Small Businesses Affected by Financial Crisis
Small Business affected by Financial Crisis
The purpose of this research study is to review how small businesses are affected by economic crisis, to assess the effects of marketing strategies on
business performance and to identify strategies that can help small businesses grow in troubled times. The following 5 literature reviews attempt to
demonstrate and support the hypothesis. In a research article by Jeffries (2011) stated how there are four ways to bounce back after a recession. The
four recommended strategies to help your business bounce back after a recession are innovation, looking into government programs and partnerships,
work on developing future businesses and rethinking how you do business. It is hypothesized that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were also determined to improve the current economy. The research article states 3 key components that any small business owner can
incorporate to improve the success of their company quicker. Business owners should create intermediate products e.g. newspapers and or free
consultations to bring in their customers. Secondly they should survey their customers to analyze how their products are being used. And last, a
loyalty program should be created to reward their customers for buying and using their products. It is hypothesized that small businesses emerge with
strength to overcome the economy because they are better able to respond to their customer needs. In the research article by Krell (2011), the Small
Business Administration Office of Advocacy defines a small business as an independent business having fewer than 500 employees. In the article it
mentions that successful small business leaders tend to treat risk as a two–sided coin. Meaning that they will identify and mitigate threats on one side
while seizing and exploiting opportunities on the other side. Due to the economic crisis, there has never been more threats or opportunities confronting
small businesses.
The study shows that small business sales are weak because of the decline in optimism in business owners. There is uneasiness among small business
owners about future opportunities. Since the economy is not growing

The Application Of Erp Management Of Small Businesses
Introduction
For years, small businesses have been looking for solutions to monitor the overall system of operation. Inevitably, if a business is developing and
growing, it would reach a point where the actual information technology (IT) infrastructure becomes obsolete. For Forrest Burnson (2015), when a
business attends that point, the first move is to renovate the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. ERP supports management in monitoring the
critical operations as sales, accounting, human resources, supply chain management, customer relationship management and more.
When it comes the time to upgrade a system or implement one for the first time, choosing an ERP system is not a stress–free decision. The software
itself is expensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1. Information Technology in Management
During the last three decades, the role of computer in the business world has changed considerably. Advances in technology and information processing
have paved the path of management of a different structure. The entrance of information technology in business has helped automate some operational
activities; nowadays, information system supports more levels of management and facilitates strategic planning.
In the 1960s and 1970s, the main issue was the management of huge amounts of data. It was the era where management application automates
repetitive operational processes. At that time, the technological market was dominated by large manufactures that centralize the processing power. For
Thomas Haigh (2010), the 1970s have launched the debut of a new era in business by seeing the invention of the ENIAC; this pioneering moment has
changed forever the future.
In the 1980s, the IT market opens to small businesses. This period allows to a large number of users the access to data through various applications that
permit them to respond to specific needs. Thomas Haigh mentioned (2010) that age was dominated by the growing importance according to personal
computers; everybody wanted to possess their own computer.
The 1990s was accentuated by the booming of personal computers, automation system to manage enterprises, and the explosion of telecommunications
and networks. The main challenge was the sharing of

Human Resource Management in Small Businesses
Human Resource Management (HRM) is the terminology used to illustrate formal systems devised for the management of people within an
organization. It is the method of managing an organization or company that is directly related to the employees of that particular organization. The
success of a business often rely heavily on the performance of managing human resource. Maximizing the desires and benefits of an organization and
helping a business grow by rewarding employees to help motivate and push them in their performance is one of the main aim of HRM. By doing this,
it will have a positive impact on both the company and it's entire organization.
The management of people in an organization is an important factor of the HRM. This principle of HRM is all about how people act and behave in a
formal setting. Modern human resource management is guided by a few main principles.
One of the most dominant factor is the fact that human resources are the most valuable assets of an organization. Another important principle,
expressed by Ashly Pinnington in her book 'Human Resource Management Ethics and Employment', is that "a succesful business is more likely to be
achieved if the personal polices and

Small Businesses Are Essential For The Growth Of Any Economy
Background:
Small businesses are essential for the growth of any economy since they are considered as building blocks. They can be equated to stem cells in the
human body that have the ability to self–generate and differentiate into various structural forms. Small businesses can be established to cut across
industries, countries, and communities. One of the primary roles of small businesses is the creation of employment for large numbers of people in
society. In the United States (US), small businesses are estimated to create jobs for approximately 64 percent of the population with most of them
having less than 500 employees. In other countries like Australia, small businesses are classified as those having less than 20 employees. ... Show more

Importantly, strategies play a significant role in the growth of small businesses. This is because they offer a company a direction and come up with the
way through which the goals can be achieved. However, early research indicates that small businesses do not take into consideration the role played by
strategy in ensuring that their growth is attained. Moreover, much of the existing literature emphasizes large businesses entities with no explicit
theoretical frameworks explaining the management of small businesses. The results of the studies confirm the relevance of the subject and the need to
conduct more research on this topic to develop the strategies that will offer small businesses guidance and direction on the various development
strategies.
Problem Statement:
Business growth relies on the strategies that are applied in production and marketing of products. Managers should set goals and the timeframe within
which the goals should be achieved. This can be done only if there is sufficient knowledge regarding the market. Therefore, it is important that adequate
research on growth strategies for small businesses is carried out. Currently, there is limited knowledge about small businesses which can be justified by
the small level of interest, inadequate economic data, and the assumption that small businesses do not use growth strategies.
It is important to note that small businesses working with

Business Financing For Small Businesses Essay
Small Business Loans
Starting a business requires capital so as to run and steer the business to profitability. There are many sources of financing tailored to meet the needs of
start–ups and small businesses. Business financing usually varies depending on factors such as source of funds and the size and type of business. The
process of securing funds can also be problematic for most start–ups and small business because of the unwillingness of most traditional banks to
provide funds to small borrowers. Here are some of the main non–banking financing options for startups and small businesses:
Venture capitalists– most venture capitalists are focused on specific growth industries. For this reason, small businesses that are making money can
tap into this form of financing to expand their businesses into the next phase of growth. Besides capital financing, venture capitalist also provide
crucial business insights and leads to business owners. For example, a business owner can be advised if the product or service he or she wants to sell
will be a success or failure. Most venture capitalist who lend money to small businesses offer short–term to mid–term borrowing of between 3 to 5
years.
Grants – startups that are keen on research can apply for grants from governments and willing investors. However, grant recipients must meet all the
laid down developmental and research goals. In most cases, the ideas advanced by such entities must be viable to move to the next phase of

effects their campaign promises will have on small businesses. This is important to me as a small business owner and I feel that their views on part of
the aspects do not differ as significantly as they claim, but some aspects do differ drastically.
Donald Trump has promised a sweeping tax cut of fifteen percent according to his website. (Donald J. Trump Campaign, 2016) "Mr. Trump's plan
would eliminate the disparity between the way large corporations and small businesses are treated under the code and all businesses would be taxed at
a substantially lower rate. Those reforms would encourage more small business investment, job creation, and economic growth." stated Juanitta
Duggan President of the NFIB. (NFIB, Contact Kelly Klass, 2016) Donald Trump's plan is one that many economists support when viewing it from the
small business aspect. He has now stated that he wants to increase the minimum wage now. In November 2015, he stated that he would leave it
according to the NFIB website per the Washington Examiner, but later in the same article it is stated that he will increase the minimum wage to
something that one can live off of. (NFIB Protecting the Future of Small Businesses, 2016) He does state per the Washington Examiner though that

Small Business Administration : Small Businesses
Introduction
Small Businesses
The Small Business Administration defines small business as a business with 500 employees or less. Small businesses are well known and
acknowledged worldwide as important contributors to economic development and job creation. They also play a big role in the general health and
welfare of economies, both nationally and internationally. The small business sector represents a statistically significant proportion of the world
economy. (William Gale and Samuel Brown 2013) The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) reported that small businesses represent 99.7
percent of all employer firms. Small businesses have paid 44 percent of the total United States private payroll, and generated 64 percent of new jobs
since 1995, according to the SBA. Small businesses contribute to local economies by bringing growth and innovation to the community in which the
business is established. Small businesses also help stimulate economic growth by providing employment opportunities to people who may not be
employable by larger corporations. Small businesses tend to attract talent who invent new products or implement new solutions for existing ideas.
Larger businesses also often benefit from small businesses within the same local community, as many large corporations depend on small businesses
for the completion of various business functions through outsourcing.

Technology is developing at rapidly. As a result, online videos are becoming a modern way for customers to communicate. Today customers are very
keen to get the information but they want to get quickly, they do not want to spend much time for searching on the web page. It is also difficult for
customers to read the whole page until the end or click through other relevant pages for information. On the other hand, once they start watching a
video clip, customer are likely to view it to the end than they are to read a whole page, which gives a better possibility to engage them and thereby
gets the message across, describes in PC World(Poor,2009). The study, released in Mashable, Meg (2013) reports that one in three million watch online

Evaluate how networking can mitigate the issues small–business owners face regarding isolation so they can become more innovative
Some of the problems that small businesses face include marketing, inflexibility, and employees. Small business owners often confuse marketing with
advertising. Market refers to the people whom the business would like to target with their product or service. Majority of the business owners do not
realize the importance of finding their niche market, which makes their target market to be very broad. Networking with other small business owners
who have managed to succeed in their business would provide the business owner with invaluable insights. The business owner does not need to
network with others in the same industry. By networking, the business owner would better understand how to narrow down and focus on their target
market.
Business owners who refuse to let go of their ideas when things are not working usually end up failing. A business owner should always be prepared to
attempt different ideas to establish which one would work ADDIN EN.CITE Bessant2011115(Bessant & Tidd, 2011)1151156Bessant, J.Tidd,

The Congress has the authority to impose requirements for the federal procurement policies. Through the acquisition process, the government procures
goods and services from diverse players. The process consists of three phases that are, acquisition planning and need recognition, contract formation and
contract administration. Federal acquisition regulation (FAR) regulates the activities of the government in the procurement process. The system does
not regulate the activities of the private sectors, but it affects the operation of private firms incorporated into the federal government by way of
solicitation and reference of contracts. Congress, on the other hand, imposes requirements on private sectors whereby, agencies of the government
obtain goods and services from private individuals or sectors. One of these authorities comes to be when congress exercises its mandate by promoting
subcontracting and contracting with small business entities (Columba, Gambacorta & Mistrulli, 2010). Declaration of these measures by congress
ensures that small business entity gets a chance to contract with government agencies. Congress should aid, assist, protect, and counsel small business

A Brief Note On Fraud And Small Businesses
Victims – Fraud in Small Businesses, 2016).
Both large and small companies require a certain amount of protection from fraudulent acts. To be naive in thinking that fraud would never occur
within a company would be reckless. There are three key objectives when operating a business, whether large or small. These objectives include
prevention, detection, and response, and should be implemented into every companies operations. When exploring preventative techniques, there a
seven recommendations made by professionals to reduce the most often seen attacks of small business fraud and cybercrime.
Most importantly a company should protect their assets, specifically their credit cards and bank accounts. Credit cards and bank accounts is a
common source of fraud and should be recognized as the most important advice to adhere to (Beesley, 2013, para. 5).Professionals recommend
"separating your personal banking and credit cards from your business accounts – this will ensure fraudsters don't get their hands on all your money.
This will also make it easier to track your business expenses and report deductions on your tax return" (Beesley, 2013, para. 5). It is also recommended
that credit cards are not shared with employees within the company. There are many advancements in technology that allow for reduced use of having

Are Small Businesses Dependent On The Presence Of The Owner?
Dilemma 6
Are small businesses dependent on the presence of the owner?
There are plenty of small business arising in the market. But does the success of the busssiness rely solely upon the owners? Can they not trust their
employees to carry out the task needed in order to keep the business running properly? This is the question we will be addressing in this dilemma. is
it really necessary for the owners to be on the premise at all times? Are personality cults created in small businesses? Is it possible for customers to
create a personality cult around the owners of a business? How might the owner go about reducing customer' dependency upon the presence and/ or
personality of the owner and leading customers to depend more on the business itself?
First up is why does it seem to be necessary for the owners to be on the premises all the time? Why is it that many of the owners find it necessary to
be on the premises of their business at all times? Even though firms later employ other workers, the management style and personality of the owner
seem to be necessary to the survival of the firm. But why is that? I think as small businesses develop their little ventures they put in so much time
and effort to it as they grow, that customer have grown fond of the service those to people provide overall. They understand and love what their
doing and get the most of doing what they do. What I'm trying to say here is that people tend to be treated in a specific way by one person and

The Financial Strategies Of Women Owned Small Businesses
Premise: The Financial Strategies of Women–Owned Small Businesses in Florida
Problem Statement The accessibility of businesses through social media and the web have made many entrepreneurs able to reach consumers
throughout the world they would otherwise not be able to do business with. Women have often found themselves underperforming in the workforce and
as traditional small business owners in comparison to similarly employed or self–employed men (Huarng et al., 2012). However, there has been little
research investigating the extent to which these new social media, web, and digital marketing technologies and their strategies benefit women
entrepreneurs of already profitable small businesses in comparison to men who employ similar strategies. A descriptive quantitative study is needed to
investigate the use of social media, web, and digital marketing technologies in the businesses of successful women entrepreneurs in comparison to
similarly successful men entrepreneurs by studying the effects of their digital strategy by concentrating on their digital analytical data on similar
digital and social media platforms and measuring that data. This study plans to provide data that will help determine whether profitable small

Why Are Small Businesses Important To The US Economy
Charli, because the percentage of representation of business in the US is represented by small businesses in America is so high, small businesses are
detrimental to the success of the US economy. Small business contributes to the local economies and brings growth to communities. Small businesses
also provide a substantial number of jobs for people within communities. Small businesses such as computer shops, barber salons, some restaurants and
service stations are small businesses within the community that provide jobs to people within its community. Just because an organization starts out as
a small organization, it does not mean that an organization will always be a small organization.
Small businesses are independently owned, for profit businesses which employees no more than 500 employees and are not dominant in its
competitive area. Small Businesses are critical for the US economy because more than 99 percent of businesses in the US fall under the small business
category (Farrell, Hirt & Farrell, 2009). This is clearly why small businesses are important for the US economy because of its percentage make up for

Small Businesses Are The Heart Of The United State Economy
Small businesses are the heart of the United State economy. There are 28 million small businesses in America and count for more than 54% of sales
(Small business trends, n.d.). Many of those businesses are started by entrepreneurs who are willing to take risks and develop their visions and dreams
of owning a business in today's competitive market. That was the case when Victoria Carolina Pocasangre opened Pocasangre Olivia Dental, a small
dental practice in the heart of Clovis, California five years ago.
A long held common belief has been that small businesses fail within the first year of opening and most close down within five years. According to

History and Background
Dr. Victoria Carolina Pocasangre is a first generation immigrant from El Salvador, who came to America with the dream achieving success and
prosperity through hard work and determination. Part of that dream came true the day she opened, Pocasangre Olivia Dental in fall of 2010. Since the
opening of the office, Dr. Pocasangre has faced some the same challenges that many small business owners first starting out. The most challenging task
of any small business owner is trying to make their business profitable, while balancing all the responsibility of the business on their own.
In the past five years Pocasangre Olivia Dental has faced closure too many times to count. The reason the business has survived, was partially due to
Dr. Pocasangre, strong commitment and tireless dedication to make it work beyond all odds. Dr. Pocasangre, managed to hold the business together
solely on the quality of the dentistry and the staff's ability to work with alongside the chaos and unpredictability of the daily operations of the
business. As a single dentist practice over the past five years, Dr. Pocasangre has been the only full time

Small Business Administration : Small Businesses
Introduction
Small Business

They help in intensifying competition with the help of technology they master in increasing productivity and thus contributing in the development of
the country, followed by economic growth.(Dr. Sangya Shrivastava 2013) Entrepreneurship has been given much emphasis by organizations and
governments in recent years. It acts as a vehicle for small businesses. We can see the increasing level of economic development when more of the
population gets involved in entrepreneurship which is basically self–employment. Entrepreneurship plays a critical role in the development of the
economy as this is the key contributor to innovativeness and product improvement. It is one of the important ingredients to the creation of new
employments and in the building of communities in ways of offering them jobs. By contributing to local charities, taking part in local business,
investing in projects in communities, and creating and participating in different networks in entrepreneurship, they build up robust communities which
contribute to the community development. Governments have struggled to develop policies which will enhance entrepreneurship by understanding the
critical difference existing between small business owners and entrepreneurship. At the same time, a misconception about entrepreneurs and where
entrepreneurs can be found can also help the local people to create the right picture of entrepreneurship and thus become aggressive and contribute to

Introduction
As a Salon owner I have been asked to come to Creative Styles Salon which is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia to provide a consultation and
training and also to create a comprehensive training proposal for the Salon. As you can see a small business such as a hair stylist/salon can use social
media and digital marketing to increase brand awareness and grow a loyal following by creating, curating, and sharing content as well as engaging in
meaningful conversation with their audience which in turn can lead to future growth and sales. The power of networking has long been known by
business and now it is time to apply that same thinking in the digital space in order for small business to compete against larger outlet stores. When
used properly digital marketing and social media can be a great equalizer and while not free as time is needed to not only apply the methodology but
needed for learning and tools may need to be purchased the alternative is to do nothing in hopes that digital fades away but more than likely a brand
failing to use digital techniques will most likely disappear. A business needs to think of their digital

Stop Burdening Small Businesses
Stop Burdening Small Businesses
As the foundation of the U.S. economy, small businesses employ 50 percent of the U.S. population. In 2010 the U.S. Census reported 27.9 million
small businesses categorized by size (20–499 employees). Accounting for 64 percent of the net new jobs created between 1993 and 2011 and since the
recent recession, from mid–2009 to 2011, small firms accounted for 67 percent of the net new jobs ("Employment Statistics | SBA.gov," 2014).
Unfortunately, rising costs and inefficient economic policy threaten the basic building block of our economy. This ordinance further compounds the
economy's sluggish recovery. Repelling this ordinance is the first step towards removing unnecessary financial burdens.
Rising Costs
The cost of operating a small business is at an all time high. Squeezed from every angle the biggest contributor of jobs and wages is forced to contain
hiring, offer lower wages, and reduce benefits. At the core, increases in oil, commodities, and utilities force small businesses to absorb cost while
simultaneously passing marginal price increases to consumers. Although marginal, the price increases hurt the consumer and producer. Producers fail
to adequately cover cost and consumers still cannot afford the product or service. This ebb and flow contributes to a sluggish, stagnant economy
attempting to recover.

Small Businesses In The 1800s
Starting in 1776, the United States was born a nation, which was run only by small businesses. Small businesses were made up of one to about fifty
people and production was slow due to a lack of technology and capital. All small businesses were done by hand labor, which could take weeks to
produce a product for the consumers. Many small businesses only had one specialty that they were focusing on producing because of such slow
production and not enough money to produce several different products. Most small businesses were low supply with a high demand that raised prices
high so only higher–class people could afford their goods. This created a demand for bigger business expansions so that more products could be
produced faster and cheaper. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the civil war in the mid 1800's demand for products increased and the only way to fill the high demands were to create big businesses, which
created more jobs and allowing companies to produce more products at a lower price. Businesses grew because of high demand so companies were
able to get better technology to put out goods faster and they had the capital to do so because of consumers were willing paying for what they want.
The U.S. started out by running on small businesses but later grew on big businesses with higher supply to fill all consumers high demands making
profits like never before. In the early 1800's small businesses were a big part of the United States history. Businesses were small because they served a
small market of people, with many small businesses owed by several different companies producing products in many areas. All small businesses were

marketing.

Sprawl and Small Businesses Essay
Sprawl and Small Businesses
During the past 15 years, I have seen my once–rural hometown of Washington Township transform into a maze of single
–family housing developments
and strip malls. This type of growth has not been gentle on the local economy, especially small businesses. Stores such as the mom and pop hardware
store, a local mainstay for many decades, have been forced out of business by the construction of two Home Depots and a Lowe's within a two–mile
radius of the town's main street. This negative aspect of sprawl has been a trend that has repeated itself nationwide in recent years.
Mega chain stores, or big boxes, are a phenomenon that has spread all over the country, and has exploded in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They thrive on duplicating these qualities in every store regardless of location or demographics of the area. This conditions consumers to shop at their
stores because they know what they are going to get and feel comfortable going there. For example, when a family who shopped at the Home Depot in
New York moves to Washington Township, they are probably going to shop at the Home Depot there, rather than the local hardware store.
The conditioning, or "brainwashing" as some view it, of customers is evident in the effect on the economy of Mercer County. The proprietor of the
former hardware store in Washington Township also owns several other stores in the neighboring towns of Hamilton and Trenton. These surrounding
communities have been developed long ago and haven't seen the recent inflow of new housing and people that Washington has. Many of the people in
those towns are working class and have roots in their respective communities. These people continue to support the smaller hardware stores, and
business has not been affected after Home Depot and Lowe's moved in.
However, the store located in Washington Township was devastated by the construction of the mega stores. After speaking to the owner of the store, it
seems as if the store's demise was due to the "brainwashing" of the younger generations. Many of the residents that have moved into Washington
Township during the past 10 years are young, upper–middle class

A Brief Note On The Local Small Businesses
Have you ever considered counting how many local small businesses are there in your community? Do you think that business would do way better if
it could reach out further through a website? Fact is there are 27 million small businesses on this earth, which means there are several products and
services offered, what if these small business had the potential to upscale but the local market wasn't great enough? Some of the best ran small
businesses have websites that has given the business a great deal of benefits. Some of the benefits that help small businesses are that they help gain
credibility, save money, accessibility, wider range for target market, customer service and, convenience. I would like to start with one of the most
influential effects a website has on a business which is convenience. Convenience is a very influential factor, usually if a customer can easily find
your site you would see an increase in traffic on your site. Also, If your website is more convenient than your competitors that will give you a huge
advantage over them, while spreading the name of your brand across the country rapidly. Another beneficial aspect of having a website is it helps
your business save more money. A website can help a business with money from different angles. People automatically think that having a website
could be costly, well not necessarily it depends on how you utilize the tools given. Websites will be there all the time and is free to access, versus

Large corporations will often drive out many of the surrounding businesses or shops around it. As a result the remaining shops that survive the entry
of a big box store located further away can receive greater profit as they're less surrounding stores to compete with in the nearby area (Columbia). This
is contrary to the common belief of being destructive to all mom–and–pop shops. Instead it proves generate more profits for surviving mom–and–pop
shops that can now raise their prices up for shoppers nearby and enjoy less competitive pricing as there less shops close by to compete with.
Whatever the smaller business specializes in also would also increase in pricing and generate greater profit and may also be why the business is

Small Businesses Affected By Financial Crisis

  • 1. Small Businesses Affected by Financial Crisis Small Business affected by Financial Crisis The purpose of this research study is to review how small businesses are affected by economic crisis, to assess the effects of marketing strategies on business performance and to identify strategies that can help small businesses grow in troubled times. The following 5 literature reviews attempt to demonstrate and support the hypothesis. In a research article by Jeffries (2011) stated how there are four ways to bounce back after a recession. The four recommended strategies to help your business bounce back after a recession are innovation, looking into government programs and partnerships, work on developing future businesses and rethinking how you do business. It is hypothesized that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were also determined to improve the current economy. The research article states 3 key components that any small business owner can incorporate to improve the success of their company quicker. Business owners should create intermediate products e.g. newspapers and or free consultations to bring in their customers. Secondly they should survey their customers to analyze how their products are being used. And last, a loyalty program should be created to reward their customers for buying and using their products. It is hypothesized that small businesses emerge with strength to overcome the economy because they are better able to respond to their customer needs. In the research article by Krell (2011), the Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy defines a small business as an independent business having fewer than 500 employees. In the article it mentions that successful small business leaders tend to treat risk as a two–sided coin. Meaning that they will identify and mitigate threats on one side while seizing and exploiting opportunities on the other side. Due to the economic crisis, there has never been more threats or opportunities confronting small businesses. The study shows that small business sales are weak because of the decline in optimism in business owners. There is uneasiness among small business owners about future opportunities. Since the economy is not growing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Application Of Erp Management Of Small Businesses Introduction For years, small businesses have been looking for solutions to monitor the overall system of operation. Inevitably, if a business is developing and growing, it would reach a point where the actual information technology (IT) infrastructure becomes obsolete. For Forrest Burnson (2015), when a business attends that point, the first move is to renovate the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. ERP supports management in monitoring the critical operations as sales, accounting, human resources, supply chain management, customer relationship management and more. When it comes the time to upgrade a system or implement one for the first time, choosing an ERP system is not a stress–free decision. The software itself is expensive ... Advances in technology and information processing have paved the path of management of a different structure. The entrance of information technology in business has helped automate some operational activities; nowadays, information system supports more levels of management and facilitates strategic planning. In the 1960s and 1970s, the main issue was the management of huge amounts of data. It was the era where management application automates repetitive operational processes. At that time, the technological market was dominated by large manufactures that centralize the processing power. For Thomas Haigh (2010), the 1970s have launched the debut of a new era in business by seeing the invention of the ENIAC; this pioneering moment has changed forever the future. In the 1980s, the IT market opens to small businesses. This period allows to a large number of users the access to data through various applications that permit them to respond to specific needs. Thomas Haigh mentioned (2010) that age was dominated by the growing importance according to personal computers; everybody wanted to possess their own computer. The 1990s was accentuated by the booming of personal computers, automation system to manage enterprises, and the explosion of telecommunications and networks. • 3. Human Resource Management At Small Businesses Pre–sessional 2016 Final Project Human Resource Management in Small Businesses Blades Qi Ni/Nicky 26036566 Human Resource Management in Small Businesses Human Resource Management (HRM) is the terminology used to illustrate formal systems devised for the management of people within an organization. It is the method of managing an organization or company that is directly related to the employees of that particular organization. The success of a business often rely heavily on the performance of managing human resource. Maximizing the desires and benefits of an organization and helping a business grow by rewarding employees to help motivate and push them in their performance is one of the main aim of HRM. By doing this, it will have a positive impact on both the company and it's entire organization. The management of people in an organization is an important factor of the HRM. This principle of HRM is all about how people act and behave in a formal setting. Modern human resource management is guided by a few main principles. One of the most dominant factor is the fact that human resources are the most valuable assets of an organization. Another important principle, expressed by Ashly Pinnington in her book 'Human Resource Management Ethics and Employment', is that "a succesful business is more likely to be achieved if the personal polices and

  • 5. Small Businesses Are Essential For The Growth Of Any Economy Background: Small businesses are essential for the growth of any economy since they are considered as building blocks. They can be equated to stem cells in the human body that have the ability to self–generate and differentiate into various structural forms. Small businesses can be established to cut across industries, countries, and communities. One of the primary roles of small businesses is the creation of employment for large numbers of people in society. In the United States (US), small businesses are estimated to create jobs for approximately 64 percent of the population with most of them having less than 500 employees. In other countries like Australia, small businesses are classified as those having less than 20 employees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Importantly, strategies play a significant role in the growth of small businesses. This is because they offer a company a direction and come up with the way through which the goals can be achieved. However, early research indicates that small businesses do not take into consideration the role played by strategy in ensuring that their growth is attained. Moreover, much of the existing literature emphasizes large businesses entities with no explicit theoretical frameworks explaining the management of small businesses. The results of the studies confirm the relevance of the subject and the need to conduct more research on this topic to develop the strategies that will offer small businesses guidance and direction on the various development strategies. Problem Statement: Business growth relies on the strategies that are applied in production and marketing of products. Managers should set goals and the timeframe within which the goals should be achieved. This can be done only if there is sufficient knowledge regarding the market. Therefore, it is important that adequate research on growth strategies for small businesses is carried out. Currently, there is limited knowledge about small businesses which can be justified by the small level of interest, inadequate economic data, and the assumption that small businesses do not use growth strategies. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have stated that they have many different views on nearly everything I chose to study their plans for taxes and the effects their campaign promises will have on small businesses. This is important to me as a small business owner and I feel that their views on part of the aspects do not differ as significantly as they claim, but some aspects do differ drastically. Donald Trump has promised a sweeping tax cut of fifteen percent according to his website. (Donald J. Trump Campaign, 2016) "Mr. Trump's plan would eliminate the disparity between the way large corporations and small businesses are treated under the code and all businesses would be taxed at a substantially lower rate. Those reforms would encourage more small business investment, job creation, and economic growth." stated Juanitta Duggan President of the NFIB. (NFIB, Contact Kelly Klass, 2016) Donald Trump's plan is one that many economists support when viewing it from the small business aspect. He has now stated that he wants to increase the minimum wage now. In November 2015, he stated that he would leave it according to the NFIB website per the Washington Examiner, but later in the same article it is stated that he will increase the minimum wage to something that one can live off of. (NFIB Protecting the Future of Small Businesses, 2016) He does state per the Washington Examiner though that increasing it in a drastic leap such as from what it is today to fifteen dollars per hour ... Small business owners often confuse marketing with advertising. Market refers to the people whom the business would like to target with their product or service. Majority of the business owners do not realize the importance of finding their niche market, which makes their target market to be very broad. Networking with other small business owners who have managed to succeed in their business would provide the business owner with invaluable insights. The business owner does not need to network with others in the same industry. By networking, the business owner would better understand how to narrow down and focus on their target market.
