2. BULLET BOY
• The main character Ricky is coming out of a prison cell as he is being released, he is wearing a grey tracksuit and
is also wearing a gold chain neckless.
• Ricky shows no emotion in his face when talking to the officers.
• There are White British officers and Ricky (the offender) is black so this shows the different ethnicity's which are
also binary opposites.
• Ricky, his brother and best mate speak in todays language; informal, chavy, London, gangster, non standard
English.
• Ricky’s best mate has got a run down car and his lighter doesn’t work which shows that he does not have much
money
• He is also got gold chain and earrings in with a cigarette in his mouth whilst driving.
• Ricky’s little brother comes out of school to see his brother when he comes out of prison, shows how he doesn’t
really care about school that much and shows that him and his brother are close and stick together.
3. PRETTY LITTLE THINGS
• Main character Okwe wearing a casual suit with a jacket that has Caribbean patterns on it to show where he is from.
His suit was informal, dirty, old and he was wearing many layers which shows he is not used to the cold weather as he
is from a hot country.
• Okwe is intelligent as he is a doctor and he spoke in many different languages to the people he asked if they wanted a
cab.
• Okwe is seen as underclass and he is an illegal immigrant so he does not use his real name when driving the taxis.
• The white British business men were wearing the more common known suits as they are business men so a lot more
formal.
• The white British people are seen as middle class.
• There were other immigrants at the taxi place and they wore sloppy Caribbean clothes
• They are in an all black community
• It is in a run down/ rough area which shows they are not very wealthy.
4. WILD CHILD
• The main character is an American girl called Poppy, coming to a private school in England from LA.
• She is represented as a typical California girl and a typical dump blond.
• She turns up in a short mini skirt which shows she wears some revealing clothes.
• The British girls look at Poppy as a dumb America blond who doesn’t want to be at school
• The head girl sees Poppy as a peasant as she is a blond American girl.
• Poppy has her own driver when turns up to Abbey Grove which shows that she has a lot of money
• When she found out her mother went to the same school she felt like her hole in heart was starting to heal which
shows that before her mother died her mother and herself was close.
