their dystopian novels over 50 years ago, both authors and avid fans have argued as to which dystopia

After reading the ethnic and racial differences chapter, what stood out for me was how much ethnicity
and culture could negatively affect a student s academic life. It is important to treat those of different
ethnicities, races and cultures the same as you would treat anyone else, including yourself. Ethnicity is
defined as a cultural heritage or characteristics shared by a group, such as history, homeland,
language, traditions or religion (Woolfolk Margetts, Educational Psychology, 2016). There are many
types of ethnicities; Australia alone has 35 different types of ethnic groups. Everyone has family
heritage extending from somewhere else in the world, the most common include Italian, Greek,
German and Irish, and this forms part of your ethnic heritage. My family heritage extends from
Holland and Germany, where my mothers side of my family were all born in Holland and migrated
just before my mother was born, my fathers family migrated from Germany during the 1800 s. Race is
defined as a socially constructed category of people who share biologically transmitted traits
(Woolfolk Margetts, Educational Psychology, 2016). These traits include common features such as
skin colour and hair texture. As I was born in Australia and my heritage descends from Europe, I am
classified as White. Other race categories include African American or Black, American Indian or
Alaskan Native, Asian and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. Biologically there are no pure

Introduction
During the 12th and 13th century, a survey was conducted on tradition, custom and law under the
common law system of England. This survey originally developed as court decisions. In England, the
equity laws are developed after the creation of the common law. The analysis based on development
of justice and is now used in the royal courts. This gives us the story of the 1066 when the England
was attacked and concluded that there is no common law system, but the local court system. It is
called the power of traditional dishes such as Shires and counties. The foundations of the common law
have known in public as customary law. In this assignment, me the author will describe the

The Common Law
During the conquest in 1066, William applied old legal customs in generalizing to the entire kingdom.
It was the origin of the Common Law; the essential characteristic was that it was rooted deeply in
Roman law to be based on the customs and practices from medieval traditions. These customs are still
mainly oral; procedures are carried out by royal courts who judge case leaving significant room for
interpretation. Gradually, the common law is insufficient and ineffective for a number of disputes.
The Equity
Individuals appeal directly to the king, arguing the fairness of their problems. This procedure, called

In Reader s Digest s feature The Oldest Kid on the Job by Bob Brody, the author comically reflects on
both the positive and negative effects of his age in his workplace. Meanwhile, in another amusing
feature, The Oprah Magazine s Attack of the Efficient Tomatoes by Molly Simms, the writer discloses
her unsuccessful experiences with multiple time saving methods. Although both of these articles
succeed in their humorous, friendly tones, they often differ in their rhetorical strategies. While Brody
utilizes formal sentence constructions and self deprecation to highlight the humor in his
circumstances, Simms applies conversational structures and unconventional word choice to imbue her
experiences with a breezy, sociable personality.
Both articles begin with a similarly playful tone but establish distinctive styles. In Brody s case, three
of the four sentences in his first paragraph follow a simple subject verb object structure with a
multitude of coordinating conjunctions throughout the rest of the piece, conveying a traditional
technique and a slower rhythm. On the other hand, Simms begins with an exclamation and switches
structures with every sentence, following a more conversational format with hypotheticals ( If ),
questions ( But how? ), and interjections ( Well ). Simms varying structures creates a more dynamic
rhythm, punchy and bright where Brody s is more mellow and meaty.
Although these techniques are disparate, one is not more successful than the other;

others did not. In the Gilded Age, there was exponential economic growth: increase in population,

Descriptive Experience Of Plant Life
I had imagined the residents to be desperate due to the poverty they face and the small room sized
shacks they live in that resemble a poorly built shed and lack air conditioning, the thought of which
made me shudder as the intense heat of the did not expect much from the Dominican Republic but
from the minute I stepped into the heat and humidity I could tell that there was something different
about it from the thatched roof and marbled floor of the airport, the sparkling turquoise blue sea and
the pearly white sand lining the horizon, it seemed like a fairytale. Walking through the heat I could
smell the floral scent of the plant life that thrived as far as the eye could see this filled me with
nostalgia as I remembered back to my first holiday. I expected the non tourist areas to resemble heart
