2. Beyonce’s digipak
This digipak is a ‘Greatest hits’ digipak. It has six panels and two CD compartments. The colour
scheme consists of neutral tones for example browns, beiges and silver. These colours are
associated with sophistication- something we want to achieve with our digipak. On the panel
furthest to the left there is a paragraph of writing about the artist. There are smaller images of
songs from the albums that appear on this greatest hits collaboration. There are captions
beneath each image stating the name of the album in which it is taken from and the year in
which it was released. The white text stands out clearly against the black background and the
images are fitted nicely around the information. The middle panel contains the CD and in the
background there is a medium close-up of Beyonce. The panel to the right also has a CD which is
placed over an image of the artist.
3. Rhianna’s digipak
Colour scheme of
the digipak consists
of red, dark blue,
pink and white
which features in the
music video.
Red lips match the red hair and the
colour of the roses. Red signifies
danger and love.
Simple white text is used for the artist and album name
The rose motif is used on the CD itself, in a
pink tone which fits the colour scheme.
4. The digipak has been influenced by the music video
The rose motif is shown in the music video. The reds and pinks are also present. These colours
signify love, danger and passion, qualities that Rhianna as an artist is known for. I have learnt
that the ancillary products produced have been influenced largely by the music video.
5. Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani’s digipaks show similarities. They both have the CD located in the
middle portion. They have two medium close ups of themselves on the right and left panels.
The photos are medium close ups/close ups creating intimacy with the audience. On both
digipaks there seems to be a direct image and one in action shot. There is a small section
dedicated to promoting the artists music on the left panel. Avril’s left panel has a column of
writing about her and personal message to her fans whereas Gwen’s doesn’t.
6. Further examples of digipaks
There to be a paragraph of
writing on the digipak usually
about the artist of from their
point of view.
The colour scheme on
each digipak are
consistent.
There are various images of
the artist typically medium
close-ups/close-ups, in action
shots and images of
objects/settings that relate
to the music video.
