Transition Planning Research Paper
Transition services are intended to prepare students to move from the world of school to the world
of adulthood. Transition planning begins during high school at the latest.
IDEA requires that transition planning start by the time the student reaches age 16, However
transition planning may start earlier if the IEP team decides it would be appropriate to do so
Transition planning takes place as part of developing the student s Individualized Education
Program (IEP).The IEP team (which includes the student and the parents) develops the transition
plan. The student must be invited to any IEP meeting where postsecondary goals and transition
services needed to reach those goals will be considered. In transition planning, the IEP team

Comanche Research Paper
The Native Americans are one of the best known indigenous groups left.
The native Americans consist of 562 known tribes, about 229 of these are located in Alaska; the
rest are located in 33 other states.
The Comanche People:
History
The Southern Plains were dominated by exceptional horsemen called the Comanches, and through
much of the 18th and 19th centuries played a prominent role in Texas frontier history. Originally
they were a mountain tribe, badly equipped hunters and gatherers who roamed a region of the
western United States. Origin of the Comanches were confirmed by both cultural and linguistic
similarities. The language of the Comanche is virtually identical to the language of the Northern
Shoshones. The acquisition of horses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

La Luna Film Techniques
La Luna La Luna is a short film made by Pixar in 2011. It is a sweet animation movie in the
drama genre about coming of age, traditions and responsibility being passed through generation to
generation. It is a very moving short film that is succinct with no dialogue. The prominent stars
who have voice overs in this film are Krista Sheffler who plays the kid, Tony Flucile who plays the
father and Phhil Sheridan who plays the grandfather.
La Luna tells the story of a young boy joining his father and grandfather for the first time to learn
about his family s unusual line of work. The y are paddling out to sea in an old wooden boat but
little deos the boy know that a surprise awaits him as they anchor in the middle of the sea. While
trying to please both his father and grandfather the boy is absorbed by the magic of the new world.
The music in the film reminds you of a Spanish Guitar which links in perfectly with the Spanish
resemblance of the plot with the theme being coming of age. The music sets the mood for the film .

In the short time of six and a half minutes the film .The movie successfully narrates of finding
your own path while listening to your elders. It clearly depicts that being different brings out the
best in people. This is especially evident towards the end when the boy solves a problem on his
own proving to his father and grandfather that there is more than one right way to do something.
Not only did I find this movie stunning visually but I found that the movie made me feel like I was
there in the moment with the boy following his discoveries and exploring the new land which made
me feel more connected to the story and the timing of interesting plot twists and new discoveries
was perfect. Even though there was no dialogue I was caught up in the animation and the emotions

Lego Mindstorm Research Paper
The Lego Mindstorms series of kits contain software and hardware to create customizable,
programmable robots. They include an intelligent brick computer that controls the system, a set of
modular sensors and motors, and Lego parts from the Technic line to create the mechanical systems.
The hardware and software roots of the Mindstorms Robotics Invention System kit go back to the
programmable brick created at the MIT Media Lab. This brick was programmed in Brick Logo.
The first visual programming environment was called LEGOsheets,[1] since it was created by the
University of Colorado in 1994 based on AgentSheets.
The original Mindstorms Robotics Invention System kit contained two motors, two touch sensors,
and one light sensor. The NXT ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The version sold through LEGO Education is designed for a deeper level of learning or
teaching that often happens in a classroom or school setting. The LEGO Education version
comes with support called the Robot Educator. This includes 48 tutorials to walk the learner
through the basics of coding to more sophisticated and complex concepts such as data logging.
This resource to support the learner and/or educator are not included in the retail version of
Mindstorm. It s always a good idea to reach out to a LEGO Education consultant to inquire of
other differences as there are several more. The retail version was designed for more of a home
/toy use vs the educator model was designed to support deeper learning with extra resources and
pieces to do so. This is why the LEGO Education Mindstorm contains more sensors and parts than
the retail version.
Mindstorms is named after the book Mindstorms: Children, Computers, and Powerful Ideas by
Seymour Papert.[5]
The latest system, called the Lego Mindstorms EV3, was released on September 1, 2014.

Underachievement Among College Students
High achieving students have always been considered the creme of the crop and to be fully
prepared for college. However, studies, like the one that took place at Queen Mary College, have
shown that this is not always correct. In Underachievement Among College Students Megan Balduf
discusses how high achieving students struggle in collegebecause they never had to try in
highschool, and thus did not develop the necessary skills like: time management, ability to adjust to
independent life, and good studying skills, skills that are essential for success. This study is
important because it looks first hand at what is causing gifted underachievers to not meet their
potential and it also focuses on a group that is often left out from gifted underachievement studies:
college students. Underachievement is a colossal issue because it is attributed to students not
receiving the assistance and having the motivation they require to succeed. Two of the... Show more

to prosper in college. To assist with the transition from High schoolto college researchers suggested
that colleges provide gifted underachievers with counseling and/or skills courses to help them learn
how to motivate themselves to work when grades don t come easily. In conclusion, the research
team suggests that studies be carried out at other universities on gifted underachievers to help
determine what can be done to help these students become more successful. Then, a study should
taken of High school students to see how they feel about their academic success thus far and also
how they feel about the rigors of classes, their current studying skills, engagement to tasks, and time

Police And False Confessions Case Study
Police Tactics and False Confessions
In recent years, there have been multiple high profile cases of people being exonerated, often by
DNA testing, after giving a false confession to a crime they did not commit. People who often fall
into this trap are juveniles or those with a diminished mental capacity (Redlich, 2009). DNA
testing has helped many innocent people that gave false confessions be free again. This trend
brings up the question of how were they able to give a false confession.
Using the example of the case of Damon Thibodaux, he was taken for questioning after a girl who
they were last seen with went missing. She was found strangled and naked (Leo, 2008). A homicide
officer took over the case, and Thibodaux was interrogated for several hours. Although Thibodaux
repeatedly said he knew nothing about the murder, the interrogation kept going, eventually the
officer was able to record a statement from Thibodaux pleading guilty of consensual and non
consensual sex with the victim, beating, and assassinating her. Thibodaux was condemned to
death, and was to spend fifteen years on death row and sixteen years in jail before DNA
examination confirmed that he was not guilty (Kassin, 2013). Thibodauxs exoneration proceeding
concluded that fatigue and exhaustion from the overnight search for the girl, the long interrogation,
psychological vulnerability, and fear of the death penalty led to the false confession by Thibodaux
(Leo, 2008). This case is a great example of

Best Super Bowl Commercials
There are so many Super Bowl commercials in its history, and my favorite one is the Pepsi
commercial Coke Guy Caught on Cam (Your Cheatin Heart) in 1996. The commercial portrays a
funny betrayal story that a Coke Cola delivery guy was caught by the security camera since he is
attempting to steal a can Pepsi from the refrigerator. Although he intends to hide his actions, the
crushing cans from the shelves announces his cheating and makes him escape from the convince
store. Simply, there are several reasons that I believe this is one of the greatest Super Bowl
commercials. The first and forest thing needs to concern here is the viewing point of this
commercial, as the event opens through the eye of security camera. Most of the commercials

The Depiction Of The Mood In The Movie Stranger Things
It is extraordinary how a genre of a movie, book or show can impact the mood. In the first

sound design, setting and characterization. The director focuses on specific scenes and intensifies
supernatural sounds to portray that this object or setting is extraterrestrial. What are you, deaf? I

Descartes Argument For The Existence Of Human Being
In his meditation II, concerning the nature of the human mind, Descartes aims to provide an
argument for the existence of human being. Since one knows that he/she is or exists, Descartes
argues that this awareness of our own existence must also contain the understanding of our true
nature. By identifying the first item of knowledge that is valid and certain Descartes derives the
criteria for evaluating knowledge.
Assuming that the source of our knowledge cannot rely on the senses, Descartes makes an attempt
to rebuild the complex system of knowledge upon material he can find within the contents of his
own mind. The Second Meditation begins with an assumption that one is committed to suspect
judgment with respect to anything which contains any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He further states that if I know that I am, then I must also know what I am. Thereby he argues that
an understanding of my true nature must be contained implicitly in the content of my awareness.
Since I became certain of my existence by questioning the sensory information and the existence of
a material world, none of the apparent features of my human body can have been crucial for my
understanding of myself. But all that is left is my thought itself, so Descartes concluded that I am
thing that thinks...thing that doubts, understands, affirms, denies, wills, refuses and that also
imagines and senses (Med. II, p. 537). In Descartes s terms, I am a substance whose inseparable
attribute (or entire essence) is thought (mind), with all its modes: doubting, willing, conceiving and
believing. So completely I am identified with my conscious awareness, Descartes claimed, that if I
were to stop thinking altogether, it would follow that I no longer existed at all. At this point,
nothing else about human nature can be determined with such perfect

The Effects Of The Irish Potato Famine
Ireland was struck by a famine in 1845. It was known as the Irish Potato Famine. Some people
also call it The Great Famine . This disaster became one of the most terrifying historical events in
Ireland s history but the Potato Famine affected not only Ireland but also the whole Britain. This
paper aims to shed light on a historical background of the Irish Potato Famine and its effects on
Victorian Britain. The potato famine came into the picture in 1845. First of all, a fungus which is
called phythophtora infestans destroyed the potato crops in Ireland. This situation created an awful
atmosphere because most of the population of Ireland was employed as farmers. The livelihood of
Irish people was the potato. They needed potato to survive and maintained their daily life but...

During the emigration period, there was a rapid growth in the population of Ireland. It reached
over 8,500,000 people. It was paradoxical because there was a famine but population increased in
a fast way (Grada 118). As it was mentioned before, there were too many people in Ireland but
there wasn t enough food or work places. People looked for new jobs during the time of the
famine. Approximately, three million people were in desperate situation because they were
farmers and their staple food was potato but the nature did not allow doing their job. The famine
destroyed everything they had so they supposed to find new jobs at workhouses and soup
kitchens. If they did not find proper place for themselves, they had to make a decision for their
future and that decision was the emigration (Grada 113). It can be referred that Irish society was
shocked. They hadn t come across such a difficult life conditions for years. Their main aim was to
seek for a job which kept them alive. They rushed into every options of working. In other words,
they did not want to lose their hope because they wanted to hold on to life. Otherwise, they wouldn

America s most controversial and most banned writer, the late Maya Angelou. This statement also

about. In the novel, Melinda hangs up a poster of Maya Angelou in her make shift janitor s closet

Too bad she can t hear it. (Anderson 28). Melinda often backs down under pressure whenever she
is confronted by teachers or students, getting to the point where it gets her in trouble or gets
harrassed. She can change it. On Stanza 6 of Angelou s poem, Still I rise, It quotes You may
shoot me with your words, / you may cut me with your eyes, / you may kill me with your
hatefulness, / but still, like air, I rise. (Still I Rise). Angelou has confidence regardless of what
others think, say, or do, She keeps rising and standing up to her problems, unlike Melinda.
Melinda could learn to have more confidence, more hope and faith. She could learn from
Angelou that though people try to put her down, she still arises. And so should she. Lonely is
not being alone, but the feeling that no one cares. Melinda believes she is alone and needs a
friend, but she thinks that she does not need a true close friend, that she can make it through it
alone. Melinda could learn from angelou that you need someone. On page 22, it says, I need a

to be close enough to talk, to confide in.which results in her misery. In Angelou s poem, Alone, in

The Reasons Of The Enlightenment, Or Age Of Reason
There was a period in European history when religion did not govern a person s way of life.
Philosophy and science gained forefront and a new belief system took hold. This new belief system
lifted traditional constraints and allowed people to think and act freely. It was a new form of
happiness called The Enlightenment. The Enlightenment, or Age of Reason, was a event that
occurred during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This event or period in time was
attributed to major changes in science, politics, and philosophy in which individuals turned away
from traditional customs to a more modern way of thinking. The Enligtenment advocated reason as
a means to establishing an authoritative system of aesthetics, ethics, government, and even religion,
which would allow human beings to obtain objective truth about the whole of reality. This modern
way of thinking freed individuals from religious laws and superstitions. The Enlightenment took
root in the sixteenth century when philosophers, mathematicians, and scientists began to question
Christianity. Nicolaus Copernicus, Sir Isaac Newton, John Locke,
Galileo, and others were part of the scientific revolution that doubted religion and placed truth in
human logic, mathematics, and science. The Enlightenment began with English philosopher
Frances Bacon and ended with
German philosopher Immanuel Kant. Bacon s 1620 Novum Organum laid the groundwork and
Kant s 1781 Critique of Pure Reason

How Japan Committed Crimes Against Humanity in Pursuit of...
Japan was one of the major powers of Axis Powers during the World War II. From 1937 to 1945,
Japan started a series of wars, and resulted in millions of casualties along the way. Japanese
battlefield consists of three parts: China, Pacific and Southeastern Asia. Japanese started these wars
because they wanted to gain resources and war advantages for their own country. Japan committed
crimes against humanity during their wars, which means they neglected human dignity and
degraded human value by humiliation. During the Sino Japanese War, the Pearl Harbor Attack and
wars in Southeastern Asia, Japan, in pursuit of self interest, violated human rights and committed
crimes against humanity. Japan s attacking China in 1937 is a crime... Show more content on

Joseph Keenan, the chief prosecutor during the Tokyo Trial after the war, stated that the attack
on Pearl Harbor violated both the war agreement and was a deceitful and treacherous act: But the
attack of Pearl Harbor did not alone result in murder and the slaughter of thousands of human
beings. It did not eventuate only in the destruction of property. It was an outright act of
undermining and destroying the hope of a world for peace. (Keenan 57 58). In addition, the
attack on Pearl Harbor was a crime against humanity since Japan gave American soldiers no time
to organize proper defense, and deprived them of their right to fight for their safety. Japan also
humiliated U.S. soldiers during the attack, which is a violation against human dignity. Japan
attacked the Pearl Harbor to weaken U.S. , as a powerful response to U.S. oil embargo to Japan.
In 1941, Japan and China reached stalemate, and the former was in dire need of resources for a
long war. U.S. and the Western oil sanction did not want Japan to exploit the oil resources in
China and Southeastern Asia, so U.S. set an embargo on oil to restrict Japan. Japan wanted the
resources, but was concerned with U.S. military power, so it decided to strike a sudden attack to
weaken U.S. in order to acquire resources and win the Sino Japanese war. Clearly, Japan attacked
Pearl Harbor to prevent U.S. intervention of Japanese interest, and Japan, desperately wanting U.S.

The Similarities Of Films Who Does Not Love A Great...

The Similarities of Films Who does not love a great comedy film. I know that comedy is my
favorite genre. When thinking about comedies or comedians one person comes to mind, Will
Ferrell. In some people s opinion he is the best comedian actor. Will Ferrelljust so happen to be in a
comedy partnership with director Adam McKay. McKay is responsible for over 20 films. There are
three films that I am particularly fond of The Other Guys, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron
Burgundy, and Step Brothers.
ДЂAdam McKay does not single handedly write his movies. Like I said, he and Ferrell are in a
partnership and co write movies together. Adams movies tend to be a mean or not appropriate
for children. When did comedies start saying four letter words every other sentence. The times
have changed that is for sure. I would be lying if I said I was shocked. I would also be lying if I
said I had no taste, or judgment of comic strategy. Because, like I said I am very fond of these
movies. Adam s films have a lot in common including his own partner. Will Ferrell plays the
main character in most of McKay s films. In fact, he is the main character in all three of the films
that I have chosen. So it may that I just like movies with Will Ferrell. Adam McKay has a
tendency to starting off his movies with a quote, and of course he works with Will.
In the movie Stepbrothers, an American buddy slapstick comedy which stars Will Ferrell and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Javascript Framework
Introduction. The last ten years have seen the release of a huge number of JavaScript
frameworks. Designed and developed to aid in the rapid development of websites, web
applications and other online software. Previously, to develop large applications that were secure,
fully functional, cross browser applications would have taken a team of developers, working on
bespoke front end and backend systems. With the advancement of the web browser, along with the
maturing of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and the addition of frameworks the possibilities for
complex web applications is huge. It is now possible to substitute desktop applications with apps
running in the browser. With the addition of web frameworks, developers can worry less about the
complexities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the biggest disadvantages of using JavaScript frameworks is the learning curve involved
with each different framework. Each has their own way of working and can take time to learn
the nuances of the framework. Another concern is new developers learning the frameworks and
not the JavaScript language. Because of the frameworks making development fairly easy, basic
knowledge of the language can be lost or overlooked. When using a framework a developer is
limited to the core behaviour provided. Its behaviour cannot be modified, so when developing
an application a developer must take into consideration its limitations. Security can be a big
issue for JavaScript frameworks, both positive and negative. Most frameworks are open
sourced, so this allows people to find flaws that could be exploited. People with bad motivations
can study the code to figure out how to attack a product using a certain framework. But on the
positive side of things, being open sourced also allows a community of developers to find these
flaws and eliminate them before they become a problem. SEO is another concern when using
certain frameworks. Because the code is rendered client side for most frameworks, it is hard for
them to be indexed by search

Rhetorical Devices In A More Perfect Union By Barack Obama
In the 2008 United States presidential election between Barack Obama vs John McCain, Obama
s pastor mentioned several controversial and offensive remarks. These statements brought
negative publicity for Obama because of his connection towards Reverend Jeremiah Wright, he
was Obama s aforementioned pastor. With his following severely decreasing because of this,
Obama had to find a way to regain his supporters by writing the powerful speech, A More Perfect
Union in which he uses a variety of rhetorical devices such as parallelism, a paradox, hyperbole,
and allusions to the past history of the United States. The use of these devices in this speech create a
strong argument of his intentions as president, his views on racism and the issues society... Show

There is a vast difference of cultures in American society and schools and Obama s goals with
using parallelism was to touch the hearts of every race with how the public schooling system is
failing these children. We want to talk about the crumbling schools that are stealing the future of
black children, and white children, and Asian children, and Hispanic children, and Native
American children. He not only acknowledges the races of these children but how poor the
school system is. The use of parallelism in this helps create a stronger argument because he
shows he s not oblivious to the variety of cultures in America which feeds into the belief that
America is home of the free and accepts anyone regardless of race, gender, and religious beliefs.
Not only does he use parallelism, he also uses a hyperbole by exaggerating the fact that students
futures are being stolen from them with poor education. This is a hyperbole because the public
schooling system isn t actually stealing the futures of these children, but he uses this rhetorical
strategy to amplify the emotion and relevance of the issues with the public school system. These
rhetorical strategies are effective because of the reaction he can get from the audience. He
reminds society of the issues in every day American life, and what he d wish to do to fix these
issues. He wishes to share the same common beliefs and desires of the common man by focusing
on the issues the common man faces day to day. Parallelism and hyperboles are strong strategies to
use because of the realization and emotions it gives the audience. Obama uses these strategies to
bring in the audience and build a strong relationship between him and the audience with this

The Consequences Of Herding Behavior Of Financial Traders
Abstract:
This report sets out to analyze the causes and the consequences of herding behavior of financial
traders, emphasizing the impact on financial markets efficiency and stability. Moreover, it
contributes to formalize the role of policy makers, how they react to herding behavior and what
measures they can take to curtail it. This paper is divided into three section: Section 1 introduces
herding behavior; Section 2 analyzes origin and consequences of herding and its repercussion on
Efficient Market Hypothesis theory; Section 3 focuses on the role of policy makers and what they
can do to curtail herding.
Section 1

Therefore, as presented by West (1988), it is necessary to identify a behavioral model which can
highlight the importance and the impact of psychological and irrational behaviors that can explain
the latest financial crisis and asset bubbles. The greatest support of what can be defined as
Behavioral Finance comes from Shiller (1984), who believes that financial behaviors are
influenced by social movements. To explain return patterns that are anomalous from the classical
viewpoint of EMH, it is necessary to introduce either market imperfections or failures of human
rationality (Hirshleifer et.al, 2003). Herding is one of many psychological factors and biases that
influences markets stability and can be identified as the cause of many stock markets bubbles and
crashes. Moreover herding leads to unhedgeable systemic risk and causes markets failure to reflect
all relevant information.
Section 2
Herd behavior occurs when investors, firms or analysts take the same action and/or base their
decisions according to others behaviors (Spyrou, 2013) and follow the crowd (i.e. switching from
buying to selling and reverse). It is present in a market when individuals imitate better informed
investors trading strategies rather than acting upon their own beliefs and private information.
Moreover, herding must be distinguished from what is known as spurious herding . Spurious
traders, when facing the same problems and set

Before the Battle of Mortain was even in sight the 30th Infantry arrived in the United Kingdom in
February 1944. Their first attack would be the Normandy invasion on June 15th 1944 on Omaha

certainly apart of the efforts carried out at the time. During this there was friendly fire on part of
the bombers flying overhead. This allowed the US armor to head south to Tessy after Operation

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, By Maya Angelou
In I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou, Maya learns just how critical books are
to everyone and learns to be dependent on them over other people because while everything
around her is changing, books, writing and literature are always there to be her friend. Everything
Maya was dependent on, before she discovered books, (her mother, Momma, Bailey, her family, her
educators and her home) are so unstable throughout the whole book that she can not depend on
them. However, through all of that, books are always there and they are critical to her.
Maya Angelou writes As quickly as I had not reached my home, I sneaked away to Robin Hood s
forest and the caves of Ally Oop where all reality was unreal and even that changed everyday
(Angelou, 70) which states that, as Maya arrives to her house, she realizes it s not her home. As
upsetting as that sounds, she immediately turns to books which make her feel better so quickly.

she has her books and that is very important. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Keurig Dope
The innovative pods called k cups have turned the world of coffee brewing upside down. A
company called Keurig began making and selling high quality coffee makers in 1992. Six years
later, they developed a coffee brewer that would brew one superior cup of coffee at a time. The little
pods of coffee or tea that would be placed inside the innovative coffeemakers were called Keurig
cups, which became k cups.
The key concepts behind k cups are controlled brewing and variety. The amount of finely ground
coffee and tea inside the pods is portioned very precisely. Controlling how much premium coffee or
tea is in the pod is a way of determining the taste of the final product. The k cups developed for a

The Theme Of Love In Nectar In A Sieve
The theme of Nectar in a Sieve I have chosen would be love and marriage. Throughout the entire
book the presence of love is strongly noticeable. Love is what fuels the strength/bond between most
families. And it didn t fail to do the same in the Rukami family. Despite the direct mention of love,
love is very prominent throughout the novel. The actions, tones, and emotions of the characters
show the underlying presence and strength lovecarries in this rural Indian community. Love is
expressed in many different ways in this novel. There is a sort of unspoken existence of love
found within this family s story. Nectar in a Sieve is full of all different kinds of love. Family
love, romantic love, love for children, and abstract philosophical love of life and land, are all
central to the novel. The ability to endure throughout hardship is one of the most present motifs
in the book, and often takes the form of love. Shmoop Editorial Team. Nectar in a Sieve Theme
of Love. Shmoop. Shmoop University, 11 Nov. 2008. Web. 26 May 2017. The quote above is from
an article about the topic of love and marriage. It points out the many types of love found in the
novel. It also, discusses one of the main motifs in the book, being the fact that the family prevails
through the presence of hardships. Another quote that I found recognizes the growth of marriages
and the relationship it has in this novel, it s not a guarantee that love and understanding follow from

Doing Business In China Summary
Prior to reading the Harvard Business Review on Doing Business in China, I assumed that
business was a universal thing around the world. I assumed that business was the same in all
countries. I assumed that every country had the same end goals when it came to business. As a
result, I assumed that all countries followed a similar template for how business negotiations work.
I was under the assumption that business was all about numbers and money; I didn t expect to see
so much energy focused on creating relationships. I originally assumed Chinawas a very strict and
numbers based country when it came to business. In my mind, China was this giant country where
everything is made and manufactured at a lower price. As a result, I assumed that... Show more

One of my favorite parts of this book was learning about how advertising differs in China. In
America, advertising is flashy. Many advertisements feature celebrities in hopes of gaining

in China. In China, ads place a large focus on the facts. Product advertisements include the
features and specifications of a product. People in China want to know what the product is, how
it is used and how it works. There is less of an emphasis on trying to make a products look cool

Clinical Application of EMDR In 1987 Francine Shapiro, an American psychologist, made a chance
discovery that bilateral eye movements while recalling various elements of a traumatic memory

experiences. Since then, Shapiro worked tirelessly to develop a breakthrough psychotherapy that is

For example, insights gained by the patient are a result of the clients own accelerated intellectual
and emotional process rather than from clinician interpretation (Shapiro, 2018). The overarching
goal is for the patients to feel empowered by the experiences that once destroyed them, not getting
rid of the memories but instead transforming them. Unlike other therapies, the purpose is not to
speak about the trauma in detail or do homework. EMDR aims transform and restore healthy
emotions and beliefs surrounding the traumatic events to allow them to conquer current triggers
and handle future experiences more adaptively. After successful treatment with EMDR, distress
is reduced, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal to the negative memory
or emotion is reduced. A typical EMDR session will last from 60 90 minutes, and the type of
problem, circumstances and amount of trauma determines how many treatment sessions are
necessary. Studies of clients who have experienced a wide range of trauma such as rape, physical

Election Day, President Of The United States
During election day, millions of Americans are going to cast their vote for who they want to be
the next president of the United States. Except is a lot more complicated than it seems. The
electoral college is the collection of 538 delegates that have the power to determine who the next
president will be; the number of total representatives in the House and Senate. These 538 votes
aren t given to the citizen directly, but they are instead divided among the 50 states in America.
Currently, people are suggesting who their state should pick for president. Simply put, if a state
has a majority of votes for one candidate, (however small the majority is) that candidate gets all
the electoral votes from said state; winner takes all. So, a candidate must win over half of the voting
population in enough states to get the majority of electoral votes to win the election. But that s not
all, these said electors aren t nailed down to vote for who their state constituents want at all;
millions of votes can be thrown in the trash and forgotten forever.
Many believe the Electoral College s votes protect the states that have small populations from the
large populations states and in turn candidates will have to give more attention to small states. If
this was true, it is being executed horrifically. Candidates are visiting, advertising, and
campaigning more and more in swing states. In other words, the electoral college doesn t make
candidates care about small states, or even big states.

The Role Of Sympathy In Romanticism
Sympathy is the combination of Latin and Greek words, syn. and pathos which give the meaning of
companion feeling. Here syn. means together and pathos means feeling. It is taken as the
awareness, thoughtful, and response to the distress or need of another human being. This empathic
concern is taken by a change in viewpoint, from a personal perspective to the perspective of another
group or individual who is in need. This transition helps to being responsive to others feelings,
emotions, and positions which lead to an accommodation of their perspective. This response,
according to C. Taylor, is primitive by which he means the immediate and unthinking reactions
unexplainable in terms of some more fundamental feature of human nature (Taylor,... Show more

He maintains that passions may be termed irrational either when they are founded on the
supposition of the existence of objects which really do not exist or when in exerting any passion
in action, we choose means insufficient for the designed end and deceive ourselves in our
judgment of causes and effects (Frazer, The enlightenment of Sympathy, 2010, p. 42). Hume s
explanation of sympathy is that, the greater degree of similarity between two individuals or their
passions, the easier and stronger is the communication of sentiments between them. Not only the
contiguity in space and time but also the previous ties of blood or affection, can afford a greater
sense of closeness to the candidate objects of sympathy. To wrap up, in the Humean notion of

Vice President Biden, Mr. Chief Justice, members of the United States Congress, distinguished

the enduring strength of our Constitution. We affirm the promise of our democracy. We recall
that what binds this nation together is not the colors of our skin or the tenets of our faith or the

an idea articulated in a declaration made more than two centuries ago: We hold these truths to be

Pedro S. Ortiz In my 20 years of living I can say that the things that I am used to seeing my

many things have change over all or have progressed. Somethings that have changed rapidly over
time is mass media, mass media has progressed fast over the years. Coming out with new

The Games And Its Impact On Our Childhood
Many of us have had some sort of gaming in our childhood. It s why we are who we are and why
we play the games we play now, and I assume why you are here reading a gaming article.
ChuckleFish s latest game Stardew Valley has taken the Nostalgia Train and taken a lot of players
back to their roots of Sandbox games, Harvest Moon. Almost everyone I ve talked to about this
game has at least played some sort of Harvest Moon game being that there have been loads that
have come out and still consistently are being released even to this day. However, Stardew Valley
has taken us back to the SNES Graphics style and really delivered a Harvest Moon of Today in

Juvenile Delinquency Has Increased Throughout The Years
INTRODUCTION
Juvenile Delinquency has increased throughout the years. In 2008 the United States police
arrested about 2.11 million juveniles. Juvenile arrest rates had increased in 2005 and again in
2006. Data show increases in some offense categories but declines in most. Most changes being
less than 10% in either direction. According to the data arson at 47% is one of the biggest crimes
that juveniles commit. Following are robbery at 27%, burglary at 27%, and property crimes at
26%. Juveniles are creating more problems for parents, schools, and communities. In 2007 juvenile
courts dealt with a large amount of juvenile delinquents. About 4,600 cases per day were being
treated at the courts (Puzzanchera, Charles).
One main reasons for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research has shown that from a family of four or more children are more likely to become juvenile
delinquents than those who come from a three or less children homes.
This research is important because understanding what makes a juvenile delinquent is necessary to
know. Parents can be educated on what is affecting their teen to contribute to delinquent behavior.
The family structure has been avoided by many citizens. Educating the public on the family
structure can make a different in a teen s life.
Social Scientist started to examine the family structure when they began to notice a high divorce
rate that began in the 1960s. They wanted to know how divorce was affecting children mentally
and if they were more likely to commit crimes than those who had both parents. Social scientist
studies began to show that children who come from divorced parents tend to have more academic,
behavioral, and emotional problems. When parents decide to divorce or separate, the child or
children begin to stress because they know that everything is going to change and this can cause
fear among the child. Studies have shown that a few children begin to adapt to their parents
separation. However, more than one third of children were clinically depressed, failing in school,
had low social communication, were unable to sleep and eat, and hoped that one day their parents
would get back together. Many of them

John Adams And George Washington Essay
John Adams and George Washington were two instrumental leaders during the American
Revolution. Both men were quintessential to the success of the revolution in their own way. John
Adams pushed the revolutionary agenda and George Washington lead the continental army. The
methods for which they led our nation to success varied due to their differing leadership styles. In
consequence, George Washingtonhas gone down in History as a larger than life hero whereas John
Adams has nearly been forgotten. Though both Adams and Washington rose to become influential
figures during the revolution, their origins differed. Adams was born into a middle class farming
family in Massachusetts. His father was a farmer/deacon who decided John should go to university
and learns a noble trade. John received a formal education from Harvard and went into the
admirable profession of the Law. On the other hand, George Washington, although born into a
respected aristocratic Virginian family, did not receive a proper formal education because his father
died before Washington was of age to study in England, as was planned. Nonetheless Washington
gained knowledge from experience and observing those around him. The personal connections
Washington had resulted in many job opportunities for him. Though his education was cut short by
his father s death, he still had many important mentors such as Colonial Fairfax who granted
Washington with opportunity. Due to whom he knew, Washington was able to collect

A Tale of Two Cities
Charles Dickens characterizes the settings in his novel, A Tale of Two Cities, through indirect
comparison and contrast between Paris and London during the French Revolution, a political
and social upheaval from 1789 1799; There was a king with a large jaw and a queen with a plain
face on the throne of England; there was a king with a large jaw and a queen with a fair face on
the throne of France. In both countries it was clearer than crystal to the lords of the State
preserves of loaves and fishes, that things in general were settled for ever. (1.1.2) His distinguished
way of approaching these two cities bolsters the image of the characters he wants to convey through
his novel. When doing so, Dickens creates the environments of a... Show more content on

Fortunately, Darnay does get acquitted; however, it was not because justice was served.
Dickens s demonstration of this scene portrays that there isn t much of a difference between the
Londoners and the Parisians, which sets a frightening image for France, considering the
situation that is about to unfold. The courtroom is one of the three major settings Dickens
demonstrates for London. The second setting in London is Manette s house in Soho and the
third setting is the Tellson s Bank. On the other hand, Tellson s is the representative of a British
business and culture. Tellson s Banks seems to be living up to the stereotypical British business
corporation Dicken s identifies it to be; Tellson s Bank by Temple Bar was an old fashioned
place, even in the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty. It was very small, very dark,
very ugly, very incommodious. It was very small, very dark, very ugly, very incommodious. I
was an old fashioned place, moreover, in the moral attribute that the partners in the House were
proud of its smallness, proud of its darkness, proud of its ugliness, proud of its
incommodiousness. They were even boastful of its eminence in those particulars, and were fired
by an express conviction that, if it were less objectionable, it would be less respectable. This was
no passive belief, but an active weapon which they flashed at more convenient places of business.

Dyslexia Causes
The exact causes of dyslexia are still not completely clear, but anatomical and brain imagery
studies show differences in the way the brain of a person with dyslexia develops and functions.
Moreover, most people with dyslexia have been found to have problems with identifying the
separate speech sounds within a word and/or learning how letters represent those sounds, a key
factor in their readingdifficulties. Dyslexiais not due to either lack of intelligence or desire to learn;
with appropriate teaching methods, students with dyslexia can learn successfully.
Kids with dyslexia experience issues in figuring out how to peruse notwithstanding conventional
guideline, at any rate normal knowledge, and sufficient inspiration and chance to learn. It is
believed to be caused by impedance in the cerebrum s capacity to process phonemes (the littlest

Catheter Related Blood Stream Infection
Catheter related blood stream infection is very common to patients receiving haemodialysis
treatment. Although catheters provide vascular access, they put the patients at risk for developing
local and systemic infections. Dialysis CRBSI can be obtained during insertion in the operating
theatre and handling of the catheterby the health care team post insertion. Causes include improper
technique in hand washing, breaking principles of aseptic technique when managing catheters and
contaminated supplies. It is quite tough to describe and to put a figure on the occurrence of dialysis
CRBSI despite the presence of standardised procedures in every institution. One more concern
would be the systems for reporting cases of CRBSI among dialysis... Show more content on

The appraisals ran for four weeks during September 2010 in all dialysis units mentioned earlier.
The outcome of the audits on clinical practice which involved forty occasions of CVDC
procedures revealed differences in routine practice. Nurses differ greatly in maintaining
cleanliness of work area before opening the sterile supplies, preserving the dressing set s sterility
and if proper hand scrubbing was either finished or not before touching the catheter. There were
also instances when either the patient or the nurse coughs and talks while the catheter was out in
the open. Documentation audit results which included charts of fifty five patients with CVDC
demonstrated significant contrast of medical records in the bedside to the electronic database in
the unit. It appears that logging of insertions and removals were done obediently on the
electronic database compared to bedside medical records which accounts to merely 10 percent
of catheter site appearance recorded and just 55 percent on documented CVC catheter care for
each treatment. Based from the end results, the working party devised a standardised routine for
managing central venous dialysis catheter in order to decrease differences in practise as well as
to warrant evidence based practice. A standard haemodialysis treatment form has also been
adjusted to include a part wherein the observations regarding the catheter exit site as well as
dressing could be examined and recorded in every session of dialysis.

The Gray Zone by Primo Levi
The Gray Zone by Primo Levi Summary In the chapter, the gray zone, the author Primo Levi
describes the human relationships inside the Lager. In describing the gray zone, Levi discusses
the different roles of prisoners assigned by the Nazi. The prisoners that did the work were seen
as being more privileged which at the end of the day helped them get more food and live better.
Therefore, the concept of the gray zone is analyzing the difference between the privileged and the
non privileged in the Lager. The difference can be seen by the tasks that the prisoners carried out,
for example, one of the groups were seen as, Low ranking functionaries... sweepers, kettle washers,
night watchmen, bed smoothers... checkers of lice and scabies,... Show more content on

Also he mentions since there were many implications that took part in the lager these events
could have taken place anywhere else in the world. Terrence Des Pres, The Survivor Summary
The Survivor by Terrence Des Pres discusses how prisoners survived in poor living conditions in
the Warsaw Ghetto. He defines a survivor as, ...any man or women striving to keep life and
spirit intact not only those who returned, but the hundreds of thousands who stayed alive
sometimes for years, only to die at the last minute. He describes the experience in the Ghetto
where it was possible to survive with the collective efforts of others, which is the opposite of
how Primo Levi described it. Survivors experienced help from each other such as gifts of food
from friends and family. People were willing to give up their valuables for the better of others.
With these little gestures people felt better and more rich about their experience which helped
lighten the mood in the Ghetto. However, thousands still died every day at Treblinka, a
concentration camp in Poland. At the peak of operations, 15,000 men, women and children died
there each day. Death on that scale took enormous labor, and towards the end, when the SS began
to fear discovery, the mass graves were opened and the rotting bodies burned. The
Sonderkommando, a group of prisoners, were responsible of disposing bodies of other prisoners.
The purpose of surviving till the end was to tell

Reflective Skills In Social Work
During placement I obtain many skills which are important to being a social workers. A few of
the skills which I learnt on placement were how to effectively use my interpersonal skills along
with my use of self and learnt how to recording information on the organisations database. These
skills link in with my learning plan, in particular my learning goal of participate in professional
practice with a focus on the use of self and practice standards. When I was on placement, I was a
part of a team which required me to use my interpersonal skills and use of self in a particular
way. By being a part of a team I had to comprehend how I was going to use my interpersonal
skills and use of self, for example I was using my personality, non verbal and verbal cues to
interact with clients and my team. Towards the end of placement I was provided with the
opportunity to use my self and interpersonal skills while working with a young girl. The way in
which I used my interpersonal skills was by sitting at the same level as the young girl and I
mirrored her behaviour in some sections of the meeting. When I was working with the young girl,
I made sure that there were no barriers such as a table in the middle of us. Another key skill which
I obtained was information recording by writing case notes and assessments. Throughout my
placement, I was able to use the Structured Decision Making (SDM) tools to conduct assessments
for the social workers regarding their clients referral. By doing

It is a sweet animation movie in the drama genre about coming of age, traditions and responsibility being passed through generation to generation. However, studies, like the one that took place at Queen Mary College, have shown that this is not always correct. In Underachievement Among College Students Megan Balduf discusses how high achieving students struggle in collegebecause they never had to try in highschool, and thus did not develop the necessary skills like: time management, ability to adjust to independent life, and good studying skills, skills that are essential for success. This study is important because it looks first hand at what is causing gifted underachievers to not meet their potential and it also focuses on a group that is often left out from gifted underachievement studies: college students. Underachievement is a colossal issue because it is attributed to students not receiving the assistance and having the motivation they require to succeed. Two of the... • 8. Police And False Confessions Case Study Police Tactics and False Confessions In recent years, there have been multiple high profile cases of people being exonerated, often by DNA testing, after giving a false confession to a crime they did not commit. People who often fall into this trap are juveniles or those with a diminished mental capacity (Redlich, 2009). DNA testing has helped many innocent people that gave false confessions be free again. This trend brings up the question of how were they able to give a false confession. Using the example of the case of Damon Thibodaux, he was taken for questioning after a girl who they were last seen with went missing. She was found strangled and naked (Leo, 2008). A homicide officer took over the case, and Thibodaux was interrogated for several hours. Although Thibodaux repeatedly said he knew nothing about the murder, the interrogation kept going, eventually the officer was able to record a statement from Thibodaux pleading guilty of consensual and non consensual sex with the victim, beating, and assassinating her. Thibodaux was condemned to death, and was to spend fifteen years on death row and sixteen years in jail before DNA examination confirmed that he was not guilty (Kassin, 2013). Thibodauxs exoneration proceeding concluded that fatigue and exhaustion from the overnight search for the girl, the long interrogation, psychological vulnerability, and fear of the death penalty led to the false confession by Thibodaux (Leo, 2008). This case is a great example of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although he intends to hide his actions, the crushing cans from the shelves announces his cheating and makes him escape from the convince store. Since one knows that he/she is or exists, Descartes argues that this awareness of our own existence must also contain the understanding of our true nature. By identifying the first item of knowledge that is valid and certain Descartes derives the criteria for evaluating knowledge. But all that is left is my thought itself, so Descartes concluded that I am thing that thinks...thing that doubts, understands, affirms, denies, wills, refuses and that also imagines and senses (Med. II, p. 537). In Descartes s terms, I am a substance whose inseparable attribute (or entire essence) is thought (mind), with all its modes: doubting, willing, conceiving and believing. • 16. The Reasons Of The Enlightenment, Or Age Of Reason There was a period in European history when religion did not govern a person s way of life. Philosophy and science gained forefront and a new belief system took hold. This new belief system lifted traditional constraints and allowed people to think and act freely. It was a new form of happiness called The Enlightenment. The Enlightenment, or Age of Reason, was a event that occurred during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This event or period in time was attributed to major changes in science, politics, and philosophy in which individuals turned away from traditional customs to a more modern way of thinking. The Enligtenment advocated reason as a means to establishing an authoritative system of aesthetics, ethics, government, and even religion, which would allow human beings to obtain objective truth about the whole of reality. This modern way of thinking freed individuals from religious laws and superstitions. The Enlightenment took root in the sixteenth century when philosophers, mathematicians, and scientists began to question Christianity. Nicolaus Copernicus, Sir Isaac Newton, John Locke, Galileo, and others were part of the scientific revolution that doubted religion and placed truth in human logic, mathematics, and science. The Enlightenment began with English philosopher Frances Bacon and ended with German philosopher Immanuel Kant. Joseph Keenan, the chief prosecutor during the Tokyo Trial after the war, stated that the attack on Pearl Harbor violated both the war agreement and was a deceitful and treacherous act: But the attack of Pearl Harbor did not alone result in murder and the slaughter of thousands of human beings. It did not eventuate only in the destruction of property. It was an outright act of undermining and destroying the hope of a world for peace. (Keenan 57 58). In addition, the attack on Pearl Harbor was a crime against humanity since Japan gave American soldiers no time to organize proper defense, and deprived them of their right to fight for their safety. Japan also humiliated U.S. soldiers during the attack, which is a violation against human dignity. Japan attacked the Pearl Harbor to weaken U.S. , as a powerful response to U.S. oil embargo to Japan. In 1941, Japan and China reached stalemate, and the former was in dire need of resources for a long war. U.S. and the Western oil sanction did not want Japan to exploit the oil resources in China and Southeastern Asia, so U.S. set an embargo on oil to restrict Japan. • 18. The Similarities Of Films Who Does Not Love A Great... Cody Gilroy Intro to Cinema Professor Lee December 6, 2016 The Similarities of Films Who does not love a great comedy film. I know that comedy is my favorite genre. When thinking about comedies or comedians one person comes to mind, Will Ferrell. In some people s opinion he is the best comedian actor. Will Ferrelljust so happen to be in a comedy partnership with director Adam McKay. McKay is responsible for over 20 films. There are three films that I am particularly fond of The Other Guys, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Step Brothers. ДЂAdam McKay does not single handedly write his movies. Like I said, he and Ferrell are in a partnership and co write movies together. Adams movies tend to be a mean or not appropriate for children. When did comedies start saying four letter words every other sentence. The times have changed that is for sure. I would be lying if I said I was shocked. I would also be lying if I said I had no taste, or judgment of comic strategy. Because, like I said I am very fond of these movies. Adam s films have a lot in common including his own partner. Will Ferrell plays the main character in most of McKay s films. In fact, he is the main character in all three of the films that I have chosen. So it may that I just like movies with Will Ferrell. Adam McKay has a tendency to starting off his movies with a quote, and of course he works with Will. In the movie Stepbrothers, an American buddy slapstick comedy which stars Will Ferrell and ... Designed and developed to aid in the rapid development of websites, web applications and other online software. Previously, to develop large applications that were secure, fully functional, cross browser applications would have taken a team of developers, working on bespoke front end and backend systems. With the advancement of the web browser, along with the maturing of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and the addition of frameworks the possibilities for complex web applications is huge. It is now possible to substitute desktop applications with apps running in the browser. With the addition of web frameworks, developers can worry less about the complexities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest disadvantages of using JavaScript frameworks is the learning curve involved with each different framework. Each has their own way of working and can take time to learn the nuances of the framework. Another concern is new developers learning the frameworks and not the JavaScript language. Because of the frameworks making development fairly easy, basic knowledge of the language can be lost or overlooked. When using a framework a developer is limited to the core behaviour provided. Its behaviour cannot be modified, so when developing an application a developer must take into consideration its limitations. Security can be a big issue for JavaScript frameworks, both positive and negative. Most frameworks are open sourced, so this allows people to find flaws that could be exploited. People with bad motivations can study the code to figure out how to attack a product using a certain framework. But on the positive side of things, being open sourced also allows a community of developers to find these flaws and eliminate them before they become a problem. SEO is another concern when using certain frameworks. Because the code is rendered client side for most frameworks, it is hard for them to be indexed by search ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We want to talk about the crumbling schools that are stealing the future of black children, and white children, and Asian children, and Hispanic children, and Native American children. He not only acknowledges the races of these children but how poor the school system is. The use of parallelism in this helps create a stronger argument because he shows he s not oblivious to the variety of cultures in America which feeds into the belief that America is home of the free and accepts anyone regardless of race, gender, and religious beliefs. Not only does he use parallelism, he also uses a hyperbole by exaggerating the fact that students futures are being stolen from them with poor education. This is a hyperbole because the public schooling system isn t actually stealing the futures of these children, but he uses this rhetorical strategy to amplify the emotion and relevance of the issues with the public school system. These rhetorical strategies are effective because of the reaction he can get from the audience. He reminds society of the issues in every day American life, and what he d wish to do to fix these issues. He wishes to share the same common beliefs and desires of the common man by focusing on the issues the common man faces day to day. To explain return patterns that are anomalous from the classical viewpoint of EMH, it is necessary to introduce either market imperfections or failures of human rationality (Hirshleifer et.al, 2003). Love is what fuels the strength/bond between most families. And it didn t fail to do the same in the Rukami family. Despite the direct mention of love, love is very prominent throughout the novel. The actions, tones, and emotions of the characters show the underlying presence and strength lovecarries in this rural Indian community. Love is expressed in many different ways in this novel. Unlike other therapies, the purpose is not to speak about the trauma in detail or do homework. Except is a lot more complicated than it seems. The electoral college is the collection of 538 delegates that have the power to determine who the next president will be; the number of total representatives in the House and Senate. These 538 votes aren t given to the citizen directly, but they are instead divided among the 50 states in America. Currently, people are suggesting who their state should pick for president. Simply put, if a state has a majority of votes for one candidate, (however small the majority is) that candidate gets all the electoral votes from said state; winner takes all. So, a candidate must win over half of the voting population in enough states to get the majority of electoral votes to win the election. But that s not all, these said electors aren t nailed down to vote for who their state constituents want at all; millions of votes can be thrown in the trash and forgotten forever. Many believe the Electoral College s votes protect the states that have small populations from the large populations states and in turn candidates will have to give more attention to small states. If this was true, it is being executed horrifically. Candidates are visiting, advertising, and campaigning more and more in swing states. In other words, the electoral college doesn t make candidates care about small states, or even big states. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Games And Its Impact On Our Childhood Many of us have had some sort of gaming in our childhood. It s why we are who we are and why we play the games we play now, and I assume why you are here reading a gaming article. ChuckleFish s latest game Stardew Valley has taken the Nostalgia Train and taken a lot of players back to their roots of Sandbox games, Harvest Moon. Almost everyone I ve talked to about this game has at least played some sort of Harvest Moon game being that there have been loads that have come out and still consistently are being released even to this day. However, Stardew Valley has taken us back to the SNES Graphics style and really delivered a Harvest Moon of Today in terms of gameplay. After around 50 hours of Gametime, I have lost myself in this simplistic yet addicting style of gameplay. Every morning I wake up, step out of bed, walk out the door into the vast open world of my farm. I start out the average morning watering crops doing the mundane stuff. I ll clean up the yard should a pine tree step out of its invisible bounds that I ve placed that Mother Nature cannot seem to see, nor understand. However, I can use the extra wood and sap for crafting. Stardew Valley boasts a comprehensive crafting system. It fails in depth to Minecraft, though there is a lot to be made, and will make life on the farm a whole lot easier. After my work is finished on the farm, I make my way into town and do my rounds, pick up some seeds drop off a present to the lovely Leah. Oddly, I have noticed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This research is important because understanding what makes a juvenile delinquent is necessary to know. Parents can be educated on what is affecting their teen to contribute to delinquent behavior. The family structure has been avoided by many citizens. Educating the public on the family structure can make a different in a teen s life. Social Scientist started to examine the family structure when they began to notice a high divorce rate that began in the 1960s. They wanted to know how divorce was affecting children mentally and if they were more likely to commit crimes than those who had both parents. Social scientist studies began to show that children who come from divorced parents tend to have more academic, behavioral, and emotional problems. When parents decide to divorce or separate, the child or children begin to stress because they know that everything is going to change and this can cause fear among the child. Studies have shown that a few children begin to adapt to their parents separation. However, more than one third of children were clinically depressed, failing in school, had low social communication, were unable to sleep and eat, and hoped that one day their parents would get back together. • 45. John Adams And George Washington Essay John Adams and George Washington were two instrumental leaders during the American Revolution. Both men were quintessential to the success of the revolution in their own way. John Adams pushed the revolutionary agenda and George Washington lead the continental army. The methods for which they led our nation to success varied due to their differing leadership styles. In consequence, George Washingtonhas gone down in History as a larger than life hero whereas John Adams has nearly been forgotten. Though both Adams and Washington rose to become influential figures during the revolution, their origins differed. Adams was born into a middle class farming family in Massachusetts. His father was a farmer/deacon who decided John should go to university and learns a noble trade. John received a formal education from Harvard and went into the admirable profession of the Law. On the other hand, George Washington, although born into a respected aristocratic Virginian family, did not receive a proper formal education because his father died before Washington was of age to study in England, as was planned. Nonetheless Washington gained knowledge from experience and observing those around him. The personal connections Washington had resulted in many job opportunities for him. Though his education was cut short by his father s death, he still had many important mentors such as Colonial Fairfax who granted Washington with opportunity. Due to whom he knew, Washington was able to collect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although catheters provide vascular access, they put the patients at risk for developing local and systemic infections. Dialysis CRBSI can be obtained during insertion in the operating theatre and handling of the catheterby the health care team post insertion. Causes include improper technique in hand washing, breaking principles of aseptic technique when managing catheters and contaminated supplies. It is quite tough to describe and to put a figure on the occurrence of dialysis CRBSI despite the presence of standardised procedures in every institution. One more concern would be the systems for reporting cases of CRBSI among dialysis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The appraisals ran for four weeks during September 2010 in all dialysis units mentioned earlier. The outcome of the audits on clinical practice which involved forty occasions of CVDC procedures revealed differences in routine practice. Nurses differ greatly in maintaining cleanliness of work area before opening the sterile supplies, preserving the dressing set s sterility and if proper hand scrubbing was either finished or not before touching the catheter. There were also instances when either the patient or the nurse coughs and talks while the catheter was out in the open. Documentation audit results which included charts of fifty five patients with CVDC demonstrated significant contrast of medical records in the bedside to the electronic database in the unit. It appears that logging of insertions and removals were done obediently on the electronic database compared to bedside medical records which accounts to merely 10 percent of catheter site appearance recorded and just 55 percent on documented CVC catheter care for each treatment. Based from the end results, the working party devised a standardised routine for managing central venous dialysis catheter in order to decrease differences in practise as well as to warrant evidence based practice. A standard haemodialysis treatment form has also been adjusted to include a part wherein the observations regarding the catheter exit site as well as dressing could be examined and recorded in every session of dialysis. ... • 50. The Gray Zone by Primo Levi The Gray Zone by Primo Levi Summary In the chapter, the gray zone, the author Primo Levi describes the human relationships inside the Lager. In describing the gray zone, Levi discusses the different roles of prisoners assigned by the Nazi. The prisoners that did the work were seen as being more privileged which at the end of the day helped them get more food and live better. Therefore, the concept of the gray zone is analyzing the difference between the privileged and the non privileged in the Lager. Terrence Des Pres, The Survivor Summary The Survivor by Terrence Des Pres discusses how prisoners survived in poor living conditions in the Warsaw Ghetto. He defines a survivor as, ...any man or women striving to keep life and spirit intact not only those who returned, but the hundreds of thousands who stayed alive sometimes for years, only to die at the last minute. He describes the experience in the Ghetto where it was possible to survive with the collective efforts of others, which is the opposite of how Primo Levi described it. Survivors experienced help from each other such as gifts of food from friends and family. People were willing to give up their valuables for the better of others. With these little gestures people felt better and more rich about their experience which helped lighten the mood in the Ghetto. However, thousands still died every day at Treblinka, a concentration camp in Poland. At the peak of operations, 15,000 men, women and children died there each day. Death on that scale took enormous labor, and towards the end, when the SS began to fear discovery, the mass graves were opened and the rotting bodies burned. The Sonderkommando, a group of prisoners, were responsible of disposing bodies of other prisoners. The purpose of surviving till the end was to tell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A few of the skills which I learnt on placement were how to effectively use my interpersonal skills along with my use of self and learnt how to recording information on the organisations database. These skills link in with my learning plan, in particular my learning goal of participate in professional practice with a focus on the use of self and practice standards. When I was on placement, I was a part of a team which required me to use my interpersonal skills and use of self in a particular way. By being a part of a team I had to comprehend how I was going to use my interpersonal skills and use of self, for example I was using my personality, non verbal and verbal cues to interact with clients and my team. Towards the end of placement I was provided with the opportunity to use my self and interpersonal skills while working with a young girl. The way in which I used my interpersonal skills was by sitting at the same level as the young girl and I mirrored her behaviour in some sections of the meeting. When I was working with the young girl, I made sure that there were no barriers such as a table in the middle of us. Another key skill which I obtained was information recording by writing case notes and assessments. Throughout my placement, I was able to use the Structured Decision Making (SDM) tools to conduct assessments for the social workers regarding their clients referral. By doing ...
