young children

Keep Environment Kid-Friendly
● Keep unsafe objects locked up or out of reach. (EX:
Bleach)
● Get to know your child’s caretaker (background checks)
● Take safety precautions: Lock up doors, use smoke
detectors
● Correct any potential dangers.
Provide your child with basic needs
● Water
● Food
● Clothing
● Shelter
● First aid kit
● Clothing Appropriate for the season/weather
➢ Like a sweater in the winter
Provide your child with self-esteem needs
● Accept your child’s uniqueness
● Encourage (don’t be pushy) your child to join a club,
activity, or sport
● Notice your child’s achievements
● Encourage proper hygiene
● Set expectations for your child (reasonable expectations)
● Use your child’s misbehavior as a time to teach
expectations
Teach your child morals and values
● Honesty
● Respect
● Responsibilities
● Compassion
● Patience
● Forgiveness
● Generosity
Develop mutual respect for your child
● Use respectful language
● Respect his/her feelings
● Respect his/her opinions
● Respect his/her privacy
● Respect his/her individuality
Influences that parents have on their children
● Kids will use their parents as role models
● Poverty also has an effect on kids
● Parents need to not work away for so long as well
FCCLA events
● Focus On Children: An individual or team event - recognizes participants who
use Family and Consumer Sciences skills to plan and conduct a child
development project
● Early Childhood Education: An individual event - recognizes participants who
demonstrate their ability to use knowledge and skills gained from their
enrollment in an occupational early childhood program.
● Life Event Planning: An individual or team event - recognizes participants
who apply skills learned in Family and Consumer Sciences courses to
manage the costs of an event.
Game
Good or Bad is a game for children that helps them learn about Dangerous
and Safe things.
● How you play this game
● you print out cards with dangerous and safe things.
○ EX: Toys, knife, bleach, teddy bear.
● Then you put the cards on the floor and let your child walk/crawl
towards them.
● Reward your child
● Positive reinforcement will teach your child to know about bad or good
things

Academies to go to pursue these careers
● Chantilly Academy has a program called teachers for
tomorrow
● Edison Academy has teachers for tomorrow as well
Summary
When taking care of your child there is a lot of things to
think about. Your child is very precious. When you do all of
these steps you can keep your child safe and happy. You will
be tired of taking your child but it is all worth it. Your child
will grow up and be happy with the care you have given
them as well.

Young children

  • 1. Taking care of young children By: Thien, and Israel
  • 2. Keep Environment Kid-Friendly ● Keep unsafe objects locked up or out of reach. (EX: Bleach) ● Get to know your child’s caretaker (background checks) ● Take safety precautions: Lock up doors, use smoke detectors ● Correct any potential dangers.
  • 3. Provide your child with basic needs ● Water ● Food ● Clothing ● Shelter ● First aid kit ● Clothing Appropriate for the season/weather ➢ Like a sweater in the winter
  • 4. Provide your child with self-esteem needs ● Accept your child’s uniqueness ● Encourage (don’t be pushy) your child to join a club, activity, or sport ● Notice your child’s achievements ● Encourage proper hygiene ● Set expectations for your child (reasonable expectations) ● Use your child’s misbehavior as a time to teach expectations
  • 5. Teach your child morals and values ● Honesty ● Respect ● Responsibilities ● Compassion ● Patience ● Forgiveness ● Generosity
  • 6. Develop mutual respect for your child ● Use respectful language ● Respect his/her feelings ● Respect his/her opinions ● Respect his/her privacy ● Respect his/her individuality
  • 7. Influences that parents have on their children ● Kids will use their parents as role models ● Poverty also has an effect on kids ● Parents need to not work away for so long as well
  • 8. FCCLA events ● Focus On Children: An individual or team event - recognizes participants who use Family and Consumer Sciences skills to plan and conduct a child development project ● Early Childhood Education: An individual event - recognizes participants who demonstrate their ability to use knowledge and skills gained from their enrollment in an occupational early childhood program. ● Life Event Planning: An individual or team event - recognizes participants who apply skills learned in Family and Consumer Sciences courses to manage the costs of an event.
  • 9. Game Good or Bad is a game for children that helps them learn about Dangerous and Safe things. ● How you play this game ● you print out cards with dangerous and safe things. ○ EX: Toys, knife, bleach, teddy bear. ● Then you put the cards on the floor and let your child walk/crawl towards them. ● Reward your child ● Positive reinforcement will teach your child to know about bad or good things Bad good
  • 10. Careers that would be associated with care of young children ● Babysitters ● Tutors ● Teachers Academies to go to pursue these careers ● Chantilly Academy has a program called teachers for tomorrow ● Edison Academy has teachers for tomorrow as well
  • 11. Summary When taking care of your child there is a lot of things to think about. Your child is very precious. When you do all of these steps you can keep your child safe and happy. You will be tired of taking your child but it is all worth it. Your child will grow up and be happy with the care you have given them as well.
