Taylor does not wear high heels. She has a fear
that she will fall in front of people

What Social Media does Taylor Swift use?
After doing some searching I have found that the
social media Taylor Swift has is a facebook page,
a twitter account, instagram, as well as an offical
website. She also has many fan run webpages.

5. Social Media
Taylor Swift’s facebook, instagram and twitter
accounts are all updated quite regularly by Taylor
herself. It seems that she uses these accounts
just like any other young adult would. She posts
pictures and thoughts she has as well as news
about herself. The only difference between her
accounts and a ‘non-famous’ young adults
account is that Taylor Swift’s news is mostly
about big stuff. Stuff like recording songs and
albums, and Grammy nominations.

6. Taylor’s official website has news about her
albums, and recordings, as well as her tour
information, videos, merchandise, and a
biography about Taylor. The videos are music
videos and just videos of Taylor. Taylor’s
official website also has a feed at the bottom to
see the most recent posts Taylor has made on
twitter.

Taylor Swift has many many online communities
and forums, as well as many fans posting and
making comments about Taylor on their blogs
and web pages. The communities and forums
are created and maintained by fans of Taylor.
As much as fans try to post true facts, you never
really know if the facts they post are true or not
because they have not come from Taylor herself.
So you should not just believe everything you
read online about someone.

8. Debra Eckerling in her article “Musicians and
Social Media:5 Tips” suggests 5 things that
musicians should do. They are find your
audience, post meaningful and sharable content,
engage your current fans, continue the social
push IRL (hand out swag, put up flyers), and
post consistently. These tips help artists develop
a following of fans on social media. I feel that it
allows the fans to feel more connected on a
personal level to their favourite artist or group.

9. Find your Audience
I feel the Taylor Swift has found her audience.
She has many followers on her twitter and her
facebook page. She also has many retweets and
comments from her followers. Based on that I
would say that her followers genuinely care
about her and the things she shares.

10. Post meaningful, Sharable Content
Taylor posts instagram photos of herself, her friends, her
family, her pets, and of the things she's doing. Such as
sitting backstage at a concert, recording a new song,
baking cookies, or hanging out with her brother.
The posts are usually on her twitter as well as her
facebook and the pictures are from instagram.
I would say that this is meaningful content because it is
just like the stuff every other young adult posts, but
Taylor also includes her concerts and recordings in
hers.

11. Engage Your Current Fans
I do not think Taylor does a good job of engaging her
fans on the facebook and twitter. On these sites it is
more of just her posting things and her fans
commenting. She does not really comment back or
answer that many questions. As for her official website,
you can join her mailing list, or click a link to get to her
facebook, instagram, twitter, YouTube or iTunes pages.
There is really not much engaging going on on the
website either.
I think that to properly engage her fans she should post
questions, answer fan questions or at least comment on
her fans comments.

12. Continue The Social Push IRL
Hand Out Swag, Put Up Flyers
I do not see Taylor continuing the social push in
real life. She is good at pushing the connection
in social media, but I see nothing about her
continuing that offline. The only offline thing I
see is that you can purchase Taylor Swift
merchandise from the online store on her
official website.

13. Post Consistently
The consistency I see from Taylor swift comes from her
twitter and instagram pages. Her facebook seems to be
updated less frequently then the other two. I find that
while her official webpage is kept up to date, a lot less is
shared on it then on her twitter account. Her twitter
account is updated frequently with just whatever she is
doing that day that she decides to share or take a
picture of. I feel that that keeps her fans feeling
personally connected to her and like they are friends
because Taylor is posting ‘normal’ stuff often.
