Ji’an Jinggangshan Scenic Area is located in the west boundary of
Xiangdong, the northern branch of Nanling and the middle section of
Luojing Mountain. It is about 130 kilometers away from Jizhou
District of Ji’an City Center and 35 kilometers away from Xingang
District (Hongxing Street) of Jinggangshan City. The first batch of
national key scenic spots announced by the State Council in 1982. In
1991, it was named one of the top 40 Chinese tourist destinations. It
is also one of China’s 100 patriotic education demonstration bases
and China’s top ten excellent social education bases.
The highest elevation of Jinggangshan Scenic Area is 1779.4 meters.
There are 11 scenic spots, 76 scenic spots and more than 460
landscapes.
Development History
In 1950, the “Jinggangshan Special Zone” was established.
In July 1959, the Jinggangshan Administration was established with
the approval of the State Council, which is directly under the
leadership of the Jiangxi Provincial People’s Committee.
On July 1, 1965, China issued a set of special stamps for Jinggangshan.
From 1966 to 1976, the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Committee was
under the jurisdiction of the Ji’an area.
In 1977, the “Jinggangshan Administration” under the jurisdiction of
the province was restored.
In December 1984, with the approval of the State Council, it was set
up as “Jinggangshan City” and the scenic spot was placed under the
jurisdiction of Jinggangshan City.
At the 39th World Heritage Conference held in Bonn, Germany in July
3. 2015, UNESCO officially listed Jinggangshan-North Wuyishan
(Wuyishan Development Project) as a World Heritage List.
Geographical environment
Location horizon
Ji’an Jinggangshan Scenic Area is located in the west boundary of
Xiangdong, the northern branch of Nanling and the middle section of
Luojing Mountain. It is about 130 kilometers away from Jizhou
District of Ji’an City Center and 35 kilometers away from Xingang
District (Hongxing Street) of Jinggangshan City. The geographical
position is 113°49′ to 114°23′ east longitude and 26° 27′ to 26°49′
north latitude.
4. Climate
Jinggangshan has a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct
seasons and abundant rainfall. The annual average temperature is
14.2 degrees. January is the coldest month with an average
temperature of 3.2 degrees. The hottest month in July, the average
temperature is only 23.9 degrees, and the extreme maximum
temperature is only 34.8 degrees. The annual average rainfall is
1856.3 mm, the annual average rainfall is 213 days, the annual
average sunshine is 1511 hours, and the average foggy day is 96 days.
Due to the altitude and the terrain surrounding the mountains, Ciping
has the characteristics of winter length, summer short, autumn
morning and spring evening.
Landform
The main landform types of Jinggangshan are tectonic erosive middle
and low mountains, tectonic denudation hills, stacked river valley
basins and river terraces. Among them, the structure of the erosive
middle and low mountains is mainly concentrated in the
southwestern part of Jinggangshan City. The altitude is more than
1200 meters, the cutting degree is significant, the rock wall is steep,
the mountains are heavy, the mountains are dangerous; the tectonic

valley basin is mainly concentrated in Huangpi, Shangqi, Xiaqi,

constituent materials of the first-order terraces are mainly river

6. Main Attractions
Longtan
Longtan is also known as Wulongtan. Because the Wushen River leaps
to the mountain rock five times in the river less than two kilometers,
it forms five ladder-shaped waterfalls and deep pools, hence the
name. The scenic spot of Jinggang Mountain in Longtan Scenic Area
covers an area of 889 hectares, including outside the small well. It is
a natural landscape and wins with a waterfall.
Wuzhifeng
Wuzhifeng is located six kilometers southwest of Ciping. It is bounded
by the five fingers of the peaks and the height of 1438 meters. The
five-finger peaks and peaks extend from the southeast to the
northwest. They are tens of kilometers long and are uninhabited.
People can only stand on the “viewing platform” on the other side of
the river and have been listed as a nature reserve. The two peaks face
each other, and the middle is a deep valley. The bottom of the valley
is the Longqing River, which is the stone ear on the cliffs of the
Jinggang Mountain River. There is also a waterfall in Wuzhifeng, with
7. a drop of about 200 meters. Wuzhifeng Waterfall is the largest
waterfall in Jinggang Mountain.
Golden Moon
In the Dulu Mountain Scenic Area in Jinggangshan, Jinxi, and in the
Dushan Mountain Scenic Area before the name change, there are
several boulder in the jungle of Du Fu, which are slanted back and
forth. The shape resembles the black frame and the golden plaque,
which looks up to the sky day and night. People call it “ The stone of
the Golden Moon is one of the beautiful scenery of Beacon Hill. A
cluster of alpine rhododendrons grows across the stone from the
“Golden Moon”. At 50 meters to the west of the “Golden Moon” stone,
there are several large and flat stones.
8. Five wells
There are five wells in the Jinggangshan, Wujing, and five mountain
villages, which are surrounded by mountains and are like wells,
namely Dajing, Xiaojing, Zhongjing, Shangjing and Xiajing. Dajing is
the largest village.
Ciping
Ciping is the center of the Jinggangshan revolutionary struggle and is
located in a small basin between the Chongshan Terrace. There are
revolutionary museums, martyrs memorial towers, etc. From Ciping
to various memorial sites and major scenic spots, there are roads
connected. The five major whistle of the revolutionary battlefield is
not far from Ciping, and there are five whistle roads. The
Huangyangjie in the five major whistle, at an altitude of 1343 meters,
is at the top of the mountain and lives in the mountain pass. The
situation is dangerous. The local people call it the Motianling.
9. Stele forest
The Forest of Steles was built in July 1987 and opened to the public
from the Qingming Festival in 1989. Beilin is composed of a
monument pavilion, a monument, and a natural monument.
“Jinggangshan Beilin” was inscribed by the calligrapher Shu Tong.
Huang Yangjie
Huangyangjie is 17 kilometers northwest of Ciping Town, Jinggang
Mountain, at an altitude of 1343 meters. It is one of the most famous
whistle in one of the five major outlets of Jinggang Mountain
(Shuangma Stone, Tongmuling, Zhushachong, Bamian Mountain,
Huangyangjie). The mouth is connected to the border of Hunan and
Jiangxi. The terrain of the Huangyang boundary is dangerous and
difficult. On August 30, 1928, the famous battle of the Yellow Ocean
was launched here.
10. Du Fushan (Bijiashan)
Dufu Mountain is 35 kilometers southwest of Ciping and 1357 meters
above sea level. It is mainly composed of three peaks: Zhongfeng
(Yamen Peak), Xifeng (Wangzhi Peak) and Dongfeng (Guandao Peak).
Yuanwang is like an ancient pen holder, hence the name Beacon Hill.
Jinggangshan Revolutionary Martyrs
Cemetery
The Jinggangshan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery is the new
revolutionary human landscape in the Ciping Central Scenic Area. It is
located on the northern rock peak north of Ciping. The cemetery was
built in 1987 and was completed and opened in October 1987.
11. Natural resources
Jinggang Mountain belongs to the middle and ancient north shore of
the biogeographic zoning forest system–“China’s subtropical forest
province”, with a forest area of 126,500 hectares, including 46,800
hectares of timber forest and 7.133 hectares of economic forest. Other
timber forests are 7,000 hectares, shelter forests are 21,300 hectares,
and standing timber stocks are 8.04 million cubic meters. The forest
coverage rate is 81.2%. According to experts’ research, Jinggangshan
is one of the subtropical plants and one of the world’s only
subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests. There are also 78
representative plants of provincial protection, such as southern yew,
white cedar, eucalyptus, ginkgo, fragrant fruit tree, half maple, and
sightseeing wood. The area of bamboo forest is 1066.7 hectares.
There are more than 100 kinds of bamboo, bamboo, bamboo, Guanyin

volume of bamboo is 25.576 million.
12. Biological resources
Jinggangshan is one of the most abundant biological divisions on the
earth. Plants and fauna are complex, with many fauna and rich
biological resources. The relatively old and complete Cenozoic
Tertiary forest ecosystem left over 60 million years ago has been
identified with more than 3,400 species of more than 800 families of
280 families. There are 10 species listed in the IUCN Red List of
Species, 38 species listed in Appendix II of the Convention on
International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora,
and 67 listed in the Red List of Chinese Species. There are 23 species
in the “China National Key Protected Wild Plants List”. Among the
460 species of endemic seed plants in China, there are 20 species of
seed plants in Jinggangshan and 78 species listed in provincial
protection.
Animal resources
Animal species are also very rich, and 307 species of vertebrates have
been identified, including 42 species of mammals, 162 species of
birds, 41 species of reptiles, 29 species of amphibians, and 35 species
of fish. There are 21,000 species of insects, and there are many rare
and endangered animals in the area. There are 13 species listed in the
IUCN Red List of Species, and 17 are listed in the Appendix to the
Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild
13. Fauna. There are 37 kinds of “Chinese Red List of Species”, and
among the 38 kinds listed in the “China National Key Protected Wild
Animals List”, there are 25 kinds of endemic animals in Jinggang
Mountain. Representative animals include yellow-bellied horned owl,
monkey-faced eagle, Tibetan eagle monkey, sambar, pangolin, black-
headed snake, scorpion lizard, otter (monkey fish), tiger frog, spiny
frog and so on.
Water resources
There are 6 rivers with a drainage area of more than 10 square
kilometers, and the total length of the dry tributaries is 222.3
kilometers. The main rivers in the city are Longjiang, Zhengxi,
Nashanhe, Xingzhou River and Dawangshui, which belong to the
Minjiang River system and have Jinggangchong. 5 reservoirs of Luofu,
Lingkeng, Xiankou and Qiaolin. The total amount of water resources
is 1.158 billion cubic meters, divided into surface water and
groundwater. The surface water resources are abundant, with an
average annual runoff of 933 million cubic meters; the groundwater
resource reserves are 360 million cubic meters, and the average
annual runoff is 225 million cubic meters. The city’s hydropower
theoretical reserves are 132,000 kilowatts, and the available
development capacity is 112,000 kilowatts, accounting for 84.8% of
the theoretical reserves. By 2009, it has developed 82,000 kilowatts,
accounting for 73.4% of the developable capacity.
14. Mineral resources
According to geological survey data and mass reports, Jinggangshan
City has porcelain clay, rare earth, sand (rock) gold, uranium,
tungsten, tin, aluminum, zinc, magnesium, copper, sulphur, fluorite,
graphite, crystal, asbestos, granite, There are more than 10 minerals
such as antimony ore, among which porcelain earth mines and rare
earth minerals are rich in reserves, which are two dominant
minerals, and others are small ore. In the mountains of Qili Ship and
Ximei Mountain, in the mountains of Xiazhuang to Xingzhou, the
discovered Yankuang is located at the top of Jiangxi.
15. History and culture
Jinggangshan landscape is divided into eight categories: peaks, rocks,
waterfalls, meteorology, Jinyu Wangyue caves, hot springs, rare
animals and plants and alpine pastoral scenery, of which 10 are listed
as China’s key cultural relics protection units.
Among them, there are more than 30 revolutionary cultural
landscapes, including 10 national key cultural relics protection units,
2 provincial key cultural relics protection units, and 17 municipal key

Han Dynasty. It has the title of “the balance of the balance between

Jinggangshan Scenic Area is the first batch of national key scenic

Travel Information
Aviation
A number of routes are opened at Jinggangshan Airport, 80
kilometers away from Ciping. After arriving at Jinggangshan Airport,
you can take the Taijing Expressway to the Jinggangshan City
(Chiping) Scenic Area.
Railway
Jinggangshan now has direct trains, which can take you to the new
town of Jinggangshan City, and then take a half-hour car to reach the
Ciping Scenic Area. Jinggangshan Railway Station is 36 kilometers
17. away from Ciping. There is a car between the train station and the
town of Ciping. The ticket is 8 yuan/person. From the Ciping to the
train station, the morning shuttle bus is around 6:40, and the latest
one is at 18:30. One bus every 20 minutes.
You can also take the Beijing-Kowloon Line to Ji’an and transfer to the
car. You can reach Jinggangshan City (Chiping) in 2 hours. If you have
time, you can live in Ji’an for one day. Ji’an has Wentianxiang
Memorial Hall, Qingyuan Ancient Temple, Bailu College, and Qing.
The original mountain tourist area, etc.; or take the Beijing-Kowloon
line to Jinggangshan Railway Station (Taihe County), then transfer to
the car. In fact, it is closer from Ji’an to Jinggangshan.
In addition, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing and other places
have opened the Jinggangshan tourist train, from these places to
Jinggangshan are very convenient.
Highway
With the completion and opening of the Taijing Expressway, the
traffic on Shangjinggangshan has been greatly improved. Every day,
Nanchang, Ji’an and Taihe in Jiangxi Province have long-distance
buses to Jinggangshan. They can pass through Ganyu Expressway and
Taijing Expressway to Jinggangshan City (Chiping) Scenic Area. There
are also long-distance buses to Ciping in the direction of Luanchuan.
