Practice
Write a composition of not less than 350 words on one of the following topics.
1. Health is better than wealth. Do you agree?
2. Ways to enhance will power.
3. The values of reading newspapers.
4. The effects of peer pressure.
5. Compare and contrast the benefits of online and conventional classes.
Health is better
than wealth.
(Agree)
Health is more important than wealth
because if you are physically fit, you will
have a sense of well-being.
- you will feel happy.
- Many people think that they would be
happy if they had a million ringgit; having
more money will solve all their problems.
- wealthy can actually rob you of your peace
of mind.
- Rich people suffer from more stress,
anxiety, suspicion and unhappiness.
Wealth is of no use without health.
- why do we gather wealth? - to be able to
supply our daily needs and make ourselves
happy by spending on luxuries.
- Without good health, no matter how much
one spends on material things, that person
will not be able to enjoy them to the fullest.
(a person who is unwell would not be able
to eat everything he wants to even though
he could afford to buy the most expensive
food.)
- A person who is bedridden will not be able
to enjoy vacations in exotic places even if
he owned a private plane.
- Therefore, health is more important than
wealth as wealth is useless without health.
If you were healthy, you would be able to gain wealth.
- The reverse is not possible.
- If a person is healthy, he would be able to find work or carry out
investments that could eventually make him wealthy.
- However, for a person who is wealthy but ill, even the best medical care
that money can buy may not guarantee the return of that person's health.
(The
Benefits, Advantages, Importance)
The values of
reading
newspaper
Newspapers keep us in touch with the current
world affairs.
- It extends the bounds of our knowledge and
makes us feel that we are a part of a living
world.
- The leading newspapers are in touch with the
different part of the world through certain
press agencies.
- They supply them news from every part of the
world.
Newspapers supply a great deal of information.
- Important decisions of law courts are
published for the benefit of his own liking.
- Commercial news are published for the
businessmen.
- Lovers of Radio and the Cinema can look up
in them the daily programs of these
entertainments.
- The advertisements help the people to buy
things.
- The unemployed can look up the wanted
columns for vacant job.
Newspapers express the grievances of the public and
form the public opinion.
- They keep the public and the government in close
contact.
- The rules come to know of the desire of the people
through newspapers.
- The people get aware of the policies and schemes of
the government.
Newspapers have their educative value.
- Readers of a good newspaper are more
intelligent alert and better informed.
- Newspapers help us in disseminating good
ideas.
- There are useful articles on every topic
- reviews on newly published books,
accounts of discoveries and scientific
research.
(negative & positive)
(A person of the same age, status, or ability as
another specified person; a friend)
The effects
of peer
pressure
Peer creates a sense of motivation in the person.
- forces the person to cross the barrier and
achieve something great.
- boosts the confidence of a person.
- because our brain considers people’s opinions
and makes them a priority.
Forces one to the artificial lifestyle
- emulate the lifestyle of others due to peer
pressure are forced to do things that they hate.
- partying during the weekend or visiting five-
star hotels when the budget doesn’t allow can
create unpleasant situations.
- Teenagers are vulnerable to peer pressure as
they resort to smoking and drinking because it
is termed fashionable.
- Such lifestyle can have a debilitating effect on
the person ruining both professional as well as
personal life.
a far-reaching effect on the personality
- He or she can copy the good values of the peers
and include them into the life.
- True friends never try to compete with each other
but inspire their fellow beings to achieve greater
heights.
- Positive encouragement from them would bring
about constructive changes in your personality.
Loss of rational thinking
- People influenced by peer pressure cannot think
rationally because they try to imitate others.
- All their efforts and resources are wasted in
meeting the futile objectives.
- lead to loss of health and life in the moment of
sheer madness.
(similarities) (differences)
(TRADITIONAL)
1. Both are ways to receive an education.
- strive for the same purpose, which is to help
students reach their goal during college or
universities.
Similarities Differences
2. Students are required to follow the schedule
and complete the assignments.
3. Both types of learning rely on
teachers/instructors.
1. Different in the way of students and
teachers interacting
- online students communicate with teachers
through e-mail, texts
- Conventional classes offer more direct
interaction
2. Different on their cost
- Online learning is less expensive, partly
because students do not have to pay for the
facilities as school/college/uni and added
cost of daily expenses.
- conventional learning requires students to
spend much more money as the facilities are
being utilized.
3. Opportunities for socializing
- Conventional learning – more opportunity
- Online learning – fewer opportunity

  • 17. Health is better than wealth. (Agree) Health is more important than wealth because if you are physically fit, you will have a sense of well-being. - you will feel happy. - Many people think that they would be happy if they had a million ringgit; having more money will solve all their problems. - wealthy can actually rob you of your peace of mind. - Rich people suffer from more stress, anxiety, suspicion and unhappiness. Wealth is of no use without health. - why do we gather wealth? - to be able to supply our daily needs and make ourselves happy by spending on luxuries. - Without good health, no matter how much one spends on material things, that person will not be able to enjoy them to the fullest. (a person who is unwell would not be able to eat everything he wants to even though he could afford to buy the most expensive food.) - A person who is bedridden will not be able to enjoy vacations in exotic places even if he owned a private plane. - Therefore, health is more important than wealth as wealth is useless without health. If you were healthy, you would be able to gain wealth. - The reverse is not possible. - If a person is healthy, he would be able to find work or carry out investments that could eventually make him wealthy. - However, for a person who is wealthy but ill, even the best medical care that money can buy may not guarantee the return of that person's health.
