The document discusses incubating a self-learning journey through artificial intelligence. It mentions driving towards necessary things and living through the AI hype cycle. Key stages in the journey include research, forums, data-centric systems, peaks of inflated expectations giving way to troughs of disillusionment. The goal is enlightenment through commitment to exploring, researching, and maturing one's own roadmap.

Episode 3(4): Wrapping up the Web and the history of cognitive technologies -...William Hall
This is the 12th of 23 presentations in a series introducing and outlining my hypertext book project, "Application Holy Wars or a New Reformation - A Fugue on the Theory of Knowledge. The project explores the interactions of technology and cognition in the extraordinary evolutionary history of the human species. This presentation wraps up my discussion of the history of technologies used to enhance and extend human cognition. Because most of what I had planned for this talk has already been covered and/or discussed in the previous presentations, I thought that it would be much better to take the chance for a general review discussion of the main take-home messages to now, and to give a preview what remains to be covered in the second half of the series.
A new era in human development is emerging from the rubble of the global financial crises, in which "the wise application of knowledge" is the key driver, and the complex adaptive system the core metaphor.

AI – Risks, Opportunities and Ethical Issues April 2023.pdfAdam Ford
If we turn our gaze to our own history, we find that our ascension from mid-level scavengers to the architects of our own global ecosystem is the result of a singular, powerful phenomenon: intelligence. Intelligence, in its myriad forms, has sculpted the modern civilization that we experience today. In recent years, the torch of intelligence has been partially handed off from biological to artificial substrates, reshaping the landscape of capability in unprecedented ways.
Artificial intelligence, with relentless and inhuman efficiency, is fast surpassing human ability in numerous narrow domains, offering a tantalising or perhaps chilling hint of the future. We're not in the realm of science fiction, but in the foothills of a towering reality, where machines might not only equal but surpass human capabilities in most areas of economic and societal value. This isn't a hazy, distant future, but a rapidly approaching dawn that could eclipse our most sophisticated abilities.
The impact of superhuman AI will be immense, altering our world in ways that we are only beginning to understand. However, it is by no means certain that these changes will be beneficial for us or for other sentient animals. The chilling narrative of an AI out of control isn't merely a whimsical construct of fiction, it is a plausible scenario that needs serious consideration.
Increasingly, those at the cutting edge of AI research, the engineers and scientists who build and understand these systems, are expressing a growing concern. The horizon of transformative AI, once considered a distant and abstract prospect, may be closer than we once assumed. This proximity is not just a cause for excitement, but for deep and profound concern.
In this emerging epoch of AI, skepticism must become more than an intellectual indulgence. We are potentially at the cusp of a revolution, set to radically reshape our world, and our ethical responsibilities demand that we critically analyze and steer this transformation. Trust in AI can't be presupposed; it should be cultivated scientifically, subjected to constant scrutiny and understanding. We should not passively accept the expanding role of AI but diligently evaluate its implications.
Black box algorithms that elude our comprehension cannot satisfy our need for transparency. Our commitment to accountability in AI must extend to understanding its mechanisms, a challenge only skepticism can meet.
Moreover, we must steel ourselves against the seductive allure of utopian promises or the paralysing dread of hollywood inspired dystopian visions about AI. Our skeptical toolkit allows us to discern reality from hype and fosters a balanced perspective.
In the rush to keep abreast of our AI creations, skepticism is our indispensable ally, guiding us towards a nuanced comprehension of their ethical and safety contours. Devoid of skepticism's unflinching gaze, we stand vulnerable, teetering on the edge of being outpaced by these emergent intelligences.
Artificial Intelligence in testing - A STeP-IN Evening Talk Session Speech by...Kalilur Rahman
AI is the new ELECTRICITY - said Andrew Ng. There are two sides of the coin. There are a lot of nay-sayers for AI. At the end of the day, it will be Augmented Intelligence, Adaptive Intelligence, Automated Intelligence that will propel human intelligence forward - more than anything else. It will be a great time ahead. Whether it would be an "Eye(AI) Wash" as skeptics say or an "I wish" from them for starting late on the journey, only time will tell. It is a matter of when and how long, instead of an If. #ArtificialIntelligence #IntelligentTesting #QCoE #NextGenTesting #QualityFocusedDelivery #DigitalInnovation #ITIndustry #NewAgeIT #InnovativeTesting#AIFication #Automation #DigitalEconomy #Singularity #Transcendence #Futurism

The pandemic has had a significant impact on the motivation and health of organisations. Individuals and teams are tired, unsure, fatigued, and increasingly more polarised than ever before. The complexity and severity of the events unfolding around us is further perpetuating the feeling of learned helplessness. A systemic rebuild process is needed for organisations to move towards learned optimism, to return back to a steady and ultimately a thriving state. This presentation will focus on the observations and systems analysis of the current state, and will discuss recovery and rebuild approaches that can help us reach our goals and be optimistic about our future together.

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.
