The document discusses service design from a modeling perspective that incorporates service thinking, system thinking, design thinking, and business thinking to provide an integrated approach across disciplines in the service design process. It outlines key concepts in service science, service systems, value co-creation, design thinking, and business thinking to demonstrate how an integrated modeling approach can effectively manage information and knowledge from design to engineering of service systems.
INFORMS 2014 - The Integration Quality Gap in Service System NetworksStephen Kwan
Service providers often have to construct networks of partners to fulfill service obligations to customers. We introduce an integration service quality gap that represents the difference between customer service quality expectation and perceived service quality in his service journey in a service system network. The integration service quality gap is incorporated with traditional service quality gaps to form a more complete treatment of service quality metrics in such an environment.

Capability Patterns as the Enablers for Model-based Development of Business C...CaaS EU FP7 Project
Lately the notion of capability has emerged in information system engineering as the means to support development of context dependent organizational solutions and supporting IT applications. To this end a Capability Driven Development (CDD) approach has been proposed. As key part of CDD is the concept of patterns that is used to support the capability design from existing solutions as well as the adjustment of the capability delivery at run-time. A pattern template and meta-model is presented together with the CDD lifecycle that incorporates pattern development and use. The initial experiences of use of the patterns as part of CDD at three industrial use cases are also presented.

Ever wondered if and how service design techniques could be applied to change management? This presentation at the Service Design Global Conference 2012 in Paris will show how research, co-design and immersive testing techniques with stakeholders and users can mitigate the risk of rejection and the cost of change failure. I shared the successes (and failures!) in the approaches they used in recent change management projects. I also proposed a framework for user centric change management to provide robust and replicable practices and tools to support effective change.

Shortly after he started working at Edlund A/S – a private company that supplies systems for the administration of insurance portfolios (life, pension, unit linked, as well as non-life). He is still there. At Edlund he currently divides his time between managing the development process for a team of skilled developers as scrummaster, developing on a wide variety of core systems and tools, and arranging talks on various software development and computer science-related topics.

6. Abstract
This presentation looks at service design from a
modeling perspective that incorporates service
thinking, system thinking, design thinking, and
business thinking. This approach provides an avenue of
integration across different disciplines and roles in the
service design process. A desirable outcome of this
integration would be more effective information and
knowledge management from design to engineering of
service systems.

7. Some Definitions
Service Science is short for Service Science, Management,
Engineering and Design (SSMED1).
Service Science is concerned with the study of Service Systems.
cf. Computer Science is concerned with the study of Computer Systems.
Service Systems are man-made complex systems designed to
improve the quality of life by co-creating value through value
propositions among the stake-holders.
