Sharing knowledge to peers, friends and others is one of my habits and passion, and I hope that this little preparation will help others to gain more knowledge for their own benefits, family and society as a whole.

4. Solar energy is the energy received by the
earth from the sun. This energy is in the form
of solar radiation, which makes the
production of solar electricity possible.
1. What is solar energy?

5. 2. Types of solar energy
2.1. Photovoltaic Solar Technology
Photovoltaic solar technology, which
directly converts sunlight into electricity
using panels made of semiconductor
cells (France, 1954).

6. 2.2 Solar Thermal Technology
Solar thermal technology, which captures
the sun’s heat. This heat is used directly
or converted into mechanical energy and
in turn electricity.

7. 3. How are solar panels made?
• Solar World manufacturers solar panels
entirely in the USA from raw silicon to
completed solar panels. This process
involves 4 main steps:
1. Crystal growing
2. Wafering
3. Solar cell production
4. and solar panel assembly

12. 6. Why Solar Energy?
• Environmental advantages
Solar power is a great way to reduce carbon
emissions, reduce greenhouse gas emissions
and it does not pollute our environment.
• Reduced electricity bills
Solar power generates energy from the sun
and it helps to increase electricity efficiency,
so we can generate our own energy instead of
buying which means smaller energy bills.
Lak Chanboramey & Soun Tharatdy
13. • Low maintenance
Once the solar power is installed, it can last
twenty to thirty years and it does not require a
lot of major maintenance.
• Improves grid security
When people switch to solar power, people
will experience less blackouts and brownouts.
Every household that has installed solar
power functions as a small power plant that
provides people with a greater electricity grid
security.
Lak Chanboramey & Soun Tharatdy
14. 7. Conclusion
Since it is estimated that the world’s oil
reserves will last for 30 to 40 years more, the
renewable energy, solar energy, should be
considered to use widely instead of those in
order to reduce global warming and have a
better world.
