1. YouTube Video Submission Guidelines
Teachers: THANK YOU for your interest in creating a video to showcase a lesson plan
for students across North Carolina. I am excited to build our library of videos for
students across North Carolina to see a friendly, calm teacher during school closures.
Please review the following guidelines when developing your video.
Disclaimer: This is a true work in progress! This is uncharted territory for me, so there
may be some technical stumbling blocks along the way. Please be patient with me as I
answer questions and learn the ropes for creating a YouTube channel.
General Guidelines
1. Content- choose to focus on one of the following age groups: grades K-5 or grades
6-12. Choose a video about any lesson topic that you are excited to create. Feel free to
address the following subjects: Literacy, ELA, Social Studies, Math, Science, STEM,
Music, Art, PE, CTE, etc… This is your time to have fun and develop an engaging
lesson with students across the state.
2. Record your video in five minute increments. Your lesson should be between 20-30
minutes in total. I need the video to be recorded in five minute increments in order to
format it with a program I am using to create a unified look for all of the videos.
3. Please send a picture of you and a short bio when you email your video. Include the
grade you teach and your district. I will use this to promote your video via Facebook and
Twitter.
4. Don’t be afraid to be creative! Be fun and engaging. Make your students want to
come back again to see more videos!
5. Be positive and calming to help develop social emotional learning strategies during
these uncertain times. Our students are nervous and picking up on the stresses of their
families and communities. Use this time to connect and be positive for our students.
6. Your videos DO NOT have to be perfect! Just do your best! We need you!
