The Portrayal Of Heterosexual Love
Chapter 2: Literature Review
This literature review will explore research on the portrayal of heterosexual love in film and the
effects that it has on millennial women and through the cycle of repression, its effect on minorities.
The analytical framework consists of feminist theory as described by John Storey and Stuart Hall s
representation theory. Then, feminism in romantic fiction will be again be explored academically by
Storey, exploring the power that romantic fiction in pop culture has on society and it role it plays in
sex.
Next, the phenomenon that is known as, love at first sight will be dissected looking at why this type of
storyline is so popular.
Following, submission in relationships as portrayed in film will ... Show more content on

Focusing on how women will never be free in a patriarchal system, because men are constantly
oppressing women pushing them away from total freedom. Ensuring that the integrity of the
patriarchal system will remain intact regardless of the setting, in the family home or in government
office.
In Marxist feminist analysis the ultimate source of oppression is capitalism. The domination of women
by men is seen as a consequence of capital s domination over labour, (Storey, 1998, p.135). This wave
of feminism is in essence blaming the system for the repression of women, by allowing men to
dominate the workforce. Men dominating the workforce and being the bread winners gave them the
appearance of being the stronger gender and in turn making women appear weaker.
The liberal feminist is the male prejudice against women, this is the idea that men are better than
women for no good reason.
By combining these three different waves of feminism, the struggles and oppression that women face
in their everyday lives is easily demonstrated and applicable to romantic fiction in entertainment
media.
Feminism in Romantic Fiction Popular culture mass produces romantic fiction that are pure fantasies
for women including harlequin romances, gothic novels and soap operas. Storey combined with
Modleski, argue that these popular narratives speak to real tensions and problems in women s lives,
making them relatable. Comparing to

Reaction Paper On Carbohydrates
Introduction
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are usually known as sugars and they have the general formula Cx(H2O)y (Elmhurst
College, 2003). Depending on the number of monomers, carbohydrates can be monosacharides,
oligosaccharides or polysaccharides. Monomers are the single monosaccharide units alone.
Oligosaccharides can contain from 2 to 10 monosaccharides and polysaccharides are made of many
monosaccharides. They may also contain either a ketone or aldehyde functional group (King, 2014).
Some examples of monosaccharide include glucose, galactose and fructose. Disaccharides are part of
oligosaccharides they contain 2 monomer units maltose is made of 2 glucose molecules, lactose made
of a galactose and glucose molecule and sucrose which consists of a glucose and fructose molecule
serve as some examples. They are bound together by 1, 4 glycosidic bonds. Cellulose, starch and
glycogen are examples of polysaccharides their monomers are bound by 1,4 as well as 1.6 glycosidic
bonds. (Pearson Education, Inc, 2013).
Proteins
Research by Lau (2005) shows that proteins are one of the basic components of organisms. They are
made up of many monomers of amino acids. The amino acid structure (except proline) contains a
carboxylic group, an amine group and an R group also referred to as the side chain (Gorga, 2007).

The general test for all carbohydrates is the molisch s test all of the carbohydrate samples had a purple
ring formation. To prove this.Benedict s test showed that glucose and fructose were reducing sugars.
Tollen s test gave a positive result with glucose and fructose indicating that they were reducing sugars.
Barfoed s test showed that glucose and fructose were monosaccharides as they underwent a colour
change. With seliwanoff s test fructose only fructose gave a positive result, confirming that it was a

Gabriela My Personality
Gabriela Kaczmarczyk was my student for two years of high school (11th and 12th grade).
Throughout those years, she made herself known as an extremely energetic person, exuberant even.
She always took active part in my lessons, willingly participating in any kind of discussion. Her ideas,
given the topic, were always relevant. She is the girl who encouraged her fellow students to speak up,
or even to argue their point, for she herself is an excellent speaker. While working on a broad
spectrum of cultural texts, her conclusions are most of the time genuinely original. She tends to look
for unique answers, her judgments are both fresh and controversial. On the other hand, even given her
spontaneity, Gabriela s personal culture is spotless, and the same can be said about her approach to
discussion. She has never offended anyone, for she is accepting of all sorts of judgments and opinions.
Gabriela was not only active during my lessons, but also took part in many extracurricular activities,
the most notable being a literary contest. She wrote a story, which showed her creativity, also earning
her the third place. This situation proved that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most probably her disposition makes it easy for her to speak, and difficult to write. Sometimes she can
not follow the subject. She happens to digress and uses thought abbreviations. I believe that these
shortfalls can be worked on, even more so because Gabriela listens and tries her best to do better next
time. She has no problem with accepting constructive critique. She was always glad to talk with me as
a teacher, she happened to be a great listener. Our conversations helped me understand her many
interests, especially artistic ones. Gabriela reads a lot, watches movies, and visits the theater quite
frequently. She is familiar with modern art and literature. She can speak interestingly, passionately

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ipv6
In the previous section I presented an overview of current adoption of IPv6, described its main
features, and detailed the new address protocol header format.
In this section, I will introduce IPv6 operating mechanisms such as transition technologies that allow
its coexistence with IPv4 or essential protocols like Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP) the replacer
of Address Resolution Protocol for IPv4. Furthermore in this Section I will focus on security aspects
regarding all mentioned mechanisms, protocols or IPv6 features like the new security paradigm that
raises with the end of NAT or the reconnaissance game changer due to huge address space of IPv6.

Translation
This model pretends to one would like to make any system and any application running on it able to

application regardless of whether they have an IPv4 stack and connectivity or IPv6 stack and
connectivity. It is the only mechanism that allows IPv4 only devices to speak to IPv6 only (e.g.

During the last decade, most people simple thought something like I am just running IPv4 and it
works well... so I don´t care about IPv6 yet! .
The problem is that IPv6 is enabled by default along with IPv4 on most OS since 2005 using the Dual
Stack mechanism. This means that IPv6 communications can occur despite ACL or firewall rules, if
those are not properly set to handle IPv6. This raises one of the biggest security problem which is
invisibility , it means that the network we can see is IPv4 but hidden communications can happen in

Cochlear Implants And Other Communication Disorders
I first learned about cochlear implants in my special education class. My initial thought was that they
were a beneficial advancement in technology and in the medical field for those who were deaf or hard
of hearing. In my field experience, I observed a sixth grade teacher at Donnell Middle School. In her
class, I observed two students who had cochlear implants and an interpreter who was in front of the
classroom signing what the teacher was saying. I thought that was really neat to see and experience for
the first time. Through further research on cochlear implants, I came to the conclusion that cochlear
implants do not fix the patient s hearing entirely and that there are many positive and negative factors
to consider when getting a cochlear implant. So what is a cochlear implant? According to the National
Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, A cochlear implant is a small, complex
electronic device that can help to provide a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or
severely hard of hearing. The implant consists of an external portion that sits behind the ear and a
second portion that is surgically placed under the skin (NIDCD). Cochlear implants do not restore a
person s hearing and work differently from a hearing aid. The implants, bypass damaged portions of
the ear and directly stimulate the auditory nerve. Signals generated by the implant are sent by way of
the auditory nerve to the brain, which recognizes the signals as sound

With their big eyes, big ears, and bigger than life attitude, this Alfa fears nothing. This Alfa is named
the Chihuahua. The Chihuahua comes in a very diminutive package. Although some people dislike
them, many think they are a very astonishing breed. The Aztecs were a big part in the history of the
Chihuahua. The Chihuahua is a graceful breed with bright, alert eyes. Their large ears are in the shape
of a triangle. Their big ears are almost bat like because they are so large. The Chihuahua needs lots of
grooming but long haired Chihuahuas need the most. The Chihuahuas coat may be smooth or long. It
can also be straight or wavy. The Chihuahua is the smallest of the registered dog breeds. Although ...

The Techichi was crossed with tiny, hairless, Chinese dogs. The mix resulted in a dog similar to the
Chihuahua. They were first brought to America when Alaska and Asia were still connected to it. They
may have also brought to Latin America directly by Spanish traders in the 1500s. The Chihuahua is
probably crossed with the English Black and the Tan Terriers. The long coated Chihuahuas were
probably the result of crossing smooth coated Chihuahuas with Papillons and Pomeranians. The
Aztecs adopted the little dogs as sacred icons of the upper classes. They were also used in religious
ceremonies. The Toltecs are believed to be the first to domesticate the Techichi. The remains of the
Chihuahuas were found in graves in Mexico and the U.S. No one really knows for sure about the
Chihuahua s history. Their most recent ancestor is probably the Little Red Techichi. They were raised
by the Aztecs of Ancient Mexico. They were often killed with dead Aztecs as part of religious beliefs.
They also may have been used for food. The modern smooth haired Chihuahuas probably look much
the Techichi dogs did. The Chihuahua shares the same first ancestor with all dogs. The wolf is their
first ancestor. Then the Giant St. Bernards and the Alaskan Malamutes. The Graw Chihuahua looks

Ishmael Outcasts
In biblical times, there lived a man named Abraham and his beloved wife Sarah, who prayed to God
every day for the gift of a child. Sarah, however, remained barren and suggested Abraham sleep with
his servant Haggar as a surrogate. Haggar did bare a child named Ishmael, but Sarah grew to despise
Haggar and her child for gifting Abraham with what she could not. As time past, Sarah gave birth to
Isaac, the miracle child, and God decided Isaac would receive his covenant and subsequently Ishmael
and Haggar were banished as outcasts. In the first line of Moby Dick by Herman Melville, Ishmael
utters the words Call me Ishmael (pg. 18) immediately categorizing himself as an outcast. He does not
fit in with people on land nor at sea, and his intellectualism sets him apart from average whalers.
While Ishmael remains in limbo between the two worlds, he finds a home in a person rather than a
place: Queequeg. Despite his status as a drifter, Ishmael feels a sense of familiar allegiance with ...

He pressed his forehead against mine, clasped me round the waist, and said henceforth we were

Queequeg, as they compare themselves to a married couple. This idea of a marriage arises again in
Chapter 72 The Monkey rope when Ishmael holds Queequeg s harness so that he can safety stay on
the surface of the dead whale. It was a humorously perilous business for both of us...so that for better
or for worse, we two, for the time, were wedded. (pg.255) He may remain an outcast to land and to
sea, but Ishmael will always have a home with

Casey And Goliath Similarities
In the poem Casey at the bat and the story David and Goliath there are similarities and differences.
The characters Casey and David have similarities. One of these similarities is that they are both
confident. In David and Goliath it says, Today the Lord will help me defeat you. I ll knock you down
and cut off your head, and I ll feed the bodies of the other Philistine soldiers to the birds and wild
animals. This shows that David is confident that the lord will help him kill Goliath. In Casey at the bat
it says, Close by the sturdy batsman the ball unheeded sped That ain t my style, said Casey. This
shows that because Casey was confident he thought that the way the ball was thrown wasn t his style.
The next similarity between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In David and Goliath it says, The king is offering a big reward to the man who kills Goliath. That man
will even get to marry the king s daughter, and no one in his family will ever have to pay taxes again.
This shows why David wanted to try and kill Goliath. The last similarity is that both characters are
brave. In Casey at the bat it says, That ain t my style, said Casey. Strike one, the umpire said. Also it
says, But Casey still ignored it, and the umpire said, Strike two. This shows that Casey is brave
because he let two of the three balls go by him. In David and Goliath it says that David goes out there
with only a piece of wood while Goliath has a sword and shield. This proves that David is brave
because He went to kill someone with a sword, with a piece of wood and a rock. Both of the characters
also have many things that make them different. The first thing that makes them different is that Casey
had many cheering fans to help with his confidence whereas no one was cheering for David. In the
poem Casey at the bat it states, And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed his hat, No
stranger in the crowd could doubt twas Casey at the bat. Ten thousand eyes were on him as he rubbed
his hands with dirt; Five thousand tongues applauded when he wiped them on his shirt. This part of
the poem tells that five thousand people were there

I Am Born With Multiple Birth Defects, Including A Cleft...
I was born with multiple birth defects, including a cleft palate. These defects required me to need
several surgeries throughout my childhood. This experience introduced me to the medical field early
on and started my passion for pursuing a career in the discipline. I came to University of South Florida
as a pre nursing student in the hopes of making in to the nursing program. I plan to apply to nursing
school this spring and hope to continue my education to become a Certified Registered Nurse
Anesthetist, Pediatric Registered Nurse, or a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
My previous experience in the hospital setting showed me many different career options within the
field, and one that always stuck out was CRNAs. They were always the ones to make me feel
comfortable and safe as they put me to sleep before a surgery, making them one of my favorite
individuals in the surgical room. I want to be a CRNA so I can be that person for children going
through the same thing that I went through. Additionally, I enjoy science and have always excelled in
the subject, so I am extremely fascinated in the science behind anesthesia. The idea of putting
someone to sleep to make surgery tolerable and painless interests me.
Education
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is a two year graduate program. To be accepted in to this
program you must receive a bachelor s degree in nursing, be certified as a registered nurse, and

Burning Down The House By Neil Bernstein
Burning Down the House Review
America s answer for dealing with crime prevention is locking up adult offenders in correctional
facilities with little rehabilitation for reentry into society. American response for crime prevention for
juvenile s offenders is the same strategy used against adult offenders taken juvenile offenders miles
away from their environment and placed in adult like prisons. However the way juvenile our house

altering effect on juveniles entering correctional facilities. Many juveniles who entered the juvenile
justice system are victims themselves of parental mistreatment such as neglect, physical, and
emotional abuse. Once children into the juvenile system and is labeled a juvenile similar to adults
being labeled a felon. These young offenders are stigmatized as criminal with little distinction
between adults and juvenile offenders entering the prison system for the first time. Bernstein (2014)
paints a vivid picture of how incarcerated juveniles expose to a new set of challenges such as
posttraumatic stress syndrome, curtailed education, gang affiliation, and a gladiator mentality. These
challenges that can develop in juvenile facility has

The Harm Principle Of Gambling

countries, women are drafted into the military right after they are finish with schooling.
One reason why I believe women should be drafted is because equality. One in five new military

Ten Commandments Vs Beatitudes
The average person tries to follow a set of beliefs, an above average person follows a set of beliefs.
Tons of people argue whether the Ten Commandments or the Beatitudes should be followed. The Ten
Commandments can only be viewed one way. The Beatitudes seem vague and can be construed in a
multitude of different ways. Then Ten Commandments demonstrate simplicity, whereas the Beatitudes
look complex and confusing, ergo cultures should follow the Ten Commandments over the Beatitudes.
In all honesty the Beatitudes seem to confuse people. The ideas that Jesus tried to get across can be
easily lost in translation. As Matthew 5:3 reads Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom
of heaven. This rule seems unclear and would be misconstrued ... Show more content on

Cultures and groups of people that pursue different lifestyles tend to disagree with each other. If these
people would follow one set of rules they would always be able to go back their set of beliefs, the Ten
Commandments, and resolve the issue based on their rules. The Ten Commandments make sense and
they supersede the Beatitudes. If a group of twenty people viewed the Ten Commandments with no
bias, they would all come to the same conclusion. If that same group looked at the Beatitudes with no
bias, they would come to a plethora of conclusions. In comparison, the Ten Commandments prevail as
rules while the Beatitudes remain suggestive and perplexing. To adduce the Ten Commandments even
further a culture could inspect the contrast between a few of the Commandments and the Beatitudes.
Exodus 20:8 reads Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy, and Matthew 5:6 reads Blessed are
they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. When an individual reads
the line from the Ten Commandments they know exactly what they need to do. Simply do not forget
about the Sabbath. When looking at the Beatitudes, that individual would draw several outcomes.

Ten Commandments states this in a more translucent way than the

Monotheistic Religions Research Paper
Muslims, Jews, and Christians... The Same?
Most people generally think that the three monotheistic religions are very different. However, these
are ordinary people, of different religions, and different thoughts. When you celebrate a specific
religion you usually don t want to acknowledge other religions because you feel as though you turn
your back on your god. That is incorrect. The three primary monotheistic religions are Judaism, Islam,
and Christianity. Of course they are different in endless ways, but they are also very identical. Judaism
was the first major religion to teach the existence of one god, which is known as monotheism. Judaism
is a tree with two strong branches, Christianity and Islam. Finally concluding that all three religions ...

They all have a place for worship, a religious book, a religious leader, and other similarities.
Synagogues, Churches, and Mosques are all the same concept except with different names. In the
three religions they have very similar features with different names. In this case we are talking about
religious leader. A religious leader is just a person passionate about a religion that runs the temple and
reads prayers. Some of these leaders are are called priests, rabbis, and imams.
Muslims, Jews, and Christians all believe in the same god. Although they all have different stories,
and call the god different names it s all the same because it originated from one religion, Judaism.
They also travel in groups for religious purposes. For example Muslims go to Mecca, Jews and
Christians travel to churches. The colossal migrations are called a hajj. They are very sacred, and
important. Although Muslims, Jews, and Christians are quite similar, they do not have everything in
common. For example the Islamic religion prays five times a day, travels all the way to Mecca, and
fast. This may seem a little extreme for Jews and Christians, because Jews pray only three times a day,
and Christians pray only a few times a day. No matter how many times they pray they are extremely
special, and true to the

Enrique s Journey Rhetorical Analysis
8. Explain the difference between ethos, pathos and logos and why they are each effective rhetorical
strategies. Provide a real world example of each and how those examples are successful at persuading
their intended audience.
Ethos, pathos and logos are all rhetorical strategies that are used and studies today by many writers
and students all across the world. They are there to persuade and appeal to the readers thinking. Ethos
is the ethics used by the writer which is most often appeal to the reader through credibility. Pathos is
emotion, so it is the appeal to the reader through emotion in the writing. Lastly, logos which is most
often known as logic, therefore, it is the appeal to the reader through the use of logic throughout the

I believe that it s safe to say I enjoyed the read and would recommend it to other readers around the
school. However, constantly it went against my thinking and made me angry quite often. What made
me so angry and upset was how often it skipped over things such as the law and tried to hide and
cover the fact that what Enrique and his mother were doing throughout the whole story was illegal.
The author constantly tried to hide the fact of the truth and try to make people forget about the bad
side of what they were doing, even though they had good intentions, it still is hiding the truth in a
sense when as a journalist you should say only the truth and the whole story. Not try to hide things
from the reader to essentially manipulate them. Another example of this hiding is when she constantly
used the word migrants instead of immigrants when people had directly left one country into another
meaning immigrants not migrants, essentially again I think she did this because the word immigrants
looks bad because often times immigrants have tainted the word by their actions. Because of all these
things, I think it was way to much of a political agenda to appeal more to illegal immigrants. The story
did spark some emotion in me as what happens to Enrique on his journey is truly sad and makes you
feel sympathetic for him. He has to go through lots of beatings and constantly being taken advantage
of throughout his whole journey. What made me feel hopeful or Enrique is that he was able to
eventually see his mother, and that hopefully more kids can be reunited with their mothers or families,
I d prefer though that it was legally but I am happy for Enrique that he was able to see his mother. I
don t think that Enrique s Journey shouldn t be a necessary read as I think it tells a good story yet has
no thing that really is learned from it, as lots of times what it is sharing goes

Powerful Women of The Faerie Queene and Paradise Lost Essay
Two very powerful female figures are presented in Error of The Faerie Queene, and Sin of Paradise
Lost. These two characters are quite similar in description, Milton making a clear tribute to Spencer s
work. Both characters have the same monster qualities, and both posses allegorical names and
qualities.
Error is by far the most disgustingly described of the two monsters. In Book 1, Canto 1, she is the first
obstacle to meet the knight and his party. She represents the consequences of the night s foolhardiness
and over confidence. Seeking shelter from a storm while lost in the woods, the knight and his party
come across a cave. He is warned by Una not to enter the dark and foreboding cave, Oft fire is without

Unlike the serpent in Eden, however, Error is unsuccessful.
Wishing to remain in darkness, where plaine none might her see, nor she see any plaine,(144) she is
alarmed by the knight s intrusion and uncoils her tail in an attempt to escape. The knight, quick on his
feet, leaps as lyon fierce upon the flying pray,(146) and keeps here there to fight. This further shows
that the knight is just looking for a fight to impress the fair Una. After he strikes the beast with his
blade, she wraps the knight in her huge traine. The tail is a literal foreshadowing of the tangled mess
the knight gets himself into with the other evil female character, Duessa, who, figuratively, holds him
in her tail of evil and deception.
As the knight seems defeated, held immovable by Error s tail, Una yells out her first inspirational
advice to strangle her, else she sure will strangle thee(166) , which miraculously gives him the extra
strength to free a hand with which to grip the beast s throat. At this, the monster

Pre and Post Reconstruction Period Politics, Economic and Social Effects
This research paper is intended to explain in general terms some of the political, economics and social
effects America dealt with during the Pre and Post Reconstruction Period.
During the last years of the Civil War, as Union forces moved closer to victory and millions of former
slaves became free, Americans began to think about how to reconcile the splintered parts of the nation
and were immediately faced with a series of complex questions that required some resolutions. Some
issues raised were: a) How would the former states of the Confederacy be integrated back ... Show

These measures represented a substantial departure from the system of the old South; yet few
reforming politicians were not able to go as far and to have as much effect as they intended. In
addition, white Southern Republicans, who outnumbered their black colleagues, gave only window
dressing like support to black civil rights, preferring to court Southern Democrats through moderation
on racial issues (Forner 364 411). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were intended to
redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to the old
plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence on cotton as
a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew Johnson and
early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into a land of
industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts of money
into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation methods.
Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and swelled the ranks of
the economically exploited lower classes. Railways allowed for the extension of cotton plantations
into the upcountry and further west, onto lands occupied by subsistence farmers. Furthermore, new
technology and the increasing efficiency

Japanese Internment Camps During Ww2

It is difficult to imagine a time when images of women s naked bodies were kept behind closed doors

For a mere fifty cents per issue, anyone could have George Petty and Alberto Varga s drawings of

Examples Of Class Structure In Sons And Lovers
D.H Lawrence s Sons and Lovers takes us back to the heart of industrialization the age where people
were more concerned with money, power and class. In the first chapter the use of THE BOTTOMS ,
Hell Row and Bestwood signifies different areas where people belonging to different ranks lived. We
come to know that Mrs. Morel is being forced to move into a new residence at The Bottoms and for
her this is a great loss. Bestwood might not have been a great place for her but at least it was a better
place than The Bottom which was now on the edge of its destruction. Mr. Morel and Mrs. Morel are
the perfect example of the tragedy that the class system brings. The first chapter gives us an insight
into Mrs. Morel s class we discover that Mrs. Morel came of a good old burgher family (Lawrence 33)
thus pointing out that Mrs. Morel s ideal s and manners were completely different from those of Mr.

The Battle Of National Pride
In society the word soldier creates importance. The common usage of the word is an individual who
fights or is a part of an army. In the United States a soldier displays utmost importance. The natural
feeling one can get when encountering a soldier is pride, freedom, bravery and safety. When looking
back to US history a soldier has proven essential to priceless building of American character. The
struggles of injustice and fear have been and still continue to be defended with soldiers. The United
States invests and trains thousands of soldiers. The Army, Navy, Air force, and Marines are just a few
branches of the US military that characterizes the meaning of national pride. Although, the world
encounters different perspectives with the term soldiers ; they can be the opposite of an opposing
countries ideology. The US loves their soldier, but countries that have lost to the US military see
soldiers inducing fear, power and havoc. The Iraq and Iran wars are seen from the US to gain freedom
from possible terror but innocent civilians of these countries see US soldiers as raiders, bringing fear
and posing hostility (Dreazen). They fight for something and thus this is the drive to making a soldier.
A soldier is not all physically engaging. There are many people who run a race to fight for a true cause
and they are coined as a solider too. For example, in the song Onward, Christian Soldiers , from the
19th century creates the idea of an evangelical soldier (Sullivan). There

While most Cambodian Americans are loyal to their own family units it is not uncommon for them to
be hesitant about close interaction with strangers even other Cambodians. The hesitation that some
Cambodian Americans face when meeting with strangers is due to the fact that the Cambodian culture
is one of high power distance. Hierarchy is determined usually by age or economic status. Social
hierarchy of age is evident in the greetings. Depending on who you are greeting determines the type of
greeting. If one were to greet someone who is Cambodian, they should do the formal put hands

Failures And Failures Of The United Nations
The United Nations is widely regarded and respected as the most powerful institution that promotes
international cooperation and human rights action. In theory, actions implemented by and within the
United Nations are based on the mutual global goal of protecting international human rights and
preventing human sufferings. These actions are constituted through three main mechanisms: the
Treaty based system, the Human Rights Council, and Security Council and Humanitarian
Interventions, with the level of confrontation and seriousness in each mechanism increases
respectively. While aimed to serve the mutual goal of protecting human rights over the world and have
shown some successes, in a world of sovereignty, actions when implemented are in fact grounded by
the national interests of each state, including embracing its national sovereignty, concreting its
strategic relationships with other states, and enhancing its reputation in the international community.
This paper will analyze the successes and failures of each of the three mechanisms of the United
Nations regime, through which it aims to prove that when it comes to actions, states focus more on
their national, and in some cases, regional interests than on the mutual goal of strengthening human
rights throughout the world, thus diminishing the legitimacy of the whole United Nations system.
The first and least confrontational mechanism of the United Nations regime is the Treaty based
system, constituted by ten treaties on

result in assets being impaired earlier under IFRS and Mexican FRS. However, there are certain
differences on the impairment testing under the three frameworks. The broad based requirement to
capitalize development costs under IFRS and Mexican FRS (when certain criteria are met) creates the
potential for differences compared with US GAAP, wherein development costs are generally expensed
as incurred. IFRS prohibits (whereas US GAAP and Mexican FRS permit) the use of the lastin, first

Challenges Facing Virginia Rometty And Ibm
Challenges facing Virginia Rometty and IBM One major challenge is maintaining a competitive
advantage. With advances in technology, other companies have been able to offer solutions that are
much more affordable. The introduction of cloud based software solutions has caused major
disruptions to the client s core business. Instead of investing in hardware with follow up support,
businesses are now able to utilize the same services through the cloud at a lower cost. The client must
focus on emerging markets, as they are ripe for technological growth. Attracting the best talent to help
sustain the competitive advantage has also become a challenge to overcome. During the Watson Era,
IBM transformed from a medium sized technology company to ... Show more content on

Additionally, the speed in which IBM s advancements and transformations are taking place, and the
speed in which the core business has declined, has caused more challenges. While Rometty has made
some very valuable accomplishments and changes, they are not effective enough to combat the decline
of the business. The client has to work quickly and efficiently to put all new procedures into place, to
test and execute. Furthermore, the clients will spend additional time training the staff on these new
processes and procedures. While the laying off of thousands of employees only to hire new employees
with updated skill sets may be a huge advancement in one regard, it can pose as a minor setback as it
ties into the training and developing of the new employees to these new standards. Now, with a
multitude of employees and systems to manage, the client must ensure that the company is operating
to the best of its ability. Time plays a factoring role into the company s advancement and planning to
fix existing challenges, simultaneously, as other areas of the company are hitting setbacks.
Stakeholders Roles The client s primary internal stakeholders include the Board of Directors (BOD),
Management, and Stockholders. The Board of Directors work in the interests of the Company,
bringing with them skills and expertise. The board has shown faith in Rometty s ability to turn the
company around and meet its obligation to the owners.

Lake County Fair Job Analysis
In life people and experiences come into our lives to help us grow and change. Last year I met my
aunt s best friend, Patti. Patti is a creative, American loving cowgirl, who works hard for everything
and who has become like family to me. Late this summer Patti asked me to work for her at Lake
County Fair and Boone County Fair here in Illinois. Without much hesitation I agreed to it, not
understand fully how much my shyness would make it tougher to perform my job. In that moment I
took on the job, I would have never have thought it would benefit my life in any way. As a child, I was
awfully shy to everyone new I met. When my parents introduced me to someone unfamiliar I would
hide behind my mom or dad and pretend like I was not there. I figured ... Show more content on

One thing I was really worried about was meeting people and if they would be nice or like me. When
you work at a carnival, no matter what or where you are working, you are considered a carny. Now
when most people think of a carny, they think of a middle aged person who smiles showing off their
gum line because of their lack of teeth or someone who looks untidy, eerie, stinks of cigarettes and a
homelessness, or you get a gut feeling telling you you should not be talking to them. This is not the
case for all carnies. Carnies can also be the opposite. When they smile, they show off their teeth that
should be in a dentist office promoting their business, or they are welcoming, engaging, and one of the
most approachable people you ll ever meet. I m not saying at fairs you won t meet a carny that makes
your skin crawl out of your body, and at the same time you ll also meet the most genuine people.
These are the people that helped me get over my fear of talking to strangers. When I realized how
wonderful these people could be, I started engaging in conversations with them. After I started
engaging in conversation with them, my job became way more enjoyable. By the end of the week
people know my name, I know theirs and it puts a real smile on my face. I came out of my shell and
stopped acting shy. This one of the best experience that has helped me grow and find

The Doctrine Of The Divine Command Theory
The Divine Command Theory dictates that An act is morally required just because it is commanded by
God, and immoral just because God forbids it (Shafer Landau 65). This view is often accepted by
religious people as the basis for morality; the morality of an action is determined by whether or not it
is commanded by God. However, there are multiple problems presented by this line of thinking. One
of the most common arguments against this theory is known as the Euthyphro Dilemma, derived from
Plato s account of Socrates questioning Euthyphro about the determinant of piety, albeit in relation to
the polytheistic Greek system of belief. In this account, Socrates asks if ...the gods love actions
because they are pious, or are actions pious because the gods love them? This inquiry can also
obviously be applied to the modern, monotheistic interpretation of the Divine Command Theory. As
Euthyphro struggles to answer the question, Socrates details the premises that lead to the conclusion
that the gods love actions because of their piety, and not the other way around. This refutes the Divine
Command Theory, and lays out a rather logical argument that explains the flaws in accepting it. While
the argument of the Euthyphro Dilemma is apparently logically sound, one potential objection is that
it limits the nature of morality to two distinct options, and excludes the possibility that moral goodness
is what corresponds to God s nature: God did not arbitrarily designate morality to

Relationship Between Female Friendships And Their...
To understand the value of relationships in Shakespeare s works, it is imperative to first understand the
dynamic of male to male friendships and their influence on martial ties. During the Elizabethan era,
male to male relations were far different than they are in our current day and time. During that period,
relationships were centered heavily on the societal place an individual held. This ensured that one
could only be a legitimate friend with someone if they were of the same sex and the same social class.
Thus, guaranteeing equality of the relationship. Furthermore, some authors of the Elizabethan era held
more qualifiers for such bonds. For example, Elyot adds the qualifier that males cannot establish their
relationships on profit or pleasure if the bond is to be of value and legitimacy (344). When viewed
through this strict lens, there exists a narrow division to who can be friends, especially when it comes
to those of higher social and monetary standing. Due to these qualifiers and dynamics, husband and
wife could not exist as friends because they were not equals due to their position in the household and
their opposite genders. In the analogy of the sun and the moon, the wife must serve as the moon and
reflect her spouse s light: submissive to his needs and obedient to his authority. If a husband and wife
did procure a friendship, it would be unnatural according to Montaigne. He inflexibly believed women
to possess too unpredictable and fiery of a demeanor for a

Wuthering Heights Chapter 2 Dialectical Journal
There was an eerie silence as she walked down the corridor. Click clack click clack.. The sound of her
footsteps echoed off the walls. She glanced out the window, the clouds were rolling in a deep black
front. The trees were contorting from the wind, flashes of lightning illuminate her face. Those soft,
caring eyes, and gorgeous brown hair. The epitome of perfection. She quickly pulls herself away from
the window, she can t be distracted. Not now. Patient 13 had escaped and she was the only staff in.
tick.. tick.. tick.. tick.. Time was running out, she had to find the patient before the storm hit. She had
checked every floor except for this one; floor #2. Something seemed different about this floor to her.
There was something off. There was no humming of equipment like there would normally be. Just

name again. The Nancy standing next to her tells her that the other Nancy must be dealt with. So as
fake nancy walks past room 222, they hit her over the head with a fire extinguisher. Finally the fear
was over, they put fake nancy in a secure room and begin to head towards the main entrance. Click

##otional And Psychological Blindness In Raymond Carver s...
Being blind manifest itself in a lot of ways. The most harmful type of this condition may be figurative
blindness of one s own situations and ignorance towards the feelings of others. Within Raymond
Carver s short story Cathedral, the narrator s emotional and psychological blindness is at once
obvious. The narrator faces many issues as well as the turn around experienced at the culmination of
the tale are the main ideas for the theme of this story; and these ideas aid the narrator in eventually
develop the character transformation by simply regarding the literal blind man in a positive light.
The narrators statement at the very beginning of the story explains his own lack of knowledge about
physical blindness. His lack of knowledge relating to the visitor s disability is not deniable, yet he
makes it very clear that he is aware of his ignorance, saying that he was not happy about his visit. He
was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered me. My idea of blindness came from the movies. In
the movies, the blind moved slowly and never laughed. Sometimes seeing eye dogs led them. A blind
man in my house was not something I looked forward to. (90) These statements explain his entire
attitude about Robert, the house guest, and other blind people in general at the onset of the story,
giving the narrator an instant feeling of exactly who the narrator and even what he may turn out to be.
While there are many undertones concerning other things about which he is

Security Stability in Somalia
Security Stability in Somalia
Since their indirect elections on September 12, 2012, and despite the fragile regional security situation
of the Horn of Africa, Somalia has continued to experience significant and sustained progress towards
security stability in their country. In order for Somalia to succeed as viable and trusted state, the
United States (US) as well as the International Community should not allow another security stability
failure in Somalia. The US and the International Community must focus on helping to sustain Somalia
s efforts against the fight of the Al Shabaab terrorist organization, help to counter piracy, and to help
build capacity and capability in the Somali government and its institutions. While at the same time ...

This recognition is important because allow the FGS to participate in certain assistance programs, to
include military training and financing (Watkins, 2013).
President Mohamud acknowledges that there is still external dependence on foreign aid and
assistance. Therefore, the President wants to articulate the international efforts within the framework
of his six pillars strategy. This strategy will try to establish the mechanisms for success in the
following order: achieve the stability of the country; accelerate the economic recovery; construct the
peace and exile the main causes of conflict; improve the capacity of the government to answer the
needs of its people and provide the required services; strengthen the bonds of friendship with
international associates, nearby countries and friends of Somalia; and finally, achieve the unity of
Somalia (Mohamud H. S., 2012).
The security to stabilize the country is clearly the pillar priority, and the essential requirement to
develop the rest of the pillars. Now, this does not mean that the different players in the International
Community extend their presence in Somalia indefinitely to consolidate the achievements made so far
in the field of security; but that the Somali security sector must be fully develop as soon as possible to
extend the authority of the state through the whole territory effectively and self sufficiently. President
Mohamud emphasized the

Andrew Jackson Presidency Essay
Andrew Jackson s presidency has been viewed in two different ways. He has been viewed as a hero to
the common man or as a tyrant who abused his power as president. There are plenty of examples to
support both sides, however when he was supporting the common man or being a tyrant, he was doing
what he felt would benefit the nation as a whole. The election of 1824 was not good one for Jackson.
He won the popular vote, but did not have enough electoral votes. In the end, the House of
Representatives had to decide the winner out of Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson
and William Crawford. Henry Clay did not want Jackson to be President, so he threw his support to
Adams. Which resulted in Adams being elected the sixth president of the ... Show more content on

For example, Jackson created the Spoils System which is the practice of giving jobs to supporters,
friends or relatives. This made many people mad at Jackson, however he still followed through with
his plan because he thought there were some crooks in office and this would get rid of them. While the
Spoils System had some failures it also had success. Jackson always had the future of America in his
mind. This is shown when he did not renew the bank s charter and used his presidential vetoes to
override Congress. This made many people upset, but Jackson believed that Congress did not have the
authority to create the bank in the first place. He also saw the bank was mainly working for the upper
classes which was unfair to the lower classes.
While Jackson has done wonders for America, he was not perfect. One of his flaws would be the
Indian Removal Act of 1830. While the Cherokee s march did not happen until after Jackson s
presidency, this can still be traced back to Jackson not upholding the rights of Native Americans
during his presidency. This Act forced the Cherokee nation to give up their lands and travel to present
day Oklahoma. During this journey, the Native Americans were faced with hunger, diseases and
exhaustion because of these problems around 4,000 people died. This brutal movement of the
Cherokee would become known as the Trail of

are also several different types of gasoline available, each with a different price. So, how do you know
which type of gasoline is the best for your vehicle and why is there such a difference in the cost of
different grades? Is it beneficial to pay a little extra for premium? Here are some answers to the most
common questions about the difference between the grades of gasoline.

Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both a representative government and deliberative
democracy the benefits are largely dependant on the context of policy making and whose interests are
being considered. A representative democracy is one that is currently in place across Australia and, for
the most part, the rest of the world whereby a group of representatives deliberate without unequal
distributions to power on behalf of the nations citizens by denoting their beliefs, attitudes and
perspectives. Recent and ongoing concerns regarding the self interested, bureaucratic nature of
government has lead to increased interest in a more classical deliberative form of democracy
particularly at the idea of public participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument being that representative democracy allows for politically educated and aware elected
representatives, who have the resources and expertise, to make informed decisions. This views the
decision to allow the general public who may lack political awareness or inclination to make rational,
well considered judgments, incredibly detrimental as average citizens may not consider long term
solutions or may marginalise individuals and minorities. Begging other questions in regards to
whether elected officials should utilise their skill and knowledge to lead the public through more
informed decision that may be better for the greater good of the community by acting independently
or operate merely as relay mechanisms for the views of their constituents (Australian Politics 2010).
Some advocates of representative democracy acknowledge its limitations, but argue that deliberative
democracy is simple unfeasible in modern conditions. A direct government with high levels of
participation may be possible amongst relatively small communities, because personal communication
can take place between and amongst its citizens, however it is impractical and ineefgctive when it
comes to larger nations or states. The idea of consulting the general public on all issues, sanctioning
wide ranging discussion and debate, and holding mass meetings conducted in modern

The Portrayal Of Heterosexual Love Chapter 2: Literature Review This literature review will explore research on the portrayal of heterosexual love in film and the effects that it has on millennial women and through the cycle of repression, its effect on minorities. The analytical framework consists of feminist theory as described by John Storey and Stuart Hall s representation theory. Then, feminism in romantic fiction will be again be explored academically by Storey, exploring the power that romantic fiction in pop culture has on society and it role it plays in sex. Next, the phenomenon that is known as, love at first sight will be dissected looking at why this type of storyline is so popular. Following, submission in relationships as portrayed in film will ... Ensuring that the integrity of the patriarchal system will remain intact regardless of the setting, in the family home or in government office. In Marxist feminist analysis the ultimate source of oppression is capitalism. The domination of women by men is seen as a consequence of capital s domination over labour, (Storey, 1998, p.135). This wave of feminism is in essence blaming the system for the repression of women, by allowing men to dominate the workforce. Men dominating the workforce and being the bread winners gave them the appearance of being the stronger gender and in turn making women appear weaker. The liberal feminist is the male prejudice against women, this is the idea that men are better than women for no good reason. By combining these three different waves of feminism, the struggles and oppression that women face in their everyday lives is easily demonstrated and applicable to romantic fiction in entertainment media. Feminism in Romantic Fiction Popular culture mass produces romantic fiction that are pure fantasies for women including harlequin romances, gothic novels and soap operas. Storey combined with Modleski, argue that these popular narratives speak to real tensions and problems in women s lives, making them relatable. Comparing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reaction Paper On Carbohydrates Introduction Carbohydrates Carbohydrates are usually known as sugars and they have the general formula Cx(H2O)y (Elmhurst College, 2003). Depending on the number of monomers, carbohydrates can be monosacharides, oligosaccharides or polysaccharides. Monomers are the single monosaccharide units alone. Oligosaccharides can contain from 2 to 10 monosaccharides and polysaccharides are made of many monosaccharides. They may also contain either a ketone or aldehyde functional group (King, 2014). Some examples of monosaccharide include glucose, galactose and fructose. Disaccharides are part of oligosaccharides they contain 2 monomer units maltose is made of 2 glucose molecules, lactose made of a galactose and glucose molecule and sucrose which consists of a glucose and fructose molecule serve as some examples. They are bound together by 1, 4 glycosidic bonds. Cellulose, starch and glycogen are examples of polysaccharides their monomers are bound by 1,4 as well as 1.6 glycosidic bonds. (Pearson Education, Inc, 2013). Proteins Research by Lau (2005) shows that proteins are one of the basic components of organisms. They are made up of many monomers of amino acids. Throughout those years, she made herself known as an extremely energetic person, exuberant even. She always took active part in my lessons, willingly participating in any kind of discussion. Her ideas, given the topic, were always relevant. She is the girl who encouraged her fellow students to speak up, or even to argue their point, for she herself is an excellent speaker. While working on a broad spectrum of cultural texts, her conclusions are most of the time genuinely original. She tends to look for unique answers, her judgments are both fresh and controversial. She has never offended anyone, for she is accepting of all sorts of judgments and opinions. • 6. Cochlear Implants And Other Communication Disorders I first learned about cochlear implants in my special education class. My initial thought was that they were a beneficial advancement in technology and in the medical field for those who were deaf or hard of hearing. In my field experience, I observed a sixth grade teacher at Donnell Middle School. In her class, I observed two students who had cochlear implants and an interpreter who was in front of the classroom signing what the teacher was saying. I thought that was really neat to see and experience for the first time. Through further research on cochlear implants, I came to the conclusion that cochlear implants do not fix the patient s hearing entirely and that there are many positive and negative factors to consider when getting a cochlear implant. So what is a cochlear implant? According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, A cochlear implant is a small, complex electronic device that can help to provide a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing. The implant consists of an external portion that sits behind the ear and a second portion that is surgically placed under the skin (NIDCD). Cochlear implants do not restore a person s hearing and work differently from a hearing aid. The implants, bypass damaged portions of the ear and directly stimulate the auditory nerve. Signals generated by the implant are sent by way of the auditory nerve to the brain, which recognizes the signals as sound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not try to hide things from the reader to essentially manipulate them. Another example of this hiding is when she constantly used the word migrants instead of immigrants when people had directly left one country into another meaning immigrants not migrants, essentially again I think she did this because the word immigrants looks bad because often times immigrants have tainted the word by their actions. Because of all these things, I think it was way to much of a political agenda to appeal more to illegal immigrants. The story did spark some emotion in me as what happens to Enrique on his journey is truly sad and makes you feel sympathetic for him. He has to go through lots of beatings and constantly being taken advantage of throughout his whole journey. What made me feel hopeful or Enrique is that he was able to eventually see his mother, and that hopefully more kids can be reunited with their mothers or families, I d prefer though that it was legally but I am happy for Enrique that he was able to see his mother. I don t think that Enrique s Journey shouldn t be a necessary read as I think it tells a good story yet has no thing that really is learned from it, as lots of times what it is sharing goes ... • 24. Powerful Women of The Faerie Queene and Paradise Lost Essay Two very powerful female figures are presented in Error of The Faerie Queene, and Sin of Paradise Lost. These two characters are quite similar in description, Milton making a clear tribute to Spencer s work. Both characters have the same monster qualities, and both posses allegorical names and qualities. Error is by far the most disgustingly described of the two monsters. In Book 1, Canto 1, she is the first obstacle to meet the knight and his party. She represents the consequences of the night s foolhardiness and over confidence. After he strikes the beast with his blade, she wraps the knight in her huge traine. The tail is a literal foreshadowing of the tangled mess the knight gets himself into with the other evil female character, Duessa, who, figuratively, holds him in her tail of evil and deception. During the last years of the Civil War, as Union forces moved closer to victory and millions of former slaves became free, Americans began to think about how to reconcile the splintered parts of the nation and were immediately faced with a series of complex questions that required some resolutions. These measures represented a substantial departure from the system of the old South; yet few reforming politicians were not able to go as far and to have as much effect as they intended. In addition, white Southern Republicans, who outnumbered their black colleagues, gave only window dressing like support to black civil rights, preferring to court Southern Democrats through moderation on racial issues (Forner 364 411). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were intended to redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to the old plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence on cotton as a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew Johnson and early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into a land of industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts of money into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation methods. Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and swelled the ranks of the economically exploited lower classes. Railways allowed for the extension of cotton plantations into the upcountry and further west, onto lands occupied by subsistence farmers. Furthermore, new technology and the increasing efficiency ... • 44. The Doctrine Of The Divine Command Theory The Divine Command Theory dictates that An act is morally required just because it is commanded by God, and immoral just because God forbids it (Shafer Landau 65). This view is often accepted by religious people as the basis for morality; the morality of an action is determined by whether or not it is commanded by God. However, there are multiple problems presented by this line of thinking. One of the most common arguments against this theory is known as the Euthyphro Dilemma, derived from Plato s account of Socrates questioning Euthyphro about the determinant of piety, albeit in relation to the polytheistic Greek system of belief. In this account, Socrates asks if ...the gods love actions because they are pious, or are actions pious because the gods love them? This inquiry can also obviously be applied to the modern, monotheistic interpretation of the Divine Command Theory. As Euthyphro struggles to answer the question, Socrates details the premises that lead to the conclusion that the gods love actions because of their piety, and not the other way around. This refutes the Divine Command Theory, and lays out a rather logical argument that explains the flaws in accepting it. While the argument of the Euthyphro Dilemma is apparently logically sound, one potential objection is that it limits the nature of morality to two distinct options, and excludes the possibility that moral goodness is what corresponds to God s nature: God did not arbitrarily designate morality to ... • 45. Relationship Between Female Friendships And Their... To understand the value of relationships in Shakespeare s works, it is imperative to first understand the dynamic of male to male friendships and their influence on martial ties. During the Elizabethan era, male to male relations were far different than they are in our current day and time. During that period, relationships were centered heavily on the societal place an individual held. This ensured that one could only be a legitimate friend with someone if they were of the same sex and the same social class. Thus, guaranteeing equality of the relationship. Furthermore, some authors of the Elizabethan era held more qualifiers for such bonds. For example, Elyot adds the qualifier that males cannot establish their relationships on profit or pleasure if the bond is to be of value and legitimacy (344). When viewed through this strict lens, there exists a narrow division to who can be friends, especially when it comes to those of higher social and monetary standing. Due to these qualifiers and dynamics, husband and wife could not exist as friends because they were not equals due to their position in the household and their opposite genders. In the analogy of the sun and the moon, the wife must serve as the moon and reflect her spouse s light: submissive to his needs and obedient to his authority. If a husband and wife did procure a friendship, it would be unnatural according to Montaigne. He inflexibly believed women to possess too unpredictable and fiery of a demeanor for a ... Security Stability in Somalia Security Stability in Somalia Since their indirect elections on September 12, 2012, and despite the fragile regional security situation of the Horn of Africa, Somalia has continued to experience significant and sustained progress towards security stability in their country. In order for Somalia to succeed as viable and trusted state, the United States (US) as well as the International Community should not allow another security stability failure in Somalia. The US and the International Community must focus on helping to sustain Somalia s efforts against the fight of the Al Shabaab terrorist organization, help to counter piracy, and to help build capacity and capability in the Somali government and its institutions. • 50. Andrew Jackson Presidency Essay Andrew Jackson s presidency has been viewed in two different ways. He has been viewed as a hero to the common man or as a tyrant who abused his power as president. There are plenty of examples to support both sides, however when he was supporting the common man or being a tyrant, he was doing what he felt would benefit the nation as a whole. The election of 1824 was not good one for Jackson. He won the popular vote, but did not have enough electoral votes. In the end, the House of Representatives had to decide the winner out of Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and William Crawford. For example, Jackson created the Spoils System which is the practice of giving jobs to supporters, friends or relatives. This made many people mad at Jackson, however he still followed through with his plan because he thought there were some crooks in office and this would get rid of them. While the Spoils System had some failures it also had success. Jackson always had the future of America in his mind. This is shown when he did not renew the bank s charter and used his presidential vetoes to override Congress. This made many people upset, but Jackson believed that Congress did not have the authority to create the bank in the first place. He also saw the bank was mainly working for the upper classes which was unfair to the lower classes. While Jackson has done wonders for America, he was not perfect. One of his flaws would be the Indian Removal Act of 1830. While the Cherokee s march did not happen until after Jackson s presidency, this can still be traced back to Jackson not upholding the rights of Native Americans during his presidency. This Act forced the Cherokee nation to give up their lands and travel to present day Oklahoma. During this journey, the Native Americans were faced with hunger, diseases and exhaustion because of these problems around 4,000 people died. Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both a representative government and deliberative democracy the benefits are largely dependant on the context of policy making and whose interests are being considered. A representative democracy is one that is currently in place across Australia and, for the most part, the rest of the world whereby a group of representatives deliberate without unequal distributions to power on behalf of the nations citizens by denoting their beliefs, attitudes and perspectives.
