A Comparative Analysis of the Health Care System in France...
A Comparative Analysis of the Health Care System in France vs the United States
Introduction
Everyone would agree that a good health system, above all, must contribute to good health. It is
certainly not considered acceptable to protect or improve the average health of the population, if
at the same time inequality worsens or remains high because the gain accrues disproportionately
to those already enjoying better health. The responsibility of a health care system is also to reduce
inequalities to race, gender, social status and religion. While the United States is considered a
world leader in almost any category they are judged; however, the US healthcare system remains
one of the worst. This analysis will compare the US health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But, the problem presented now is reform is being done in reaction to failure. Any industry will
show that making change based on a reaction is much less effective and more costly than making
change proactively after careful consideration. And, at whose expense will reform come It will
come at the expense of the American people.
Expenditures Dutton, summarizing OECD statistics reported in 2005, claims that the French
government pays for 78.3% of France s total health care spending which accounts for 10.4% of
their GDP equating to $3048 per capita. Depressingly for the United States, health care spending
makes up a much higher 15.2% of the GDP at $5711 per capita, of which the United States
government is contributing only 44.6%. (Dutton, 2007, p.7) Health insurance in France is primarily
funded through their Social Security System. The system is made up of many different bodies and
is complicated to understand in detail. Everyone working in France must contribute to the French
Social Security system and everyone (French or not, working or not, unemployed, child or retired,
legal or illegal immigrant) is entitled to benefit from it with no exception; the system is rather
complex and considered bureaucratic. The system is threefold: Health, Family and Retirement, each
of them having different structures and financing; each of them being financially

Essay On Soul Tour
On the 23 of September 2017 around 7:30pm I went and saw Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
preform their Soul 2 Soul tour at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. I have never seen
either of the two preform live in concert only on shows like the Country Music awards until this
date. Having been a fan of country musicand growing up in a family who has always been fans of
this genera of music, I have listened to them both since and have been a huge fan of them each
since. I wanted to see them live not only being a fan of the two artists separately, but also this is
the first time they have toured together in quite a while, if not the first, so it would not only be a
once in a lifetime event but also a chance to see two of my favorite artists... Show more content on

It seemed at the start of the show they sang songs that where at the start of their music careers
and progressed through their career. They sang each song as a duet no matter if it was a Tim or
Faith song. My favorite song of the night was Tim s Stay Humble and Kind and Faith s I need
you , which was an encore song. During the encore everyone thought that the show was over, but
Tim came out into the Stadium seat and Faith walked through the floor seats and they sang. The
special effects added even more to the experience. I would go back and see the same exact show
if I had the chance. The crowd was a very respectful crowd. For me it did not seem to be the
stereotypical crowd that you would imagine at a summer concert that this was. People where up
and singing and dancing to the music and where having an overall good time listening to the
music. The crowd ranged from little kids to adults, but everyone was almost in unison with the
music, it s a weird thing to experience. From where my family where sitting we did not see that
much alcohol being drank and even less intoxicated people. With this you could really enjoy the
show without having to deal with annoying drunk fans. If you accidently bump into someone they
where respectful and apologized. You could talk to your family and Tim and Faith would encourage
you to sing along to the music by stopping mid song and you would sing without them.

The Torah Is The Most Important Text Of The Jewish Faith
Before we can compare the role of the Torah in Orthodox and Conservative Judaism, we need to
know what the Torah is and what is contains. The Torah is the most important text of the Jewish
faith. It contains the first five books of Moses in the Hebrew bible, or the Tanach. The first book,
Genesis, talks about how the world was created by god then subsequently destroyed by him
because of the wickedness within it. Exodus talks about how Moses, who was raised by the
Egyptian Pharaoh, left Egypt, only to return for the Israelites and take them back to the land God
Had ordained for them. Also in this book, Moses received the Ten Commandments from God on
Mt. Sinai. Leviticus talks about rituals, sacrifices, and atonements that are performed by... Show

The binding nature of halakhah is accepted among Conservative Jews, but they believe that the
Law should be able to change and adapt with the world, while still remaining true to Jewish values.
All of the Orthodox Jews share the key feature of the dedication to both the written and oral Torah
(Orthodox Judiaism).
Read loud in the synagogue, Shabbat Morning prayer is the Torah portion for the week. There can
be several variations within Conservative synagogues. Some are unrecognizable from Reform
Judaism, with the exception that more Hebrew is used. Other synagogues are practically
Orthodox. Men and women sitting together is the exception. Some are very traditional in the
reading of the Torah and prayers, but not in form, while others are more traditional in the form of
the service, but not in the substance contain within it. Both sects of Judaism are very accepting of
visitors, in fact, they encourage it. If a non Jew were to visit, they should dress as if they were
going to their own church with modesty and proper attire. Also, even though the synagogue may
differ from your current house of worship, you should refrain from criticizing the dГ©cor. You
would not walk into a stranger s house and criticizes there home, would you?
Many of weekly readings are not found in the Torah, but in the Oral Law which orthodox Jews are
dedicated to, as well as the Torah. Many of the laws found within the Torah would not be able to be

Magnetic Organizer Essay
Name:David Toledo Room: 401 Review of Literature Target Audience The Magnetic Organizer
will appeal to a young older audience. Both boys and girls can be unorganized, and therefore the
Magnetic Organizer is for both genders. The Magnetic Organizer can appeal to many students
who have trouble being organized in school. Leaving folders, papers, or homework somewhere
are constant struggles of students. Magnetic Organizers can be used by both amateurs and
professionals as both need to be organized in order to either become a professional, or stay one.
The disabled could probably not use this design, as the main function needed to operate my
design is to pull up the bin from the magnetic lock, and be able to grab whatever is placed inside
of the magnetic binder. This is not a very complex design, so it can be used without much
previous knowledge on how it functions. The concept of the design can be learned fairly quick.
Similar Products Many common products meet the need as the magnetic organizer. One of the
most common are named folders. This product meets the same purpose as the Magnetic Organizer,
although, is very simple. Papers can fall out if turned upside down, and can cause much stress if
done on accident. Another downside to folder is there small size can cause us to regard our
attention to larger objects, causing the possibility of forgetting the folder somewhere. Another
product is named a bin. A bin can be used to store many items and papers, although it may not

Allen Pinkerton Essay examples
Allan Pinkerton , born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1819, emigrated to Chicago. He was
America s first private eye. A man of many contradictions, he was a conservative
who strongly opposed slavery, a very cautious man who risked his life capturing criminals,
a militant labor organizer who suppressed the labor movement, and fought for women s
rights to be detectives.
During his twenty eight year career as a private detective, Allan Pinkerton and his
agency investigated over a thousand crimes. Pinkerton was involved in many dramas
of the nineteenth century. Work and the UndergroundRailroad became his life. The

War was inevitalble. Washington was filled with spies and Pinkerton
approached the President, offering to create a secret service to uncover and arrest the
spies. Lincoln would not agree.
George McClellan, an old friend of Pinkerton s, wanted him to set up a military
intelligence operation and send agents into the South. Pinkerton assigned himself
and traveled as E.J.Allen, a Southern rebel. The information he gathered helped
McClellan win several minor battles in the Ohio Valley when war broke out. In 1861,
Pinkerton received devastating news. The Northern Army of the Potomac had been
defeated at Bull Run in the first major battle of the Civil War.
Pinkerton s most challenging opponents was Rose O Neal Greenhow, the South s
most productive and effective spy. She concealed information that thwarted the
attack by General George McDowell at Manassas, outside of Washington. Pinkerton
realized Rose Greenhow, the Southern Rose, presented a great danger and had to be
arrested. A Union army captain was arrested leaving her home, carrying a vital military
map of gun ports. Pinkerton and his agents uncovered many military plans that she had
obtained to aid in the Southern war effort. She had a network of spies, including many
women. After her arrest and release from prison, she traveled abroad, raising money
for military support. Returning from Europe, her boat

Introduction
A swimming pool is one of the main factors for almost everyone in summer. Swimming pools can
be either built above or below ground and can be constructed from many different materials.
However for a pool to be safe to swim in, the water must maintain low levels of bacteria and
viruses to avoid the spread of diseases and pathogens. If a pool is not properly sanitised, then it
will become unsafe and unhygienic to use. If a pool were to be sanitised correctly, then the
water will be kept at a correct pH level. The pH levels of a pool are one of the most important
elements when looking at how to maintain a safe pool. It affects every other chemical balance in
the pool water, however on a hot summer day in Brisbane, how does the sunlight affect the chlorine
levels of the pool? How does this affect the pH levels? How does this UV light affect the
equilibriums in a pool? What systems are there in a pool? pH of the Swimming Pool
The sunlight in Brisbane is a very vital factor in pool equilibrium, as the sunlight breaks down the
chlorine in the pool. However this breakdown of chlorine is indirect. This occurs due to the fact
that different types of bacteria grow a lot quicker in heated up water. When this bacteria increases,

There are many different molecules which can act as buffers. To maintain a desired pH range of
a pool, sodium bicarbonate can be added into the pool. Apart from sodium bicarbonate, sodium
hypochlorite (NaClO) and calcium hypochlorite can also act as buffers for a pool. However
instead of keeping a steady pH, these chemicals can gradually increase the pH levels. Acids salts
(NaHSO_4) can be used to lower it. In some pools, carbon dioxide is bubbled into the pool water
to lower the pH by altering the bicarbonate equilibrium. To shift this equilibrium, sodium carbonate
is used to increase

The Trial Of The White House
On August 6, Lewinsky appeared before the grand jury to begin her testimony, and on August 17
President Clinton testified. Contrary to his testimony in the Paula Jones sexual harassment case,
President Clinton acknowledged to prosecutors from the office of the independent counsel that
he had had an extramarital affair with Ms. Lewinsky. In four hours of closed door testimony,
conducted in the Map Room of the White House, Clinton spoke live via closed circuit television
to a grand jury in a nearby federal courthouse. He was the first sitting president ever to testify
before a grand jury investigating his conduct. That evening, President Clinton also gave a four
minute televised address to the nation in which he admitted he had engaged in an inappropriate
relationship with Lewinsky. In the brief speech, which was wrought with legalisms, the word sex
was never spoken, and the word regret was used only in reference to his admission that he misled
the public and his family. Five weeks later, on February 12, the Senate voted on whether to
remove Clinton from office. The president was acquitted on both articles of impeachment. The
prosecution needed a two thirds majority to convict but failed to achieve even a bare majority.
Rejecting the first charge of perjury, 45 Democrats and 10 Republicans voted not guilty, and on the
charge of obstruction of justice the Senate was split 50 50. After the trial concluded, President
Clinton said he was profoundly sorry for the burden

The Books Of 1 And 2 Kings
This paper is an analysis of the books of 1 and 2 Kings. It will examine their authorship,
structure, flow, and themes. In addition, it will compare their content to the writings of 1 2
Chronicles, Isaiah, and extra biblical writers who speak of the same events. Lastly, it will examine
the author s place in history as a historian and theologian. AUTHORSHIP Since writer or writers of
Kings did not include their name on the document, their identity is unknown. The rabbis in the
Midrash Baba Bathra 15a attributed the authorship to the prophet Jeremiah on the basis that 2
Kings 24:18 25:30 was identical to Jeremiah 52. Traditionally, Christian scholars accepted this
explanation without much qualm. However, in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth
century, scholars took the view that someone edited Kings from already existing works. Since the
theme of following the Law of Moses recorded in the book of Deuteronomy runs throughout
Genesis 2 Kings, most scholars title the person or persons who did the writing and editing of
these books the Deuteronomist. This paper will refer to the writer of 1 2 Kings as the
Deuteronomist in keeping with scholastic tradition. Some scholars believe the Deuteronomist
wrote during or after the Babylonian exile. A writing of the end of 2 Kings during the beginning
of the exile is plausible but not later than the start of the exile. A comparison of 1 2 Kings and
Chronicles proves this theory. Chronicles was written after the

The 18th Century And Colonial America
The 18th Century in colonial America was a time of change, both within the continent of North
America and from the Old World that was Europe. Ever since the establishment of some of the first
colonies, colonists viewed themselves as such: colonists. However, as the 17th Century passes into
the 18th, and as the new century went on, colonists viewed themselves as something else:
Americans. These Americans developed new beliefs that alienated themselves from their fellow
Europeans, and as war escalated between France and Great Britain, this feeling was reaffirmed
when these Americans came together to defend their colonies. Nonetheless, this sense of unity and
self identity would not stop after the conclusion of the Seven Year s War, but it

These changes in basic language between the people of England shows that Americans in general
were changing from their origins as they adapted to America, and these developments made the
colonists develop a sense of difference and identity. Major reasons for those to make the journey to
the New World was for them to make a fresh start and gain material wealth through land, an option
not available for those in Europe. North America was seen as a goldmine for making vast fortunes,
and it attracted so many to its shores. Everyone saw this as an equal chance to make a living, for
North America and the colonies promoted a sense of egalitarian and individualistic values in
emigrating Europeans. Edmund Burke, an English Whig, was able to recognize these changing
traits and values in colonists. In a desperate expression to halt the Stamp Act, he said to
Parliament Is there a single Trait of Resemblance between those few Towns, and a great and
growing people spread over a vast quarter of the globe. This politician was able to recognize that
Americans in general were vastly different from Englishmen, for this can be contributed to their
new views of equality and an individual being able to change their life for the better (Document B).
Another thing that colonists Americanized was their government. Although their assemblies and
governors could be seen as nearly exact replicas of the English, the

The 28,000 hectares of original farmland that made up the retreat and backed onto the South Island
s Mount Cook National Park were converted into a big game reserve. All merino sheep on the
land were sold, and deer, elk, chamois, and wapiti were brought in and released. This was a
carefully considered plan. Olde Olthof, the former conservationist, believed that financially and
environmentally this was the correct decision. Not only do tourists, each staying for one week and
taking part in safari shooting, inject as much cash into the business as the station s annual wool clip
used to fetch, but the game does less harm to the environment than sheep. Cattle, however, once
part of the original station, were left to graze on lower reverflat areas.
For those high flying customers seeking less bloodthirsty leisure activities, Lilybank developed
other product line extensions. Horse trekking, golfing on a nearby rural course (with no need for
hordes of security forces), world class photographic opportunities, helicopter trips around nearby
Lake Tekapo, nature walks, and other such activities formed part of the exclusive package.
While still in the early stages of operation, this retreat has already attracted a steady stream of
visitors. To date the manager has relied solely on positive word of mouth, publicity, and public

Causes Of Strokes
Each year more than 795,000 Americans have a stroke. Strokes are the fifth leading cause of
death for Americans but the risk of having a stroke varies with race and ethnicity. African
Americans are more likely to die because the risk of having a first stroke is nearly twice as high for
African Americans. Hispanics risk for a strokeis between whites and blacks. Age also has an impact
on strokes as well. A risk of a stroke increases with age, strokes can and will occur at any age. But
what causes people to have strokes? What exactly causes a stroke? A stroke occurs when blood
supply to the brain is reduced. This deprives the brain of oxygen and the nutrients, which causes
brain cells to die. It can also be caused by a blocked arteryor the leaking of a blood vessel.
Mayoclinic.org says that about 85% of strokes are ischemic strokes. They also said that ischemic
strokes occur when the arteries to the brain become narrowed, causing severely reduced blood flow.

Jamaica Research Paper
I chose Jamaican Jews because there are few Jews living in Jamaica today but hundreds of years
ago their were many Jews living there and many of Jews that live in Canada today, have ancestors
leading back to Jamaica. Today the estimated total population of Jews living in Jamaica is between
200 424,000. This essay will discuss the pull factors that influenced Jewish immigration to Jamaica,
how they organized and the push factors that caused them to leave from the time the first Jewscame
to Jamaica in 1494 1655 until today.
Before their were any Jews in Jamaica they were living all around the world in countries like

One main push factor is that the jewish community in jamaica was never big. This is good and
bad for a lot of reasons: Having a small jewish community meant that everyone would be
generally close with one another similar to a small, closely knit town. A small Jewish community
also meant that if you were looking to marry jewish that you wouldn t have as many options as
you would in a bigger jewish community. Another push factor is that when the jews first arrived in
jamaica they had to conceal their identity and refer to themselves as Portuguese or Spanish and had
to practice their religion secretly before the british conquest of the island in 1655 but after that
were allowed to practice judaism openly. This was also vital to the Jews because that s exactly
what they were fleeing from in their old countries. How could someone enjoy life if the things
they loved to do had to be done in secrecy or else they would be prosecuted, that s exactly what
the jews were trying to find; a country that would allow them to be who they are. The last minor
push factor was that their weren t many shuls and this was a problem because depending on where
you lived it could be hard to get to one. This was later fixed when the Jewish population increased

One topic that went quite unexplored during the Socratic Seminars was how we all individually
incorporated quotes seamlessly into our essays. As a result, I would like point out that there are
multiple ways to seamlessly fit quotes into sentences, such as informing the reader about how the
character feels about the event, what exactly the character is talking about, and beginning the
sentence containing the quote with paraphrasing. For example, I included as an example in my

Neutrality In My Brother Sam Is Dead
The American Revolution was a war of principles fought by Loyalists and Patriots. However,
Loyalists believed in neutrality, peace, and no brutality or treason. Therefore, Patriots believed
in freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, and the right to break away from the British
government. In the novel My Brother Sam is Dead created by James Lincoln Collier and
Christopher Collier, a family disputes over which side is right. James and Christopher Collier
use the ironies of Life, Jerry, and Sam s death to induce Tim s decision of neutrality. Firstly, Life
s death contributes to Tim s reasons to be neutral. For an instance, Tim finds out that father was
taken by cowboys on the way back from Verplanks Point. In June of that year, 1777, we found
out that father was dead. ...it wasn t a Rebel prison, ship it was a British one (164). Tim expects
father would die because the cowboys had already attacked him for cattle and he was a Loyalist.
Tim discovers that loyalty is valued in the British side. He thinks that why should he be loyal to a
side that s dishonest. Tim chooses neutrality because the Loyalists are deceptive, brutal, and aren t
true to their word. Since Tim does not want to be on a side with a bunch of hypocrites, he becomes

For an example, Sam is a scapegoat and is publicly executed for stealing his own cattle. Which is
a very stupid reason to be executed. He went on jerking with flames on his chest until another
soldier shot him again, then he stopped jerking (208). Tim expects that Sam will die, but in a
glorious heroic manner after he single handedly vanquished the British army. Tim however does
not expect Sam to die as a cattle thief and realizes the unjust and brutal ways of the war. Tim
becomes neutral because Tim does not want to support a side that killed his brother for no valid

Energy Vs. Beauty in Coal Mining Essay
Every day in the United States people turn on a light, use the oven, and watch television. The
energy needed to do these trivial everyday tasks is often taken for granted, yet it is greatly required
at all times. A small percentage of this energy is provided by the burning of coal to produce power.
The removal of coalfor energy has been a long thought out process since the early 1960 s
(Holzman). The removal of coal up until around the 1990 s was all done underground, removing
the coal by using pick axes, mules, and rail cars. During the early and late 1990 s, the extraction of
coal was modernized to mountain top removal (Holzman). Mountain top removal is the process of

Mountain top removal often occurs in states such as West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and
Virginia. These states are rich in coal deposits and have many areas where mining may occur. Quite
often, coal companies use huge deposits of coal to make money, but mining these areas have been
damaging to the Appalachian region for decades. Environmental issues have become apparent with
massive flooding, rock slides, water contamination, and sludge impoundment (Community). All of
these have become major issues within communities among the eastern region, because they may
cause a community or environment to lose its significance.
Flooding is caused by the removal of trees and vegetation of an area on a steep grade mountain.
Hence, when this particular area has rainfall, the water has nowhere to go, thus causing a flash
flood. Blasting of a mountain can also cause rock falls to occur. Many strip mining sites are
located near a town or neighborhood, often endangering residents or homes to be struck by
boulders or large amounts of fly rock. Injuries can also be an issue with fly rock. Boulders have
been known to come crashing into houses and causing serious injury and even death. These massive
boulders are pieces that have been blown off by the blasting at the tops of the mountain. Water
contamination takes place around mountain top removal sites and causes runoff that feeds

Stephen King Why We Crave Horror Analysis
As a child my mom told me about her ghost story it made me not want to think or watch scary
movies. Just having the thought of knowing that something we can t see could be watching me
anywhere and everywhere gives us the chills. The fact when we think about it we crave to see
horror films. Why is it that people feel normal when we watch scary movies? According to
Stephen King s Why We Crave Horror says that we aren t normal and the things we feel towards
movies are part of the Human Condition which means like to have a dark side or sadness, mad,
happy etc. The fact that Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly (
Morticia quote). Stephen King rightly claims that us as humans crave horror to face our fears,
get over the scary things, and to get the feeling of our adrenaline rush. Humans now and maybe
back then do crave horror to face their fears. In Stephen King s story Why We Crave Horror he
says Our emotions and our fears form their own body (King Why We Crave 2). What he is
stating towards us is that fear makes us a human. As therefore he also said we are mentally ill
and for us to be normal we crave the need to face our fears and see horror. Why is it that we yet
don t just want to watch these horror, we make ourselves put them on? In Stephen King s story
Why We Crave Horror he says We are the daring nightmare (King Why We Crave 1). King is
basically saying we dare ourselves to watch the horror movie because he knows and

When the reform act emerged the working classes where dissatisfied as the act which promised so
much delivered very little.
The act did not enfranchise the working classes and the attitude of the Whig government in power
offered little hope to the working classes of them achieving the right to vote, this split the working
class and set the working class against the government.
Hostility between the working classes and the government intensified further with the
implementation of the poor law in 1832. The aim of the poor law was to reduce the burden of costs
to the ratepayers, remove inefficiency and end the giving of relief to those
in their own homes and insist that they enter the workhouse if in need of help or support. This
new act led to fear and suspicion as the workingman was being punished by the upper class as well
as a distinction between the `deserving and `undeserving poor. They saw this as being punished for
being poor.
The Poor Law Amendment act Passed Stated That:
No able bodied person was to receive money or other help from the Poor Law authorities except in a
workhouse;
Conditions in workhouses were to be made very harsh to discourage people from wanting to
receive help;
Workhouses were to be built in every parish or, if parishes were too small, in unions of parishes;
Ratepayers in each parish or union had to elect a Board of Guardians to supervise the workhouse,

One of the best known philanthropists was the American industrialist Andrew Carnegie, who

looked upon as an action of Andrew Carnegie in a less radical form.
Washington differed from both Carnegie and Debs but yet still held one similar aspect that ties him
with them. On September 18, 1895, in Atlanta, Georgia, Washington made his famous compromise
speech. In this address he urged blacks to accept their inferior social position for the present and to
strive to raise themselves through vocational training and economic self reliance. This attitude of
able to achieve economically through hard work contrasts the idea of both Carnegie and Debs.
Carnegie believed in predestined wealth. However Washington s attitude was if one works hard, one
can become rich. It also contrasts Debs attitude because Debs believed in the redistribution of
wealth. However despite theses differences there is one thing that ties them together: the
redistribution of wealth. Washington founded

The Cardiovascular System From The National Nutrition Of...
This paper will examine the possible consequences on the cardiovascular system from the national
nutrition of Kazakhstan. I choose this topic for research since I have the personal interest in the
food I eat and I am contemplating the disciplines in medicine, particularly cardiology or cardio
surgery. So, choosing this topic might enhance my knowledge in these areas that can help me to
stand out from other candidates. Moreover, during my work experience in a cardiologycenter, I had
many questions but they still have not answered yet, hence doing this project I am planning to find
the answers for them. My first and the main question was the reason the Kazakh nation has
tremendous problems with the hearthealth. Another one was why most of the patients lying in the
clinic are males who are in age and overweight. These questions seem to be obvious but it was
before I went to do A level and I can say that I knew nothing about the heart. Although, now I have
broad knowledge about this topic I want to extend them and imply it to my culture and traditions.
Therefore, I proposed a hypothesis Kazakh national food has a deleterious effect on the
cardiovascular systemand it is the major cause of death from the cardiovascular diseases . So, the
purpose of this research is to confirm or refute this hypothesis and try to identify to what extent
traditional meals influence the development of cardiovascular diseases.
The heart and circulatory system make up the cardiovascular system.

The Role Of Sports In Society
Sports is language, tradition, and community. From the late nineteenth century to present day,
college and professional sports have helped build communities and help mold the American identity
on the bare ground level. These pastimes make society peaceful, socially cohesive, and more equal.
Throughout American history, sports have played a role in economic development, having
sociological impacts in different regions and have also influenced politics.
Professional and amateur sports have built regional fandoms across North America. The fans of
all ethnicities and races come together and unite to support their team whether its Football
Sunday or NBA Saturday . Sports enhance our understanding of the gender roles and socio
economic issues that help frame identity in every community (What Is the Role of Sports in
Society?). More than three fifths of adults in the general population are involved in sports related
activities. Additionally, one quarter are actively engaged in a sport as participants, parents of
children in a sport, coaches, or volunteers (Boxill et al 10). One s favored team provides a link to
overall social structure and a feel of togetherness This creates a network of relationships throughout
a community that connects one person to another through sports. Engagement rates of sports are
highest among men and high income households(Boxill et al 10). As reflected in America s
society, men are the dominant group in sports as they are most likely the coaches of

Chartres Cathedral Analysis
Chartres Cathedral
Chartres Cathedral is one of the most significant achievements of all the historical architecture.
Additionally, it is entirely preserved with its original details. The unique features of the cathedral
are intact, and thus when one visits the place, he or she is likely to encounter the authentic
architecture work as it was done many years ago. Chartres Cathedral symbolizes an atmosphere of
awe and holiness (Katzenellenbogen, 2). As such, it was built for religious purposes. However, it
attracts the nonbelievers as well. As a holy building, it has many glass windows to light the
building. Due to its height, a double flying buttresses is used to support the high nave. The
cathedral was the first building in history that used buttresses since it was considered as necessary
for the peoples culture and as a sign of authority. It was built to reflect a symbol of power since the
religious leaders engaged in politics too. The cathedral has many statuses that represent the Biblical
aspects such as Elijah, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Jeremiah, and Simeon (Katzenellenbogen, 9). The
standings portray the Christian faith that was used by the architectures while building the cathedral.
The interior floor stands thirty six meters high and is one hundred and twenty eight meters wide.
The sizes show how vital it is and it can host many peoples who visit for religious functions.

Lennie s Savior
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, tells the story of Lennie Small and George Milton, who are
two migrant ranch workers, moved from farm to farm in California trying to find new jobs. This
story took place in the United States during the Great Depression. In this essay, I argue that George
should ve shot Lennie because Curley was about to do ten times worse to the poor fella, he got
the better end of the deal. I can still tend the rabbits, Goerge? I didn t mean no harm, George,
quoted from Lennie. That just shows how innocent he really is, which is another reason that
George killing Lennie was really a saving of torture for the guy. All he cared about was tending
those rabbits and he deserved a peaceful death! George was right to kill Lennie, his intentions were

As well as targeting Islam, the Soviet Union also feared the influence of the Turkic languages

Central Asia multiple times. Although the popular script of the region was Arabic, it was changed
to Latin in 1928 to prevent influence from Arabic speaking countries, and was changed again in
1940 to Cyrillic in order to prevent influence from Europe, especially Germany, during World War

Allaphor To God And The Bible In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, there are several references to God and the bible, specifically the
book of Genesis. Shelley uses allusion to point to the idea of the parallels between Victor and the
Monster and the story of Adam and Eve. These allusions are not only comparisons of Victor to God
and the Monster to Adam but also Victor to Adam.
Driven by his mother s own death, Victor looked to science for a way to combat death and illness
for his own personal benefit and glory. By giving his creation life, he manages to attain the
knowledge and status similar to that of God. The creation of this monster, like Prometheus stealing
of fire, leads to Victor s punishment. His life becomes one of loneliness and isolation, brought upon
him by the creation of his creature and his attempt to be God. His carelessness and inability to fully
understand the complications with his experiment contributed to his downfall and ultimately leads
to a diversion in this comparison.
Bodies
Victor and the creation of his monster to God and the creation of Adam, I feel as though another
implication could be made. Victor Frankenstein could be seen as Adam. In Genesis God says to
Adam, But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that
thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2). The creation of the monster sets off a series of
events ultimately ending in the death of Victor s family, leaving him to die alone in isolation. The

Discrimination Lives Within Everyone Essay
Racial discrimination has affected the world in many ways. Historically in the United States there
have always been racial issues between the African Americans and white Americans. Most African
Americans were sidelined in all areas of economic, political and social growth. Whites were seen to
be more superior, which led to segregation of housing, schools, restaurants, hotels, and
transportation. Equally concerning, are the instances of religious discrimination that still occur in
this country. Even though we have made important advances in race relations, we still face serious
racial and religious discrimination in the United States. During the 1950s until the mid 1970s
African Americans fought for their rights to have equality in... Show more content on

One of the most famous historical marches was the march in Birmingham, Alabama. This is
where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. visited his associated organization and discussed the a
nonviolent movement through the streets of Birmingham. King was arrested for violating a state
policy of assembling a protest and spent time in solitary confinement. During King s time alone
he wrote a letter to the clergymen of Alabama stating that he was wrongfully arrested and that he
had good reason for being in Birmingham. King stated that he was the president of the SCLC
organization, and he was invited to Birmingham because he had ties there in Birmingham (King
222). Another form of discrimination that plagues us today is reverse discrimination. Reverse
discrimination is a controversial term referring to discrimination against members of a dominant
or majority group, including the city, state, or country in favor of a minority or historically
disadvantaged group. Martha Gellhorn author of White into Black told her story dealing with
racial discrimination during the 1950s in Haiti. Martha Gellhorn was a white author who went to

she was a minority and did not fit in because she was an outsider. Gellhorn quoted at the end of her

Meadow Descriptive Writing
A crisp breeze bends, splits, and shifts the life around me as I slowly turn, taking in the wide,
open meadow. I am in a basin on a picturesque October morning under a soft, blue sky. The
mountain is remarkably bold, beautiful, yet, peaceful and right. Golden is the meadow with the
yellow leaves swaying on the branches casting their color above me and fallen leaves still
vibrant; light swirls and shines above and below. Some branches are bare as fall strips away
summer. This meadow situated in the basin of the San Francisco Peaks; a meadow with hay like
grass drying from these bracing waves of winds gives me goosebumps as I shiver my writing slants
downwards and then juts up. There is an underlying rattling from this grass all bending to the East
from these gusts. Pineneedles from the Ponderosas are sprinkled on the ground and crunch under
each step I take crunch, then scatter. I break apart these pine needles and other debris, even some
dry leaves from the aspens above.
A meadow with ponderosas, an incline with aspens, all situated on this vast mountain. The wind
touches all within its long reach from way up in the cloudless sky to the lowest it can extend,
picking up the dirt and blowing it back in my eyes as I write this under a swaying tree. Left then
right, and back again with each breeze it comes in waves: calm, a slight tickle as it brushes against
me, then slam, and calm again. The breeze sifts through the sand each particle blends into the next.

Lolita Research Paper
There is a town in Texas called Lolita; and in 1959, its people were enraged and embattled by the
publication of Lolita , by Vladimir Nabokov. The name of their town now connoted rape, not
patriotism, as it was originally named after a patriot s daughter. But the people of this town
decided to wait it out, as they figured the book s popularity would have to lose steam eventually
(Wells). This, of course, is taking a lot longer than anyone expected. The book Lolita, widely
considered a classic and one of the best of the 20th century, has transformed into a part of pop
culture, though the book itself looses some of its meaning in doing so.
Today, the name Lolita is a noun, one that denotes youthful desirability. The noun Lolita is
defined as a sexually precocious young girl (Merriam Webster). Some contemporary examples of
Lolitas are Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Lana Del Ray; all of whom have tried to iconize a childish

youth into their look. Pop singer Lana Delray recently came out with a song called Lolita , in

that she chose. The fact that Humbert would even attempt to coerce her to give it up and be with

first world countries, so it is not very uncommon today to see a young child playing a video game
they really should not be. Video games are rated eC for early childhood, E for everyone, E +10
for everyone 10 and older, T for Teen, M for Mature, and Ao for Adult only. These ratings are to

As Artie wrote it in the book, in 1968 my mother killed herself ... she left no note! , shows
absence of a note, which might have explained why she killed herself, made not only Artie, but
also Vladek were put into the misery. Vladek and Artie could not support each other in the crucial
moment. Comic expresses the Artie s anger at Anja and his pain left to dealt alone with the
overwhelming feeling of losing mother.
Another form of guilt I see is from the Vladek toward Anja. In 1944, he and Anja left Srodula
and moved to Sosnowiec. After they left Srodula, all their hiding places were temporary and
unreliable. Vladek realized if Germany occupies the country there is nothing left for him and
Anja in Poland and there will be no chance for them to live without fear. so Vladek tells Mrs.
Kawka he would do anything to get out of Poland and Mrs. Kawka tells him about smugglers,
taking people to Hungary. But as the comic expresses she was clearly involved. However, Vladek
so eager to get to Hungary, he could not see that. Meeting with the smugglers, he meets Mr.
Mandelbaum, an Spiegelmans who owned a sweets shop once along with his wife, and his nephew,
Abraham. Vladek is not sure whether to trust the smugglers so, Abraham volunteers to go with the
smugglers first, then to write if everything is safe.
Anja, on the other hand felt leaving is too dangerous and insists she will never go with the
smugglers to Hungary. But Vladek refuses to change his mind. He

Cord Blood Research Paper
Cord Blood Banking is now a huge epidemic nationally. What was once considered to be medical
waste is now what is considered a medical breakthrough. Cord blood is stored in two types of
banks, both having their benefits and negative aspects. There are many benefits and positive aspects
that accompany the banking cord blood. Many of these benefits include but are not limited to the
treatment of many life threatening diseases and disorders such as cerebral palsy and childhood
cancer such as leukemia. With positives benefits there also come negative aspects. Many of these
include who can receive the transplant, the cost of cord blood, the simple fact that the child who
the blood came from may never be able to receive that cord blood, and also... Show more content on

Researchers have discovered that it is actually harder for adults to be treated with cord blood
than bone marrow. Children usually receive one unit of cord blood because their small bodies
only need a small amount. Adults however need more than the one unit of blood that children
receive because their bodies are so much bigger. According to eurostemcells.org there are
serious complications of receiveing to few of stem cells. A stem cell transplant containing not
enough stem cells may fail or could lead to slow creation of new blood in the body. Doctors
have found that if they use two units of cord blood, the transplant will work. When the cord
blood is being collected, each newborn only can provide one unit of blood, so when someone
needs to receive more than one unit, doctors have to find an almost identical match. There are
also many controversies on whether or not cord blood should be collected and banked. Many
children s cord blood can t be used by the child who donated it. The cord blood may be
contaminated with cells that made that child sick. According to Parent s Magazine Both the
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Academy of
Pediatrics (AAP) issued statements in the late 1990s opposing the use of for profit banks and
criticizing their marketing tactics. Instead, they recommended that parents donate cord blood to
public banks, which make it available for free to anyone who

Essay Nickel and Dimed Analysis
Ed Fleming Rhetorical Analysis Paper English 102 Thurs Hybrid In Barbara Ehrenreich s book
Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by In America we read about a middle aged journalist
undertaking a social experiment of the greatest magnitude. The journalist is Ehrenreich herself and
the experiment was to find out how a woman, recently removed from welfare, due to policy
reform, would make it on a six or seven dollar an hour wage. The experiment itself started out as
just a question in the middle of lunch with one of Ehrenreich s editors, it soon turned into a job
assignment. Before starting the experiment, Ehrenreich laid out some ground rules for her to
follow during the duration of the assignment. First she could never use... Show more content on

High turnover is something that goes hand in hand with low wage jobs, so companies are
always looking for a workers replacement. Finally Ehrenreich is able to secure employment at a
place she give the pseudonym, Hearthside. To help protect identies of companies and people she
actually worked for and with, Ehrenreich decides to use fake names to achieve anonymity.
Ehrenreich starts out at 2.43 an hour plus tips. One of the first things Ehrenreich notices is that
the people around her are only working hard enough to get by. Because the managers will yell at
anybody who is done with their work, and not doing something new, the workers seem to be happy
with just working at a slow pace, doing just one job. Because the only reward for finishing early is
being yelled at by a manager, that apparently spends his day doing nothing, there is no real bonus to
go the extra mile. Due to this negative reinforcement, Ehrenreich notes that the restaurant is almost
moving in counterproductive mode. With less being worked on, less is being accomplished,
attributing to the overall sad appearance and low morale of the restaurant and its employees. The
next problem Ehrenreich encounters is the constant berating handed out by her supervisor Stu .
Ehrenreich observes that due to this constant barrage of insults and degradations, workers are
forced to feel like they are subhuman. Weekly the managers announce

Neo Dalitism In Ramayana
In the Ramayana, Sambhuka, a Sudra who was doing penance was dealt with death penalty by
Lord Rama on the advice of his political council comprising the learned scholars and rishis like
Vishvamitra and Vashishtha. In The Mahabarata even a great rishi Uttanga emitted bad smell of
untouchability when he refused to drink water from a Nishad the disguised Indra, saying that he
would prefer to die than accept water from an untouchable. Eklavya was debarred from the art of
archery by the great guru Drona and he had to pay a heavy price for being a low caste. (Bir Singh

Neo Dalitism is to deconstruct the false images of God, Rebirth, Soul, Holy Books, teachings
Separatism, Fate and Heaven created by these literatures. The next step is to construct and try to

close as possible). While Dalitism is to clear the ground Neo Dalitism is to reconstruct the ignored
or lost literature.
As after a long illness a patient has to be given not only medicine to cure the disease but must be
given extra nourishment to bring into normal state. While Dalitism is only curing, Neo Dalitism is
diagnosing and curing (deconstruction) the malady and giving extra nourishment (discovering and

Rights Of A Fetus Essay
Rights of a Fetus Essay Every life is valuable, whether the life is growing inside of the womb or
outside of the womb. There are many controversies regarding the subject of the rights of a fetus.
Some believe that because the fetus it not yet in this world and has not yet taken its first breath, it
has no rights. Others believe that right at conception, the fetushas human rights. I believe that God
made all of us unique individuals right at fertilization and even as a tiny new form of life, we were
all human beings which possess human rights. A fetus is its own being and should have its own
human rights.
Fetus Rights through Gestation The argument still stands today whether a fetus is its own person in
the womb or if it s just an attachment of the mother. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the germinal period which includes the creation of the fertilized egg, called a zygote, cell
division, and the attachment of the zygote to the uterine wall (Santrock, J., 2008). To me, I believe
that the germinal period is the only prenatal stage that you would not completely consider the fetus
as a human being because, though it is a living organism, it shows no indication of being a human.
Once in the embryonic period and fetal period, I believe the fetus should have complete human
rights. The embryonic stage is the stage when the embryo begins to develop organs which are the
first characteristics of a human being. This is why I would consider the embryo to be a human and
having human rights from two weeks till birth. According to the law (in most states), it is said that
women may not have an abortion after twenty three weeks and at twenty three weeks a child is
able to live outside of the womb. I have learned this because my, now 3 year old niece, was born
at twenty three weeks and is a perfectly healthy child today with no problems. This means that a
fetus can be aborted when viable to live outside of the womb. Regrettably, though, the seeming
clarity of the viability rule

Sister Of St Joseph Challenges
The Sisters of St Joseph is an Australian Catholic organisation. It was founded in Penola, South
Australia in 1866 by Mary MacKillop and Reverend Julian E Tenison Woods. There are about
886 sisters living and ministering throughout Australia, New Zealand, East Timor, Ireland, Brazil,
Scotland and Peru. The Sisters of St Joseph participate in God s mission by serving across a wide
range of ministries, to meet needs in a variety of ways. Josephites seek to never see a need without
doing something about it .
The Josephites faced a few challenges along the way of becoming a successful organisation. Early
on, the Sisters faced challenges like people not thinking they were religious, and not being able to
support themselves properly. Alongside this, there was a growing dislike for Fr Wood s
management of schools. Another challenge was when Mary MacKillop was excommunicated in
1871.
The Sisters of St Joseph have made many contributions to the Catholic Church, some of which
include providing education for the poor, caring for children and the elderly, and providing pastoral
support. They have also set up spirituality centres where they can provide support and opportunities

by ministering in rural areas, giving everyone a chance to learn about God. They become an

aged care services provide emotional, physical, and spiritual support to the frail aged. They also

counselling and facilitating support programs, it shows their love and support for everyone and

Macbeth Minor Characters
William Shakespeare is known for his amazing use of minor characters to display themes and be
assets to whatever the major character is going through. In the process, Shakespeare generates
major interest from the readers for these minor characters. One may ask, why do I feel so
strongly for these characters? The answer cannot be any clearer; it is because they are presented
in a major manner even though they are minor and in the short amount of time they are seen in
the play, they make themselves stick to the readers. A prime example of this rare capability is
presented in Shakespeare s Macbeth. In this tragedy, Macduff s family is killed in cold blood. But

Lady Macduff s first words are both a question and an allegation. She asks What had he done to
make him fly the land. (IV.ii.1) This allows one to believe that she thinks the only way Macduff
would leave is if he did something wrong. Lady Macduff then accuses Macduff of not loving
him. The anger, hurt, and feelings of betrayal behind the words of Lady Macduff immediately
makes the audience enamored and captivated by her presence and yearn for her to find out the
truth; that Macduff is not a traitor, but a hero, trying to save the face of the crown. In the
situation of Macduff s son, he s confused as to whether his father is a traitor or not and he denies
his father s death twice during this scene. Once when his mother insists and a second time,
shouting to the second murderer Thou liest though shag haired villain! (IV.ii.79) This
demonstrates Macbeth s son loyalty for his father, even he is confused as to what a traitor is and
unsure if his father is alive or dead. Macduff s son s unwavering loyalty for his father warms the
heart of those reading and allows them to feel horror at hid death commanded by no other than the

Atomic waste is to be saved in profound geographical stockpiling locales; it doesn t enter the

fossil fuel waste is as gas that goes up the smokestack. We don t see it, however it is not without

other air contamination. Safe: Atomic force is protected, as demonstrated by the record of a

of the reactor vessel. The radioactivity discharged was completely limited to the strengthened solid
control structure, the water/air proof storehouse like building which houses the reactor it was
intended for that reason. The little measure of radioactivity which got away was entirely harmless.
Thus, nobody at TMI was genuinely lighted nor did anybody kick the bucket. Actually, Three Mile

Comcast Case Study
Introduction Comcast is the largest cable television company in the world, by revenue. It is also
the largest internet provider, as well as the second largest home phone service, and third largest
pay tv company. This is a well established company, and is still growing and attempting to acquire
other different companies to solidify its empire. Comcast has a renowned product that is nearly
undisputed. The problem that has been brought to life a few years ago with Comcast, is the way
they go about their customer service. The problem was given light when a customer of the
company called Comcast and asked to relinquish their services. The employee taking this phone
call agreed he could do this, but then he prodded at the customer for eight minutes trying to
figure out why he didn t want Comcast s great services. The customer did not want to disclose
this information and kept exclaiming he just wanted to cancel his subscription. The employee
argued with him for way too long, offering deals, giving company comparisons to competitors,
everything. The employee finally agreed to cancel the service for the customer, and the called
ended. Background Comcast, being the colossal organization that it is, is ultimately funded by
its customers. Therefore, if they begin to start losing customers, they begin to start losing
profits. The phone call I explained earlier, was it really the employee s fault? Comcast, as well as
many other organizations, often set goals for its employees that are unrealistic. In the article,
How Comcast Sets Its Customer Service Reps Up to Fail, Gretchen Gavett writes about an
interview she had with professor and senior associate dean at the Harvard Business School,
Frances Frei. Frei says, Auto dealers are the most notorious, that if you give us a 5 it s a pass, if
you give us a 4, it is a fail (Gavett). In many industries, corporate and management level people
stigmatize not being perfect to a discriminating degree. Wells Fargo, another massive company, yet
on the opposite side of the spectrum in terms of industries. They are bank. In this case, management
were basically forcing tellers to press customers to open different kinds of accounts. Often, the
customer did not want to. But, employees

Depression And Its Effects On Children
Depression in Adolescents The mind is full of emotions, knowledge, memories, and much more.
The adolescent stage is very complex where a child is attacked with different emotions and
events where they begin to feel excluded from society. In this stage, teens start using their mind
for moral behavior and decision making. This is when children, begin puberty and start an
irregular hormonal stage. As physical characteristics change in a teen s body also does the
perception of themselves start to develop in their mind. For example, when teenagers are not
acknowledged by their peers they begin to exclude themselves from the outside world.
Additionally, if the teen feels out of place they start isolating themselves from society and start a
long journey of depressive thoughts. Depression is a mood disorder that causes an individual to
feel sad and isolated. Depression is a mental disorder that controls the ability to feel content. There
may be many reasons why depressive thoughts may occur. An article by Rick Ingram, particularly
displays that the vulnerability work in parent s psychopathology may be a high risk factor for their
child s depression. This theory can be dated back to different research on psychopathology like

child psychopathology. The data from the research showed that there was higher risk of depression
with children that have mothers dealing with depression. The

Decision support systems assist managers who must make decisions that are not highly structured,
often called unstructured or semi structured decisions. A decision is considered unstructured if
there are no clear procedures for making the decision and if not all the factors to be considered in
the decision can be readily identified in advance. Judgement of the manager plays a vital role in
decision making where the problem is not structured. The decision support system supports, but
does not replace, judgement of manager.
4. Office Automation Systems
Office automation systems are among the newest and most rapidly expanding computer based
information systems. They are being developed with the hopes and expectations that they will
increase the efficiency and productivity of office workers typists, secretaries, administrative
assistants, staff professionals, managers and the like. Many organisations have taken the First step
toward automating their offices. Often this step involves the use of word processing equipment to
facilitate the typing, storing, revising and printing of textual materials. Another development is a
computer based communications system such as electronic mail which allows people to
communicate in an electronic mode through computer terminals. An office automation system can
be described as a multi function, integrated computer based system that allows many office

One American Apparel Advertising
Why is it that when we flip through a magazine or when the TV screen changes to an
advertisement do we not question the provocative, sexualized images that seem to consistently be
paired with promoting a product? Why has this become the image society associates with beauty?
Young women, and especially women with disabilities, encounter great stress and pressure to look,
act, and dress a specific way based on sexualized images in which they are subject to through the

Increasingly, young women are presented not as passive sex objects, but as active, desiring
sexual subjects, who seem to participate enthusiastically in practices and forms of self
presentation (Gill 3). This idea that women are empowered, desiring sexual subjects, who openly
play with their sexual power can be daunting to young women who do not feel comfortable acting
in such a way. Viewing advertisements that convene such a message could pressure women to
unwillingly present themselves in a sexual manner. However, if women dress too proactively and
act too promiscuously they are labelled as sluts . Society also promotes, based on midriff advertising
, that a women s worth is based on her body. The body is portrayed in advertising and in many
other parts of the media as the primary source of women s capital (Gill 5). Young women feel
pressure to alter and add to their bodies so they can fit the ideal body and beauty standards that are
prescribed by advertisements. However, these ideal women that are featured in advertisements are
not as perfect as they seem, this is due to technological tools like retouching and photo shop. Even

  • 2. A Comparative Analysis of the Health Care System in France... A Comparative Analysis of the Health Care System in France vs the United States Introduction Everyone would agree that a good health system, above all, must contribute to good health. It is certainly not considered acceptable to protect or improve the average health of the population, if at the same time inequality worsens or remains high because the gain accrues disproportionately to those already enjoying better health. The responsibility of a health care system is also to reduce inequalities to race, gender, social status and religion. While the United States is considered a world leader in almost any category they are judged; however, the US healthcare system remains one of the worst. This analysis will compare the US health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, the problem presented now is reform is being done in reaction to failure. Any industry will show that making change based on a reaction is much less effective and more costly than making change proactively after careful consideration. And, at whose expense will reform come It will come at the expense of the American people. Expenditures Dutton, summarizing OECD statistics reported in 2005, claims that the French government pays for 78.3% of France s total health care spending which accounts for 10.4% of their GDP equating to $3048 per capita. Depressingly for the United States, health care spending makes up a much higher 15.2% of the GDP at $5711 per capita, of which the United States government is contributing only 44.6%. (Dutton, 2007, p.7) Health insurance in France is primarily funded through their Social Security System. The system is made up of many different bodies and is complicated to understand in detail. Everyone working in France must contribute to the French Social Security system and everyone (French or not, working or not, unemployed, child or retired, legal or illegal immigrant) is entitled to benefit from it with no exception; the system is rather complex and considered bureaucratic. The system is threefold: Health, Family and Retirement, each of them having different structures and financing; each of them being financially ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Soul Tour On the 23 of September 2017 around 7:30pm I went and saw Tim McGraw and Faith Hill preform their Soul 2 Soul tour at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. I have never seen either of the two preform live in concert only on shows like the Country Music awards until this date. Having been a fan of country musicand growing up in a family who has always been fans of this genera of music, I have listened to them both since and have been a huge fan of them each since. I wanted to see them live not only being a fan of the two artists separately, but also this is the first time they have toured together in quite a while, if not the first, so it would not only be a once in a lifetime event but also a chance to see two of my favorite artists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seemed at the start of the show they sang songs that where at the start of their music careers and progressed through their career. They sang each song as a duet no matter if it was a Tim or Faith song. My favorite song of the night was Tim s Stay Humble and Kind and Faith s I need you , which was an encore song. During the encore everyone thought that the show was over, but Tim came out into the Stadium seat and Faith walked through the floor seats and they sang. The special effects added even more to the experience. I would go back and see the same exact show if I had the chance. The crowd was a very respectful crowd. For me it did not seem to be the stereotypical crowd that you would imagine at a summer concert that this was. People where up and singing and dancing to the music and where having an overall good time listening to the music. The crowd ranged from little kids to adults, but everyone was almost in unison with the music, it s a weird thing to experience. From where my family where sitting we did not see that much alcohol being drank and even less intoxicated people. With this you could really enjoy the show without having to deal with annoying drunk fans. If you accidently bump into someone they where respectful and apologized. You could talk to your family and Tim and Faith would encourage you to sing along to the music by stopping mid song and you would sing without them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Torah Is The Most Important Text Of The Jewish Faith Before we can compare the role of the Torah in Orthodox and Conservative Judaism, we need to know what the Torah is and what is contains. The Torah is the most important text of the Jewish faith. It contains the first five books of Moses in the Hebrew bible, or the Tanach. The first book, Genesis, talks about how the world was created by god then subsequently destroyed by him because of the wickedness within it. Exodus talks about how Moses, who was raised by the Egyptian Pharaoh, left Egypt, only to return for the Israelites and take them back to the land God Had ordained for them. Also in this book, Moses received the Ten Commandments from God on Mt. Sinai. Leviticus talks about rituals, sacrifices, and atonements that are performed by... The binding nature of halakhah is accepted among Conservative Jews, but they believe that the Law should be able to change and adapt with the world, while still remaining true to Jewish values. All of the Orthodox Jews share the key feature of the dedication to both the written and oral Torah (Orthodox Judiaism). Read loud in the synagogue, Shabbat Morning prayer is the Torah portion for the week. There can be several variations within Conservative synagogues. Some are unrecognizable from Reform Judaism, with the exception that more Hebrew is used. Other synagogues are practically Orthodox. Men and women sitting together is the exception. Some are very traditional in the reading of the Torah and prayers, but not in form, while others are more traditional in the form of the service, but not in the substance contain within it. Both sects of Judaism are very accepting of visitors, in fact, they encourage it. If a non Jew were to visit, they should dress as if they were going to their own church with modesty and proper attire. Also, even though the synagogue may differ from your current house of worship, you should refrain from criticizing the dГ©cor. You would not walk into a stranger s house and criticizes there home, would you? Both boys and girls can be unorganized, and therefore the Magnetic Organizer is for both genders. The Magnetic Organizer can appeal to many students who have trouble being organized in school. Leaving folders, papers, or homework somewhere are constant struggles of students. Magnetic Organizers can be used by both amateurs and professionals as both need to be organized in order to either become a professional, or stay one. The disabled could probably not use this design, as the main function needed to operate my design is to pull up the bin from the magnetic lock, and be able to grab whatever is placed inside of the magnetic binder. This is not a very complex design, so it can be used without much previous knowledge on how it functions. The concept of the design can be learned fairly quick. Similar Products Many common products meet the need as the magnetic organizer. One of the most common are named folders. This product meets the same purpose as the Magnetic Organizer, although, is very simple. Papers can fall out if turned upside down, and can cause much stress if done on accident. Another downside to folder is there small size can cause us to regard our attention to larger objects, causing the possibility of forgetting the folder somewhere. Another product is named a bin. • 8. Pool Chemistry Research Paper Pool Chemistry Artin Kalantari Due Date: 14/08/2014 Mrs. Josephs Introduction A swimming pool is one of the main factors for almost everyone in summer. Swimming pools can be either built above or below ground and can be constructed from many different materials. However for a pool to be safe to swim in, the water must maintain low levels of bacteria and viruses to avoid the spread of diseases and pathogens. If a pool is not properly sanitised, then it will become unsafe and unhygienic to use. If a pool were to be sanitised correctly, then the water will be kept at a correct pH level. The pH levels of a pool are one of the most important elements when looking at how to maintain a safe pool. It affects every other chemical balance in the pool water, however on a hot summer day in Brisbane, how does the sunlight affect the chlorine levels of the pool? How does this affect the pH levels? How does this UV light affect the equilibriums in a pool? What systems are there in a pool? pH of the Swimming Pool The sunlight in Brisbane is a very vital factor in pool equilibrium, as the sunlight breaks down the chlorine in the pool. However this breakdown of chlorine is indirect. This occurs due to the fact that different types of bacteria grow a lot quicker in heated up water. When this bacteria increases, more ... Apart from sodium bicarbonate, sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) and calcium hypochlorite can also act as buffers for a pool. However instead of keeping a steady pH, these chemicals can gradually increase the pH levels. Acids salts (NaHSO_4) can be used to lower it. In some pools, carbon dioxide is bubbled into the pool water to lower the pH by altering the bicarbonate equilibrium. To shift this equilibrium, sodium carbonate is used to increase ... • 9. The Trial Of The White House On August 6, Lewinsky appeared before the grand jury to begin her testimony, and on August 17 President Clinton testified. Contrary to his testimony in the Paula Jones sexual harassment case, President Clinton acknowledged to prosecutors from the office of the independent counsel that he had had an extramarital affair with Ms. Lewinsky. In four hours of closed door testimony, conducted in the Map Room of the White House, Clinton spoke live via closed circuit television to a grand jury in a nearby federal courthouse. He was the first sitting president ever to testify before a grand jury investigating his conduct. That evening, President Clinton also gave a four minute televised address to the nation in which he admitted he had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Lewinsky. In the brief speech, which was wrought with legalisms, the word sex was never spoken, and the word regret was used only in reference to his admission that he misled the public and his family. Five weeks later, on February 12, the Senate voted on whether to remove Clinton from office. The president was acquitted on both articles of impeachment. The prosecution needed a two thirds majority to convict but failed to achieve even a bare majority. Rejecting the first charge of perjury, 45 Democrats and 10 Republicans voted not guilty, and on the charge of obstruction of justice the Senate was split 50 50. • 10. The Books Of 1 And 2 Kings This paper is an analysis of the books of 1 and 2 Kings. It will examine their authorship, structure, flow, and themes. In addition, it will compare their content to the writings of 1 2 Chronicles, Isaiah, and extra biblical writers who speak of the same events. Lastly, it will examine the author s place in history as a historian and theologian. AUTHORSHIP Since writer or writers of Kings did not include their name on the document, their identity is unknown. The rabbis in the Midrash Baba Bathra 15a attributed the authorship to the prophet Jeremiah on the basis that 2 Kings 24:18 25:30 was identical to Jeremiah 52. Traditionally, Christian scholars accepted this explanation without much qualm. However, in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, scholars took the view that someone edited Kings from already existing works. Since the theme of following the Law of Moses recorded in the book of Deuteronomy runs throughout Genesis 2 Kings, most scholars title the person or persons who did the writing and editing of these books the Deuteronomist. This paper will refer to the writer of 1 2 Kings as the Deuteronomist in keeping with scholastic tradition. Some scholars believe the Deuteronomist wrote during or after the Babylonian exile. A writing of the end of 2 Kings during the beginning of the exile is plausible but not later than the start of the exile. A comparison of 1 2 Kings and Chronicles proves this theory. Chronicles was written after the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The 18th Century And Colonial America The 18th Century in colonial America was a time of change, both within the continent of North America and from the Old World that was Europe. Ever since the establishment of some of the first colonies, colonists viewed themselves as such: colonists. However, as the 17th Century passes into the 18th, and as the new century went on, colonists viewed themselves as something else: Americans. These Americans developed new beliefs that alienated themselves from their fellow Europeans, and as war escalated between France and Great Britain, this feeling was reaffirmed when these Americans came together to defend their colonies. Nonetheless, this sense of unity and self identity would not stop after the conclusion of the Seven Year s War, but it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These changes in basic language between the people of England shows that Americans in general were changing from their origins as they adapted to America, and these developments made the colonists develop a sense of difference and identity. Major reasons for those to make the journey to the New World was for them to make a fresh start and gain material wealth through land, an option not available for those in Europe. North America was seen as a goldmine for making vast fortunes, and it attracted so many to its shores. Everyone saw this as an equal chance to make a living, for North America and the colonies promoted a sense of egalitarian and individualistic values in emigrating Europeans. Edmund Burke, an English Whig, was able to recognize these changing traits and values in colonists. In a desperate expression to halt the Stamp Act, he said to Parliament Is there a single Trait of Resemblance between those few Towns, and a great and growing people spread over a vast quarter of the globe. This politician was able to recognize that Americans in general were vastly different from Englishmen, for this can be contributed to their new views of equality and an individual being able to change their life for the better (Document B). The lodge offers this exclusive niche the opportunity of a secluded holiday in a little known paradise. The 28,000 hectares of original farmland that made up the retreat and backed onto the South Island s Mount Cook National Park were converted into a big game reserve. All merino sheep on the land were sold, and deer, elk, chamois, and wapiti were brought in and released. This was a carefully considered plan. Olde Olthof, the former conservationist, believed that financially and environmentally this was the correct decision. Not only do tourists, each staying for one week and taking part in safari shooting, inject as much cash into the business as the station s annual wool clip used to fetch, but the game does less harm to the environment than sheep. Cattle, however, once part of the original station, were left to graze on lower reverflat areas. For those high flying customers seeking less bloodthirsty leisure activities, Lilybank developed other product line extensions. Horse trekking, golfing on a nearby rural course (with no need for hordes of security forces), world class photographic opportunities, helicopter trips around nearby Lake Tekapo, nature walks, and other such activities formed part of the exclusive package. One main push factor is that the jewish community in jamaica was never big. This is good and bad for a lot of reasons: Having a small jewish community meant that everyone would be generally close with one another similar to a small, closely knit town. A small Jewish community also meant that if you were looking to marry jewish that you wouldn t have as many options as you would in a bigger jewish community. Another push factor is that when the jews first arrived in jamaica they had to conceal their identity and refer to themselves as Portuguese or Spanish and had to practice their religion secretly before the british conquest of the island in 1655 but after that were allowed to practice judaism openly. This was also vital to the Jews because that s exactly what they were fleeing from in their old countries. How could someone enjoy life if the things they loved to do had to be done in secrecy or else they would be prosecuted, that s exactly what the jews were trying to find; a country that would allow them to be who they are. In the novel My Brother Sam is Dead created by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier, a family disputes over which side is right. James and Christopher Collier use the ironies of Life, Jerry, and Sam s death to induce Tim s decision of neutrality. Firstly, Life s death contributes to Tim s reasons to be neutral. The energy needed to do these trivial everyday tasks is often taken for granted, yet it is greatly required at all times. A small percentage of this energy is provided by the burning of coal to produce power. The removal of coalfor energy has been a long thought out process since the early 1960 s (Holzman). The removal of coal up until around the 1990 s was all done underground, removing the coal by using pick axes, mules, and rail cars. Mountain top removal often occurs in states such as West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. These states are rich in coal deposits and have many areas where mining may occur. Quite often, coal companies use huge deposits of coal to make money, but mining these areas have been damaging to the Appalachian region for decades. Environmental issues have become apparent with massive flooding, rock slides, water contamination, and sludge impoundment (Community). All of these have become major issues within communities among the eastern region, because they may cause a community or environment to lose its significance. Flooding is caused by the removal of trees and vegetation of an area on a steep grade mountain. Hence, when this particular area has rainfall, the water has nowhere to go, thus causing a flash flood. Blasting of a mountain can also cause rock falls to occur. Many strip mining sites are located near a town or neighborhood, often endangering residents or homes to be struck by boulders or large amounts of fly rock. Injuries can also be an issue with fly rock. Boulders have been known to come crashing into houses and causing serious injury and even death. These massive boulders are pieces that have been blown off by the blasting at the tops of the mountain. Hostility between the working classes and the government intensified further with the implementation of the poor law in 1832. The aim of the poor law was to reduce the burden of costs to the ratepayers, remove inefficiency and end the giving of relief to those in their own homes and insist that they enter the workhouse if in need of help or support. This new act led to fear and suspicion as the workingman was being punished by the upper class as well as a distinction between the `deserving and `undeserving poor. I choose this topic for research since I have the personal interest in the food I eat and I am contemplating the disciplines in medicine, particularly cardiology or cardio surgery. So, choosing this topic might enhance my knowledge in these areas that can help me to stand out from other candidates. Moreover, during my work experience in a cardiologycenter, I had many questions but they still have not answered yet, hence doing this project I am planning to find the answers for them. My first and the main question was the reason the Kazakh nation has tremendous problems with the hearthealth. Another one was why most of the patients lying in the clinic are males who are in age and overweight. These questions seem to be obvious but it was before I went to do A level and I can say that I knew nothing about the heart. Although, now I have broad knowledge about this topic I want to extend them and imply it to my culture and traditions. Therefore, I proposed a hypothesis Kazakh national food has a deleterious effect on the cardiovascular systemand it is the major cause of death from the cardiovascular diseases . Shelley uses allusion to point to the idea of the parallels between Victor and the Monster and the story of Adam and Eve. Driven by his mother s own death, Victor looked to science for a way to combat death and illness for his own personal benefit and glory. Central Idea: This trait is a big part of me and has both bad and good aspects. Introduction: Throughout my entire life, I have been a very anxious person. As a child my mother liked to take us to new places, and unlike most children who would have been overwhelmed with joy to go to chuck e cheese s, I was overwhelmed with panic. The morning we left I had gotten incredibly nauseous before even going out the door, I had no fever, no runny nose, or any other symptoms of sickness so we went on our way. After the turnoff to Johnson city I became unfamiliar with my surroundings. My heart began to race, my stomach started doing backflips, and I began to sweat profusely. Five minutes later I threw up with no warning in the back of my mother s van. We pulled over and she began asking me EMILY WHAT S WRONG WITH YOU and I told her I didn t know. I didn t know why I was so nervous to go to this place that seemed so fun with pizza and games, maybe it was the giant rat mascot? I was unsure of the cause of my feelings, but I was very sure that I just wanted to go home. To this day I still get scared of going new places, but I ve managed to learn how to cope with it a little better, however being anxious still affects me today and has shaped my life immensely. • 35. Discrimination Lives Within Everyone Essay Racial discrimination has affected the world in many ways. Historically in the United States there have always been racial issues between the African Americans and white Americans. Most African Americans were sidelined in all areas of economic, political and social growth. Whites were seen to be more superior, which led to segregation of housing, schools, restaurants, hotels, and transportation. Equally concerning, are the instances of religious discrimination that still occur in this country. Even though we have made important advances in race relations, we still face serious racial and religious discrimination in the United States. One of the most famous historical marches was the march in Birmingham, Alabama. This is where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. visited his associated organization and discussed the a nonviolent movement through the streets of Birmingham. King was arrested for violating a state policy of assembling a protest and spent time in solitary confinement. During King s time alone he wrote a letter to the clergymen of Alabama stating that he was wrongfully arrested and that he had good reason for being in Birmingham. King stated that he was the president of the SCLC organization, and he was invited to Birmingham because he had ties there in Birmingham (King 222). Another form of discrimination that plagues us today is reverse discrimination. Reverse discrimination is a controversial term referring to discrimination against members of a dominant or majority group, including the city, state, or country in favor of a minority or historically disadvantaged group. Martha Gellhorn author of White into Black told her story dealing with racial discrimination during the 1950s in Haiti. • 36. Meadow Descriptive Writing A crisp breeze bends, splits, and shifts the life around me as I slowly turn, taking in the wide, open meadow. I am in a basin on a picturesque October morning under a soft, blue sky. The mountain is remarkably bold, beautiful, yet, peaceful and right. Golden is the meadow with the yellow leaves swaying on the branches casting their color above me and fallen leaves still vibrant; light swirls and shines above and below. Some branches are bare as fall strips away summer. This meadow situated in the basin of the San Francisco Peaks; a meadow with hay like grass drying from these bracing waves of winds gives me goosebumps as I shiver my writing slants downwards and then juts up. There is an underlying rattling from this grass all bending to the East from these gusts. Pineneedles from the Ponderosas are sprinkled on the ground and crunch under each step I take crunch, then scatter. I break apart these pine needles and other debris, even some dry leaves from the aspens above. A meadow with ponderosas, an incline with aspens, all situated on this vast mountain. The wind touches all within its long reach from way up in the cloudless sky to the lowest it can extend, picking up the dirt and blowing it back in my eyes as I write this under a swaying tree. Left then right, and back again with each breeze it comes in waves: calm, a slight tickle as it brushes against me, then slam, and calm again. The name of their town now connoted rape, not patriotism, as it was originally named after a patriot s daughter. But the people of this town decided to wait it out, as they figured the book s popularity would have to lose steam eventually (Wells). This, of course, is taking a lot longer than anyone expected. The book Lolita, widely considered a classic and one of the best of the 20th century, has transformed into a part of pop culture, though the book itself looses some of its meaning in doing so. Today, the name Lolita is a noun, one that denotes youthful desirability. The noun Lolita is defined as a sexually precocious young girl (Merriam Webster). Some contemporary examples of Lolitas are Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Lana Del Ray; all of whom have tried to iconize a childish yet promiscuous look by sucking a lollipop, wearing a frock, or absorbing some other aspect of youth into their look. It is also the largest internet provider, as well as the second largest home phone service, and third largest pay tv company. This is a well established company, and is still growing and attempting to acquire other different companies to solidify its empire. Comcast has a renowned product that is nearly undisputed. The problem that has been brought to life a few years ago with Comcast, is the way they go about their customer service. The problem was given light when a customer of the company called Comcast and asked to relinquish their services.
