My title tonight is "How Do We Enter Into Worship?”
And the scripture that came to me was Psalms 104: “I
will enter his gate with thanksgiving and his courts with
praise and be thankful unto him and praise his name.”
Now how do we go about doing that?
9
What I did was I looked for several different verses and
the verses that come to my heart are: “Rejoice in the
Lord always and again I say rejoice. O give thanks unto
our Lord for he is good and his mercy endureth forever.
Shout unto God with a voice of triumph. Sing unto God
with a voice of praise.” When we're entering into
worship, I start my day with prayer and with prayer I lift
up the promises of God. I thank the Lord. I thank him
that “No weapon formed against me or my household
10
shall prosper.” And I thank the Lord that “Greater is he
that is me then he that is in the world.” I praise the Lord
God that ”This is the day that the Lord has made and I
will rejoice and be glad and it.” I thank the Lord God
that “I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus
who strengthens me.” And then after I go through that I
go into a spirit of praise: “I will praise thee oh Lord my
God with all my heart and I will glorify thy name
forevermore for the Lord is great and he is greatly to be
11
praised. He is to be feared above all gods”. And the
contexts of these are Psalms 86:12 Psalm 96:4 and Psalm
98:4 “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth:
make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.” And
what this is telling us is that it's actually giving
instructions on how to worship. It's a form of worship in
song.
12
Ways to Enter Into Worship
There are several ways of worshiping the Lord. You can
worship through song, we can worship through praise, we
can worship through being a servant of God, etc. We can
worship God in anything that we do. It's having an
awareness of the Lord and giving him credit where all
credit and praise is due. Psalm 96:1 states: “Oh sing
unto the Lord a new song. Sing unto the Lord all the
13
earth.” The Lord will give you songs as you spend time
in his presence and he will give you songs as you worship
him. When singing praises to him melodies will just
come to your mind and you'll just start singing. That's a
new song unto the Lord. We go forth from thanksgiving
into praise for what he has done. Jeremiah 20:13 states:
“Sing unto the Lord for he is the Lord, for he hath
delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of
evildoers.”
14
As we enter into a place of worship, he comes in and
protects us. He delivers us from things. He delivers us
from bondages, from sickness, from disease. Psalm 9:1-2
says: “I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all thy marvelous works. I will be glad
and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O
thou most High.” Hallelujah!!
15
Our Enemies Retreat
Psalm 9:4-11 states: “When mine enemies are turned
back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence. For
thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou sates
in the throne judging right. Thou hast rebuked the
heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put
out their name forever and ever. O thou enemy,
destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast
16
destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.
But the LORD shall endure forever: he hath prepared
his throne for judgment. And he shall judge the world
in righteousness; he shall minister judgment to the
people in uprightness. The LORD also will be a refuge
for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they
that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou,
LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Sing
17
praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare
among the people his doings.”
What a powerful thing! As we press into things of the
Lord, he just opens up things for us and there's so much
to praise and worship the Lord for in the mighty things
that he does on our behalf; things that we don't even
know. There have been times that I have gone through
tribulation just praying, praising, and singing to the Lord.
18
That breaks through that atmosphere where there could
be oppression and heaviness. That brings forth the spirit
of joy that just overpowers you and nothing can shake
you.
19
Voice of Triumph
It's so important to stay in a state of worship. Psalm 47:1
says:” Oh clap your hands all you people, shout unto
god with the voice of triumph.” Shout! Unto God with
the voice of triumph! Today on my face book, I put a
verse up that really spoke loudly to me and I believe that
this is where we are. In 2nd Chronicles 23:13: “And she
looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the
20
entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the
king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and
sounded with trumpets, also the singers with
instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing
praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said,
Treason, Treason.” And I believe as we enter into more
worship and praise, while spending time in his presence
and having that intimate time with the Lord, he will start
showing us more and more about what is going on in the
21
Kingdom and in the spiritual realm that we don't even
know, and how close we are coming to the coming of the
Lord! This is the time of preparation and celebration.
We celebrate because of what we know what is to come.
We don't have to see it as walking in faith, because we
know that we know that we know the Lord is coming and
that the victory has been won because he says so in his
word. Psalm 149:3: “Let them praise his name in the
dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel
22
and harp.” As we worship in song there is a dance, there
are instruments that we can play, there are banners that
we can fling back and forth, there's timbrels, there's all
kinds of ways that we can worship the Lord. You could
sing a song. Psalm 150:4 says: “Praise him with the
timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments
and organs.” So if you can't sing a tune, but you can
play an instrument you could be playing an instrument
with a song unto the Lord and this is a form of worship.
23
2 Samuel 6:14 states: “And David danced before the
LORD with all his might” With all his might! I can see
him dancing and stomping his feet with every bone and
every muscle and every ligament in his body to the point
of maybe hurting. He was just dancing with all his
might, with all his joy that he has in his body; twirling
and celebrating God. In the midst of thanksgiving and
praise we enter into a place of worship where we are
pleasing to the Lord. When we give him everything that
24
we have with all our hearts, all our soul, and with all of
our minds; we are giving thanks as praise breaks through
and takes us into the Throne Room. When we can come
into an intimacy with the Lord, it is then that people are
healed, people are delivered, people are set free, and
chains fall off. It is then when we need to take time, be
still before the Lord, and listen.
25
Stillness Is Praise
We don't always have to speak; sometimes there's a time
to be still and quiet. That's where he wants to speak to us
and that's why we have two ears and one mouth, so that
we listen more and speak less. As we do this and practice
this he will take us deeper; deeper into his presence.
Intimacy broken down spells IN TO ME and SEE.
26
Get in to me, He says, and you will see greater and
mighty things that you know not of. Hebrews 13:15-16
says: “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of
praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips
giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to
communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is
well pleased.” So as we enter into that worship, we enter
into that praise, we seek his word outright, we worship
him in dance and song, and service in playing instruments
27
or whatever it might be; it is pleasing unto the Lord.
Psalm 22:3 states: “But thou art holy, O thou that
inhabitest the praises of Israel.” So as we enter into a
place of worship and praise, we come into a place of
holiness as his presence comes into our presence. I have
been in a place where I can be sitting still before the Lord
and I feel his presence coming in. It's coming in to the
point where I can smell the sweet fragrance of the Holy
Spirit. It's such an awesome place to be!
28
I encourage those of you who haven't experienced that.
The way to get there is to spend time with him and to get
into his word. You must spend time praying and
worshipping him and take time to listen and see what he
will say to you. He will speak to you in a still, quiet
voice. He is such an intimate God that if you've never
done it, you can talk to him about the very smallest things
in your life.
29
If you don't know how to clean your house, say: "Lord, I
don't know how to clean my house. Will you help me
clean my house?” He will start giving you instructions
on what to do and how to do it. I remember hearing a
gentleman speak about how he was building something
and didn't know exactly how to make it work. He had
been working and working at it, trying to drill this whole
or something and he said, "Oh Lord, I need your help.”
Then the Lord gave him instruction and when he did what
30
the Lord told him, he did in a matter of seconds and it
was so simple. Spending time in his presence will do
that. As we worship him in spirit and in truth we are
pleasing to him and he will meet us in that secret place.
That is where we receive our strength, our healing of
physical and emotional hurts, where people get delivered
from the strongholds that have had them bound, and that
is where we rise up! Overcome, and get our victory! We
do this in church on Sundays. It's easy to go to church
31
and do it with the congregation, but it is something that is
more intimate when we practice doing this at our home
and in our own intimate time; from the time that we wake
up to the time that we close our eyes at night and even in
our sleep. There have been times where I have been
sleeping and I wake up and I hear myself praying in the
spirit and that I'm not even aware that I've been praying
in the spirit and who knows I may have been doing it all
night long. The more that you spend time with him, the
32
more you will be aware of his presence even when you're
asleep; even this is a form of worship. You will find that
the more you desire to spend time with him; you will go
deeper into him and the intimacy.
33
Recognizing God’s Presence in Your Life
The more you recognize God's presence in your life and
your entire day, the more you will commune with the
Lord in worship. You will find that the more that you
spend time in His presence, the more you will be aware
of Him in everyday things. You might be driving down
the road and all of sudden you might feel the urge to pray,
but you don't know why. But, you will obey because that
34
stirring is so deep inside your spirit and as you pray
you're driving along and you see an accident that could
have been you and God protected you or maybe there's
somebody in that accident that needed prayer because of
damage that was done. My husband, before he died, he
had a massive stroke. I felt very stirred to pray for him,
but I didn't know what was going on. I had a nudge to
call where he was at and have them check on him, they
did, and they found him collapsed. During that whole
35
time I prayed in the spirit and didn't know what I was
going to come into. As I went into the hospital there he
laid unconscious. The Lord allowed me to pray over him,
because he didn't know the Lord. I prayed the sinner’s
prayer over him while he was unconscious, but I know
that when people are unconscious they can hear the Lord.
I laid my hand on his chest, I told him we're going to do
the sinners prayer and you've always said that you would
accept the Lord. I told him that all he had to do was to
36
just surrender and that the Lord already knows his heart
and that you don't have to say anything. As I laid my
hand on his chest, said the sinner’s prayer, and said Jesus
come into my heart, I felt his heart literally leap into my
hands. I asked the nurse if something had jumped on his
EKG and they couldn't find anything. I knew that was
the Lord showing me that he had received the Lord in his
heart. After that, they rolled him into emergency surgery.
When he came out he was pronounced brain dead.
37
Within 12 hours from that time, he was pronounced dead.
My family went through the hardest time, but because I
had prayed the entire time, followed the stirring of the
Holy Spirit, and worshipped the Lord we were able to get
through that time in a miraculous way. People looked at
us and wondered how did we do it, and it was because the
Lord was with us. As we spend time in worship, as we
spend time in praise, reading his word, and learning his
presence you will find that NOTHING! “No weapon
38
formed against you shall prosper!!” You will find that
you can do all things through Christ Jesus who
strengthens you. We are more than conquerors through
Christ Jesus!
