2. Twitter
• On Twitter, Taylor Swift regularly re-tweets posts
from people complimenting her music, shows,
etc. The main reason for this appears to be to
show she recognises their praise for her-
however, it can also be seen as a marketing tool,
as posting these good reviews will make more
people want to buy her music or see her live,
therefore expanding her appeal to a wider target
audience, who may be following those who have
complimented her. For example, Taylor has re-
tweeted Ruby Rose- a popular actress from
Orange Is The New Black, which could draw
attention from her fan base to her music.
3. …
• Another promotion technique Taylor Swift uses
on Twitter, is to upload posters of her upcoming
events. This way, instead of the TV or her
colleagues marketing for her, she is doing it
herself- which would be appealing to her target
audience, and also emphasises the importance of
the events- therefore capturing her target
audience and fan bases interest.
4. Instagram
• On Instagram, Taylor Swift is the most followed celebrity with over 60 million followers. Although her
Instagram features a majority of personal photos (which I will go on to explain), there are also photos on
her account which are promoting upcoming gigs, albums and music video releases.
5. …
The majority of Taylor Swifts Instagram account is filled with personal pictures. Perhaps this
contributes her vast number of followers (with her being the most followed), as she is giving
her fan base something extra by sharing her personal memories with them. This may have
added to increasing her popularity, as she is now one of the most likeable, and highest earning
music artists in the music industry today.
