2. What is edible vaccine ?
 Edible vaccine is a genetically influenced
food, containing related antigens that may
provide active immune response against
infection and inflammation.
 These are easy to apply, store and transport .
it could also include both mucosal and
systematic immune response; which cannot be
achieved by using an injection vaccine.

 Edible vaccines include bananas, potatoes
lettuce and tomatoes as well as rice, wheat,
soybean etc.
 Choosing a plant to be used as a vaccine is
important is important i.e it must be hardy,
Palatable with high nutritive and protein
content.

8. Disadvantages of edible vaccine
 Dosage of vaccines would be variable
 not convenient for infants
 Consistency of dosage form fruit to fruit, plant-plant, and
generations to generation is not similar
 selection of best plant is difficult.

 Easy to administer , easy to store.
