Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Sadhu Vaswani International School, New Delhi
At Sadhu Vaswani International School, New Delhi, we believe that there is no substitute for ‘Education Through Action’ and that
exploring people, places, cultures, economic opportunities, and technological advancements through travel, complements and
completes the educational experience. This philosophy matches our endeavour to create responsible and dynamic global leaders
and global citizens by bringing the knowledge of the world to the classroom as well as encouraging students to go out into the world.
These two methods are critical to create the three pillars of global citizenship based on empathy, understanding and International
collaboration.
In line with this mission, our students recently journeyed to USA under a program titled EdTerra’s East Coast Space Adventure. We
chose this program for its focus on exposing students to space exploration and technology at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. They
also visited historic, natural and modern marvels of Washington, DC, Niagara Falls, New York City and Boston. To augment the
broader program, we selected the Young Authors Program, which ensured students’ engagement and immersion. This Student
Travel Chronicle is an outcome of this collaborative and exploratory module that our students partook in, along with the students
of St. Joseph High School, Pune. It captures the entire journey in the students’ own words and photographs. It even showcases their
learning from the intense, nine day journey to one of the world’s most successful democratic nations.
I would also like to recognize the efforts of EdTerra Edventures; a company that is well aware of co-curricular and extra-curricular
goals and developmental needs of students. We acknowledge the contribution of their staff, especially their on-journey educator, the
Journey Mentor and Visa Assistance Services. Their professionalism has resulted in an effortless, safe and enriching travel experience
for each one of us and for the group.
Lastly, we extend a heartfelt thanks to the students, who participated in the program enthusiastically. Our willing learners had an
experimental learning experience and the beautiful memories will remain with them forever. This photo-book would continue to
remind them of the wonderful moments of togetherness in the US! Each parent may feel proud of this publication that will keep
reminding their daughters of their achievement and capabilities, all life long. Happy reading!

7. MESSAGE FROM EDTERRA
MESSAGE FROM EDTERRA
TRAVELLING TO KNOWLEDGE
Sincerely,
Christine Massey
Senior Manager, Program Development Team
A journey to foreign soil is always replete with learning and excitement for any young and inquisitive mind. When the destination is
as rich as the East Coast of USA, one can only imagine the myriad ways in which Indian students may absorb and construct learning
out of the many differences and similarities that mark the cultures and people of these two great nations.
For EdTerra, an educational journey is about enabling students to construct knowledge through a meaningful encounter with a new
culture, without diluting their fun and excitement or restricting their wandering, curious minds. EdTerra achieves this through its
Program Development Team (PDT), which is comprised of both Indian and international experts. The PDT carefully designs culturally
neutral tools that enable students to meaningfully observe, record and articulate their impressions. These tools are deployed through
a process that encourages teamwork, meaningful discussions, recording observations through digital media and finally synthesizing
all this into a media product that showcases the ideas and learning of the students.
This Student Travel Chronicle, ‘East Coast Space Adventure’, is one such media product that captures the nine day journey of learning
of the gifted students of Sadhu Vaswani International School, New Delhi, to Kennedy Space Centre, Orlando along with Washington,
DC, Niagara Falls, New York City and Boston. This beautiful book serves as a window into the U.S. and above all the amazing world
of NASA for those students, peers and parents who could not be a part of the journey. It showcases the intellectual and creative
capacities of the students, credit for which is rightfully due to their parents and school.
EdTerra Edventures would like to thank Sadhu Vaswani International School, New Delhi, for their efforts and support which made
this journey of discovery possible, with a special mention of the Principal, Ms. Neeta Rastogi, for guiding us throughout the process
of finalizing and undertaking the journey. EdTerra would also like to thank the accompanying teachers for their sense of adventure
and dynamism that the French call joie de vivre. Their energy made our jobs easy, and more importantly, made for a more memorable
journey for the students. We encourage you to read on and re-live the learning and adventures of these students through the words
and photographs that follow.

The next city we visited was Buffalo, and we were all set to
experience one of the most beautiful creations of Mother
Nature. Seeing the Niagara Falls gave us a heavenly feeling,
especially when the Maid of the Mist ferry took us close to the
Falls. The following day we left for Washington, DC. It is defined
by imposing neoclassical monuments and buildings such as
the Capitol Building, White House and Lincoln Memorial.
The second last city on our journey was New York, the ultimate
city that never sleeps. Here we saw the Empire State Building,
United Nations Headquarters, Times Square and its various
shops, the bright lights of Broadway and dozens of museums
and art galleries. We also visited the ‘One World Observatory’
from where we could get a 360-degree view of New York City.
We also visited the Statue of Liberty; we boarded a ferry that
took us to Liberty Island where we got to see Lady Liberty up
close.
The last city we visited was Boston, where we embarked on a
city tour that showed us the Harvard University and MIT. Soon
it was time to head back with our minds filled with memories
and information, and wishing that we’ll come back on the next
tour and have a wonderful experience just like this journey of
ours to USA!!
When we got to know about a trip full of fun and education
with our friends to USA, we were eagerly waiting for the golden
date of 4th May to come soon. It was an 18 hour journey from
Dubai to Orlando.
On the first day of our journey, we were excited about our visit
to Disneyland. We first went to Downtown Disney where we
clicked loads of glamorous photos of the dream land we were
in. Soon, our bodies, minds and hearts were anxiously waiting
to enter the magical world of Walt Disney. The rides there were
thrilling and nailed our excitement. The fireworks display at
night was the best experience we had ever had. The next day
we had a blast at Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure, with
our favorite Marvel characters, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park and
Toon Lagoon. We were very excited about the next two days as
we spent them at Kennedy Space Center, which was the main
focus of our journey to the East Coast of USA. Our visit to KSC
brought us face to face with the latest news, images and videos
from America’s space agency. We enjoyed IMAX 3D movies like
Journey to Space. The ‘Astronaut Encounter’ was an inspiring
session. We interacted with an astronaut who shared all her
experiences about her missions into space, giving us hopes
and goals to achieve. We had an amazing first day at KSC. The
next day was focused on a bus tour where we received a ton of
information about NASA’s satellites, space missions and also
its glorious history. We then went to Cocoa Beach, which was
amazing.

As young and keen travelers, keeping our excitement levels
high is a priority for us. The journey hadn’t begun but our
minds were already looking forward to the amusement parks.
The wonders of the world of Disney sprinkled magic on us. The
virtual characters coming to life was something difficult to
imagine. The wait seemed long while we seemed quite restless.
Ups and downs, water rides and rounds. The toy train took us
to the various townships that were home to different rides. The
sparkling water of Splash Mountain and the supersonic race of
Space Mountain had our blood pumping. During the parade,
we saw Beauty and Beast walk down the road, followed by Anna
and Elsa and then the big smiles of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
The day ended with a grand fireworks display. Music played
while laser lights danced off the castle, and fireworks filled
the skies. Leaving was sad but as we sat on the ferry and the
twinkling stars kept us upbeat and happy. The day was finally
over!
With a new morning, a new spirit and new joy, we reached
Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventures. With a ride as
fierce as the Hulk roller coaster, we knew we were in for a
fabulous day. The adventures on the roller coasters were heart
throbbing. Jurassic Park gave us an opportunity to meet the
dinosaurs. The land of Harry Potter gave shelter to us Potter
heads, who always wanted to experience the Wizardly World.
The simulation ride and Dragon Challenge caused goose
bumps. Next, the visit to Toon Lagoon with comic strips all
over kept us entertained. We clicked pictures with Green
Lantern, Spiderman and Green Goblin. Doctor Doom’s Fearfall
increased our blood pressure, while Spiderman’s virtual reality
was equally amazing. The adrenalin rush we felt while taking
a picture with a raptor was beyond our imagination. Standing
in the splash zone and being splashed with water can never
be erased from our memories. The land was filled with joy and
laughter of children, which made our day even more joyous.
We enjoyed as many rides as we could but we kept looking for
more. None of us wanted to exit this wonderful world of rides.
The visit to both the amusement parks was truly magical. The
amusement parks taught us two very important lessons for
life; first, happiness can only be achieved with patience and
second, that living each moment roots you stronger to life and
the society you live in.
Where adventure ends is exactly where it begins…!

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER (St. Joseph High School)

Would you like to discover the secrets of the stars? Well,
then KSC is the castle of your dreams. It is a place where
dreams turn into reality, with science at the forefront. At KSC,
with every step you learn something new about space – the
greatest mystery known to man! So let us show you a glimpse
of our unforgettable experience at Kennedy Space Center. This
educational yet joyful journey of space exploration started
with an overwhelming movie, which shook us up. It invoked a
curiosity in us and made us eager to receive and process the
facts and statistics given to us at KSC. The second movie was
based on the love and support given to the astronauts by their
families and loved ones.
We also watched different presentations, whereby people told
us who their heroes were, and that being a hero is not about
achieving great things but about achieving small things in
a great way. The final presentation was delivered using ultra
modern 3D technology. It told us the story of how the space
shuttle program failed miserably, again and again and again,
only to rise from the ashes like a phoenix – faster, stronger and
better than ever.
After these amazing presentations, we had an amazing
encounter with an astronaut – Nicole Stott. She worked on
various experiments aboard the International Space Station.
Her longest stay in space was for 3 months, which still wasn’t
enoughforher.Shesharedexperiencesofhergloriousconquest
of space by stepping into the space station for the first time.
After lunch we were told that we would get an opportunity to
experience a shuttle launch simulator. The process leading
up to the beginning of the simulator was frightening. But
the simulator itself was fun. The Rocket Garden was our next
destination. It was a place where we could view prototypes of
the greatest mechanical marvels known to man – rockets.
We ended our inspiring journey at KSC with a bus tour of the
restricted areas where NASA’s commercial crew and cargo
work. We got to see a few launchpad sites like 39 A and 39 B
situated on manmade islands in the Banana river. We also saw
some alligators on the way. We were lucky enough to see the
factory where Orion – NASA’s multipurpose crew vehicle was
being built.
The bus tour concluded at the Saturn V Center, where we saw
the Apollo 8 and its firing room, and the gigantic Saturn V,
the largest rocket ever built. We also had the opportunity to
touch an actual moon rock. We couldn’t have asked for a better
ending to this wonderful experience.

36. Nature has undefined and endless beauty, and after visiting
Buffalo, we realized that Niagara Falls is one of the major
contributors to this endless beauty. Niagara Falls shares the
border of Ontario, Canada and the state of New York in USA.
Niagara Falls is made of three major falls namely, Horseshoe
Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. No matter what time
of the year one visits, whether it is the beautiful rainbows
glistening in the mist, or the magnificent ice bridge created
by the cold of winter, Niagara Falls always seem to amaze its
viewers.
As we were going towards the Falls we could see the huge
Niagara River on our way which gave us a hint of the enormity
of Niagara Falls. Finally, we reached Niagara Falls and the scene
was stunning. We could see huge amounts of white water
gushing down rapidly, at an approximate speed of 40km per
hour, from a height of 167 feet. Finally we collected our tickets
and were ready for the Maid of the Mist ferry ride. We wore our
plastic ponchos and entered the ferry. It was extremely windy,
and that turned our noses red. We were very excited to feel
the Falls closely. We clicked a lot of pictures of the beautiful
Falls so that we could embrace memories for future and also to
show to our friends. We could also see the beautiful Rainbow
Bridge that connects Canada and America. Finally we started
moving towards the Falls and we were very excited. We saw the
Horseshoe Falls.
We were surprised to see the power of the falling water and
the whooshing noise that made the Falls quite scary and
dangerous. The colorful rainbow added to the beauty of the
Falls. We could feel the chilly mist on our faces, making our
hands numb, but the ponchos helped us remain quite dry.
We clicked pictures in the front of the massive Falls. We were
laughing and enjoying every bit of our small ferry ride. We were
trying to see and absorb every part of the incredible Falls so
as to capture live images in our mind. Soon we were all wet.
Visibility lessened due to the mist as we went closer to the
Falls but it was well worth it. We loved the chilly and majestic
environment. Soon we saw the ferry taking a U-turn so as to
take us back. We wanted to stay for longer, but it was getting
cold. Soon it was time to go back.
We left the ferry and entered the Maid of Mist store where we
bought beautiful key chains, mugs and t-shirts. We bought
ourselves souvenirs so as to preserve memories of the most
beautiful Falls in the world. As we were leaving, we wished
to come back again to experience the mesmerizing and
unforgettable moments we spent there. In the end we would
like to say that Niagara Falls is one of the most precious gems
of nature.

‘Land of the free, home of the brave’- What else could it have
been, other than the city of New York. Due to its wide number
of attractions, it has caught the eye of each and every tourist.
We were proud to have been given the opportunity of visiting
this amazing city on our fascinating journey. We were unable
to believe our very own eyes and we were looking forward
to this journey. Soon, all of us were ready to undertake this
amazing journey to New York. Our first attraction was the
Empire State Building. Our eyes could not capture the entire
building at once, for there was a lot to see. We stood in front
of this magnificent structure, dazzled by the architectural
genius of Homer G. Balcom, the engineer responsible for its
construction. After gazing at the Empire State Building, we
had a few photo stops where we clicked many photographs.
The stops included three major bridges i.e. Brooklyn Bridge,
Manhattan Bridge, Willamsburg Bridge and the Trump World
Tower.
Next on the cards was a visit to the 9/11 Memorial and One
World Observatory, which were the two most important
parts of our New York journey. The 9/11 Memorial was made
in loving memory of the people who had died in the 9/11
terrorist attacks, one of the most tragic incidents in the history
of USA. We covered the entire memorial and the One World
Observatory deck. It was one the best experiences in the city
of New York.
By the end of the day we were tired but still had the energy
to visit Times Square. It is a major commercial intersection.
As it is brightly adorned with billboards and advertisements,
this spectacular place is truly unforgettable. After doing some
window-shopping we stopped at the red stairs, located at the
heart of Times Square.
On the following day we were excited to finally visit the Statue
of Liberty. We took a ferry to Liberty Island. The copper statue
is a gift from the people of France to the people of the US and
is an icon of freedom for USA. We felt very nostalgic before
leaving the statue. This was our journey to New York, which
turned out to be an amazing and interesting one.

want more? Hello! I am Prabhdeep
Kaur and I study in Grade 11. This
journey to USA will always be
memorable. From the very first
destination, Orlando, the trip was
true to my expectations. My space
theories were given a practical sonic
boom at Kennedy Space Center. I
got a chance to learn and discover
a lot more. Being a writer at heart,
I also got an opportunity to elevate
my writing with my first hand
experiences.This trip has been awe
inspiring and a truly memorable
crowning jewel in my memories.
It is rightly said, dreams do come
true! Hey, I am Shilpa Balani and
I study in Class 12. Our journey
through the East Coast of United
States had been an unforgettable
experience. This journey not only
gave an opportunity to have fun but
also taught us time-management
and gave us a sneak peek inside the
traditions and culture of America.
We also had fun-filled and relaxing
days in Disney’s Magic Kingdom
and Universal Studios’ Islands of
Adventure. The depth of Niagara
Falls reminds me that we should be
rooted to our morals and values and
on the other hand, the height of New
York’s skyscrapers inspire me to
work hard and touch the sky. Hope
you enjoy this book like we did
while writing it.

many places in few days. Mr. Raj,

and importance of these places.
His good sense of humor made the
journey more enjoyable. Students
learned to manage themselves in
a different environment away from
home.Overall,this was a memorable
trip.
I am a teacher in Sadhu Vaswani
International School for the last 24
years. I am grateful to the school
management and my Principal

NASA was inspiring and educational
whereas Niagara Falls was a wow
experience! If Washington, DC
talked about the political history of
USA, Manhattan symbolized trade,
economy and tourism potential
of the west. The journey became
a memorable experience with
the help of EdTerra and Mr. Raj

prestigious MIT was something
I was looking forward to. I was
mesmerized by the magnificent set

excellence. Our visit to Disneyland
