Increase the impact of your Research WorkApurva Goel
Publishing your research work is important, but the number of times your work is cited is also very important as it indicates the impact that it has created in your field.
Citations of your research paper can also have a great impact on your career, fundings/investments in the project work by the agencies or institutions etc.
Despite been an outstanding research work, but it does not mean that it will automatically have a good citation count. Authors need to take efforts to promote their research work and increase its visibility.

The technologies and people we are designing experiences for are constantly changing, in most cases they are changing at a rate that is difficult keep up with. When we think about how our teams are structured and the design processes we use in light of this challenge, a new design problem (or problem space) emerges, one that requires us to focus inward. How do we structure our teams and processes to be resilient? What would happen if we looked at our teams and design process as IA’s, Designers, Researchers? What strategies would we put in place to help them be successful? This talk will look at challenges we face leading, supporting, or simply being a part of design teams creating experiences for user groups with changing technological needs.

There is an increasing need for sensors to be selfpowered
and hence autonomous in order to operate in remote and
inaccessible locations for long periods of time. Amongst the
various ambient sources of energy, mechanical vibration is a viable
wasted source of energy and can be found in rotating equipment
including generators, motors and compressors as well as

developing a novel non-linear single degree of freedom
electromagnetic vibration energy harvester using spatial variation
of the magnetic field.
Initially, approximate linear methods using Laplace transforms
and the linear state space methods were considered, where the
magnetic field and hence the coupling coefficient were considered
as constants. The linear methods were used to derive the frequency
response behavior of the system and also its eigenvalues to
determine the approximate resonant frequency range. This was
followed by more accurate non-linear single degree of freedom
electromagnetic energy harvester model simulation considering
the spatial variation of the magnetic field and hence a spatially
varying coupling coefficient. An experiment of the single degreeof-
freedom one-direction electromagnetic vibration energy
harvester (SDOF1D EMVEH) prototype was conducted for a
range of frequencies to obtain the time domain data to validate
against the theoretical data obtained from theoretical time domain
simulation.

A Journal Selection Procedure for Receiving the Highest Citation and ImpactNader Ale Ebrahim
Publication in a peer-reviewed journal is the obvious goal of most researchers to reach others in the field, advancing knowledge and encouraging communication between groups with similar research interest. One of the most important and possibly the least well understood aspects of the publication process is the choice of a suitable journal that is likely to improve your research visibility and impact. For instance, publishing your article in an Open Access journal means that more people are likely to see it, simply because more people will be able to access it. So, the greater visibility achieved with OA may allow you to reach more impact and potential collaborators easily. In this presentation, I introduce some of the most important criteria to keep in mind when choosing a journal that is a good match for your research and promise higher research impact.
Writing a research article or thesis can be a complex and time-consuming process, but there are many Research Tools available to make the process easier and more efficient. The workshop attendees will learn how to use Research Tools to organize and manage their sources, improve the quality of their writing, and ensure that they are properly citing their sources. Nader Ale Ebrahim, in this workshop, will provide tips and best practices for effectively using these Research Tools to streamline the research and writing process. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a strong understanding of the various research tools available and how to use them to improve their productivity and produce high-quality articles and theses.
After completing this module you will able to..
1. Analyze a research topic
2. Develop appropriate search strategies and conduct a search
3. Refine search results
Providing Research Graph data in JSON-LD using Schema.orgJingbo Wang
In this presentation, we describe a pilot project that provides
Research Graph records to external web services using
JSON-LD. The Research Graph database contains a largescale
graph that links research datasets (i.e., data used to
support research) to funding records (i.e. grants), publications
and researcher records such as ORCID profiles.
This database was derived from the work of the Research
Data Alliance Working Group on Data Description Registry
Interoperability (DDRI), and curated using the Research
Data Switchboard open source software. By being available
in Linked Data format, the Research Graph database
is more accessible to third-party web services over the Internet,
which thus opens the opportunity to connect to the
rest of the world in the semantic format.
The primary purpose of this pilot project is to evaluate the
feasibility of converting registry objects in Research Graph
to JSON-LD by accessing widely used vocabularies published
at Schema.org. In this paper, we provide examples
of publications, datasets and grants from international research
institutions such as CERN INSPIREHEP, National
Computational Infrastructure (NCI) in Australia, and Australian
Research Council (ARC). Furthermore, we show how
these Research Graph records are made semantically available
as Linked Data through using Schema.org. The mapping
between Research Graph schema and Schema.org is
available on GitHub repository. We also discuss the potential need for an extension to Schema.org vocabulary for scholarly communication.
10 easy ways to increase your citation count a checklistMahantesh Biradar
The number of papers you publish is important to your career. “Publish early and often” is heard over and over again in research. However, the number of times your work is cited is important as well because it can indicate the impact that your research has on the field.
Increasing your citation count can also have a positive impact on your career because funding agencies often look at a combination of the number of papers and the number of citations when making grant decisions.

Week 6 Discussion
"Putting it All Together - Revising the Justification Report" Please respond to the following:
· This week, you will utilize the techniques that you have studied in your Week 6 readings to revise your Justification Report while adding the final parts. Based on your readings, state three (3) things that you will be looking for as you revised and proofread (e.g. organization, structure, grammar elements). Discuss the strategies that you will implement to ensure that your assingment is polished and in final draft format.

About the Paper and Presentation
1) The paper and project are your report on your own project of research. Your
research may be based on reading, evaluation and summary of research in the
literature or may include your own statistical analysis or other gathering and
analysis of data. You will choose a topic for your project during the first week.
(See the document “Choosing a Topic.”) This year I am requiring groups of four
students to speak on topics from the same area on the same date. These groups
will be formed at the first class meeting or assigned by me. You are required to
choose (in consultation with me) a research paper from the literature to be
assigned for the other students to read in preparation for your presentation. While
you should explain the assigned paper in your presentation, your presentation and
your paper are on the topic you chose, not on the assigned paper.
2) This is a Writing Intensive course and satisfies part of the requirement for three
Writing Intensive courses to graduate. The objective of Writing Intensive courses
is for you to practice writing using the writing process of successive revisions.
Accordingly, you are expected to turn in three drafts of your paper: the first to
accompany your presentation, the second a revision in response to comments
from students on your presentation and the accompanying first draft, and a final
revision tenth week. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in grade
penalties. Dr. McCain will act as a consultant both on writing and on the
economics of your project. Since consulting is “work done for hire” (and Dr.
McCain is modestly paid by Drexel for this) Dr. McCain’s help needs not be
acknowledged in your bibliography of references.
3) Plagiarism is grounds for failure in the course. Material copied from an internet
source and pasted into a term paper is considered plagiarism (and is usually pretty
easy to find with a search). Even if some words in the pasted material are changed
to make it a “paraphrase,” Drexel policy considers this plagiarism. Papers for Dr.
McCain’s classes are to be turned in BOTH in hardcopy AND electronically by
the indicated due date. The electronic copy should be a WORD or RTF document
and will be used for screening for plagiarism and kept on disc for the long-term
record, while the hardcopy version will be marked and returned to you. Kee.

How to increase the visibility of research articles: A Common Agenda of an Au...Nader Ale Ebrahim
Authors and publishers are liked to increase their reputation and chance of published work being noticed, used and having impact. There are a variety of activities and tools to promote work, connect with other researchers, and engage in scholarly discourse. In this webinar, Nader, who has developed the “Research Tools” Mind Map, will get you familiar with eighteen common agenda for authors and publishers to increase their research visibility and impact.
LITERATURE REVIEWING WITH RESEARCH TOOLS, Part 3: Writing Literature ReviewNader Ale Ebrahim
“Research Tools” enable researchers to collect, organize, analyze, visualize and publicized research outputs. Dr. Nader has collected over 700 tools that enable students to follow the correct path in research and to ultimately produce high-quality research outputs with more accuracy and efficiency. It is assembled as an interactive Web-based mind map, titled “Research Tools”, which is updated periodically. “Research Tools” consists of a hierarchical set of nodes. It has four main nodes: (1) Searching the literature, (2) Writing a paper, (3) Targeting suitable journals, and (4) Enhancing visibility and impact of the research. In this workshop some tools from the part 2 (Writing a paper) will be described. The e-skills learned from the workshop are useful across various research disciplines and research institutions.

Research Based Learning(RBL) is a subset of Project based Learning (PBL) with extreme focus on the scientific investigative aspects of conducting projects. It is curiosity driven unlike other projects which need not necessarily be investigative in nature.
RBL can be effective when the project protocols are driven by use of software tools, such as Mendeley for literature survey, mathematical modelling tools (such as Scilab®/MATLAB®) and design tools for virtual prototyping(Solidworks, Ansys) , data analysis(such as Scilab/MATLAB) and data visualisation tools(Origin) for results and discussion.
In this experimental pedagogical approach, a bibliographic software – Mendeley from Elsevier was used for collaborative research based literature review in which the students and the project guides could collaborate on the project. The experiment was successful with about 52 project teams of approximately 52X4=208 students and 25 project guides successfully completing 52 literature reviews.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
