This document provides an overview and requirements for a Year 12 Media course. It will cover key concepts such as representation over the first half of the year. Students will complete coursework and exams, including a thriller opening sequence portfolio and exams on TV drama and new technologies. Representation and how the media presents a mediated version of reality will be explored through mise-en-scene analysis of costume, lighting, production design, performance, and props. Students will analyze how characters are represented in clips and consider superiority and inferiority. They are asked to challenge stereotypes with photos that subvert expectations for a class blog.
