On Data Quality Assurance and Conflation Entanglement in Crowdsourcing for En...
Volunteer geographical information (VGI) either in the context of citizen science, active crowdsourcing and even passive crowdsourcing has been proven useful in various societal domains such as natural hazards, health status, disease epidemic and biological monitoring. Nonetheless, the variable degrees or unknown quality due to the crowdsourcing settings are still an obstacle for fully integrating these data sources in environmental studies and potentially in policy making. The data curation process in which a quality assurance (QA) is needed is often driven by the direct usability of the data collected within a data conflation process or data fusion (DCDF) combining the crowdsourced data into one view using potentially other data sources as well. Using two examples, namely land cover validation and inundation extent estimation, this paper discusses the close links between QA and DCDF in order to determine whether a disentanglement can be beneficial or not to a better understanding of the data curation process and to its methodology with respect to crowdsourcing data. Far from rejecting the usability quality criterion, the paper advocates for a decoupling of the QA process and the DCDF step as much as possible but still in integrating them within an approach analogous to a Bayesian paradigm.

decision making process is unknown. To improve these new information exchanges and the corresponding
systems, an evaluation method is needed to assess the performance of these processes and systems. This paper
builds on existing evaluation methods for information systems and design principles to propose such an impact
evaluation framework. The proposed framework has been applied in a case study to demonstrate its potential to
identify areas for further improvement in the (online) collaboration between information suppliers and users.
A KPI-based process monitoring and fault detection framework for large-scale ...
Large-scale processes, consisting of multiple interconnected sub-processes, are commonly encountered in industrial systems, whose performance needs to be determined. A common approach to this problem is to use a key performance indicator (KPI)-based approach. However, the different KPI-based approaches are not developed with a coherent and consistent framework. Thus, this paper proposes a framework for KPI-based process monitoring and fault detection (PM-FD) for large-scale industrial processes, which considers the static and dynamic relationships between process and KPI variables. For the static case, a least squares-based approach is developed that provides an explicit link with least-squares regression, which gives better performance than partial least squares. For the dynamic case, using the kernel re- presentation of each sub-process, an instrument variable is used to reduce the dynamic case to the static case. This framework is applied to the TE benchmark process and the hot strip mill rolling process. The results show that the proposed method can detect faults better than previous methods.

In the present paper, applicability and
capability of A.I techniques for effort estimation prediction has
been investigated. It is seen that neuro fuzzy models are very
robust, characterized by fast computation, capable of handling
the distorted data. Due to the presence of data non-linearity, it is
an efficient quantitative tool to predict effort estimation. The one
hidden layer network has been developed named as OHLANFIS
using MATLAB simulation environment.
Here the initial parameters of the OHLANFIS are
identified using the subtractive clustering method. Parameters of
the Gaussian membership function are optimally determined
using the hybrid learning algorithm. From the analysis it is seen
that the Effort Estimation prediction model developed using
OHLANFIS technique has been able to perform well over normal

This document describes a study that develops a fuzzy inference system (FIS) to assess the sustainability of biomass production for energy purposes. The FIS uses four input parameters - energy output, energy balance ratio, fertilizer usage, and pesticide usage - with defined membership functions. Eighty-one IF-THEN rules were created relating the input parameters to a single output parameter, a fuzzy sustainability index (FSI). The FSI indicates the sustainability level as very low, low, medium, high or very high. The FIS provides a means to evaluate biomass sustainability that can handle uncertain input data, unlike other assessment methods. Graphs show the relationship between input parameters and the fuzzy output based on the rules.

An Empirical Study of the Improved SPLD Framework using Expert Opinion Technique
Due to the growing need for high-performance and low-cost software applications and the increasing competitiveness, the industry is under pressure to deliver products with low development cost, reduced delivery time and improved quality. To address these demands, researchers have proposed several development methodologies and frameworks. One of the latest methodologies is software product line (SPL) which utilizes the concepts like reusability and variability to deliver successful products with shorter time-to-market, least development and minimum maintenance cost with a high-quality product. This research paper is a validation of our proposed framework, Improved Software Product Line (ISPL), using Expert Opinion Technique. An extensive survey based on a set of questionnaires on various aspects and sub-processes of the ISPLD Framework was carried. Analysis of the empirical data concludes that ISPL shows significant improvements on several aspects of the contemporary SPL frameworks.

Emerging technologies provide opportunities for the humanitarian responders’ community to enhance the
effectiveness of their response to crisissituations. A part of this development can be contributed to a new type of
information supply chains -driven by collaboration with digital, online communities- enabling organizations to
make better informed decisions. However, how exactly and to what extend this collaboration impacts the
decision making process is unknown. To improve these new information exchanges and the corresponding
systems, an evaluation method is needed to assess the performance of these processes and systems. This paper
builds on existing evaluation methods for information systems and design principles to propose such an impact
evaluation framework. The proposed framework has been applied in a case study to demonstrate its potential to
identify areas for further improvement in the (online) collaboration between information suppliers and users.
A KPI-based process monitoring and fault detection framework for large-scale ...
Large-scale processes, consisting of multiple interconnected sub-processes, are commonly encountered in industrial systems, whose performance needs to be determined. A common approach to this problem is to use a key performance indicator (KPI)-based approach. However, the different KPI-based approaches are not developed with a coherent and consistent framework. Thus, this paper proposes a framework for KPI-based process monitoring and fault detection (PM-FD) for large-scale industrial processes, which considers the static and dynamic relationships between process and KPI variables. For the static case, a least squares-based approach is developed that provides an explicit link with least-squares regression, which gives better performance than partial least squares. For the dynamic case, using the kernel re- presentation of each sub-process, an instrument variable is used to reduce the dynamic case to the static case. This framework is applied to the TE benchmark process and the hot strip mill rolling process. The results show that the proposed method can detect faults better than previous methods.

In the present paper, applicability and
capability of A.I techniques for effort estimation prediction has
been investigated. It is seen that neuro fuzzy models are very
robust, characterized by fast computation, capable of handling
the distorted data. Due to the presence of data non-linearity, it is
an efficient quantitative tool to predict effort estimation. The one
hidden layer network has been developed named as OHLANFIS
using MATLAB simulation environment.
Here the initial parameters of the OHLANFIS are
identified using the subtractive clustering method. Parameters of
the Gaussian membership function are optimally determined
using the hybrid learning algorithm. From the analysis it is seen
that the Effort Estimation prediction model developed using
OHLANFIS technique has been able to perform well over normal

This document describes a study that develops a fuzzy inference system (FIS) to assess the sustainability of biomass production for energy purposes. The FIS uses four input parameters - energy output, energy balance ratio, fertilizer usage, and pesticide usage - with defined membership functions. Eighty-one IF-THEN rules were created relating the input parameters to a single output parameter, a fuzzy sustainability index (FSI). The FSI indicates the sustainability level as very low, low, medium, high or very high. The FIS provides a means to evaluate biomass sustainability that can handle uncertain input data, unlike other assessment methods. Graphs show the relationship between input parameters and the fuzzy output based on the rules.

An Empirical Study of the Improved SPLD Framework using Expert Opinion Technique
Due to the growing need for high-performance and low-cost software applications and the increasing competitiveness, the industry is under pressure to deliver products with low development cost, reduced delivery time and improved quality. To address these demands, researchers have proposed several development methodologies and frameworks. One of the latest methodologies is software product line (SPL) which utilizes the concepts like reusability and variability to deliver successful products with shorter time-to-market, least development and minimum maintenance cost with a high-quality product. This research paper is a validation of our proposed framework, Improved Software Product Line (ISPL), using Expert Opinion Technique. An extensive survey based on a set of questionnaires on various aspects and sub-processes of the ISPLD Framework was carried. Analysis of the empirical data concludes that ISPL shows significant improvements on several aspects of the contemporary SPL frameworks.

Projects are finite terminating endeavors with distinctive outcomes, usually, occurring under transient conditions. Nevertheless, most estimation, planning, and scheduling approaches overlook the dynamics of project-based systems in construction. These approaches underestimate the influence of process repetitiveness, the variation of learning curves and the conservation of processes’ properties. So far, estimation and modeling approaches have enabled a comprehensive understanding of repetitive processes in projects at steady-state. However, there has been little research to understand and develop an integrated and explicit representation of the dynamics of these processes in either transient, steady or unsteady conditions. This study evaluates the transfer function in its capability of simultaneously identifying and representing the production behavior of repetitive processes in different state conditions. The sample data for this research comes from the construction of an offshore oil well and describes the performance of a particular process by considering the inputs necessary to produce the outputs. The result is a concise mathematical model that satisfactorily reproduces the process’ behavior. Identifying suitable modeling methods, which accurately represent the dynamic conditions of production in repetitive processes, may provide more robust means to plan and control construction projects based on a mathematically driven production theory.Similar to Work Package 3 (20)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK WP3 is responsible for the development of a holistic indicator framework for convergence based on; the principles and baseline information provided by WP2; and the analysis of existing sustainability indicator frameworks i.e. the Human Development Index, The Genuine Progress Indicator, the New Economics Foundations Happy Planet index, Yale’s sustainability index, GDP and Green GDP etc. ULUND will develop the multifunctional domain use function, i.e. the synthesis of the socio, economic, and environmental indicators, through CONVERGE requirement analysis. This analysis will be based mainly upon collaboration between ULUND and UOB (WP2) on the understanding of convergence and divergence processes, and the analysis of sustainability frameworks. PART 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK Expected outcome is a hierarchal list of impact issues and a related key indicator framework, which will include multi-dimensional domain influence of human activity onto the anthroposphere (or the Sustainable Domain Functions, SDF). This will be performed by ULUND through a combination of reviewing existing methodologies and inventing a new one. The CONVERGE indicator framework will be adapted to measure success through so-called sustainable choice space (SCS). Results from community-action research (HI, WP7) will be used to refine indicator framework as well as field testing. PART 1. Development of the CONVERGE indicator framework … CONTINUED
- 4. COMMUNITY ACTION RESEARCH & GROUP MODELLING WORKSHOPS
- 5. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This is related to the indicator framework but adds the possibility of adaptability and operationality of the indicator framework. This adaptability will enable the adaptive management approach taken in part three. This part will rely mainly on cooperation between UOB (WP2), TNS (WP5) and HI (WP7). PART 2. Development of the CONVERGE methodological tool

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This part will be undertaken by including the backcasting from principle methodology from the Natural Step Framework (TNS) and, integrating the system dynamic modelling in the DPSIR process, making the indicator framework part of a dynamic adaptable management process. The work will be performed with input from UOB (WP8), SZIU (WP4), TNS (WP5) and WP9 and WP7. CONVERGE will enhance the robustness of the DPSIR model so it can describe and analyse several environmental dimensions simultaneously and in a dynamical fashion. The end results will be a new decision support process, aimed at decision makers that need to understand consequences of their policies before implementing them. A modelling case study will be carried out in a selected community (nation/region?) in order to apply the decision support process and test the framework, which will be developed in WP7. PART 3.
