Rev 14:7 And he cried with a mighty voice, Revere God and give
Him glory (honor and praise in worship), for the hour of His
judgment has arrived. Fall down before Him; pay Him homage and
adoration and worship Him Who created heaven and earth, the sea
and the springs (fountains) of water.

Joh 4:23 A time will come, however, indeed it is already here,
when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in
spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such
people as these as His worshipers.
Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship
Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).
Come face to face with Jesus in scripture
and awe changes into adoration as you
behold Him in all His beauty:

His faultless purity
His unequalled wisdom
His limitless pity
His overwhelming majesty

What is
worship?
Worship is the experience of

being “lost in wonder, love and
praise”
It’s

awe

(fear, wonder, respect, admiration,
amazement)
that inspires

adoration

(love, high regard, respect,
admiration, worship, reverence,
glorification, honoring, exaltation,
devotion)
What is worship?
shachah
̂
̂
shaw-khaw'
A primitive root; to depress, that is, prostrate
(especially reflexively in homage to royalty or
God): - bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat),
humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance (curtsy,
bend), do reverence, make to stoop, worship.
proskuneō
pros-koo-neh'-o
From G4314 and probably a derivative of G2965
(meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master’s
hand); to fawn or crouch to, that is, (literally or
figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do
reverence to, adore): - worship.
What is worship?
sebomai
seb'-om-ahee
Middle voice of an apparently primary verb; to
revere, that is, adore: - devout, religious, worship
latreuō
lat-ryoo'-o
From λάτρις latris (a hired menial); to minister (to
God), that is, render religious homage: - serve, do
the service, worship (-per)
doxa
dox'-ah
From the base of G1380; glory (as very apparent),
in a wide application (literally or figuratively,
objectively or subjectively): - dignity, glory (ious), honour, praise, worship.

1Co 14:14 For if I pray in an [unknown]
tongue, my spirit [by the Holy Spirit within me]
prays, but my mind is unproductive [it bears
no fruit and helps nobody].

MSG
1Co 14:14 If I pray in tongues, my
spirit prays but my mind lies fallow,
and all that intelligence is wasted.
Amp 1Co 14:15 Then what am I to do? I
will pray with my spirit [by the Holy Spirit
that is within me], but I will also pray
[intelligently] with my mind and
understanding; I will sing with my spirit [by
the Holy Spirit that is within me], but I will
sing [intelligently] with my mind and
understanding also.
MSG 1Co 14:15 So what's the solution?
The answer is simple enough. Do both. I
should be spiritually free and expressive as
I pray, but I should also be thoughtful and
mindful as I pray. I should sing with my
spirit, and sing with my mind.

Col 3:16 Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah)
have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you
in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train
one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in
spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in
your hearts

MSG
Col 3:16 Let the Word of Christ--the Message--have the run of
the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and
direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing
your hearts out to God!
Amp
Col 3:17 And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word
or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in
[dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the
Father through Him.

MSG
Col 3:17 Let every detail in your lives--words,
actions, whatever--be done in the name of the
Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step
of the way.
Amp Php 3:3 For we [Christians] are the
true circumcision, who worship God in
spirit and by the Spirit of God and exult and
glory and pride ourselves in Jesus Christ,
and put no confidence or dependence [on
what we are] in the flesh and on outward
privileges and physical advantages and
external appearances-MSG
Php 3:3 The real believers are the ones the
Spirit of God leads to work away at this
ministry, filling the air with Christ's praise
as we do it. We couldn't carry this off by
our own efforts, and we know it--

Psa 132:7 Let us go into His tabernacle; let
us worship at His footstool

MSG
Psa 132:7 We shouted, "Let's go to the shrine
dedication! Let's worship at God's own footstool!"
Frustration from Heaven
What has worship become?
…a majority of people leave church
without feeling that they experienced
God’s presence…

Why?
Predictability
Start with 3 fast
songs, into 4 slow
songs, followed by
communion, then
the ‘word’, and
maybe ministry
time
John 3:6 states that:
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear it’s sound,
but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is
going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit”.
Prayerlessness

How many of
you struggle
with your
prayer life?
Worship Leader Dependency
‘Take away your
music group
and ask your
people to
worship.
That’s how good
your worship
really is’.
Causes of Our Failure
We can only worship when the
worship team takes the lead
and make music

Songs replaces prayer – it’s
like a show and we are
watching
Rituals replaces
relationship – no
longer do we have a
relationship with the
Spirit, but follow the
tradition of the
church

Entertainment replaces
cost – we rather
entertain than give
the truth and holy
wrath
Desert island worshippers –
if you were on a desert island with no CD, no
worship leader or bible reading plan – would
you still worship, pray and meet with God?
Three Questions to Ask of Yourself:
Are you following the Spirit
and hearing God or are you
simply repeating a ritual?

Do you truly reflect the creativity Do you have a healthy,
fervent prayer life or
of our God or are you imitating
is prayer is too
and regurgitating meaningless
challenging for you?
worship?
Myths of
1. God’s Order is Like Our Order
2. God is Polite and Politically Correct
3. The Local Church should be Like a Conference
4. If in Doubt, do what you did Last Week!
5. Better Music will mean Better Worship
6. Our Worship Culture is the Right One
7. We Have to Fill the Allotted Time
8. Imitation is as Good as Revelation
Blueprint for Worshippers

Are You a True Worshipper or
Are You a False Worshipper?

God is looking
for true
worshippers
This
implies?
1. Your Mouth Moves Mountains
What is in your heart will come
out of your mouth

Use your mouth in
worship
2. Passionate Praise
Psalm 22 states that God is enthroned on the
praises of Israel –
the word ‘praise’ does not mean singing a few
nice songs or thinking quietly about God.
No, the word means ‘high’ praise.
Praise that is enthusiastic, loud, passionate.

Passion / Zeal is God’s Kingdom-Increasing Tool
3. Choose Spirit over Flesh

Not what your soul or body desires,
but with your spirit –
…worship the Father in spirit and in
truth, for the Father seeks such to
worship Him.
4. God’s River of
Worship

Your spirit and God’s Spirit must come into a state
of glorious union if you are to be led by the Spirit in
powerful worship

As you become one spirit with God through surrender and infilling, his
motives can become yours, his love becomes expressed in you and
your worship is led and perfected by his own Spirit’s leading.
It’s the Holy Spirit who will communicate to your spirit, giving
direction, power, life and strength to your worship.
5. The Intimacy
of God’s Throne
Room

You must enter into the Throne Room of
God, spend time with Him, be intimate with
Him, worship Him, hear from Him
