Robbin Reeves Case
When an individual consents to any type of surgery, there are many things that can run through one's
mind. It is impossible to be one hundred percent sure that the surgery will be completed perfectly
and without error. Humans are not perfect, and mistakes are inevitable. However, when a patient
wakes up from a liver transplant surgery to find burns on his neck and shoulder due to a fire caused
from defibrillation, as well as a failed liver transplant, there is justice to be served. Robbin Reeves
woke up from his surgery to this horrific nightmare. In order to prove medical malpractice in Reeves
case, we will prove breach of duty issues, the injury caused by breach of duty, and the measurable
damages from the injury. The first legal element that must be met for medical malpractice is, "the
existence of a legal duty on the part of the doctor to provide care or ... Show more content on

As a result of the failure to adhere to the safety precautions before utilizing the automated external
defibrillator the patient was severely burned on his neck and shoulders. "The patient can show a
legally sufficient relationship between the breach of duty and the injury; this concept is referred to
as proximate causation" (). If standards of care had been meet the injury that the patient now suffers
could have been prevented. "The fourth and final element of medical malpractice lawsuits is called
damages" (). The expressed damages that result from the injury provide a way for the legal system
to redress (). Therefore, "since monetary damages are easy to calculate and administer, courts
hearing medical malpractice cases will determine money damages to compensate the injured
patient" (). Reeves suffered with recovery from the burns and had to receive medical treatment to
care for burn sites. The surgery was unsuccessful, so Reeves has to recover from liver transplant

Richard Robbins Analysis
Our perception as humans doesn't just define us; it plays a huge role in what we do in our lifetime
and why we do it. People differ in how they view the world because their cultures differ. Like
Richard Robbins writes, it's like a puzzle. Each human has their own beliefs and their own way to
look at things, but at the same time we are all made up of the same material and live in the same
universe, so shouldn't we be able to understand and see the same as everyone around us? Everything
from marriage, sex, life and death, diets, and witch crafting can be seen the total opposite of what
you think just because culture. As a human you want to be the "correct" one about the world and you
believe that your beliefs are the "right" ones. Richard Robins explains that there is no right or

Like I was saying before, we are trying to understand people's different cultures and values of the
world. It makes sense that if people don't have the same values in life and the same perspective, that
when we view something we aren't going to see it in the same manner. Everyone's culture is going to
form what he or she thinks or sees. We need to strive to see the differences in values and other
people's culture, and not be so quick to judge. Humans need to learn how to appreciate the views of
others while still questioning their own views on the world. As Richard Robbins inscribes "No

Baskin Robbins, Hugh Williams
While doing some research I found that a franchise agreement is a binding legal contract that is
signed between a franchisor and franchisee. A franchisor is the company owning the rights to grant
franchises to franchisees, while a franchisee is a person or entity who is given the right to conduct
business by a franchisor or licensor. The most important definition however is that of a franchise
which is an authorization granted by the government or company to an individual or group allowing
them to carry out certain commercial activities.
The article that I read was called "Baskin–Robbins Franchisee, Hugh Williams" which I will also
cite below in further detail. It is a short yet very interesting article about a franchisee named Hugh
Williams who was given licensing to open up his own Baskin–Robbins. The article starts out by
talking about a little of his background information and how he worked for his parents Baskin–
Robbins when he was younger. What is interesting is how he had the dream to open up his own
when he got older and he made it happen. He actually graduated from Georgia Tech with an
engineering degree which is not something you would expect from the franchisee of an ice cream
shop. Even with his love for Baskin–Robbins he still was unsure of himself and he actually sold his
shops in 1997 in pursuit of a different career. However he found himself going back to the small ice
cream shop as he missed the simplicity of owning one. Hugh eventually became a multi–unit

The trait approach to leadership can be summarize by what early researchers believed to be
noticeable among leaders and some of the unique set of qualities or traits exhibited that distinguish

Alexandra Robbins Analysis
Students today undergo constant pressure for perfection, going through extreme efforts to meet this
expectation. Alexandra Robbins, an investigative journalist and author of The Overachievers: The
Secret Lives of Driven Kids, views modern educational culture as a danger to students because it
advocates productivity over learning. On the other hand, Jay Mathews of the Washington Post
believes that students today are more apathetic than stressed. Robbins perception of today's schools
is more accurate than Mathews', for students cheat to appear smarter, burden themselves with
grueling schedules to impress colleges, and develop mental disorders as a result. With the
expectations set for students by parents, high schools, and colleges, students find themselves in
difficult positions. Should they study for a test or try to get a few hours of sleep? Does a homework

These expectations are set in hopes that they will help students get into prestigious colleges. An

related to high school schedules. Poulis says, "the stress level is very high" due to taking four AP
classes, standardized tests, and participating in various after school activities to enhance his college
applications. Halprin hoped to attend an Ivy League school. Her schedule included time for
homework, class president duties, team sports, mentoring young students, and helping at her
synagogue. Despite her impressive schedule, Halprin worried that it would not be enough to meet
her goals. The idea that students must overwork themselves and excel in every area has become an
emotional and mental burden on teenagers, rather than be a guide to a successful

about the importance of communication skills within his company, I had a better understanding of
what the expectations that a company has, when adding a new member to his team. Overall, I am

shown that strong communication skills are critical to effective job placement, performance, career
advancement, and organizations success. In making hiring decisions, employers often rank
communication skills among the most desirable competencies;(Business Communication 8th

Jerome Robbins Research Paper
Jerome Robbins's incredible dance history and background is what has left him ranked so highly in
the musical theater industry today. From working to dazzle his audiences, Robbins can be held
responsible for the industry's serge in popularity over a short amount of time. It can be said by many
that Robbins took a fresh approach to choreography to introduce to the world with a more energetic
and dynamic performance to display. Robbins creative work elevated the role of dance in musical
theatre, which was claimed to be the industry's 'Golden Era'.
Born into a Jewish family with many theatrical contacts and influences in 1918, Robbins was forced
to keep his passion for dance a secret from his mother and father for many years. After revealing this
secret at a summer camp while dancing on a table tennis table Robbins soon began to take modern

The film that will be analyzed and discussed is the Shawshank Redemption, which was Director by
Frank Darabont and is a Story by Stephen King. It is based in 1946, a man named Andy Dufresne
(Tim Robbins) is convicted of killing his wife and her lover, and him going to prison and dealing
with the struggles of prison life as a truly innocent man. . "He's sentenced to a life term at the
Shawshank State Prison in Maine, where another lifer, Ellis Red Redding (Morgan Freeman), picks
him as the new recruit most likely to crack under the pressure. The ugly realities of prison life are

"The film's opening scene shows him being given two life sentences for the murder of his wife and
her lover, and then we move, permanently, to a point of view representing the prison population and
particularly the lifer Ellis 'Red' Redding. It is his voice remembering the first time he saw Andy
("looked like a stiff breeze would blow him over"), and predicting, wrongly, that he wouldn't make it
in prison." (Ebert, 1999). The story takes place in a prison in Ohio back in 1946. The category of
irony used in this film is situational irony which "Situational irony occurs when we expect one thing
to happen and something else does." (Goodykoontz, & Jacobs, 2011 Ch. 2.4). The Shawshank
is about Andy, but it is but the story isn't through his own eyes, had this film been through the eyes
of Andy it would have turned out completely different, this plays a large part in the situational irony
because "Red is our surrogate. He's the one we identify with, and the redemption, when it comes, is
Red's. We've been shown by Andy's example that you have to keep true to yourself, not lose hope,
bide your time, set a quiet example and look for your chance. "I guess it comes down to a simple
choice, really," he tells Red. "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'."." (Ebert, 1999).

Essay On Paul Nordoff And Robbins
The work is composed by Paul Nordoff and Clive Robbins in the year of 1968. It is originally
written as a rhythmic music game for children and clients who are hearing impaired. The piece is a
rhythmic composition, which includes parts for vocal, piano and drum. Between parts, there are
structured interplay to provide interaction between therapists and clients. Apart from this interaction,
Nordoff and Robbins also integrated four different melodic and rhythmic ideas into the piece, which
helped to maintain the emotional interaction in a musical relationship. The piece is a gradual
progress of the development of clients' abilities. The lyrics are in simple repetition of sentences,
which would help to enhance clients' language skills and memory ... Show more content on

This shows that the piece requires therapists to hold the notes for its value but still gives clients a
lively and exciting feeling, thereby to guide clients to start the drumming movement. The work is
identified as having a tonal centre of and ends with final cadence with C major chord. This creates a
straightforward and warm feeling that will match well with the beating pattern. The tempo of the
work is marked as briskly, which indicates that the work would be quick and active. This tempo lays
a foundation for therapists to form a lively atmosphere while playing the piece. The composers used
2/4 beat for the rhythm of the song. This allowed the piece to be rich in both musical melody and
rhythm; there is no a sense of dragging in the piece and every beat is simple and easy to follow. The
chords used in the piece are uncomplicated; they are chord IV and I for the first two bars of each
phrase, then basic IV, ii, I, V chords for drumming. The melody is descending and the first phrase
ends with chord V while the last phrase ends with chord I, which indicates the finish of the A
session. Composers also put

discoveries. These self–assessments encompass the framework of my paper, and my responses are

Bush's No Child Left Behind Act is a renewal of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act,
which is an aid program for disadvantaged students. Although it does sound as if the Act is helping
children all across the country, Alexandra Robbins thoroughly explains otherwise in her book, The
Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids. Within pages eighty five through eighty nine,
Robbins thoroughly shows her negativity to the Act and why it's hurting children rather than helping
them. She uses hard facts, such as the emphasis on tests, altered curricula, and the corrupt college
admission process to prove her point.
The No Child Left Behind Act requires schools to test students on reading and math through grades
three through eight and at least once in tenth through twelfth grade. "The exclusive emphasis on
tests has left students sick with stress in even the youngest grades; some schools reported that on
testing days, up to two dozen children vomit on their test booklets." As stated by Robbins. Because
of how emphasized tests are, a student's performance is only based on test ... Show more content on

In order to compensate for this, schools have changed their curricula to focus solely on test taking

us an example on page eight six. She talks about how four out of five elementary school teachers
said that they "had little time to teach students material not included on standardized tests." Fewer
resources and time are given to the creative arts, as well as science and social studies, stunting the
students learning in the end. Schools have a hard time understanding that most colleges look at a
student's grades rather than what they get on standardized tests. Giving special privileges to certain
classes and omitting others will only hurt the student, especially if the student plans to go to

West Side Story The Musical Essay
West Side Story The Musical
*No Works Cited
West Side Story is one of the most influential musicals of all time. It's integration of dance and song
into the plot was very innovative, because even though it had been done before, it had never been
done this well. Jerome Robbins had thought of an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet to a Broadway
musical in 1949. He began discussions with librettist Arthur Laurents and composer Leonard
Bernstein of a musical called East Side Story, with a plot concentrating on a Catholic girl and a
Jewish boy. Other projects forced the work aside for six years, and when they returned to it, times
had changed. Their idea became West Side Story, (another early title was Gangway!) and the

The Latin–American rhythms gave Bernstein a good musical base to start from, and the whole score
benefited from a jazzy Manhattan feel, which had been inherited from Gershwin, as well as
Copland's romantic Americana feel. Robbins choice of a cast was very meticulously done. He
wanted a real feeling that had never been reached before in Musical history. He wanted actors that
were not well known, and that would get his theme of reality across to the audience. During
rehearsals he actually separated the Jets and the Sharks and didn't allow them to socialize or even
talk to one another. He also didn't allow the actress playing Anybodys to eat lunch with anyone at
all. The show opened on Broadway on September 16, 1957. At first, the critics were not able to fully
appreciate the magnitude of the achievement, but one critic, Brooks Atkinson wrote that the ballets
"convey the things that Laurents is inhibited from saying because the characters are so inarticulate."
This was done intentionally as a part of the realistic approach to the musical. By making the
teenagers inarticulate, they were forced to communicate at an emotional level that almost lended
itself to an impressionistic approach. One innovation of West Side Story was that there really wasn't
a dance chorus. Each dancer was assigned a specific character to play, and all of them sang, danced,
and spoke. Robbins knew that by

The Overachievers, by Alexandra Robbins Essay
The Overachievers by Alexandra Robbins is a non– fiction book that follows the lives of nine high
school/ college overachieving students. On the outside they look healthy, happy, and perfect, but
upon closer look the reader realizes just how manic their lives and the lives of many other high
scholars are. It is no secret that high school and college has become more competitive, but the public
doesn't realize just out of control this world is. "Overachieverism" has become a way of life, a social
norm. It is a world–wide phenomenon that has swamped many of the world's top countries. Students
are breaking under the immense amount of pressure that society puts on them. They live in constant
fear that they will not live up to society's, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They can't do that if they spend every hour eating, sleeping, or studying for fear that they won't be
successful. Students are completely burned out by the time they get to college (Robbins).
This lifestyle of overachieving starts at an early age. It used to be you didn't need to start an activity
or sport until middle school or high school. Many people now know that if you want your child to
excel in something, you have to start at an early age. Boys start little league baseball and pee–wee
football at seven or eight years old. Girls start dance or tumbling classes as early as three. Toddlers
are being tutored at age two. While all this may be hard to take in, what may surprise you is that you
don't even have to be born yet to start your education. "A California obstetrician has developed
courses to further the intellectual skills of her students. The students? All fetuses. Then name of the
school is, I kid you not, Prenatal University" (Robbins 334). The early education market is booming,
"parents are lured by the possibility of nudging their children ahead of the pack even before the age
of one" (Robbins 335). Parents are so obsessed with their child being number one that they will pay
$16,000 tuition for a private preschool. But to be enrolled in such preschools, toddlers must go into

Robbins Nine Girls
It is no surprise that around the world, girls are at a social disadvantage. Facing institutionalized
misogyny alongside poverty, arranged marriage, and a variety of other obstacles, some of them
aren't even afforded an education. What would the world be like if girls were valued more in
cultures and societies? What would it be like if girls in developing countries had more opportunities
to go to school? What would it be like if these oppressive barriers did not exist? Richard E. Robbins
asks these questions in Girl Rising. Released in 2013, the documentary examines nine girls, nine
countries, and the journey towards the goal that unites them all: to get an education. By telling the
story of the everyday struggles of these nine girls in developing countries, the filmmaker argues that
giving girls easier access to education would dismantle systems of oppression.

Robbins' choice to employ girls whose stories vastly differ from each other illustrates the different
struggles girls face around the world, be it physical violence, second–class rights, or otherwise.
Presenting stories of girls who are relatively well–off by developing country's standards, such as
Wadley from Haiti and Mariama from Sierra Leone, alongside those who weren't nearly as
fortunate, such as Suma from Nepal and Amina from Afghanistan, opens up the viewers' eyes to the
ways misogyny manifests itself in different cultures. These variances are representative of the wide
array of real–life conundrums girls are presented with in developing countries; they help lead the
audience to the conclusion that we must begin at the root of the problem and work from the bottom
up in order to make a fundamental change in education systems

Falsehood Of Failures Robbins Analysis
The Falsehoods of Failures Youth is both a lie and the embodiment of evil; although it is only a mere
five letters, it violently moves the hearts of humans. For some, it gives off feelings of nostalgia
while for others it draws out dark hatred. Specifically, those that constantly celebrate their teenage
years are lying to themselves and to those around them. To those same individuals, secrets, lies, sins,
and failures are naught but seeds of spice in their youth. The mid 20th–century author Robbins
declares that his youth (past faults and irritations) has helped him to become a creative thinker in the
modern world; however, he and many other's principles are deceit. Those that praise youth interpret
everything in their natural habitat as an assertion of their beliefs within this youth mold. For
instance, Robbins is a victim to the plague of youth when he states, "I've come to believe that all my
past failure and frustration were actually laying the foundation[...]". In other words, Robbins
explains failure is vital into evolving as an individual; however, he is twisting all rationality into
untieable metal knots in the name of youth. This not only seems very ignorant, but it also shows that
the author can't distinguish a unicorn–filled world from reality. To put it simply, individuals that fit

asserts, " [...] laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new level of living I

prosperity, and accomplishment. To put it another way, the author believes that his past experiences
shaped his contemporary method of existence in which he gains pleasure from. Despite what he

Analysis Of Unshakeable By Tony Robbins
In my nonfiction outside reading novel, Unshakeable, Tony Robbins is a wonderful mentor and

Anthony Robbins Essay
Tony Robbins, an American author, quotes, "To effectively communicate, we must realize that we
are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our
communication with others" (BrainyQuote 1). Communication is an everyday thing that connects us
with people from all over. It's necessary to be open–minded to other cultures and their way of
communication. It's the only way harmonious tunes can be played in sync around the world. How
can we truly be other–oriented if we refuse to open the communication door to those completely
different from us? It's difficult at first, and nerve–wracking, but it could clear the air of differences
between two people.
I work at Chick–fil–A, a popular fast food franchise. Countless people visit on a day–to–day basis
from all over, and communication is abundant. However, I personally struggle to communicate with
people of different cultures because of DECODING, MALAPROPISM and a WILLINGNESS TO
COMMUNICATE with them. It's hard for me because of how heavy their accents can be. It's hard to
DECODE their words because English isn't their primary language. They'll say the wrong word or a
similar word, and it causes confusion. It gets frustrating trying to work my way around what they're
trying to say. My WILLINGNESS TO COMMUNICATE decreases drastically. I tend to tone down

Duffy Robbins Summary
Narrative Overview: Doug Fields and Duffy Robbins created this book to help people communicate
more clearly to teenagers. The first section was composed of the reasons behind improving
communication and why it is important to communicate clearly to teenagers. Ultimately this section
was "how to think about effective messages." Then they went into section two which they explained
their method for preparing a message; "S.T.I.C.K." "S" stood for "Study," they explained that
preparing a message started with studying God's word first. The next letter, "T," stood for "Think,"
in this chapter, Doug and Duffy explained the importance of thinking about a message throughout a
week. After "T" was "I," which stood for "Illustrate," in this section they emphasized the importance
of being creative to keep students hooked. The "C" stood for construct, so they explained once

I believe it touched on a lot of points that are necessary to communicating. I also believe that there
are many people who should read this book and soak up the wisdom that is packed within it. The
need to prepare and communicate effectively is so important in the culture today with students
having shorter attention spans then ever and the temptation culture presents breathing down their
necks. Communicating has become a vital means to present the gospel, yet so many are taking this
opportunity for granted. Doug and Duffy did a great job putting together their "S.T.I.C.K." method
for pastors to use, I still believe that Andy Stanley's method of "Me, We, God, You, We" is easiest to
remember and one of the most effective methods out there today. Either way Doug and Duffy did an
excellent job by creating a method that is different than any others on the market, and it should
definitely be used by many to effectively communicate the gospel to teenagers. Overall, this book

Analysis Of The Book ' Fierce Invalids Home From Hot...
As we read through this story we become aware of Switters' contradictory nature, rather than
eschewing this trait he embraces it. He is a CIA agent who hates the government. He is a pacifist
who carries a gun and so on. Switters and his grandmother, Maestra, come up with six qualities that
denote the wisdom; they may or may not be required for wisdom, but they certainly drive Tom
Robbins's writing style. GOOD INTRO
When talking about wisdom to someone unaware of the process to OF becoming wise, one may say
that wisdom is knowing all there is to know about life; another may say that wisdom is having
ultimate knowledge and insight through experience. I personally agree with Tom Robbins when he
describes the six qualities needed for wisdom.
For instance, in the novel Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climate, Switters, a rogue CIA agent, is
confined to the physical and potentially spiritual elevation of a borrowed wheelchair by the curse of
a reclusive South American shaman. This particular event occurs early on in the novel and is a
perfect example of spirituality. Both Switters and his acquaintance R. Potney Smithe had spells cast
upon them. The shaman, End–of–Time explained what he had done, but neither of the men could
truly believe or understand what had been done. So to test the spell Smithe touches Switters'S penis
and falls to the ground, stone cold, dead. Switters couldn't comprehend the reality of dying from
some superstitious taboo. So from that day on he resides in a

"The quality of your communication is the quality of your life"–Tony Robbins. How motivating. It
should be because Tony Robbins is a very famous and successful motivational speaker. This quote
couldn't be more true. Good communicators have a very successful life and in order to master
communication, one must understand communication theory. According to the text, Introducing
Communication Theory Analysis and Application, communication is defined as "a social process in
which individuals employ symbols to establish and interpret meaning in their environment". There
are many different definitions of communication, but all communication definitions explain the
process of transmitting information, the framework of the information, and the effects of that
information. Understanding communication theory can be very rewarding and very beneficial to
people's personal and professional lives. It can help with public speaking, interviews, relationships,
and so much more. The world is always changing, which means communication is too. Taking a
communication theory class helps students make sense of the world around us, express our wants,
needs and desires to others in an appropriate manner. Employers are always looking for good
communicators to hire. Corporations are noticing how beneficial an effective communicator is for
their business. According to a survey in 2013 by the National Association of College and Employers

The Shawshank Redemption By Frank Darabont And Starred Tim...
Introduction
I selected the 1994 film, The Shawshank Redemption, which was directed by Frank Darabont and
starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. The central message of this film is the power of hope.
When Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), says to Red (Morgan Freeman) "get busy living or get busy
dying," he is saying that it is only when you willingly risk everything, that freedom becomes
possible.
The film, The Shawshank Redemption takes place in the 1940's and is the story of a Maine banker,
Andy Dufresne who is wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife and her lover and is sentenced to
life imprisonment in Shawshank Penitentiary (Representations of Prison in Nineties Hollywood
Cinema). For the first three years of his sentence, Andy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Body of the Term Project
The film talks about the prisoners being "institutionalized", and the thought of spending the majority
of one's life inside a penitentiary would scare anyone (Politics and Film). There comes a time when
a prisoner becomes very accustomed to the life they were living inside prison that they were
dreading the day when they had to leave and go back to the society as a reformed person (Politics
and Film). In the film, Brooks tried to hurt a fellow prisoner just so he could stay in Shawshank.
Each of the prisoners inside Shawshank is locked up metaphorically as well as literally (Cinematic
Carcerality: Prison Metaphors in Film). The forms of isolation in Shawshank range from the large,
enclosed recreation yard to the small work crews down to the cellblock, cells and solitary
confinement literally (Cinematic Carcerality: Prison Metaphors in Film). The bars, strict schedules,
heartless prison guards and predatory sisters add a sense of entrapment to the layers of isolation
(Cinematic Carcerality: Prison Metaphors in Film). There are also examples of socioeconomic
diversity in the film. Andy shares an idea with the prison guards who are unaware of the tax law.
Also, when Andy explains to Red about what a rock hammer is or stones (Cinematic Carcerality:
Prison Metaphors in Film). When The Shawshank Redemption was first released it

Reading Robbins, Global Problems and the Culture of Capitalism, Chapter 2 Labor, and watching
the Mardi Gras: Made In China documentary delivered two contrasting emotions. When reading, it's
just like I'm reading for understanding, but when I watch what I've read about it put things into
perspective. When reading two points that Robbins made really stood out to me in both the chapter,
and the documentary, and they are discipline/control and labor. In Chapter 2 Labor one of Robbins
subtitles was discipline and he says discipline/control is really based on the concept of time (p.43),
and from watching the Mardi Gras documentary that is really true. Rodger, the boss, found many

Tom Robbins' Jitterbug Perfume Essay
Tom Robbins' Jitterbug Perfume
In his 1984 novel Jitterbug Perfume, Tom Robbins presents a narrative that rivals the often
fantastical tales told in myth. Using classical mythology as a foundation, and, in particular,
providing a loose adaptation of The Odyssey by Homer, Robbins updates and modifies characters
and concepts in an effort to reinforce the importance of the journey of life and the discovery of self.
Like the ancient myth–makers, Robbins commands the reader's attention with outrageous situations
and events while at the same time providing characters that the reader can relate to and learn from.
Jitterbug Perfume is a story of epic proportions, spanning a time–frame of almost one thousand
years. The protagonist, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the beet as "the grounded moon–boat" calls to mind Odysseus's various nautical
incidents and accidents (1). This discourse is chapter one of four brief chapters that introduce the
modern–day characters, much as Homer begins his epic with the four books that acquaint us with
the people and the situation in Ithica. Each work is told retrospectively by a third–person omniscient
narrator, and the adventures of Alobar and Kudra are relayed primarily through flashbacks, much as
the story of Odysseus is told. Homer's use of Athena as a character whose presence permeates and
drives the action of the epic is mirrored, albeit perversely, by Robbins' use of the beet as a similar
"character," an entity that permeates and affects the lives of the characters in the book. The novel, as
does the epic, ends with all the primary characters coming together to effect a satisfying conclusion.
A key to understanding his writing, says author Tom Robbins, is a knowledge of Greek myth. A
particular influence on him is the life and work of Joseph Campbell, author of several books on
mythology (Hoyser and Stookey 9). Campbell, in turn, owes influence to the insights of analytic
psychologist Carl Jung. Jung recognized the patterns within myths ––– throughout the world and
across all cultures –– of characters, situations, and events, and identified these recurring images as
archetypes (Harris and Platzner 40). Campbell

admission expectations have made high school a very cut–throat environment, leading students who
try to meet these expectations to have deteriorating mental and physical health. Robbins defends the
idea that over achieving students' health worsens because of high school stress. Julie, the high

standards his mom has set for him. "AP Frank slumped into his chair, took a breath, broke into sobs,

pressure his mom puts on him to succeed. The reader sees AP Frank reach his limit and crack; he is
suffocating from the pressure to get into a top–tier college. The imagery Robbins uses to describe
the breakdown AP Frank has makes the reader feel as if they are experiencing it for themselves. The
reader can visualize they are in the room with AP Frank, because of how vividly his movements are

stress molds a student, and can even lead them to their emotional breaking point, like AP Frank's.
Robbins is able to show the reader that high school stress, because of the pressure to get into a good
college, can ruin a person's mental health, and drive them to the point of insanity. This applies to the
emotions of the reader by showing them how agonizing AP Frank thinks his life is and how he
thinks it will not improve. It is evident that Robbins wants the reader to feel as if changes must be

(Bhasin, 2011). According to Jim Riley, loyal customers are those that buy one brand most or all the
time. These are valuable customers and companies would try to segment their markets to a place
where loyal customers can be found. (Riley, 2012). Benefits sought are also a form of behavioral
segmentation. For example hair shampoos targets customers that have split ends, dandruff and
others. (Bhasin, 2011). There are five behavioral segmentation knowledge base. They are product
application, buying process, decision makers, decision criteria, and decision maker attitudes.
Product application is when the marketer tries to understand the customers need. There are times
when marketers fall onto a trap of trying to sell their products to customers who uses the
competitor's product. They would assume that their product is a replacement for the competitor's
product. Though this may be true, but sometimes it is better to best the competitions to replace them.
Once the markets know the correct application, buying behavior and people to target, they would
design their marketing strategy and offering around this segment. Buying process has four stages.
First is awareness, which identifies the need of the product. Second is presale, this process is where
the customers use to narrow a product to select potential

Robbin Reeves Case

  • 1. Robbin Reeves Case When an individual consents to any type of surgery, there are many things that can run through one's mind. It is impossible to be one hundred percent sure that the surgery will be completed perfectly and without error. Humans are not perfect, and mistakes are inevitable. However, when a patient wakes up from a liver transplant surgery to find burns on his neck and shoulder due to a fire caused from defibrillation, as well as a failed liver transplant, there is justice to be served. Robbin Reeves woke up from his surgery to this horrific nightmare. In order to prove medical malpractice in Reeves case, we will prove breach of duty issues, the injury caused by breach of duty, and the measurable damages from the injury. The first legal element that must be met for medical malpractice is, "the existence of a legal duty on the part of the doctor to provide care or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "The patient can show a legally sufficient relationship between the breach of duty and the injury; this concept is referred to as proximate causation" (). If standards of care had been meet the injury that the patient now suffers could have been prevented. "The fourth and final element of medical malpractice lawsuits is called damages" (). The expressed damages that result from the injury provide a way for the legal system to redress (). Therefore, "since monetary damages are easy to calculate and administer, courts hearing medical malpractice cases will determine money damages to compensate the injured patient" (). Reeves suffered with recovery from the burns and had to receive medical treatment to care for burn sites. The surgery was unsuccessful, so Reeves has to recover from liver transplant ... • 5. Richard Robbins Analysis Our perception as humans doesn't just define us; it plays a huge role in what we do in our lifetime and why we do it. People differ in how they view the world because their cultures differ. Like Richard Robbins writes, it's like a puzzle. Each human has their own beliefs and their own way to look at things, but at the same time we are all made up of the same material and live in the same universe, so shouldn't we be able to understand and see the same as everyone around us? Everything from marriage, sex, life and death, diets, and witch crafting can be seen the total opposite of what you think just because culture. As a human you want to be the "correct" one about the world and you believe that your beliefs are the "right" ones. Richard Robins explains that there is no right or wrong, it's just our culture and the way we were brought up in this world. We are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like I was saying before, we are trying to understand people's different cultures and values of the world. It makes sense that if people don't have the same values in life and the same perspective, that when we view something we aren't going to see it in the same manner. Everyone's culture is going to form what he or she thinks or sees. We need to strive to see the differences in values and other people's culture, and not be so quick to judge. Humans need to learn how to appreciate the views of others while still questioning their own views on the world. • 9. Baskin Robbins, Hugh Williams While doing some research I found that a franchise agreement is a binding legal contract that is signed between a franchisor and franchisee. A franchisor is the company owning the rights to grant franchises to franchisees, while a franchisee is a person or entity who is given the right to conduct business by a franchisor or licensor. The most important definition however is that of a franchise which is an authorization granted by the government or company to an individual or group allowing them to carry out certain commercial activities. The article that I read was called "Baskin–Robbins Franchisee, Hugh Williams" which I will also cite below in further detail. It is a short yet very interesting article about a franchisee named Hugh Williams who was given licensing to open up his own Baskin–Robbins. The article starts out by talking about a little of his background information and how he worked for his parents Baskin– Robbins when he was younger. What is interesting is how he had the dream to open up his own when he got older and he made it happen. He actually graduated from Georgia Tech with an engineering degree which is not something you would expect from the franchisee of an ice cream shop. Even with his love for Baskin–Robbins he still was unsure of himself and he actually sold his shops in 1997 in pursuit of a different career. However he found himself going back to the small ice cream shop as he missed the simplicity of owning one. Hugh eventually became a multi–unit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Alexandra Robbins Analysis Students today undergo constant pressure for perfection, going through extreme efforts to meet this expectation. Alexandra Robbins, an investigative journalist and author of The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids, views modern educational culture as a danger to students because it advocates productivity over learning. On the other hand, Jay Mathews of the Washington Post believes that students today are more apathetic than stressed. Robbins perception of today's schools is more accurate than Mathews', for students cheat to appear smarter, burden themselves with grueling schedules to impress colleges, and develop mental disorders as a result. With the expectations set for students by parents, high schools, and colleges, students find themselves in difficult positions. Should they study for a test or try to get a few hours of sleep? Halprin hoped to attend an Ivy League school. Her schedule included time for homework, class president duties, team sports, mentoring young students, and helping at her synagogue. Overall, I am part of his team, and his top manager. Over the last decade, employer surveys have consistently shown that strong communication skills are critical to effective job placement, performance, career advancement, and organizations success. In making hiring decisions, employers often rank communication skills among the most desirable competencies;(Business Communication 8th Edition, Ch.1 pg. 4). From working to dazzle his audiences, Robbins can be held responsible for the industry's serge in popularity over a short amount of time. It can be said by many that Robbins took a fresh approach to choreography to introduce to the world with a more energetic and dynamic performance to display. Robbins creative work elevated the role of dance in musical theatre, which was claimed to be the industry's 'Golden Era'. Born into a Jewish family with many theatrical contacts and influences in 1918, Robbins was forced to keep his passion for dance a secret from his mother and father for many years. Analyzing the Shawshank Redemption Analyzing Shawshank Redemption Crystal Gayle Frapp January 31, 2014 Analyzing Shawshank Redemption The film that will be analyzed and discussed is the Shawshank Redemption, which was Director by Frank Darabont and is a Story by Stephen King. It is based in 1946, a man named Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is convicted of killing his wife and her lover, and him going to prison and dealing with the struggles of prison life as a truly innocent man. . "He's sentenced to a life term at the Shawshank State Prison in Maine, where another lifer, Ellis Red Redding (Morgan Freeman), picks him as the new recruit most likely to crack under the pressure. "The film's opening scene shows him being given two life sentences for the murder of his wife and her lover, and then we move, permanently, to a point of view representing the prison population and particularly the lifer Ellis 'Red' Redding. It is his voice remembering the first time he saw Andy ("looked like a stiff breeze would blow him over"), and predicting, wrongly, that he wouldn't make it in prison." (Ebert, 1999). The story takes place in a prison in Ohio back in 1946. The category of irony used in this film is situational irony which "Situational irony occurs when we expect one thing to happen and something else does." (Goodykoontz, & Jacobs, 2011 Ch. 2.4). The Shawshank is about Andy, but it is but the story isn't through his own eyes, had this film been through the eyes of Andy it would have turned out completely different, this plays a large part in the situational irony because "Red is our surrogate. He's the one we identify with, and the redemption, when it comes, is Red's. We've been shown by Andy's example that you have to keep true to yourself, not lose hope, bide your time, set a quiet example and look for your chance. "I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really," he tells Red. "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'."." (Ebert, 1999). • 41. Essay On Paul Nordoff And Robbins The work is composed by Paul Nordoff and Clive Robbins in the year of 1968. It is originally written as a rhythmic music game for children and clients who are hearing impaired. The piece is a rhythmic composition, which includes parts for vocal, piano and drum. Between parts, there are structured interplay to provide interaction between therapists and clients. Apart from this interaction, Nordoff and Robbins also integrated four different melodic and rhythmic ideas into the piece, which helped to maintain the emotional interaction in a musical relationship. The piece is a gradual progress of the development of clients' abilities. The lyrics are in simple repetition of sentences, which would help to enhance clients' language skills and memory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows that the piece requires therapists to hold the notes for its value but still gives clients a lively and exciting feeling, thereby to guide clients to start the drumming movement. The work is identified as having a tonal centre of and ends with final cadence with C major chord. This creates a straightforward and warm feeling that will match well with the beating pattern. The tempo of the work is marked as briskly, which indicates that the work would be quick and active. This tempo lays a foundation for therapists to form a lively atmosphere while playing the piece. The composers used 2/4 beat for the rhythm of the song. This allowed the piece to be rich in both musical melody and rhythm; there is no a sense of dragging in the piece and every beat is simple and easy to follow. The chords used in the piece are uncomplicated; they are chord IV and I for the first two bars of each phrase, then basic IV, ii, I, V chords for drumming. The melody is descending and the first phrase ends with chord V while the last phrase ends with chord I, which indicates the finish of the A session. Composers also put ... First, I must understand myself toward becoming an effective employee, co–worker, or manager. As a result, I am directed toward the advancement of the knowledge of these discoveries. These self–assessments encompass the framework of my paper, and my responses are compared with abundant studies. Significantly, I exist as a being uniquely designed by God, but these self–assessment results deserve ample credit. Regardless, of classification from these self– assessments, covenantal approaches aligning with God's law show relevance. However, I am captivated with these discoveries. In addition, I used the Organizational Behavior textbook by Robbins & Judge (2009); Organizational Communication Presentation by Fischer; "The Gospel and Personal Reflection" article by Fischer (2006); and "Toward a Periodic Table of Personality: Mapping Personality Scales Between the Five–Factor Model and the Circumplex Model" article by Anderson & Woods (2016). Although it does sound as if the Act is helping children all across the country, Alexandra Robbins thoroughly explains otherwise in her book, The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids. Within pages eighty five through eighty nine, Robbins thoroughly shows her negativity to the Act and why it's hurting children rather than helping them. She uses hard facts, such as the emphasis on tests, altered curricula, and the corrupt college admission process to prove her point. The No Child Left Behind Act requires schools to test students on reading and math through grades three through eight and at least once in tenth through twelfth grade. "The exclusive emphasis on tests has left students sick with stress in even the youngest grades; some schools reported that on testing days, up to two dozen children vomit on their test booklets." As stated by Robbins. Because of how emphasized tests are, a student's performance is only based on test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fewer resources and time are given to the creative arts, as well as science and social studies, stunting the students learning in the end. • 73. West Side Story The Musical Essay West Side Story The Musical *No Works Cited West Side Story is one of the most influential musicals of all time. It's integration of dance and song into the plot was very innovative, because even though it had been done before, it had never been done this well. Jerome Robbins had thought of an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet to a Broadway musical in 1949. He began discussions with librettist Arthur Laurents and composer Leonard Bernstein of a musical called East Side Story, with a plot concentrating on a Catholic girl and a Jewish boy. Other projects forced the work aside for six years, and when they returned to it, times had changed. Their idea became West Side Story, (another early title was Gangway!) and the Montague–Capulet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Latin–American rhythms gave Bernstein a good musical base to start from, and the whole score benefited from a jazzy Manhattan feel, which had been inherited from Gershwin, as well as Copland's romantic Americana feel. Robbins choice of a cast was very meticulously done. He wanted a real feeling that had never been reached before in Musical history. He wanted actors that were not well known, and that would get his theme of reality across to the audience. During rehearsals he actually separated the Jets and the Sharks and didn't allow them to socialize or even talk to one another. He also didn't allow the actress playing Anybodys to eat lunch with anyone at all. The show opened on Broadway on September 16, 1957. At first, the critics were not able to fully appreciate the magnitude of the achievement, but one critic, Brooks Atkinson wrote that the ballets "convey the things that Laurents is inhibited from saying because the characters are so inarticulate." This was done intentionally as a part of the realistic approach to the musical. By making the teenagers inarticulate, they were forced to communicate at an emotional level that almost lended itself to an impressionistic approach. One innovation of West Side Story was that there really wasn't a dance chorus. Each dancer was assigned a specific character to play, and all of them sang, danced, and spoke. Robbins knew that by ... On the outside they look healthy, happy, and perfect, but upon closer look the reader realizes just how manic their lives and the lives of many other high scholars are. It is no secret that high school and college has become more competitive, but the public doesn't realize just out of control this world is. "Overachieverism" has become a way of life, a social norm. This lifestyle of overachieving starts at an early age. It used to be you didn't need to start an activity or sport until middle school or high school. Many people now know that if you want your child to excel in something, you have to start at an early age. Boys start little league baseball and pee–wee football at seven or eight years old. Girls start dance or tumbling classes as early as three. Toddlers are being tutored at age two. While all this may be hard to take in, what may surprise you is that you don't even have to be born yet to start your education. "A California obstetrician has developed courses to further the intellectual skills of her students. The students? All fetuses. Facing institutionalized misogyny alongside poverty, arranged marriage, and a variety of other obstacles, some of them aren't even afforded an education. What would the world be like if girls were valued more in cultures and societies? What would it be like if girls in developing countries had more opportunities to go to school? What would it be like if these oppressive barriers did not exist? Richard E. Robbins asks these questions in Girl Rising. Released in 2013, the documentary examines nine girls, nine countries, and the journey towards the goal that unites them all: to get an education. By telling the story of the everyday struggles of these nine girls in developing countries, the filmmaker argues that giving girls easier access to education would dismantle systems of oppression. Falsehood Of Failures Robbins Analysis The Falsehoods of Failures Youth is both a lie and the embodiment of evil; although it is only a mere five letters, it violently moves the hearts of humans. For some, it gives off feelings of nostalgia while for others it draws out dark hatred. Specifically, those that constantly celebrate their teenage years are lying to themselves and to those around them. To those same individuals, secrets, lies, sins, and failures are naught but seeds of spice in their youth. The mid 20th–century author Robbins declares that his youth (past faults and irritations) has helped him to become a creative thinker in the modern world; however, he and many other's principles are deceit. Those that praise youth interpret everything in their natural habitat as an assertion of their beliefs within this youth mold. For instance, Robbins is a victim to the plague of youth when he states, "I've come to believe that all my past failure and frustration were actually laying the foundation[...]". In other words, Robbins explains failure is vital into evolving as an individual; however, he is twisting all rationality into untieable metal knots in the name of youth. Anthony Robbins Essay Tony Robbins, an American author, quotes, "To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others" (BrainyQuote 1). Communication is an everyday thing that connects us with people from all over. It's necessary to be open–minded to other cultures and their way of communication. It's the only way harmonious tunes can be played in sync around the world. How can we truly be other–oriented if we refuse to open the communication door to those completely different from us? It's difficult at first, and nerve–wracking, but it could clear the air of differences between two people. I work at Chick–fil–A, a popular fast food franchise. Countless people visit on a day–to–day basis from all over, and communication is abundant. However, I personally struggle to communicate with people of different cultures because of DECODING, MALAPROPISM and a WILLINGNESS TO COMMUNICATE with them. It's hard for me because of how heavy their accents can be. It's hard to DECODE their words because English isn't their primary language. They'll say the wrong word or a similar word, and it causes confusion. It gets frustrating trying to work my way around what they're trying to say. He is a CIA agent who hates the government. He is a pacifist who carries a gun and so on. Switters and his grandmother, Maestra, come up with six qualities that denote the wisdom; they may or may not be required for wisdom, but they certainly drive Tom Robbins's writing style. GOOD INTRO When talking about wisdom to someone unaware of the process to OF becoming wise, one may say that wisdom is knowing all there is to know about life; another may say that wisdom is having ultimate knowledge and insight through experience. I personally agree with Tom Robbins when he describes the six qualities needed for wisdom. For instance, in the novel Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climate, Switters, a rogue CIA agent, is confined to the physical and potentially spiritual elevation of a borrowed wheelchair by the curse of a reclusive South American shaman. This particular event occurs early on in the novel and is a perfect example of spirituality. Both Switters and his acquaintance R. Potney Smithe had spells cast upon them. The shaman, End–of–Time explained what he had done, but neither of the men could truly believe or understand what had been done. It should be because Tony Robbins is a very famous and successful motivational speaker. This quote couldn't be more true. Good communicators have a very successful life and in order to master communication, one must understand communication theory. According to the text, Introducing Communication Theory Analysis and Application, communication is defined as "a social process in which individuals employ symbols to establish and interpret meaning in their environment". There are many different definitions of communication, but all communication definitions explain the process of transmitting information, the framework of the information, and the effects of that information. Understanding communication theory can be very rewarding and very beneficial to people's personal and professional lives. It can help with public speaking, interviews, relationships, and so much more. The world is always changing, which means communication is too. Taking a communication theory class helps students make sense of the world around us, express our wants, needs and desires to others in an appropriate manner. Introduction I selected the 1994 film, The Shawshank Redemption, which was directed by Frank Darabont and starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. The central message of this film is the power of hope. When Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), says to Red (Morgan Freeman) "get busy living or get busy dying," he is saying that it is only when you willingly risk everything, that freedom becomes possible. The film, The Shawshank Redemption takes place in the 1940's and is the story of a Maine banker, Andy Dufresne who is wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife and her lover and is sentenced to life imprisonment in Shawshank Penitentiary (Representations of Prison in Nineties Hollywood Cinema). In the film, Brooks tried to hurt a fellow prisoner just so he could stay in Shawshank. Each of the prisoners inside Shawshank is locked up metaphorically as well as literally (Cinematic Carcerality: Prison Metaphors in Film). The forms of isolation in Shawshank range from the large, enclosed recreation yard to the small work crews down to the cellblock, cells and solitary confinement literally (Cinematic Carcerality: Prison Metaphors in Film). The bars, strict schedules, heartless prison guards and predatory sisters add a sense of entrapment to the layers of isolation (Cinematic Carcerality: Prison Metaphors in Film). There are also examples of socioeconomic diversity in the film. Andy shares an idea with the prison guards who are unaware of the tax law. Also, when Andy explains to Red about what a rock hammer is or stones (Cinematic Carcerality: Prison Metaphors in Film). When The Shawshank Redemption was first released it ... Robbins Chapter 2 Summary Reading Robbins, Global Problems and the Culture of Capitalism, Chapter 2 Labor, and watching the Mardi Gras: Made In China documentary delivered two contrasting emotions. When reading, it's just like I'm reading for understanding, but when I watch what I've read about it put things into perspective. When reading two points that Robbins made really stood out to me in both the chapter, and the documentary, and they are discipline/control and labor. In Chapter 2 Labor one of Robbins subtitles was discipline and he says discipline/control is really based on the concept of time (p.43), and from watching the Mardi Gras documentary that is really true. Rodger, the boss, found many ways to discipline and control his workers. One way he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tom Robbins' Jitterbug Perfume Essay Tom Robbins' Jitterbug Perfume In his 1984 novel Jitterbug Perfume, Tom Robbins presents a narrative that rivals the often fantastical tales told in myth. Using classical mythology as a foundation, and, in particular, providing a loose adaptation of The Odyssey by Homer, Robbins updates and modifies characters and concepts in an effort to reinforce the importance of the journey of life and the discovery of self. Like the ancient myth–makers, Robbins commands the reader's attention with outrageous situations and events while at the same time providing characters that the reader can relate to and learn from. Jitterbug Perfume is a story of epic proportions, spanning a time–frame of almost one thousand years. The protagonist, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the beet as "the grounded moon–boat" calls to mind Odysseus's various nautical incidents and accidents (1). This discourse is chapter one of four brief chapters that introduce the modern–day characters, much as Homer begins his epic with the four books that acquaint us with the people and the situation in Ithica. Each work is told retrospectively by a third–person omniscient narrator, and the adventures of Alobar and Kudra are relayed primarily through flashbacks, much as the story of Odysseus is told. Homer's use of Athena as a character whose presence permeates and drives the action of the epic is mirrored, albeit perversely, by Robbins' use of the beet as a similar "character," an entity that permeates and affects the lives of the characters in the book. The novel, as does the epic, ends with all the primary characters coming together to effect a satisfying conclusion. A key to understanding his writing, says author Tom Robbins, is a knowledge of Greek myth. A particular influence on him is the life and work of Joseph Campbell, author of several books on mythology (Hoyser and Stookey 9). Campbell, in turn, owes influence to the insights of analytic psychologist Carl Jung. Jung recognized the patterns within myths ––– throughout the world and across all cultures –– of characters, situations, and events, and identified these recurring images as archetypes (Harris and Platzner 40). AP Frank has a breakdown in his guidance counselor's office because he cannot achieve the standards his mom has set for him. "AP Frank slumped into his chair, took a breath, broke into sobs, and poured out his feelings." He doubts that his life can improve and is trapped by the immense pressure his mom puts on him to succeed. The reader sees AP Frank reach his limit and crack; he is suffocating from the pressure to get into a top–tier college. The imagery Robbins uses to describe the breakdown AP Frank has makes the reader feel as if they are experiencing it for themselves. The reader can visualize they are in the room with AP Frank, because of how vividly his movements are described. Robbins crafts her argument by following students, because the reader is able to see how stress molds a student, and can even lead them to their emotional breaking point, like AP Frank's. Robbins is able to show the reader that high school stress, because of the pressure to get into a good college, can ruin a person's mental health, and drive them to the point of insanity. This applies to the emotions of the reader by showing them how agonizing AP Frank thinks his life is and how he thinks it will not improve. It is evident that Robbins wants the reader to feel as if changes must be made soon, so no other student will feel this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example hair shampoos targets customers that have split ends, dandruff and others. (Bhasin, 2011). There are five behavioral segmentation knowledge base. They are product application, buying process, decision makers, decision criteria, and decision maker attitudes. Product application is when the marketer tries to understand the customers need.
