- 2. The Website The website is okay, it looks a bit over loaded with words and pictures. You need to break it down a bit. Don’t put so many stories on the front page, only put the exclusive stories on the front page, the stories that will capture the audience eyes. Even though the news paper is about York, try to go out of the newspaper comfort zone, look further out. Look for crime stories around york and around North Yorkshire.
- 3. The Website The website seems a bit confusing. You have a extreme story next a story that isn’t anywhere as serious. The story about the brothers is a lot more serious than the Irishman. Then after that is a story about children showing off their creative skills. You cant put all those different stories next to each other, the website needs tidying up. The website needs to be broken down into more sections.
- 4. The Website I think you need to use a different font for the story titles, you need something more bold. Then have a slightly larger font for the brief of the story which is underneath the title. I think you could add more colour to the website, it’s very plain, it needs something to catch the audience eyes. Clearly your chosen colours are blue, grey, black writing and a white background. Try to have blue titles rather than using the usual black titles.

The Website The length of the page is ridiculous, people want to get on the website to see the most interested stories, for example, the top 5 stories of the day or of the week which can then get changed every day or week. By putting all your stories on the front page, the people wont bother looking more into your website because all your stories will just be on your front page, they wont think that you have more stories.
- 6. The Website I think the advert underneath the newspaper name/logo should go, you want the attention to be on your newspaper the most rather than a car advert. I like the position of the newspaper title, I also like the layout of were the columns are. The bottom column is very helpful, you can clearly see what the different sections of the website and therefor it makes it easier for people to get to what they want quicker.
- 7. The Website I think those sections on the right hand side shouldn’t be on the front page. I think they should have their own button on the column on top of the page rather than being on the front page. Another thing I think you should do, is launch your own app which can be available for android and iPhone. If you are trying to reach out to the younger audience, you need to be more on the media. Young people don’t leave their phone, so therefor you need to be with them.
- 8. The Website Creating your own app means you can reach out to more people which can result in a better acknowledge of the news and the adverts that the press shows york. Sending out notifications every time something big happens to everyone phone via the app means they will be more aware of the newspaper. However, don’t put all your stories on the app, otherwise you may lose money due to printed newspaper not selling. You need to inform the audience via the app but don’t over fill them with news, leave them hanging so they want to go buy the newspaper.
- 9. How to improve the website - I think you should tidy up the website and not put so many stories on the front page. Just put the exclusive stories of the day. - I think you should talk about the positive of york, e.g. new shops, new build up areas… so you are keeping the audience around the area updated with what's happening. - As a newspaper, you need to make sure you are everywhere. Media, radio, local shops and available on different platforms such as iPhones and online (Facebook and Twitter). - Find stories that you know everyone will be interested in, crime stories, government, local MP. Also feature stories from around the world, e.g. Syria attacks.
