Marilyn Monroe Major Accomplishments
"If I'd observed all the rules I'd never have gone anywhere" Marilyn Monroe once famously said.
Over the course of the legacy unit we have learned about various figures that have left behind their
own legacies, good or bad. Then we were tasked with the job of choosing a single person and doing
the research about them. This was so that later we could write a speech and paper on what we
learned and apply the writing skills we had been working on. Marilyn Monroe stood out due to the
fact that she was a good person who struggled with the darker parts of herself progressively as her
life went on. Nevertheless, she still managed to achieve her dreams and inspire others to attain theirs
as well.

It is hard for a person to stay quiet when everyone knows your name, for Marilyn Monroe this was
the case; Monroe was everyone's new trend. Since her first breath Monroe was destined to have
fame and fortune, just from her looks. Life carried on for her in a less luxurious way then expected,
her story is essentially a reflection of Cinderella. As connections formed at a young age and talent
was already recognized, life kicked in like a rocket for Monroe from the moment she was born.
Doors of opportunity were constantly being opened for her. Singing Happy Birthday for JFK, and
being Hugh Hefner's first model are only things that Monroe can be responsible for (Jackson,
Denny). Marilyn Monroe's career may seem as if she made it all by herself; instead, she already had
strong connections to Hollywood through her mother's career, and the Kennedy's family name.
The iconic sex symbol of the 50's has history unlike any other Hollywood superstar. Marilyn
Monroe was born into an unstable family, and soon later given up for adoption. However, two points
don't add up. Her mother Gladys Pearl Baker was involved in the film industry during her
pregnancy with Monroe (Jackson, Denny). Why would a film star abandoned her soon to be
superstar daughter? The un–luxurious life of Norma Jeane Baker, a.k.a Marilyn Monroe, took place
in foster homes and oddly old "parents". Monroe was unclear that connections through Hollywood
were brewing as

The Death Of Marilyn Monroe
The famous Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her bed but was it suicide? It was a murder that was
unsolved at the time of the death and spread through the news to become one of the most talked
about murder mysteries. Was it really a mystery? Through an enormous amount of research and the
analysis and synthesis of the victim, crime scene, suspicious behavior, and evidence, it is clear that
the murderer has been identified. Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her bedroom from a possible
overdose on August 5, 1962. Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortenson in Los Angeles on
June 1, 1926. When she was younger; her mom was emotionally unstable and was frequently
confined to an asylum, so Marilyn was reared by a succession of foster parents and ... Show more

Marilyn Monroe's death, being only 36–years–old and murdered by an unknown victim, was very
shocking to many Americans. Upon completion of the report, it is clear that an examination of the
unresolved murder is necessary. No stone will be left unturned; no avenues left unexplored. To seek
justice for Marilyn Monroe and her family, an in–depth analysis must be conducted in order to break
down the data and identify a possible killer. The crime scene and how they found Monroe dead, in
her own bed, is an enormous indication of who actually killed her. The Saturday night before she
passed away, she did not go out with anyone, "By early next day she would be dead, found nude by
her housekeeper, face down on her bed, clutching a telephone receiver, an empty bottle of Nembutal
capsules at her side" ("Monroe's last day"). Her housekeeper, Mrs. Murray, could not open the door
so she immediately called Monroe's psychiatrist, Dr. Greenson, because her light was still on and
she was unaware of what was happening at the time. When Dr. Greenson arrived he had to take a
poker from the fireplace and smash the window and climb in Monroe 's room. Once Dr. Greenson
walked into Marilyn Monroe 's room he found her, "...nude on her bed, face down, with a telephone
in one hand" ("Monroe found dead"). She may have just hung up the phone with her doctor saying

The Marilyn Diptych Essay
The Marilyn Diptych The Marilyn Diptych is a very famous work of art by Andy Warhol. The
Marilyn Diptych was made in 1962, immediately after the actress's death, of oil, acrylic, and
silkscreen on enamel canvas. Although it looks like this piece is all cohesive, it is made of two
separate panels, each being 6'–10"x 4'–9". Warhol used the method of printing from a silkscreen
from a photograph of Monroe because it is easy to mass produce the fifty different versions of her
face. The Marilyn Diptych (Figure 1) by Andy Warhol appears to be depthless, plain, and uses
thoughtless repetition but there is a lot of hidden meaning and thought behind this work of art. Andy
Warhol was born on August 6, 1928, and was the youngest of three boys. His interest in art started
when he was taking free art classes at Carnegie Institute, which is now the Carnegie Museum of Art,
and when he was about nine years old he got his first camera and learned how to develop his photos
all by himself in his basement. When he got older he decided to go to ... Show more content on

The Marilyn Diptych is a very famous work of art by Andy Warhol that was made from a very
complicated process called silkscreen printing on an enamel canvas. This work of art appears to be
depthless, plain, and uses thoughtless repetition but there is much more to it than that. The repetition
was done on purpose so that the audience would examine the work of art as a whole. Warhol
intended for the repetition to represent a film strip because of Marilyn's movies, he wanted to make
a statement about the worlds current obsession with television and the affects it has had on the
world. Warhol intentionally made it look depthless to make her signature features as a sex symbol to
stand out. The colored and black and white sides individually hold a lot of symbolism and meaning,

Marilyn Monroe Theory Essay
Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe was all that we ever needed, an inspirational woman. Although she died over 50
years ago, she is still as much as a role model to what she was to young women in 1962.
When Marilyn was born
Marilyn was born on the 1st of June 1926. Her mother was Gladys Baker and her father was Martin
Edward Mortenson.
Marilyn's Death
Marilyn died on the 5th of August 1962. It was unsure about how she died. Because of that there are
three theories. The first theory is suicide. The cause of Marilyn's death was listed as a "probable
suicide," but they never managed to find a suicide note. The second theory is Accidental drug
interaction. It is said that she had developed an addiction to Nembutal so she chose to let her doctor
wear her off the medication by switching to chloral hydrate but some people think that she secretly
continued taking Nembutal. The third theory is murder. It suggests that an individual or group
murdered her to keep her silence as when she met president John.F.Kennedy and his brother Robert
there were rumours of them both having affairs with Marilyn, so they payed someone to kill her so
they could keep their reputation and their careers.
When you think of Marilyn Monroe you might think of her enticing performance of "Diamonds are
a girl's best friend" from the movie "Gentleman prefer blondes." For many women back then and
especially today she is much more than the dumb blondes she played in most of her movies. She
was a role model.
Her Family Life
The Marilyn we all know and love isn't really Marilyn Monroe. Her real name is Norma Jean
Mortenson. She was the girl who had been helplessly abandoned to a number of foster homes by her
mother and never even knew her father. Norma survived being smothered when she was 2 and when
she was 6 she was nearly raped. Later in her life she lived in an LA orphanage, where she earned 5
cents every month for her work in the kitchen. With that money she was forced to give 1 cent to the
nearby church every week.
Her Relationships
Out of the many relationships Marilyn had, her first marriage was with James Dougherty. She was
married to him from 1942 and then in 1946 they divorced. Her second marriage was with Joe
DiMaggio from 1954 to 1955. Her

Marilyn Monroe was abused as a girl and suffered alot, but did you know what evolved from all of
it? Marilyn Monroe was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson, later baptized as Norma Jeane Baker.
Marilyn was beautiful, talented, young, rich, everything she could possibly want. But behind that
happy lucky face, Marilyn was a different person. Marilyn was unsure, self destructive, and had a
disabling drug and man problems, she isn't very perfect as most people say.Marilyn was almost
smothered at two and nearly raped at six. At sixteen Marilyn worked in an aircraft, she was a
stewardess. It was her first job that she liked because she met and married a man she called Daddy.
Daddy decided to go to the military and Marilyn was discovered and started her modeling
career, with them going separate ways, divorced in 1946. No one knows Monroe's biological father.
Some say it was Gladys' second husband, Martin Mortensen. Gladys Baker Mortensen, mother of
Marilyn, was a film–cutter at RKO studios. She was alone and mentally ill. and was taken to a

independence. "You know, most people don't really know me." ~Marilyn Monroe. This quote is true

you never thought would be true. Never judge a book by it's cover, "My dinners at home are

Informative Speech On Marilyn Manson
When most people hear the name Marilyn Manson they think of a deranged guy devoted to demonic
ways of music. In fact, people tend to forget that Marilyn Manson is just a stage name. Marilyn
Manson was born Brian Hugh Warner on January 5th, 1969. Knowing who Brian is today you

Marilyn Monroe's case was never truly solved. Investigators scrambled to find a justification and
came to the conclusion that she committed suicide and let the public believe so. According to Baker,
Baker, & McNeil. (2012) if Monroe truly did commit suicide by pill overdose, they would have had
to have found pill residue in her stomach when doctors did the autopsy. However, they did not find
any residue of the pills, ruling out her potential suicide by overdosing on drugs. If Marilyn Monroe
did not commit suicide, she was murdered by Robert Kennedy on behalf of his jealousy of her
relationships with other men. Another explanation for him murdering her was that he was scared
that if the public found out about their affairs, it would ruin his public figure. According to Baker,

Among them sits the guest of honor in all his glory, President John F. Kennedy. All eyes are tuned

Birthday Mr. President" slip through her lips in a light breathy voice. To her family she is Norma
Jeane but to the world, she is Marilyn Monroe (Thomson, 2016).
She was a sex–symbol, a pinnacle for women, and an all–around icon. Marilyn's persona appealed

Marilyn didn't spend time with speech pathologists but instead with drama and vocal coaches
(Victor, 1999). These coaches helped her harness and control her stutter and instead take her
struggle and turn it into something positive. In the beginning of her career, Marilyn's voice was
described as a "tight squeak" (Victor, 1999). Through the guides of her vocal coaches the voice we
all know and recognize as Marilyn Monroe, was created. "To a large extent, the Marilyn voice of the
first half of her career, with its exaggerated clarity and staccato stressing of "d" and "t", was the
result of tutoring from Lytess" (Victor, 1999). Lytess encouraged her to lower her tone and from that
rose Marilyn's infamous breathy seductive timbre. It is believed that this change in how she speaks,
almost as if in character, is what "cured" Marilyn's stutter (Victor, 1999). The idea of modifying
ones tone, proves to be a successful method of therapy in the world of speech pathology– "Many of
the current therapies for teens and adults who stutter focus on helping them learn ways to minimize
stuttering when they speak, such as by speaking more slowly, regulating their breathing, or
gradually progressing from single–syllable responses to longer words and more complex sentences.

Marilyn Monroe Pros And Cons
Norma Jeane Mortenson: Marilyn Monroe in the Making Marilyn Monroe is considered to be one of
the biggest movie goddesses, and prime sex symbols to be alive in her time. Yet, she also wished to
be known as more than just a pretty face, but as a serious, talented actress (Owings). She was born
June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California with the name of Norma Jeane Mortenson and had endured
a difficult childhood growing up. Despite living in an orphanage, and her mother Gladys Baker in
and out of her life, Monroe managed to out weight the cons with the pros (Porter). Though having

Marilyn herself was a struggling starlet who had big dreams. She worked hard to attain her goals,
even if it meant that she had to go without eating to spend every dime she made on classes to get her
a "big break" in movies. She even showed a single minded dedication and much ambition to make
something of herself and do it all on her own without the help of "filthy rich" business men who
would rather her body than what she has to offer as an actress or a model (Winder). Monroe not only
endured the struggles of determination but during this time she even showed kind heartedness and
made anonymous donations to several different organizations and always made time for children.
She was not like others who allowed the fame to get to their heads. She always made sure to take
time and do the right things because she knew that everyone struggled with different issues and she
did not want others feeling alone. She knew exactly what it was like to have nothing and struggled
for the longest and wanted to stand up for what she believed in (Porter). Marilyn wanted nothing but
the best for everybody and equal rights, so every chance that she got she took and stood up for what

Marilyn Monroe : The Stereotypes Of Marilyn Cameron Monroe
You may have heard of the famous actress Marilyn Monroe. If so you would know that she was an
actress in the 1950s and 60s and acted in movies such as Men Prefer Blondes and Some Like it Hot.
In most of her movies, she played the smaller parts but even though her characters had little to say
she still put just as much emotion into them as the main characters had. Billy Wilder describes her
as an "an absolute genius as a comic actress". But during the time period of her career, most blonde
women were portrayed as dumb on ditsy. She was fully aware of how most people who didn't know
her, thought of her because in her last interview she exclaims, "Please don't make me a joke". What
are the Stereotypes? The common assumption that all blondes are unintelligent is actually causing
some negative effects. For example, it is affecting blondes confidence and their ability to publicly
speak. In an article by Huffington Post about a Ted Talk by Cameron Russell, it states, "First,
imagine yourself answering [...] a question in front of a live audience and video cameras. That's by
itself nerve–wracking, but on top of that, the threat of knowing that a large portion of that audience
will automatically think "dumb blonde" if you mess up is all the more likely to make you, well,
mess up". This stereotype puts immense pressure on blondes to never mess up even though people
of all hair colors mess up on a daily basis but they don't have to worry about being labeled dumb
every time they do mess up. Another negative of the stereotype is the effect it had on the workplace.
In an experiment done by Ohio State University, it concludes that "employers who believe the
beauty part of the myth" will most likely higher a blonde woman "to work in front–line positions"
where looks and personality are key. Also "employers [who believe] the myth that blondes are
dumb" will higher fewer blondes in a position where 'intelligence is more highly valued than looks".
These beliefs about blondes being dumber than other people are making it harder for blondes to be
confident about themselves and to go for what they want in the workforce. How Pop Culture is

The Legendary Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe's legend remains as the ultimate blonde bombshell and as one of the most
recognizable faces ever to grace the silver screen. Born June 1, 1926 she was baptized Norma Jean
Baker. Her turbulent youth was due to an absentee father and a mentally unstable mother. By 1933
she went to live with her mother's best friend, Grace McKee, and she was the first to give Norma
Jean the idea of becoming a movie star.
Despite her new found love of cinema and hollywood celebrities, her childhood continued to be
chaotic. After 1935 she moved through a number of foster homes, and she was even sexually
abused. At the end of 1942 Norma Jean married her first husband James Dougherty While he was
overseas fighting in World War II, Norma Jean got a factory job. Soon after a photograph of her at
work appeared in a military magazine and she began her modeling career.
She became a sought after model and her success caught the attention of an executive at 20th
Century Fox. He helped make Norma Jean a star by altering her appearance and changing her name
to prepare her for Hollywood. Marilyn Monroe was chosen as her name because of her resemblance
to Broadway actress Marilyn Miller and because Monroe had been her mother's maiden name.
Her acting career started with small roles. One of her first appearances was as a brunette in the Marx
Brothers film Love Happy. Her first substantial roles came in 1950 with The Asphalt Jungle and All

Marilyn Monroe Tragic Hero
The Tragedy of Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe is a timeless figure, known for her sensual yet innocent charm. Her platinum
blonde hair continues to be a popular trademark today, with other celebrities continuing to imitate
her. She is the image of Hollywood and American perfectibility. However, she was not just a beauty
queen who seemingly had the world wrapped around her finger. She was also a vulnerable woman,
who severely struggled with mental illnesses, neuroticism, and high expectations. Marilyn Monroe
is an epitome of a tragic hero, as she was the victim of a downfall caused by irreparable flaws.

These titles may sound flattering to some, and maybe at times she enjoyed them. But her restrictive
Hollywood image only seemed to add to her insecurity and troubles. The sexual glorification of
Monroe stems from the constant exploitation that she has described from her earlier days in the
business. While she both despised and played to this, "Marilyn Monroe would resent being typecast
as a not–too–smart sex symbol and would fight a very hard but ultimately losing battle to get the
public to believe that she was smarter (and less man–hungry) than the women she portrayed on the
silver screen" ("Ten Things You Might Not Know About Marilyn Monroe."). But why did a part of
her also accept this? Why did she have this overwhelming need to satisfy the same people who held
her down? She feared disappointing the public who put her on this pedestal and seeming imperfect.
She was said to wash her face up to 15 times a day in fear of blemishes and sweat ("Marilyn's
Beauty and Style."), and at the 1950s Academy Awards, she burst into tears. It seems that she failed
to give herself the love and appreciation that she needed. As a result, she mistakenly turned to the

The Death Of Marilyn Monroe
"Marilyn Monroe dies, pills blamed", which as you can see here is the headline for the Los Angeles
Times, August 6, 1962, 2 days after Marilyn Monroe's death and just one of many conspiracy
theories surrounding her death. With the an autopsy report providing no clear indication of what
happened in the early hours of August 5, it has left the door open for public debate and an outbreak
of conspiracies. Although her death occurred over half a century ago, it is still relevant and there are
operations still undergoing investigating what happened on that fateful night, where one of the most
inspirational women of our time came to her untimely death. As stated by Alison Lynch "In death,
Marilyn Monroe is every bit as fascinating as she was in life. And the mystery surrounding her final
hours has led to endless speculation – was it suicide, a cover–up or murder?"

There was no residue left inside her to think it was from the pills so it must have been from a lethal
injection. There are many theories to how Marilyn Monroe may have been murdered. Some people
think that Monroe's death was murder from John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy, (with whom
Marilyn supposedly have had affairs with), saying that she knew too much about the Kennedy
family and that she was going to announce the secrets publicly to the world, and Bobby Kennedy
was in Los Angeles that weekend. Fred Otash claimed that he had bugged Marilyn Monroe's room
and had heard her screams as Bobby Kennedy suffocated her to death. The other theory is that the
Kenney's sent the mafia to go murder her. The last one was that Dr. Greenson, her doctor, overdosed
her not knowing that she was already on other medication. I later found out that the writer of the
article had no background information which led me to believe that he or she was a fraud. If it was
from lethal injection then why wasn't any needle marks found? I started to believe another theory
that Marilyn Monroe died by a dose of enema. Supposedly she was a fan of enema, but to perform
the enema dose there must have been another person to give the lethal dose to her. So people
believed it was her doctor, Dr. Greenson. I believed this, until I found out that the article was written

Marilyn was about seven years of age, she was tossed around different foster care homes and

Marilyn Monroe Essay
" I am not interested in money. I just want to be wonderful"
Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jeane Baker on June 1, 1926. Her mother's name was Gladys
Baker Mortensen. Baker being the name of her other two children and Mortensen the name of her
last husband who disappeared just months after their marriage in 1924. Although Edward Mortensen
was Gladys' husband at the time of Norma's birth, he was not her father. No one knows for sure who
her father was, but it was believed that it was Gladys' lover C. Stanley Gifford .
At just six months old, Norma Jeane was placed in a foster home because her mother was placed in
an insane asylum for her mental breakdowns. In 1935, at age nine, she entered an orphanage and ...

She agreed and without knowing it, Norma Jeane Dougherty was on her way (Andersen 1994).
"All little girls should be told they are pretty, even if they aren't."
She was pretty all right and graced the covers of thirty–three magazines in 1945. When her husband
returned from war in 1946, he found that there was no room for him and his wife divorced him in
Reno in June of 1946. That same year she began doing pin–up and cheesecake pictures for covers of
magazines. She had a photo session with Andre de Dienes and he asked Norma Jeane to marry him,
but she was recently divorced, free, and independent. Nevertheless, he got her on covers of major
magazines. Shortly after this, in July 1946, she got a short contract with Twentieth Century–Fox.
Then she changed her name to Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn for the musical star Marilyn Miller and
Monroe from her mother's maiden name.
After six months of acting classes and dance lessons, she was finally told to report for work on a
film. This film being The Shocking Miss Pilgrim which was released in 1947. After that, Marilyn
played many small and unimportant roles. When Marilyn's contract came up for renewal in August
1947, the studio decided they did not want to sign her. It was said that her relationship with seventy–
year–old Joseph Schenck, co–founder of T.C.F. had something to do

Marilyn Monroe Major Accomplishments

  • 1. Marilyn Monroe Major Accomplishments "If I'd observed all the rules I'd never have gone anywhere" Marilyn Monroe once famously said. Over the course of the legacy unit we have learned about various figures that have left behind their own legacies, good or bad. Then we were tasked with the job of choosing a single person and doing the research about them. This was so that later we could write a speech and paper on what we learned and apply the writing skills we had been working on. Marilyn Monroe stood out due to the fact that she was a good person who struggled with the darker parts of herself progressively as her life went on. Nevertheless, she still managed to achieve her dreams and inspire others to attain theirs as well. On June 1, 1926 Norma Jeane Mortenson was born in Los ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is still being featured in campaigns like Sexy Hair and with a slogan like,"Styles Change. Sexy Forever." Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera, and any regular person have used her signature look at one point, bleach blonde hair and bright red lipstick. She has left so many little legacies such as her hair and makeup, her ability to amaze people while on screen, and her feisty attitude off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Informative Essay On Marilyn Monroe Jacy Pringle Mrs. Peter 11th LA October 9, 2017 It is hard for a person to stay quiet when everyone knows your name, for Marilyn Monroe this was the case; Monroe was everyone's new trend. Since her first breath Monroe was destined to have fame and fortune, just from her looks. Life carried on for her in a less luxurious way then expected, her story is essentially a reflection of Cinderella. As connections formed at a young age and talent was already recognized, life kicked in like a rocket for Monroe from the moment she was born. Doors of opportunity were constantly being opened for her. Singing Happy Birthday for JFK, and being Hugh Hefner's first model are only things that Monroe can be responsible for (Jackson, Denny). Marilyn Monroe's career may seem as if she made it all by herself; instead, she already had strong connections to Hollywood through her mother's career, and the Kennedy's family name. The iconic sex symbol of the 50's has history unlike any other Hollywood superstar. Marilyn Monroe was born into an unstable family, and soon later given up for adoption. However, two points don't add up. Her mother Gladys Pearl Baker was involved in the film industry during her pregnancy with Monroe (Jackson, Denny). Why would a film star abandoned her soon to be superstar daughter? The un–luxurious life of Norma Jeane Baker, a.k.a Marilyn Monroe, took place in foster homes and oddly old "parents". Monroe was unclear that connections through Hollywood were brewing as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Death Of Marilyn Monroe The famous Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her bed but was it suicide? It was a murder that was unsolved at the time of the death and spread through the news to become one of the most talked about murder mysteries. Was it really a mystery? Through an enormous amount of research and the analysis and synthesis of the victim, crime scene, suspicious behavior, and evidence, it is clear that the murderer has been identified. Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her bedroom from a possible overdose on August 5, 1962. Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortenson in Los Angeles on June 1, 1926. When she was younger; her mom was emotionally unstable and was frequently confined to an asylum, so Marilyn was reared by a succession of foster parents and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marilyn Monroe's death, being only 36–years–old and murdered by an unknown victim, was very shocking to many Americans. Upon completion of the report, it is clear that an examination of the unresolved murder is necessary. No stone will be left unturned; no avenues left unexplored. To seek justice for Marilyn Monroe and her family, an in–depth analysis must be conducted in order to break down the data and identify a possible killer. The crime scene and how they found Monroe dead, in her own bed, is an enormous indication of who actually killed her. The Saturday night before she passed away, she did not go out with anyone, "By early next day she would be dead, found nude by her housekeeper, face down on her bed, clutching a telephone receiver, an empty bottle of Nembutal capsules at her side" ("Monroe's last day"). Her housekeeper, Mrs. Murray, could not open the door so she immediately called Monroe's psychiatrist, Dr. Greenson, because her light was still on and she was unaware of what was happening at the time. When Dr. Greenson arrived he had to take a poker from the fireplace and smash the window and climb in Monroe 's room. Once Dr. Greenson walked into Marilyn Monroe 's room he found her, "...nude on her bed, face down, with a telephone in one hand" ("Monroe found dead"). • 4. The Marilyn Diptych Essay The Marilyn Diptych The Marilyn Diptych is a very famous work of art by Andy Warhol. The Marilyn Diptych was made in 1962, immediately after the actress's death, of oil, acrylic, and silkscreen on enamel canvas. Although it looks like this piece is all cohesive, it is made of two separate panels, each being 6'–10"x 4'–9". Warhol used the method of printing from a silkscreen from a photograph of Monroe because it is easy to mass produce the fifty different versions of her face. The Marilyn Diptych (Figure 1) by Andy Warhol appears to be depthless, plain, and uses thoughtless repetition but there is a lot of hidden meaning and thought behind this work of art. Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928, and was the youngest of three boys. His interest in art started when he was taking free art classes at Carnegie Institute, which is now the Carnegie Museum of Art, and when he was about nine years old he got his first camera and learned how to develop his photos all by himself in his basement. When he got older he decided to go to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Marilyn Diptych is a very famous work of art by Andy Warhol that was made from a very complicated process called silkscreen printing on an enamel canvas. This work of art appears to be depthless, plain, and uses thoughtless repetition but there is much more to it than that. The repetition was done on purpose so that the audience would examine the work of art as a whole. Warhol intended for the repetition to represent a film strip because of Marilyn's movies, he wanted to make a statement about the worlds current obsession with television and the affects it has had on the world. Warhol intentionally made it look depthless to make her signature features as a sex symbol to stand out. The colored and black and white sides individually hold a lot of symbolism and meaning, but also work together to make a bold statement about pop culture and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Why Is Marilyn Monroe A Mystery Red lipstick. Bombshell blonde hair. Holding down a white dress. Iconic. Marilyn Monroe was icon known by people all over the world. She was widely known for her iconic picture of her holding down the front of her white dress when the wind blew up the grate. She quickly became the sex symbol of the 60's. But her death is still a mystery. The mystery of Marilyn Monroe is surrounded by two theories: the Kennedy family had her killed or she died of a suicidal drug overdose. Marilyn Monroe was an internationally known actress and star whose actions and whereabouts were always known, but the death of the star is still a mystery. Even the time of her death is unknown. There is no solid evidence what time she died. At 11 p.m August 4, Monroe was supposedly found dead by her publicist Arthur Jacobs. But Marilyn's doctor wasn't called to the house until 3:40 a.m, 10 minutes after she was discovered at 3:30 a.m by her housekeeper (Newton 245). When the found Monroe she was "lying face down, naked on her bed with her phone in her hand" ("Marilyn Monroe is Found Dead"). She was "an abused alcoholic" with severe depression, so it wouldn't be completely out of character (Southwell 40). The evidence all points to a drug overdose. SHe was found with "empty bottles of depression pills" all over her room ("Marilyn Monroe"). In an autopsy report done on her, a fatal amount of sedatives were in her system ("Marilyn Monroe"). Some of those sedatives being chloral hydrate and nembutal in her liver (Newton 245). People weren't completely surprised to hear this. Marilyn had "overdosed on multiple occasions before and had to be resuscitated a few times" ("The death of Marilyn Monroe"). So, people really weren't taken back by the fact she overdosed. • 6. Marilyn Monroe Theory Essay Marilyn Monroe Marilyn Monroe was all that we ever needed, an inspirational woman. Although she died over 50 years ago, she is still as much as a role model to what she was to young women in 1962. When Marilyn was born Marilyn was born on the 1st of June 1926. Her mother was Gladys Baker and her father was Martin Edward Mortenson. Marilyn's Death Marilyn died on the 5th of August 1962. It was unsure about how she died. Because of that there are three theories. The first theory is suicide. The cause of Marilyn's death was listed as a "probable suicide," but they never managed to find a suicide note. The second theory is Accidental drug interaction. It is said that she had developed an addiction to Nembutal so she chose to let her doctor wear her off the medication by switching to chloral hydrate but some people think that she secretly continued taking Nembutal. The third theory is murder. It suggests that an individual or group murdered her to keep her silence as when she met president John.F.Kennedy and his brother Robert there were rumours of them both having affairs with Marilyn, so they payed someone to kill her so they could keep their reputation and their careers. When you think of Marilyn Monroe you might think of her enticing performance of "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" from the movie "Gentleman prefer blondes." For many women back then and especially today she is much more than the dumb blondes she played in most of her movies. She was a role model. Her Family Life The Marilyn we all know and love isn't really Marilyn Monroe. Her real name is Norma Jean Mortenson. She was the girl who had been helplessly abandoned to a number of foster homes by her mother and never even knew her father. Norma survived being smothered when she was 2 and when she was 6 she was nearly raped. Through the guides of her vocal coaches the voice we all know and recognize as Marilyn Monroe, was created. It is believed that this change in how she speaks, almost as if in character, is what "cured" Marilyn's stutter (Victor, 1999). The idea of modifying ones tone, proves to be a successful method of therapy in the world of speech pathology– "Many of the current therapies for teens and adults who stutter focus on helping them learn ways to minimize stuttering when they speak, such as by speaking more slowly, regulating their breathing, or gradually progressing from single–syllable responses to longer words and more complex sentences. • 24. Marilyn Monroe : The Stereotypes Of Marilyn Cameron Monroe You may have heard of the famous actress Marilyn Monroe. If so you would know that she was an actress in the 1950s and 60s and acted in movies such as Men Prefer Blondes and Some Like it Hot. In most of her movies, she played the smaller parts but even though her characters had little to say she still put just as much emotion into them as the main characters had. Billy Wilder describes her as an "an absolute genius as a comic actress". But during the time period of her career, most blonde women were portrayed as dumb on ditsy. She was fully aware of how most people who didn't know her, thought of her because in her last interview she exclaims, "Please don't make me a joke". What are the Stereotypes? The common assumption that all blondes are unintelligent is actually causing some negative effects. For example, it is affecting blondes confidence and their ability to publicly speak. In an article by Huffington Post about a Ted Talk by Cameron Russell, it states, "First, imagine yourself answering [...] a question in front of a live audience and video cameras. That's by itself nerve–wracking, but on top of that, the threat of knowing that a large portion of that audience will automatically think "dumb blonde" if you mess up is all the more likely to make you, well, mess up". This stereotype puts immense pressure on blondes to never mess up even though people of all hair colors mess up on a daily basis but they don't have to worry about being labeled dumb every time they do mess up. Another negative of the stereotype is the effect it had on the workplace. In an experiment done by Ohio State University, it concludes that "employers who believe the beauty part of the myth" will most likely higher a blonde woman "to work in front–line positions" where looks and personality are key. Also "employers [who believe] the myth that blondes are dumb" will higher fewer blondes in a position where 'intelligence is more highly valued than looks". These beliefs about blondes being dumber than other people are making it harder for blondes to be confident about themselves and to go for what they want in the workforce. The sexual glorification of Monroe stems from the constant exploitation that she has described from her earlier days in the business. While she both despised and played to this, "Marilyn Monroe would resent being typecast as a not–too–smart sex symbol and would fight a very hard but ultimately losing battle to get the public to believe that she was smarter (and less man–hungry) than the women she portrayed on the silver screen" ("Ten Things You Might Not Know About Marilyn Monroe."). But why did a part of her also accept this? Why did she have this overwhelming need to satisfy the same people who held her down? She feared disappointing the public who put her on this pedestal and seeming imperfect. She was said to wash her face up to 15 times a day in fear of blemishes and sweat ("Marilyn's Beauty and Style."), and at the 1950s Academy Awards, she burst into tears. It seems that she failed to give herself the love and appreciation that she needed. As a result, she mistakenly turned to the camera for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was no residue left inside her to think it was from the pills so it must have been from a lethal injection. There are many theories to how Marilyn Monroe may have been murdered. Some people think that Monroe's death was murder from John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy, (with whom Marilyn supposedly have had affairs with), saying that she knew too much about the Kennedy family and that she was going to announce the secrets publicly to the world, and Bobby Kennedy was in Los Angeles that weekend. The last one was that Dr. Greenson, her doctor, overdosed her not knowing that she was already on other medication. I later found out that the writer of the article had no background information which led me to believe that he or she was a fraud. • 39. When you think of Marilyn Monroe you might think of her enticing performance of "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" from the movie "Gentleman prefer blondes."
