The study evaluated the impact of floating row covers and transparent polyethylene mulch on insect populations, virus incidence, and cantaloupe yield in Colima, Mexico. Floating row covers successfully excluded pests like aphids and sweetpotato whiteflies while reducing virus symptoms and significantly increasing yields, with the best results from the combination of both techniques. The findings suggest that these methods may be effective for improving crop productivity in areas affected by insect-borne viruses.
