2. Past
• In the past films couldn’t be
marketed as easily as todays
standards.
• For example Golden Eye from
1995 used a variety of print
adverts and TV adverts to
promote the film.
• This was effective, as at the
time you wouldn’t be on the
internet, so the TV and
magazines/newspapers were
your main source of
information. However, your
audience was probably limited.
3. Present
Skyfall – Web 2.0 marketing
• Trailer – Distributed online as a pre-video
advertisement on Youtube and can be seen on T.V
• Banner advertisements on websites such as Facebook
- These kinds of advertisements can be removed by
browser extensions like AdBlock.
• The James Bond Facebook page updated its cover
photo to promote Skyfall before its release.
- would only be seen by those who have liked the
James Bond page on Facebook.
• Today it is easier to promote films and probably more
effective, as you can reach more people, as the
internet is global.
4. Future
• In the future, Web 2.0 sites will
develop into Web 3.0 sites.
These will make it easier for
people to find what they are
looking for and therefore, easier
to promote films.
• Web 3.0 will be clever enough to
know what your interests are. As
a result, if you have watched or
searched for previous James
Bond films, it will recommend
the latest one.
• Therefore, in the future
advertisement will be more
clearly targeted and easier to do.
