REFLECTION ON SECOND PHASE OF
PEER TEACHING
Teaching practice is essentially an integral part of third
semester B.Ed. curriculum and due the Covid -19 pandemic
situation it was not a recommended one but we were able to
organize a Peer Teaching session under the guidence and
supervision of Jijan Sir via Google Meet. We started our
second phase of Peer Teaching on 1st
week of December 2020.
We were asked to complete 10 peer teaching lesson and we
completed 5 lessons in the first phase of peer teaching session
which held on the month of October 2020.
We were able to complete the rest 5 lesson in the second
phase of peer teaching session. For the completion of our peer
teaching lessons we submitted 5 lesson templates in prior to
the class. Everyone presented classes for about 20 to 25
minutes and they put their effort in presenting each class and
preparing colourful PowerPoint Presentations for that in
better way. All the classes I observed had something for me to
learn and understand about the technique or method of
teaching.
I took 5 peer teaching lessons, 1 lesson on poem First
Showers by Nalini Sharma, 3 lessons on prose The Little
Round House by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey and 1 lesson on
language element – perpositions.
I prepared 5 lesson templates and submitted in prior to the
class and prepared PowerPoint Presentions for the classes. I
tried my best to make my PPT slides to look attractive and
appealing to the peers. I included content appropriate videos
and images for the instruction purpose so that the class would
be more interactive and effective. I began each class by
greeting students and have a small informal interaction with
them and students reciprocated very well. After the informal
interaction I gradually lead the students to the topic by either
asking a few general questions or by presenting video/audio
with that I presented the topic and introduce the author/poet.
Then follows a model reading, track reading, presentaion of
new vocabulary and breif explantion of the paragraphs/
stanzas. This follows a simple text/grammar based activity, a
simple review session in all these parts peers actively
participated.
This peer teaching session helped me a lot in building my
confidence in both preparation and classroom interaction. The
suggestions given by Jijan Sir during our peer teaching
session definitely helped me in later classes.
REFLECTION ON VIDEO LESSONS
Inorder to complete our 40 lessons we were requested to
prepare 5 video lessons based on lesson templates prepared in
prior. We were asked to prepare video lessons not less than 20
minutes duration and either a video of taking a class or a screen
recorded video was accepted.
I took 5 video lesson based on the 8th
standard chapters – The
Sower by Victor Hugo(poem), The School for Sympathy by E.V
Lucas. I prepared 5 lesson templates, 2 lesson templates on the
chapter – The Sower and the rest 3 lesson templates on the
chapter – The School for Sympathy in prio and got approved.
Then I prepared PowerPoint Presentaions for the 5 lessons, I
tried to make all my PPT slides look attractive and appealing to
students, I included topic appropriate images, videos and some
animations in the slides. I also included texual and language
activities for each class. After the preparation of PPT slides and
materials then with 2 days I recorded all 5 video lessons. I used
screen recorder for the video recording and later edited the
video and uploaded the video to the drive. In each video class, I
began the class by greeting the students and with an informal
interaction I gradually move to the introduction of the topic and
have a model reading of the chapter. Then a breif explanation of
the stanza/pargraphs was given and some texual or language
based activities are presented and I conclude the class with a
simple review session and follow up activity.
The planning, preparation and execution of video lesson was a
great experience for me.

REFLECTION ON SECOND PHASE OF PEER TEACHING Teaching practice is essentially an integral part of third semester B.Ed. curriculum and due the Covid -19 pandemic situation it was not a recommended one but we were able to organize a Peer Teaching session under the guidence and supervision of Jijan Sir via Google Meet. We started our second phase of Peer Teaching on 1st week of December 2020. We were asked to complete 10 peer teaching lesson and we completed 5 lessons in the first phase of peer teaching session which held on the month of October 2020. We were able to complete the rest 5 lesson in the second phase of peer teaching session. For the completion of our peer teaching lessons we submitted 5 lesson templates in prior to the class. Everyone presented classes for about 20 to 25 minutes and they put their effort in presenting each class and preparing colourful PowerPoint Presentations for that in better way. All the classes I observed had something for me to learn and understand about the technique or method of teaching. I took 5 peer teaching lessons, 1 lesson on poem First Showers by Nalini Sharma, 3 lessons on prose The Little Round House by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey and 1 lesson on language element – perpositions.
  • 3. I prepared 5 lesson templates and submitted in prior to the class and prepared PowerPoint Presentions for the classes. I tried my best to make my PPT slides to look attractive and appealing to the peers. I included content appropriate videos and images for the instruction purpose so that the class would be more interactive and effective. I began each class by greeting students and have a small informal interaction with them and students reciprocated very well. After the informal interaction I gradually lead the students to the topic by either asking a few general questions or by presenting video/audio with that I presented the topic and introduce the author/poet. Then follows a model reading, track reading, presentaion of new vocabulary and breif explantion of the paragraphs/ stanzas. This follows a simple text/grammar based activity, a simple review session in all these parts peers actively participated. This peer teaching session helped me a lot in building my confidence in both preparation and classroom interaction. The suggestions given by Jijan Sir during our peer teaching session definitely helped me in later classes.
  • 4. REFLECTION ON VIDEO LESSONS Inorder to complete our 40 lessons we were requested to prepare 5 video lessons based on lesson templates prepared in prior. We were asked to prepare video lessons not less than 20 minutes duration and either a video of taking a class or a screen recorded video was accepted. I took 5 video lesson based on the 8th standard chapters – The Sower by Victor Hugo(poem), The School for Sympathy by E.V Lucas. I prepared 5 lesson templates, 2 lesson templates on the chapter – The Sower and the rest 3 lesson templates on the chapter – The School for Sympathy in prio and got approved. Then I prepared PowerPoint Presentaions for the 5 lessons, I tried to make all my PPT slides look attractive and appealing to students, I included topic appropriate images, videos and some animations in the slides. I also included texual and language activities for each class. After the preparation of PPT slides and materials then with 2 days I recorded all 5 video lessons. I used screen recorder for the video recording and later edited the video and uploaded the video to the drive. In each video class, I began the class by greeting the students and with an informal interaction I gradually move to the introduction of the topic and have a model reading of the chapter. Then a breif explanation of the stanza/pargraphs was given and some texual or language
  • 5. based activities are presented and I conclude the class with a simple review session and follow up activity. The planning, preparation and execution of video lesson was a great experience for me.
