Mingyue Mountain is located 15 kilometers southwest of Yuanzhou
District, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. The tourist area covers an area
of 136 square kilometers.
Mingyue Mountain consists of 12 large and small mountain peaks
above sea level. The main peak of Taiping Mountain is 1736 meters
above sea level. It belongs to subtropical humid monsoon climate. It
has resources such as yew, Chinese deciduous wood lotus and
Wentang selenium hot spring. , Moon Lake, Yungu Waterfall, Qingyun
Plank Road and other attractions. Mingyue Mountain is characterized
by Qifeng dangerous, hot spring waterfall, rare animals and plants
and Zen culture. It is a mountain-type scenic spot integrating
ecological tourism, leisure vacation, popular science education and
religious tourism.
In December 2010, Mingyueshan Wentang Town was listed as the
first village of Chinese hot springs. On October 15, 2015, the Mingyue
Mountain Tourist Area was approved as a national 5A tourist
attraction. In 2018, Mingyueshan Wentang Tourist Resort was rated
as a national tourist resort.

3. Historical evolution
When the Western Han Emperor Liu Heng was in office (the first 180
years – the first 157 years in place), Mingyue Mountain has the
“Yangshan Ancient Temple”, which is the ancient Xiangshan
Longwang incense place, and the birthplace of the Dragon King
Bodhisattva all over China.
During the Wei and Jin Dynasties (220-420 years), it was said that
the Taoist ancestors Ge Xuan and Ge Hong had successively cultivated
Xianlian alchemy in Yangshan.
During the Tang Dynasty (627-649), Mingyue Mountain was built in
Nengren Temple.
In the first year of Tang Wuzong Huichang (841), Hui Zen Zen Master
came from Yishan to Yichun Mingyue Mountain Yangshan, and Mao
Maoxiu “Yangshan Temple” passed the Fa, the world called Yangshan
Zen Master, which is based on the Lushan Zen Master Lingyou and
Yangshan Zen Master Hui Silence. The ancestors, the world called
“Yang Yangzong.”
During the middle-aged period of Emperor Xuanzong (847-859), due
to Wu Zong’s anti-Buddha, Hui Lian had gone out to hide in the place,
and Yangshan Temple was renamed as “Heiyin Temple”.
At the beginning of the Song Dynasty, Qiyin Temple was renamed
“Taiping Xingguo Temple”.
During the Song Shaoxing period (1131–1161), Nengren Temple was
renamed Leiyin Temple.
In the 7th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1304), the Taiping Xingguo
Temple was destroyed by fire, and the abbot was reorganized and
rebuilt. After 8 years, the new temple was completed in the first year
of Emperor Huangqing (1312), and it was named “Taiping Xingguo
Temple”. “, there are 28 buildings, halls, buildings, pavilions, urns,
wares, kitchens, and other buildings, flying arches, carved beams and

During the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty (1573 – 1620), Mingyue

Temple.
After the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Taiping Xingguo Temple was
repeatedly abandoned and its scale gradually narrowed.

4. In the eleventh year of Qing Daoguang (1832), the Taiping Xingguo
Temple was renamed as “Xingguo Ancient Temple”. The temple is
located in the north facing the south. It is divided into two upper and
lower halls. The upper hall is the Daxiong Hall, which is dedicated to
the Buddha statues carved in beech wood and decorated with gold.
In September 2011, the reconstruction of Qiyin Temple was
completed.
In 2017, the project of Mingyue Mountain Songcheng·Mingyue Qiangu
Scenic Area was officially signed. The project is located in the east of
Wentan Highway and south of Taipingshan Road in Wentang Tourism
Resort. It has a visitor center and parking lot, the theme city street,
and a characteristic atmosphere street. There are 3 cultural
performance plazas with an area of 1,000 square meters, including
cultural performance plaza, moon landscape lake, Mingyue ancient
theater and comprehensive supporting facilities.
On December 28, 2018, the Mingyue Mountain Songcheng·Mingyue
Jingu Scenery Area was opened.

5. Geographical environment
Location horizon
Mingyue Mountain is located in the northern section of the Luojing
Mountain Range on the border of Hunan and Jiangxi, 15 kilometers
southwest of the city center of Yichun. It is 230 kilometers away from
Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, 250 kilometers away from
Changsha and 533 kilometers away from Wuhan.
Climate characteristics
Mingyue Mountain is a subtropical humid monsoon climate with
strange landscapes and mild climate. The annual average temperature
is around 12 °C-15 °C, and the annual average precipitation is 1800
mm-2000 mm. Adapted to the growth of various animals and plants,
it is known as the “natural zoo” and the “plant kingdom”. The original
features are well protected, the vegetation is flourishing, and the air
anion content is as high as 70,000 per cubic centimeter, which is 35

6. Topography
Mingyue Mountain belongs to the Wugong Mountain Range. It

Animal resources
Mingyue Mountain is rich in wild animal resources. The wild animals
that are protected by the national I and II grades include 32 species of
yellow-bellied horned owl, white-necked long-tailed pheasant,
clouded leopard, golden cat, big lynx, small civet, and pangolin. Birds
include mountain eagle, owl, wild bird, bamboo chicken, egret,
thrush, spotted dragonfly, rhododendron, woodpecker, etc.;
amphibians include frogs, stone frogs and baby fish.

8. Plant resources
There are more than 1,100 species of 62 families in Mingyue
Mountain, including more than 300 species of arbor trees, and 13
species of national I and II protected trees. There are 667 hectares of
concentrated contiguous and vigorously growing Huangshan pine
pure forest. Mingyue Mountain is known as the “Natural Zoo and
Botanical Garden”. There are not only medicinal materials such as
rock ginseng and stone ear, but also the flowers of Mingshan
Mountain, which are named after “Mingyue Mountain”, such as leaf
red mountain tea, rhododendron, wood lotus, and deciduous wood
lotus. Pine, bamboo, cypress, alfalfa, cedar, ginkgo, silver carp, green

Selenium hot spring
Selenium-containing hot springs and glutinous hot springs are
distributed in Wentang and Hongjiang in Mingyue Mountain.
Wentang Fused Hot Spring has a history of more than 2,000 years of
Wentang Hot Spring. It is distributed within 8 square kilometers of
Wentang Town at the foot of Mingyue Mountain. The sunrise water
volume reaches 13,000 tons. The water temperature is kept at

10. Qingyun Plank Road
Qingyun Plank Road is located at the top of Mingyue Mountain at an
altitude of about 1500 meters. The total length is about 3,100 meters.

and quiet, hence the name Qingyun. It starts from Mengyue Mountain
Villa and wears a star-moon cave. It ends in the Moon Lake. The
Xingyue Cave is 150 meters long and is a natural stone cave.
Ruiqing Tower
Ruiqing Tower is located 1 km east of the summit of the main peak of
Mingyue Mountain. The boulder is about 60 meters long and nearly
100 meters high. The bottom layer is large and the direction is
constantly narrowing. There are more than a dozen horizontal
directions from bottom to top. The crack, because it is under the
Ruiqing Temple, hence the name Ruiqing Tower.

11. Yungu Waterfall
Yungu Waterfall is one of the eight scenic spots in Yichun. The Yungu
Waterfalls are divided into five levels: Yungu Waterfall, Linglong
Waterfall, Yuxian Waterfall, Yulong Waterfall and Feilian Waterfall.
The waterfall water comes from the foot of the Taiping Mountain, and

Checkerboard stone
The checkerboard stone is located in the northeast direction of the

13. Yangshan Tallinn
Yangshan Tallinn is located in the west of the southeast village of
Hongjiang Township in the south of the city, at the foot of Yangshan
Mountain. There are Tangshan, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties

as Vienna Resort Hotel, Wentang Shangpin Hotel, Wentang
Yiquanwan Hotel and High-end B&B Project Turf Hotel. At the same
time, the company has invested RMB 500 million in the Mingyue Ren
and mineral water and nutrient water projects, and invested 100
million yuan in the Swan Lake Hot Spring Health Valley.
Mingyue Mountain has built a number of rural tourism projects,
including the Twenty-four Bridge Mingyue Garden Pastoral Complex,
Jingfu Ecological Park, and Sakura Valley Phase II.

17. Honor recognition
In December 1994, the State Forestry Administration approved the
establishment of the National Forest Park in Mingyue Mountain.
In December 2010, Wenchun Town, Mingyue Mountain, Yichun City
was listed as the first hometown of Chinese hot springs.
On September 8, 2015, Yichun Mingyueshan won the “Best Hot Spring
Destination in China” award. On October 15, 2015, the National
Tourism Resources Planning and Development Quality Evaluation
Committee issued a notice that the Mingyue Mountain Tourist Area in
Yichun City, Jiangxi Province met the requirements of the national
5A-level tourist scenic spot standard and was approved as a national
5A-level tourist scenic spot.
On December 18th, 2016, the “Comprehensive Well-off and Beautiful
Rural Construction and Development Forum” hosted by China
Internet News Center and co-organized by China Environmental
Science Society was held in Beijing. At the meeting, Mingyueshan Hot
Spring Scenic Area was awarded “China’s Most Beautiful Rural
Tourism Destination”.
In 2017, Hongjiang Town of Yichun Mingyue Mountain was awarded
the National Forest Culture Town.
In 2018, Mingyueshan Wentang Tourist Resort was awarded a
national-level tourist resort.

Traffic
You can drive to Yichun City via Shanghai-Kunming, Daguang, Tongyi
and other expressways; take the train to Shanghai-Kunming high-
speed train to Yichun station; Yichun Mingyueshan Airport, open to
Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Kunming, Chengdu, Xiamen, Xi’an,
Sanya 12 cities including Guangzhou, Qingdao, Nanjing and Haikou.
From Beijing to Yichun for about 3 hours, from the two-way 8-lane
Mingyue Avenue in Yichun City, 15 minutes to the Mingyue Mountain
