coalition government consisting of liberals and conservatives, whose only stated objective was to establish a separate Norwegian corps of consuls. The law was passed by the Norwegian parliament.
