Project Scope
The PROJECT PERFECT White Paper Collection Defining the Scope of a Project Neville Turbit
Scope v Time Cost When people talk about scope, they immediately think time and cost. Time
and cost are outputs of scope. Determining scope is a different exercise. In the context of this
white paper, when we talk about defining the scope, we are talking about developing a common
understanding as to what is included in, or excluded from, a project. We are not talking about
deciding how long it will take, or how much it will cost. That comes after the scope is defined. If
we were looking for a car, we would first define the scope. For example we want a 4 cylinder front
wheel drive with seating for 2 adults and 2 children, and less than 2 years old.... Show more content

For example, you might not know exactly what reports are required but you allow for 12
unspecified reports. Once the external deliverables are defined, the Project Manager can define
the internal deliverables. Example External Deliverables: Name License Detail Screen.
Company Summary Screen License Due Report 5 Reports Server Etc. Description Screen to
enter and view license details Screen to view all licenses issued by a particular company.
Facility to drill down to License Detail Screen. Report listing all licenses due in the next period.
Facility to select a period eg 1 week, 4 weeks, quarter Allow for 5 unspecified reports Server to

Specification Weekly Reports Prototypes x 3 Etc. Description Document identifying how the
project will be managed Document identifying the requirements for the project Status reports to
be issued weekly Three prototypes will be allowed for in the development. Define the
Functionality Another technique is to define the functionality. This should not be either a long or
detailed process. Typically, depending on project size, the exercise can be completed in a one
hour to half day workshop. A good technique is to use a functional decomposition. If using a
spreadsheet and a projector, a scribe can create the scope as it is discussed. Remember to start

Supernatural Elements In The Siren
Young Adult modern fantasy books from the past 10 years shows the reader about an idea for a
magical modern world full of supernatural elements involved with the characters. In The Siren by
Kiera Cass the novel shows the criteria of a modern world because of the settings the characters
are in throughout the novel. Kahlen and her sisters, the main characters, are sirens. Sirens are
women who serve the Ocean, they use their voices in a form of song to lure any human who
hears them to their deaths on sea. Kahlen and Akinli, Kahlen s love interest in the book, both
attend a college in Miami. The college is described as having up to date dorms and technology such
as laptops. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell shows a unique take on Harry Potterin England... Show

In Winter by Melissa Meyer there is proof of an underdog protagonist, Cinder, that has to fight with
another person of higher power, literally. The antagonisthas higher power because she is the
queen of the moon and Cinder is a cyborg from a middle class family. Cinder is the underdog of
the novel, and the book series because she is a cyborg. She is also the long lost Princess Selene,
rightful heir to the throne. Cinder is also wanted by Queen Levana, the queen of the moon and
Cinder s aunt, because Levana is threatened by Cinder. Levana and Cinder fight in Levana s
throne room on Luna. Cinder confronts Levana and they fight for whoever will be the true
Queen of Luna. In the end Levana is shot in the head and dies. Cinder is stabbed through the
heart but miraculously survives. In The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan there is proof of underdog
protagonists. Leo, Jason, and Piper are recently discovered demigods that are still trying to
understand what they are capable of by the end of the book. The three must fight Porphyrion, the
kind of giants, and Khione, the goddess of snow. The Lost Hero shows the criteria of having
underdog protagonists having to fight with people of higher power than they have. Leo, Jason, and
Piper are recently discovered demigods that go on a quest after discovering their new family lines.

Compare And Contrast The Four Contemporary Management...
There are four known contemporary management approaches that include: sociotechnical theory,
organizational behavior, quantitative management and systems theory. These management
approaches are essential in analyzing the different organizational environments, including internal,
macro and competitive environments. This paper will look at the different contemporary
managementapproaches, define open systems and describe the internal, macro and competitive
organizational environments. It will also indicate whether or not the four contemporary approaches
to management are relevant in the above stated environments.
Sociotechnical is the first contemporary management approach. It is thought that success in each
and every organization comes when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this approach, how the manager treats employees signifies the expected behavior of the
employees. Hence, if he sees them as ineffective, then they will be ineffective (Gupta, 2009).
There is also the systems theory approach to contemporary management. This approach focuses on
the relationship that exists between the organization and the general public. It defines an
organization as a system that is either closed or open, but in most cases open. In that regard, an
open system is defined as an organizational interaction with its own environment by way of inputs
and its outputs. Therefore, it can be said that the environment impacts on the organization while the
organization also has an impact on the environment.
There are three environments that are essential to the organization and they are: the internal, macro
and the competitive environments. These environments together with the open systems are vital
parts of an organization that should be considered in the determining the approach to adopt
(Wetherly Otter, 2014). The internal environment can be described as all the forces that are within
the organization that impacts on the organization. The internal environment incorporates all the
managers, workers and the resources that the organization has to assist in the daily operations. The

Examples Of Political Cartoon
A political cartoon is an illustration that contains messages either politically or socially that relate
in a light way to current events or people. In this case it is showing the Republican Party s view,
if a lame duck president should nominate a new Supreme Court Justice. Republicans are shown as
elephants a symbol of the party. It shows the irony between not wanting him to nominate and not
wanting to look like the bad one. Using imagery, irony and some physical, descriptive elements,
Dan Wasserman explains the giant rift between President Obama and the Republican Party. When a
Supreme Court Justice dies, it is the president s duty to nominate a new judge. However generally
speaking in the last year of a presidency it is uncommon to appoint a new judge. This cartoon is
emphasizing the view the Republican Party has, that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that although they know that any time there is an open seat at the bench the President
has the right to fill it, they don t want the current president to appoint one. They are clearly hoping
that a Republican gets elected to the White House. At the same time they don t want to hurt the
party s chances by looking like the bad people, they therefore to no avail have tried to convince
President Obama to hold off nominating a new judge. This has further divided the Republicans and
the Democrats with a wedge that seems to only get wider. Dan Wasserman uses a combination of
current events and irony to explain the issues in our country. He is explaining the differences in the
political parties. He shows that although the Republicans don t want to be labeled the bad guys,
they are showing they won t give an inch to the Democrats and vice versa. It shows the continued
divide in our country. It shows that until the parties work together we will continue having
arguments and accomplish

Essay On Homotopy Analysis Method
Abstract
This research presents Homotopy Analysis Method to Fredholm integral equations of the second
kind. An analytical method solving linear and nonlinear equations. The Homotopy Analysis Method
provides an efficient and powerful tool in solving integral equations. The method provides a great
freedom in choosing an auxiliary parameter h, an auxiliary linear operator L,an auxiliary nonlinear
operator N, to analyze strongly linear and nonlinear problems. Application of the method to
Fredholm integral equations of the second kind is analyzed which gives a rapid convergence for the
solutions.

convergence region and rate of solution series given by the above approach might not be uniquely

Louisa May Alcott Transcendentalism
Louisa May Alcott was born in 1832 in Germantown, Pennsylvania where she was taught by her
father who was a transcendentalist philosopher. She studied informally with other authors such
as Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Theodore Parker. She has been publishing
since 1851 poems, short stories, thrillers and juvenile tales. Her most popular novel was Little
Women published in 1868. From what I read in a biography, she transformed her father s story
Fruitland to make it look like the woman was the hero. It says in the article that she: makes her
own creation out of his Fruitland s story, feminizes it, making the mother the hero and the father
the fool . I feel like Louisa wanted to mock her father s story by telling her own that... Show more

Mrs. Hope said that with their new beliefs it created tension between them, they turned away
from the family. For the family it was the Utopia, but the others outside were not ready to be in
such place as they say: The world was not ready for Utopia yet, and those who attempted to
found it only got laughed at for their pains. . Utopia is an ideal place or a visionary system of
political or social perfection. With the transcendental movement everyone has to follow a routine.
They would all wake up at the same time every day, take baths, eat at the same time, have
meaningful conversations, get back to work and finish work the evening came. Within the
community there are beliefs so it is not just one person thinking in a different way, but a group of
people. It is a transcendental movement because they choose to live and believe in different things
than the rest of the world, but within the community they all have to think the same way, someone
cannot be self reliant on his own. From what I understand, the children were allowed to do what
they wanted, and members in the community were allowed to express their feeling freely, in other
community this not accepted if it is not intellectual or spiritual thinking. People should not express
their feelings freely and should speak in a very kind way, one youth did the opposite in Fruitland.

Bullet In The Brain Analysis
The evaluation of the short novel, Bullet in the Brain by Tobias Wolff was quite an interesting
subject matter when it comes to the understanding of one s true experience with the phrase My
life flashed before my eyes . In this novel, Wolff tells a story about a man named Anders who
experiences forgotten memories in his life and realizes what he once was and what he turned out to
be in the end. Wolff s interpretation of memory in this novel made a unique remark and left a deep
understandingon how someone could easily change in life without them even noticing. Throughout
the course of this story, Wolff takes you to Anders short remainder of time
in life and what
psychological adventure he experiences in this short amount of time. This novel by Tobias Wolff
shows a great deal of elements that one novel should need at all times. Bullet in the Brain takes
place in a bank where the main character of the story, Anders, goes to right before they closes
because he was apparently pretty preoccupied in his life. He comes in and since it was right
before it was closing time, a great deal of people are in line to do their own business at the same
time as him. Anders has an unfortunate luck as he goes in line right behind two annoying and loud
women who was having a, according to Wolff, stupid conversation. As time progresses, the bank
meets an unfortunate event by having two robbers come in with weapons to neutralize anyone who
needs to be. Anders with his uncontrollable short

Essay on Teleological and Deontological Ethical Systems
Abstract There are similarities and differences in deontological and teleological ethical systems.
Each of the ethical systems will be discussed in a compare and contrast so that they are made clear
to what they mean. There are seven major ethical systems that are either deontological systems or
they are teleological systems.
Teleological and Deontological Ethical Systems
When looking at two separate definitions and trying to tell the differences between the two there
will also be similarities that come out. There are differences and similarities between the

An example of this would be if a person is driving down the road and sees someone stranded they
decided to stop and help with no expectations of being repaid for their kindness. A form of
Teleological system is Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism is where the good outcome is determined by
the consequences of the action. Utilitarianism believes that you should always act to produce the
greatest possible outcome of good and evil to everyone. The other five major ethical systems are
Religion, Natural Law, The Ethicsof Virtue, The Ethics of Care and Egoism. To first start off
Religion is the most used source for individual ethics. Religion gives people a sense of knowing
exactly what is right and wrong because there are guidelines to religion. For example there are
the Ten Commandments that a majority of the religions use to set a standard or guideline to how
they should live their life. Natural Law has no ties to any religious figures but does have a
universal set of things that are right and wrong and close to those of the religious beliefs. Natural
Law is where what is natural in the world is what sets morality, and that what is natural is good.
An example would be that humans socialize and that leads to good deeds and that is natural and
moral. Natural Law and Religion are a Deontological system because there are some things that
come naturally to humans that may look like a good act it may have

The Rise and Fall of the Roman and Islamic Civilizations
Early Rome began like many other early civilizations. Sometime between 1,500 and 1,000 B.C.E.
groups of warlike people, speaking a common language we refer to as Italic, began moving into
the Italian peninsula from across the Adriatic Sean. One of these peoples was the Latins. By 800
B.C.E. the Latins established Seven Hills near the Tiber River. Around this same time the Etruscans
moved into present day Italy. The Etruscans turned seven villages into the city of Rome ruled by a
monarchy. 509 B.C.E. the Romans overthrew the Etruscan king replacing the monarchy with a
republic, in which citizens elect representatives to govern. During this time two social classes
clashed for control; the patricians and the plebeians. The patricians were... Show more content on

The Roman Empire peaked under the rule of Trajan 98 117 CE. The Pax Romana: Piece and
Prosperity reigned for 100 years (96 180 CE). Some of the accomplishments of the time were
architectural domes, concrete used in the construction of buildings, arches, aqueducts, roads and
bridges, and a system of law. The fall of Rome was most likely caused by a combination of
internal and external pressures. One of the external pressures was the Germanic Goths who were
increasingly attacking the Northern frontier along the Danube River during the reign of Marcus
Aurelious 161 180 CE. Marcus Aurelious died of chicken pox in March of 180 CE and was
succeeded by his son Commodus. Commodus disliked the administrative component of being ruler
and neglected it which lead to dissatisfaction among the senate. He tried to eliminate this by
becoming a dictator, became feared and hated by the senate. His sister and conspirators attempted
assassination in 182, ten years later he was strangled in his tub. This demonstrates the political
unrest in the late period of Roman rule. By the 3rd Century plagues and increasing economic
autonomy in the vast empire made it unmanageable. Emperor Diocletion thought the way to save
the empire was to spit it into Eastern and Western halves. The Eastern Empire consisted of Anatolia,
Syria, Egypt, and Greece. The western empire consisted of Italy, Gaul, Spain, Britain, and North
Africa. Constantius was co ruler in the eastern

How Does Charles Darnay Affect The Character Of Sydney Carton
How has the introduction of Charles Darnay s character impacted Sydney Carton s perception of
himself ? (Are Carton s realizations shown publicly, reflecting his true nature?)
The introduction of Charles Darnay s character drastically affected Carton s mental state of
character. Besides realizing the fact that they look so much similar, Carton found himself
unable to like Darnay s character. To Carton, Darnay becomes his constant reminder of what he
could have been, What a change you have made in yourself! A good reason for taking to a man,
that he shows you what you have fallen away from, and what you might have been! Change
places with him, and would you have been looked at by those blue eyes as he was. ( Dickens 89)
In the presence of his character, he begins to realize and think about his flaws thus accepting this
better version of his doppelgänger. What he is exposed to in his life is this frequent state of
being in the shadows. This is shown with Mr. Stryver who has Carton under his hands. Now with
the appearance of Darnay, his spotlight or recognition is covered again. What other sees is this
drunken , miserable, and lazy man using alcohol to escape from the reality of unhappiness. Because

A Study On Nazi Medical Experiments
The chapter on Nazi medical experiments in Chalmers book is one of the most fascinating chapters
because it examines the different types of techniques that the Nazi s used to sterilize men and
women. Chalmers explains that women were particularly subject to medical experiments because
the Nazis were obsessed with destroying inferior races and wanted to perfect the art of sterilization
so no more undesirable elements would be born (Ibid 123). However, both men and women were
subject to Nazi medical experiments like medical injections, X Rays, and chemicals, which resulted
in burnt skin, abnormalities, and death. Among these experimentations many chemical companies,
doctors, and University professors supported the experiments being done on... Show more content

This section of Chalmers book makes the reader ponder the morality of medical experiments like
abortions, stem cell research, and infanticide in the world today and questions whether we have
learned from Nazi medical experiments in the past.
The second section of Beverly Chalmers book, Birth, Sex and Abuse, deals with sexuality among
Germans and sexual abuse among Jewish women. Chalmers provides interesting information on
how the Nazi s banned homosexuality, birth control, and feminist organizations (Ibid 145).
Chalmers outlines that the goals of the Nazi party by repressing sexuality like homosexuals and
feminist movements was to promote pronatalist policies like reproduction so women could bear
more children for the superior Aryan race. Chalmers extensive study of brothels in concentration
camps interested me because I did not realize the SS allowed prostitution inside concentration
camps and the majority of these women were Germans because Jewish women were not allowed to
be prostitutes due to the Rassenschande laws. Chalmers study of German women in brothels
broadens the traditional study of the Holocaust because rather than always focusing on non German
women s experiences it allows people that study the Holocaust to examine how German women
were affected by the Holocaust in

Internet Censorship Libraries Essay
Libaries across the nation are in a dilemma, should they filter what information is available to it s
visitors via the Internet? This scenario is being debated all across the United States. Many states are
arguing over whether or not the library has the authority to limit what information is accessible via
the Internet computers at the library. The argument is over the First Amendmentright of Free
Speech. There are family groups who are actually in favor of allowing unfiltered access on the
Internet, not what one would think. These groups also support the notion of parents being with
their children while they are on the Internet, not something that all parents have the luxuryof being
able to do. Other groups want the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Public access to the Internet is available at over 50% of the public libraries in the United States.
Library patrons can access the limitless information available that the Internet offers. With this
many libraries allowing access and many more each day adding access a new dilemma has been
created. The dilemma is to support the American Library Associations Bill of Rights and the First
Amendment Right of Free Speech or to limit access to the Internet by censoring or blocking out
undesirable information, and thus going against the right of free speech. On July 2, 1997 the
American Library Association (ALA) adopted a resolution affirming that the use of filtering
software by libraries to block access to constitutionally protected speech violated the Library Bill of
Rights. An earlier statment by the ALA titled Access to Electronic Information, Services and
Networks in January of 1996 stated users should not be restricted or denied access for expressing or
receiving constitutionally protected speech.
One would think that this would resolve the libraries dilemma, it did not. Public libraries must
answer to boards, parents and their constituencies and therefore this group of people must support
this decision as well. Libraries have constitutional support as well as professional sanction for open
Internet access. Each library must wrestle with

Computer Disadvantages
When you decide that it is time to upgrade to a good computer, you have to make a big decision.
There are 2 things that it comes down to and those are that you buy a computer brand new, or if
you decide to build your own unique PC. Here are some things to look out for before you make
your final decision. We will start with some of the risks with building a computer. Obviously you
have to riskyour time. I advise that you spend quite a while to investigate which parts of the
computer will be budget friendly and efficient. You will also have to wait for the parts that you
ordered to ship in. Although it only takes about 45min 1hr to build the computer. It can be a
lengthy wait as opposed to just purchasing a PC. If you are a person who doesn t have much time
to invest into a project like this, then I think buying a computer would be a smart route for you.
However, if time isn t an issue, then building your own PC can be a fun, price beneficial project
for you. Another risk that comes with building your own PC is that, you do not have always
have a warranty if a computer part fails. Most products that you buy in which are pre assembled
tend to have warranties that take away the risk of improper use or if something stops working.
Also, while you are building the PC, it isn t impossible to mess up and break something small.
This is again where buying a PC has an advantage that is because professionals are handling the
product before you get it. If you were to break something in

The ride home from church wasn t much different from any other day. My mom was lecturing me

because of the countless times before that she asked it
There are so many other things you could do with yourself. You are in band, clubs, and have some

Please stop. I said to her, like I normally would.
I wish you could just do something safer, Gab. Especially after last year.
At this point I ve heard all of it before and I had enough of it. I looked out the window, ignoring
every word she said after that. Finally she decided it would be best if she left me alone. She must
have finally come to her senses and realized that I wasn t going to change my mind.

that something bad is going to happen. We have to have faith that everything will okay now.
Anyway, you know how much I ve worked this. I m finally where I want to be and I can t let go
now. I already lost cheer.
My mom nods, choking on the words she wishes to say. She doesn t say another word the rest of

The Motivation For Why People Go At University
The first key point that Levy discusses is the motivation for why people go to university. Levy
identifies three main reasons for students to attend university. The first reason is vocational. What
this means is that students go to university because they have recognised that gaining a higher
education and furthering their studies will provide them with a wider range of career opportunities.
The second reason is scholastic. This means that students go to universityfor personal enrichment
and for a love of learning, as they believe that a personal interest is essential to remaining at
university studies. They are not solely driven by the desire to gain more money. The third reason
is social. This means that students go to university for the social life. Levy discusses that the
reason for why these students have this motivation is due to them living close to the campus or still
living with their parents at home. He later discusses that they were unlikely to progress beyond the
first year of university a number of them realised that university is not about partying, it is all about
working hard.
Levy discusses that students later revealed numerous motivations for attending to university, not
just the common categories of vocational aspirations, scholastic or social opportunities. These
motivations were quite separate from the other factors. Some students felt compelled into attending
university not only by their parents but also their schools. Parents played a significant

a hobby or pass time. In this age and era, music has proven to be more than just hobby or a vessel
to ferry tradition down the lineage but a suitable career choice for talented youths. It has also

Reliability Is Defined, Within Psychometric Testing
Reliability is defined, within psychometric testing, as the stability of a research study or
measure(s). Reliability can be examined externally, Inter rater and Test Retest, as well as
internally; which is seen in internal consistency reliability methods. It s best to establish inter
rater reliability outside of the context of the study s measure. If the reliability is incorporated in
the measure and is extremely low, this can cause serious issues for the researchers going
forward. It is highly recommended that a pilot study be done to establish the inter rater
reliability. It is also a good idea to periodically assess the inter rater reliability if the study will be
conducted for an extensive amount of time. There is a difference in how to assess categorical
versus continuous measures inter rater reliability. If the measure is a compilation of categories,
then the researchers could have the raters mark each category that is applicable to the observations.
From those selections, the research team should calculate the percentage of agreement among the
raters. However, the research team could also calculate Cohen s Kappa, for a more stable
percentage. Cohen s Kappa Cohen s Kappa states: where Pr(a) is the observed agreement among
raters, and Pr(e) is the conjectural likelihood of chance agreement, using the observed data to
calculate the probabilities of the raters hypothetically choosing each category. With this calculation,
if the raters are in complete agreement then

Somatic Cell Cloning Blg Protein Milk
The aim was to clone a cow that didn t produce the BLG protein milk in its milk. Somatic cell
nuclear transfer (SCNT) is a technique of cloning used in Daisy the cow.
The steps taken in the process of SCNT cloning are: the nucleus, which contains the organism s
DNA, of a somatic cell is removed from a healthy egg after it has reached its dormant stage ( where
cell replication no longer occurs) and the rest of the cell is discarded. It is necessary for the cell
to be in dormant stage as dormant cells can stay in this state for long period of time, for this time
period the cell is inactive. At the same time, the nucleus of an egg cell is removed from another

Relationship Between Milk Market Participation Of...
In this paper, we study the relationship between the milk market participation of smallholder
households and women`s intra household bargaining power in Ethiopia. The main objective of
integrating Ethiopian farmers into the market is to increase household income. Our data show that
household income is indeed substantially higher in milk market participating households (101
versus 49 birr daily). This higher income of participating households is almost completely earned
by selling raw milk to the market. The other way of receiving milk income processing raw milk into
butter and cottage cheese for sale at the local market is much less important in market participant
households than in non participant households.
This difference has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an important issue, as previous research (Adeto, 2000; Mahmud, Shah, Becker, 2011)
suggests that women`s share in household income determines their participation in household
decision making and their intra household bargaining power. Moreover, Agarwal (1997),
Quisumbing Maluccio, 2000 and Njuki et al. (2011) indicated that income in the hands of women
enhances the welfare of household members more than income in the hands of men. Hence, the
income shift from women to men in market participant households can negatively affect the
women`s intra housheold bargaining power, as well as the other household member`s welfare.
To study the difference in women s bargaining power between spouses from milk market participant
and non participant households, a resource sharing game was conducted. In this game, husbands
and wives were asked to propose an amount of money to be transferred to their partner and to
indicate their expectation regarding the amount their partner would transfer to them. This game
revealed substantial differences in the amounts proposed and expected between milk market
participant and non participant households. Women`s expectations and the amounts actually
proposed by their husbands were significantly higher in market participant compared to non
participant households. Consistently, men`s expectations and the

Social Dilemmas In A Divergent
Living in the society, Tris ought to be obeying the law as she is part of it. But, when she finds out
herself is a Divergent, she can sense that something is running off. There is a social norm that that
the divergent is outskirt. And even the test administrator warns her never tell anyone her result
shows as Divergent because this will create chaos. As mentioned, the society under Abnegation
government is not just and fair, it even does not reach the view of Mockus by recognizing of legal,
moral and social norms that may regulate citizens behaviour . Each faction is required to focus on
the responsibility and they have different values, they do not agree to each other core virtues;
therefore, one faction is not willing to communicate with the other faction. Although during the
period of ruling, there is no war but it certainly builds up the disapproval from the Erudite faction to
the moral normand social norm which they think they should be the one ruling the society with
the intelligence more than being a selfless. Also, the Erudite finds out that the Abnegation leader
is actually not upholding the norms of selfless as he abused his own son which leading his child
to turn away from the family. Consequently, the Erudite tries to create new social norms; however,
they did not succeed. They should see the life as sacred and they should be following the Mayor
Mockus footstep by acting to the new rules personally, instead of hiding behind and deceive people
to do their work. Another reason that the Erudite plan is not successful because their inner demon
creates too much violence and opposing voices.
From the Week 4 reading The Better Angels of Our Nature , there is a sentence which is very
suitable for the setting of the novel. Steven Pinker wrote that even in peaceable societies, people
are fascinated by the logic of bluff and threat ... the vulnerabilities of a human body and how they
can be exploited or shielded. Even the initial state of government is trying to create the best
peacefulness to the society, the desire of the Erudite has broken the harmony by creating violence.

Gender Equality In Iron Jawed Angels
Tuesday, November 8 2016 was the first time I was old enough to vote for the presidential
election. After watching Iron Jawed Angels, I realized how much I have taken for granted in my
life and how incredibly grateful I am for all of the women that have fought for women equality
including; Alice Paul and Lucy Burns. There are still on going debates in todays society about
genderequality, but it s crazy to see how 100 plus years ago some of the rights women have now,
going to school and voting, didn t exist. In 1912, Alice Paul and Lucy Burns fought together
among other women for the right to vote. They fought for not only white women, but women of
all races. Throughout Iron Jawed Angels the women fought hard, even during the time of war
and while they were in jail, for their rights and equality. It wasn t until August 26, 1920 that
women could vote. Before that women could not attend college or pursue training for most
professions (Woods, 57). During the movie, Alice Paul was creating a friendship with a male
who taught her how to drive which is interesting because in todays society almost every women
knows how to drive or has the privilege to drive but back then only men drove or could even afford
a car because they had the right to work. In the movie Iron Jawed Angels, Senetor Leighton and
his family are described as a stereotypical family during their time period. He provides for his wife
and two kids while, his wife stays at home and doesn t work.

Lucinda Matlock Poem Analysis
Lucinda Matlock A Step Closer to our Future Life may have some disappointing moments,
however it is all recompensed with other joyful and unforgettable ones. It is sometimes worth
suffering in order to learn to be a better person and pursue a happier lifestyle until death. In the
poem Lucinda Matlock, by Edgar Lee Masters, Masters tells us about the long life of Lucinda
Matlock. Along with the poem, we could see how Lucinda Matlock lived a long and wonderful
life and she really enjoyed it, even though she experienced many harsh moments. As I read the
poem, I learned how Lucinda Matlock grew up to be a strong and determined woman who
worked as much as possible to have a good life. Just like Lucinda Matlock, many women today
do their best and try to overcome the struggles in life to achieve having a successful future. All
struggles, in one way or another, shape the person who you will become. A mediocre person
wouldn t be able to find a solution to their problems and would allow the problems to swallow
them whole and take over their lives. In comparison, a strong and determined person will know
how to deal with a problem and will work and get done what s needed to continue living life to
the fullest. In Lucinda Matlock , we can visualize how Lucinda had many moments of suffering,
but at the end, she didn t regret a single moment. Life is too strong for you / It takes life to love
Life (Line 21 22). In these lines, Edgar Lee Masters, in the voice of Lucinda Matlock, they tell
the reader that it is needed to experience life with both the ups and downs in order to see that in
reality our lives were as good as they could be. Ere I had reached the age of sixty./ I spun, I wove,
I kept the house, I nursed the sick... (Lines 10 11). In this quote, Masters demonstrates us a
determined and strong woman who at 60 years old was still working hard to keep herself on her
feet and care for herself and her loved ones. At ninety six I had lived enough, that is all,/ And
passed to a sweet repose (Lines 16 17). Her determination and strength helped her reach 96 years
and by that age, she was comfortable with death, knowing that she had a good life. The poem
Lucinda Matlock , very well demonstrates the use the

Causes Of Rural Urban Divide Of China
Causes of Rural Urban Divide: Hukou China s rural urban gaps are much larger than those found in
most other developing countries. This rural urban divide can be traced back to before the first
economic reform. Beginning in the 1950s, China separated urban and rural residents through a
strictly enforced household registration system (hukou) and focused mainly on the development of
urban cities. Hukou refers to permanent residency status and can be extremely hard to get in major
cities since it is tie to benefit levels, which differ across provinces and between urban residents and
rural residents. An urban hukou provides a relatively comprehensive system of health care and
retirement pensions in that particular city, while a rural hukou a much lower standard of welfares.
Furthermore, data shows hukou also significantly affects people s labor market return and wages
through its influence on their return to education. Individuals human capital was largely
determined by the place (rural versus urban) where they were born and received their education,
which highlights the role of China s rural urban divide in shaping people s labor market return.
From 1980 to 2010, China relied on a uniquely successful investment and export led development
model for its 30 year miracle of double digit GDP growth. However, to make rapid industrialization
possible, China directed most of its investments to the cities, financed massive urban infrastructure
and development projects. In result of

Allusions In Frankenstein
All literature has an underlying message of a constant battle between the forces of good and the
forces of evil. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is no different. The forces of supposed good and evil
come to clash with the persistent battle between Dr. Frankenstein and his monster. This conflict
between the two forces can be seen to represent the forces of God and Lucifer (or the Devil), as
both the literary and religious characters share a number of characteristics. Mary Shelley, in
Frankensteinuses symbolism and allusions to portray Dr. Frankenstein and the monster as God and
the Devil, leading to their constant battle between good and evil.
The historical context of the novel helps to develop the characters and their personalities.

Jackie Robinson and the Struggle for Equality in Baseball
Baseball has always been known as America s pastime. But America s pastime, along with America
s past, have both been saturated with the brutal force of racism. For hundreds of years, from the
time of slavery until the middle of the 20th century, African American children rounded up their
friends and headed to the baseball diamond. There, for thousands of young black players, the smell
of the grass, the cloud of dust that formed when running the ninety feet between bases, and the
feeling of safely sliding into homeplate for a run marked the glimmer of fun and excitement in an
otherwise dreary day. However, due to the color of their skin, black children were not awarded these

Jackie Robinson and the African American race marked the beginning of the struggle for the

business environment itself. Thus competition among companies forced organizations to adopt
process excellence methodologies like Six Sigma.
Smith (1993) described the approach to customer satisfaction taken at Motorola. It is based on two
conclusions derived from various studies: A product is built in the shortest time and at the lowest
cost if no mistake is made in the process; and if no defect can be found anywhere in the process of
building a product for the customer, then the customer probably will not find one either.
Six sigma is a way to measure the probability of manufacturing a product or creating a service
with zero defects (Behara et. al.1995). In 1995, General Electric CEO Jack Welch directed the
company to undertake Six Sigma as a Corporate initiative, with a corporate goal to be a Six Sigma
company by the year 2000 (Hendricks, Kelbaugh,1998).
After invention of Six Sigma in Motorola till 1995, in literature Six Sigma was considered as
statistical tool but after 1995 when GE adopted Six Sigma, it became a business strategy and

why do we need resizing? Today s cameras are so advanced that even a low end camera can take

Social Aspects Of A Person s Social Location
There are many social aspects that construct a person s social location that determines who they
are as an individual. Social location refers to an individual s place or location within their
society. My social location has mainly been shaped by my past experiences with gender, social
class, religion, and race. These four including many other factors have had a substantial
influence on the way I view society. Growing up, I didn t always conform to the normal little girl
ways set by my society. I had Barbie dolls but I also had PokГ©mon, Dinosaurs, and Ninja turtle
toys. The social gender norm for girls would be tea parties and Barbie dolls, while boys would
have dinosaurs and car toys. Though, I had a little bit of everything, as an only child I had a
choice of what I thought I liked better. My parents didn t choose what was right for me, and I
didn t so much care about what other kids had. I also started a sport very young, I joined a swim
team because my dad taught me how to swim at the age of five and I adored it. Ever since then I
started playing outdoors and I grew up playing basketball and football with the neighbor boys.
Therefore, I always had the mindset that girls could do anything that boys could do, and gender
didn t matter in most cases. Unlike the common belief that boys or men in general are better, or

Albert Fredrick Arthur George Saxe Coburg Gotha. He was the second born child child of King
George The Fifth and Victoria May. His mother was the Duchess of York. His parents raised him
very strictly. He was often sick or very ill and easily frightened, these are the traits he would
never lose even through adulthood. He also developed a stammer as a child which would
eventually affect his public speaking as an adult. His father was very harsh towards Albert. Albert
was naturally left handed as a child but the tutors his parents had for him forced him to use his
right hand.Albert lacked a close connection with his mother and father. He was also looked... Show

The King was very disgusted when he heard of the news that the South African government said
to only shake hands with the whites in Africa. The stress of this war was starting to take a toll
on George s health and well being. On the 12th of March the king was up for an operation to
remove a thrombosis on his right leg. A planned tour of Australia and New Zealand was
postponed due to the operation the king was having during this time. After the operation was
finished it threatened to have his right ler removed. With the news of this George s daughter
heiress presumptive took on a lot more royal duties. The originally delayed tour of Australia and
New Zealand was reorganized by Elizabeth and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh taking the
place of the king and queen. The king eventually healed up enough to open the Festival of Britain
but shortly after there was a tumor found in his right lung which ultimately ended up with him
having to get that lung removed. The lung was removed by Clement Thomas Price. In 1951 the
king s daughter and her husband took a trip to Canada. Which is where they stayed for a month,
but it was originally delayed again because of the king s health. At the state opening of parliament
the king s speech was read for him while he satin the throne because he couldn t read the speech
himself. It was read by Lord Simmons and then again in Christmas when the king usually
broadcasted a speech he had to do the speeches in

Power Bases Kim Jong Il
Power Bases
Coercive Power: Kim Jong Il
A coercive leader leads through fear and intimidation. The key fundamental in this leadership
style is making your followers aware that their failure will ultimately cause some form of
punishment. This can take many forms and has been demonstrated on many scales through
history. Your boss at work that punishes you with extra work should you fail to succeed at a task is
one example. I believe the most coercive leader in our world today is Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il has
been the Supreme Commander of North Korea since 1997. His leadership style was shaped through
a strict military background. His beliefs in himself are somewhat vain to most, but the people of
North Korea will literally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The population accepts him as a member of their family because of the fear he instilled in past
generations. I dare say he went so far with his coercive style that he no longer even needs to be
that way. The people were forced for so long to accept him as their leader and supreme
commander that they no longer have any other thought in their head. He has totally blocked all
internet and media transmissions into North Korea. No news gets in and you can guarantee that
very little gets out. Outsiders are not welcome to visit North Korea unless they are escorted by
officials of the Government everywhere they go. While his coercive style may have shaped his
rule in North Korea it has in some form shifted into a more Legitimate Power. While generations
past may have feared Kim Jong Il the population of North Korea today loves him as their leader.
Where some societies look to religion to fill their spiritual needs, North Koreans look to Kim
Jong Il for the same satisfaction. While he may have had no right to rule in the beginning and
his coercive style solidified his position he is certainly showing Legitimate Power in today s
world. It will be a terrible loss for the people of North Korea when they lose Kim, but at the same
time it may be the best thing that ever happened to them. While their minds are warped from years
of coercive abuse they now accept that Kim Jong Il has the right, by virtue of position, to make
demands and expect

Therapeutic Recreational Types Of Therapeutic Recreation
What does therapeutic recreation mean to me? Therapeutic recreation is a process that utilizes
recreation and education as a way to enable a being with any type of disorder, mentally, physically
or emotionally. My personal belief is that recreation can be used to help anyone become happier or
more comfortable than they already are. To put it simply, I believe that therapeutic recreation is a
very organized way to help people, no matter the circumstance, without prejudices, or
discrimination, and judgments. It doesn t matter whether the person was born with a disability,
physically or mentally, or even if they were born with no disability and are considered to be
clinically healthy , I believe as a TR representative it is our job to improve the lives of others in
any way we possibly can because if someone isn t as happy as they can be we theoretically can at
least try to help. Although I have yet to work in a therapeutic recreational type environment, I
feel that I have learned many helpful skills that translate from other fields that I can apply to the
field of TR. This past summer I worked two jobs in two completely different fields from each
other and therapeutic recreation. Working at a bar taught me that you need to be patient and
accommodating to peoples needs and wants. I also learned how big of an impact you could make
on someone s day just by doing the simplest tasks. This is especially important in TR because our
goal fully revolves around improving health and

If you haven t heard, President Obama was in Hollywood yesterday. He traveled with his
motorcade to Hollywood for a guest appearance on a late night TV show. Fans who were visiting
the area got a big surprise that they will never forget. As for the locals, they are still grumbling
over the traffic woes. Every time I see the motorcade I just smile in awe. Little American flags on
the corners of the cars, police everywhere and patriotic music blaring. OK, technically the music
is from my car, but it s a good time to share a patriotic tune when the president drives by. I always

Literary Analysis Of Their Eyes Were Watching God
Literary Analysis Paper #4
Their Eyes Were Watching God
Abid Ahmad
November 15, 2017
Our emotions are the single most human characteristics that we possess, making them nearly
impossible to encapsulate. The oppression that some of us might face may seem so great that a
limitless lexicon still won t suffice in order to convey our feelings. Similarly, the eternal feeling of
love, an intangible force that drives many of us in our actions sometimes will never receive the
justice it deserves through concrete diction. Rather, sometimes the only way to convey such
internal feelings is by externalizing it in our environment. Zora Neil Hurston does this in her novel
Their Eyes Were Watching God. She does this on every level, ranging from very broad and general
symbols that can be tweaked to different situations, to very specific images that convey an in depth
and singular message. This range allows Hurston to work her metaphors through each situation on
almost every sentence, while still flooding the novel with sensory detail. This integration between
symbolism and nature is essential in bringing the book to life. Using ever lasting images of the sun,
trees, and animals as analogies allow the reader to fully visualize the beauty in the ambience of
Hurston s novel. These extended metaphors serve the dual purpose of fascinating imagery, while
adding to the diverse and dynamic tone of the book. Hurston primarily employed her metaphors
through timeless and broad images such as the

Dave Barry Response
Summary/Response Essay Women all around the world wonder why men never clean, Dave
Barry thinks that he found the perfect excuse for them this time. Men always come up with
some reason to not clean things. Dave Barry emphasizes that men are just not able to do
housework because of how their brain works. He uses the excuse that all men just don t see or
feel the mess that is going on. Dave Barry goes on throughout his article to say that men cannot
detect dirt like women can. This is just another excuse men use so they don t have to clean. All
men and women are capable of cleaning, even if they don t see the dirt. If something has not been
cleaned in while, it is going to need to be cleaned, no matter if men or women want to clean it. Men

Ever since the beginning of time, young boys were nagged by their mothers to clean their room
and their dream was to have their own place and leave things wherever they want. If men can

shoes and just don t want to clean it up. Men just make excuses because they would rather spend
their time cleaning a car or watching a football game instead of actually cleaning around the
house. From experience my dad, my boyfriend, and all the other male figures in my life say the
same thing about cleaning a house, What s the point if it s just going to get dirty again soon

Durkheim and the Relevance of His Theories in Modern Society
Treat social facts as things is an expression that epitomises the works of Emile Durkheim. This
essay focuses on four main sociological concepts proposed by the functionalist Emile Durkheim; the
division of labour; mechanical and organic solidarity; anomie and suicide, and examines their
relevance in contemporary society.
Along with Marx and Weber, Durkheim is considered one of the founding members of modern
sociology. He is also credited with making sociology a science through his application of
scientific and empirical research. Durkheim believed that sociology should be seen as a science
separate from other sciences such as psychology, by studying social facts objectively as things.

(McDonald, 2009)
Organic solidarity arose as a result of the industrial revolution when society became more
multifaceted and new ways of working emerged. This saw a decline in the collective conscience
regarding shared morals and beliefs as society began to progress and expand. The division of
labour that arises as a result of organic solidarity is complex and varied, resulting in people
becoming more individualistic and yet also interdependent. Society s social bonds now centred
around the fact that people were dependant on each other for the good and services required in
their day to day lives. (McDonald, 2009)
As organic solidarity is typical of complex, industrialised societies, Durkheim s theory is very
applicable to modern life and the first world in particular. Individuality is a major feature of
people living in the western world today e.g. the USA, UK, and Ireland. This is evident in our
political and social thinking. Much emphasis is placed on personal rights and the belief that
nothing is more important than us. (Hughes et al, 1995) Meanwhile we are not self sufficient; we
rely heavily on the expertise of thousands globally to live our daily lives e.g. the food we eat, the
clothes we wear, the cars we drive etc. (Macionis and Plummer, 2005)
A huge increase in individualism came about because of organic solidarity resulting in a breakdown
of moral and ethical boundaries

Sternberg and Barry clearly helped us to understand that this is not true,
woman from poor countries migrate to prosperous countries (often illegally) and take jobs that
local citizens reject as to menial or low paying (Sternberg and Barry, 2011, Pg. 65). The
undocumented immigrant might have to make a sacrifice and leave their family behind in their
country when making the journey to the United States. But there are several things that cannot be
left behind no matter where he or she goes to. One of those many things is their cultural tradition.
For many, going to church and praying to God is an important tradition passed down from
generation to generation. In Detained and Deported, Mariana is a great example of this tradition.
Regan describes her as a devout Christian who had very little time to herself between school,
work and church (Regan, 2015, p.46). When she was detained she started singing hymns and
praying to her God (Regan, 2015, p.247). When in custody, she did not forget about her tradition
and got others involved in prayers (Regan, 2015, p.59). She always found time to pray to her
God. Many undocumented immigrants, before crossing over to the United Sates, made a quick
stop their church and get a cross figure or an amulet and have the priest or father bless it for

The Tragedy of Wide Sargasso Sea
In Jean Rhys novel Wide Sargasso Sea, whether Antoinette Cosway really goes mad in the end is
debatable. Nevertheless, it is clear that her life is tragic. The tragedy comes from her numerous
pursuits for love and a sense of belonging, and her failure at each and every one of these attempts.
As a child Antoinette, is deprived of parental love. Her father is a drunkard and has many
mistresses and illegitimate children. According to Daniel Cosway s account, old Cosway is
cruel to his own son. Yet even if Daniel was not really a Cosway, and his descriptions were made

Tia represents not only herself but the general native community. They hate the Cosway widow and
children because of their past slave ownership, and despise them for their lack of wealth. Indeed, it
is this hostility that motivates the natives to set Coulibri on fire and drive the Masons (now that

  • 2. Project Scope The PROJECT PERFECT White Paper Collection Defining the Scope of a Project Neville Turbit Scope v Time Cost When people talk about scope, they immediately think time and cost. Time and cost are outputs of scope. Determining scope is a different exercise. In the context of this white paper, when we talk about defining the scope, we are talking about developing a common understanding as to what is included in, or excluded from, a project. We are not talking about deciding how long it will take, or how much it will cost. That comes after the scope is defined. If we were looking for a car, we would first define the scope. For example we want a 4 cylinder front wheel drive with seating for 2 adults and 2 children, and less than 2 years old.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Define the Functionality Another technique is to define the functionality. This should not be either a long or detailed process. Typically, depending on project size, the exercise can be completed in a one hour to half day workshop. A good technique is to use a functional decomposition. If using a spreadsheet and a projector, a scribe can create the scope as it is discussed. Remember to start ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Compare And Contrast The Four Contemporary Management... There are four known contemporary management approaches that include: sociotechnical theory, organizational behavior, quantitative management and systems theory. These management approaches are essential in analyzing the different organizational environments, including internal, macro and competitive environments. This paper will look at the different contemporary managementapproaches, define open systems and describe the internal, macro and competitive organizational environments. It will also indicate whether or not the four contemporary approaches to management are relevant in the above stated environments. Sociotechnical is the first contemporary management approach. It is thought that success in each and every organization comes when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this approach, how the manager treats employees signifies the expected behavior of the employees. Hence, if he sees them as ineffective, then they will be ineffective (Gupta, 2009). There is also the systems theory approach to contemporary management. This approach focuses on the relationship that exists between the organization and the general public. It defines an organization as a system that is either closed or open, but in most cases open. In that regard, an open system is defined as an organizational interaction with its own environment by way of inputs and its outputs. Therefore, it can be said that the environment impacts on the organization while the organization also has an impact on the environment. There are three environments that are essential to the organization and they are: the internal, macro and the competitive environments. These environments together with the open systems are vital parts of an organization that should be considered in the determining the approach to adopt (Wetherly Otter, 2014). The internal environment can be described as all the forces that are within the organization that impacts on the organization. The internal environment incorporates all the managers, workers and the resources that the organization has to assist in the daily operations. The competitive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this case it is showing the Republican Party s view, if a lame duck president should nominate a new Supreme Court Justice. Republicans are shown as elephants a symbol of the party. It shows the irony between not wanting him to nominate and not wanting to look like the bad one. Using imagery, irony and some physical, descriptive elements, Dan Wasserman explains the giant rift between President Obama and the Republican Party. When a Supreme Court Justice dies, it is the president s duty to nominate a new judge. However generally speaking in the last year of a presidency it is uncommon to appoint a new judge. This shows that although they know that any time there is an open seat at the bench the President has the right to fill it, they don t want the current president to appoint one. They are clearly hoping that a Republican gets elected to the White House. At the same time they don t want to hurt the party s chances by looking like the bad people, they therefore to no avail have tried to convince President Obama to hold off nominating a new judge. This has further divided the Republicans and the Democrats with a wedge that seems to only get wider. Dan Wasserman uses a combination of current events and irony to explain the issues in our country. He is explaining the differences in the political parties. He shows that although the Republicans don t want to be labeled the bad guys, they are showing they won t give an inch to the Democrats and vice versa. It shows the continued divide in our country. She studied informally with other authors such as Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Theodore Parker. She has been publishing since 1851 poems, short stories, thrillers and juvenile tales. Her most popular novel was Little Women published in 1868. From what I read in a biography, she transformed her father s story Fruitland to make it look like the woman was the hero. Utopia is an ideal place or a visionary system of political or social perfection. With the transcendental movement everyone has to follow a routine. They would all wake up at the same time every day, take baths, eat at the same time, have meaningful conversations, get back to work and finish work the evening came. Within the community there are beliefs so it is not just one person thinking in a different way, but a group of people. It is a transcendental movement because they choose to live and believe in different things than the rest of the world, but within the community they all have to think the same way, someone cannot be self reliant on his own. From what I understand, the children were allowed to do what they wanted, and members in the community were allowed to express their feeling freely, in other community this not accepted if it is not intellectual or spiritual thinking. People should not express their feelings freely and should speak in a very kind way, one youth did the opposite in Fruitland. He said something like: Good morning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Bullet In The Brain Analysis The evaluation of the short novel, Bullet in the Brain by Tobias Wolff was quite an interesting subject matter when it comes to the understanding of one s true experience with the phrase My life flashed before my eyes . In this novel, Wolff tells a story about a man named Anders who experiences forgotten memories in his life and realizes what he once was and what he turned out to be in the end. Wolff s interpretation of memory in this novel made a unique remark and left a deep understandingon how someone could easily change in life without them even noticing. Throughout the course of this story, Wolff takes you to Anders short remainder of time in life and what psychological adventure he experiences in this short amount of time. This novel by Tobias Wolff shows a great deal of elements that one novel should need at all times. Bullet in the Brain takes place in a bank where the main character of the story, Anders, goes to right before they closes because he was apparently pretty preoccupied in his life. He comes in and since it was right before it was closing time, a great deal of people are in line to do their own business at the same time as him. Anders has an unfortunate luck as he goes in line right behind two annoying and loud women who was having a, according to Wolff, stupid conversation. As time progresses, the bank meets an unfortunate event by having two robbers come in with weapons to neutralize anyone who needs to be. Anders with his uncontrollable short ... Utilitarianism believes that you should always act to produce the greatest possible outcome of good and evil to everyone. The other five major ethical systems are Religion, Natural Law, The Ethicsof Virtue, The Ethics of Care and Egoism. To first start off Religion is the most used source for individual ethics. Religion gives people a sense of knowing exactly what is right and wrong because there are guidelines to religion. For example there are the Ten Commandments that a majority of the religions use to set a standard or guideline to how they should live their life. Natural Law has no ties to any religious figures but does have a universal set of things that are right and wrong and close to those of the religious beliefs. Natural Law is where what is natural in the world is what sets morality, and that what is natural is good. An example would be that humans socialize and that leads to good deeds and that is natural and moral. Natural Law and Religion are a Deontological system because there are some things that come naturally to humans that may look like a good act it may have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Rise and Fall of the Roman and Islamic Civilizations Early Rome began like many other early civilizations. Sometime between 1,500 and 1,000 B.C.E. groups of warlike people, speaking a common language we refer to as Italic, began moving into the Italian peninsula from across the Adriatic Sean. One of these peoples was the Latins. By 800 B.C.E. the Latins established Seven Hills near the Tiber River. Around this same time the Etruscans moved into present day Italy. The Etruscans turned seven villages into the city of Rome ruled by a monarchy. 509 B.C.E. the Romans overthrew the Etruscan king replacing the monarchy with a republic, in which citizens elect representatives to govern. The Roman Empire peaked under the rule of Trajan 98 117 CE. The Pax Romana: Piece and Prosperity reigned for 100 years (96 180 CE). Some of the accomplishments of the time were architectural domes, concrete used in the construction of buildings, arches, aqueducts, roads and bridges, and a system of law. The fall of Rome was most likely caused by a combination of internal and external pressures. One of the external pressures was the Germanic Goths who were increasingly attacking the Northern frontier along the Danube River during the reign of Marcus Aurelious 161 180 CE. Marcus Aurelious died of chicken pox in March of 180 CE and was succeeded by his son Commodus. Commodus disliked the administrative component of being ruler and neglected it which lead to dissatisfaction among the senate. He tried to eliminate this by becoming a dictator, became feared and hated by the senate. His sister and conspirators attempted assassination in 182, ten years later he was strangled in his tub. This demonstrates the political unrest in the late period of Roman rule. By the 3rd Century plagues and increasing economic autonomy in the vast empire made it unmanageable. Emperor Diocletion thought the way to save the empire was to spit it into Eastern and Western halves. The Eastern Empire consisted of Anatolia, Syria, Egypt, and Greece. (Are Carton s realizations shown publicly, reflecting his true nature?) The introduction of Charles Darnay s character drastically affected Carton s mental state of character. Besides realizing the fact that they look so much similar, Carton found himself unable to like Darnay s character. To Carton, Darnay becomes his constant reminder of what he could have been, What a change you have made in yourself! A good reason for taking to a man, that he shows you what you have fallen away from, and what you might have been! A Study On Nazi Medical Experiments The chapter on Nazi medical experiments in Chalmers book is one of the most fascinating chapters because it examines the different types of techniques that the Nazi s used to sterilize men and women. Chalmers explains that women were particularly subject to medical experiments because the Nazis were obsessed with destroying inferior races and wanted to perfect the art of sterilization so no more undesirable elements would be born (Ibid 123). Chalmers provides interesting information on how the Nazi s banned homosexuality, birth control, and feminist organizations (Ibid 145). Chalmers outlines that the goals of the Nazi party by repressing sexuality like homosexuals and feminist movements was to promote pronatalist policies like reproduction so women could bear more children for the superior Aryan race. Chalmers extensive study of brothels in concentration camps interested me because I did not realize the SS allowed prostitution inside concentration camps and the majority of these women were Germans because Jewish women were not allowed to be prostitutes due to the Rassenschande laws. The dilemma is to support the American Library Associations Bill of Rights and the First Amendment Right of Free Speech or to limit access to the Internet by censoring or blocking out undesirable information, and thus going against the right of free speech. On July 2, 1997 the American Library Association (ALA) adopted a resolution affirming that the use of filtering software by libraries to block access to constitutionally protected speech violated the Library Bill of Rights. An earlier statment by the ALA titled Access to Electronic Information, Services and Networks in January of 1996 stated users should not be restricted or denied access for expressing or receiving constitutionally protected speech. There are 2 things that it comes down to and those are that you buy a computer brand new, or if you decide to build your own unique PC. Here are some things to look out for before you make your final decision. We will start with some of the risks with building a computer. Obviously you have to riskyour time. I advise that you spend quite a while to investigate which parts of the computer will be budget friendly and efficient. You will also have to wait for the parts that you ordered to ship in. Although it only takes about 45min 1hr to build the computer. It can be a lengthy wait as opposed to just purchasing a PC. If you are a person who doesn t have much time to invest into a project like this, then I think buying a computer would be a smart route for you. However, if time isn t an issue, then building your own PC can be a fun, price beneficial project for you. Another risk that comes with building your own PC is that, you do not have always have a warranty if a computer part fails. Most products that you buy in which are pre assembled tend to have warranties that take away the risk of improper use or if something stops working. Also, while you are building the PC, it isn t impossible to mess up and break something small. This is again where buying a PC has an advantage that is because professionals are handling the product before you get it. If you were to break something in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. The Motivation For Why People Go At University The first key point that Levy discusses is the motivation for why people go to university. Levy identifies three main reasons for students to attend university. The first reason is vocational. What this means is that students go to university because they have recognised that gaining a higher education and furthering their studies will provide them with a wider range of career opportunities. The second reason is scholastic. This means that students go to universityfor personal enrichment and for a love of learning, as they believe that a personal interest is essential to remaining at university studies. They are not solely driven by the desire to gain more money. The third reason is social. This means that students go to university for the social life. Levy discusses that the reason for why these students have this motivation is due to them living close to the campus or still living with their parents at home. He later discusses that they were unlikely to progress beyond the first year of university a number of them realised that university is not about partying, it is all about working hard. Levy discusses that students later revealed numerous motivations for attending to university, not just the common categories of vocational aspirations, scholastic or social opportunities. These motivations were quite separate from the other factors. Some students felt compelled into attending university not only by their parents but also their schools. Parents played a significant ... Reliability can be examined externally, Inter rater and Test Retest, as well as internally; which is seen in internal consistency reliability methods. It s best to establish inter rater reliability outside of the context of the study s measure. If the reliability is incorporated in the measure and is extremely low, this can cause serious issues for the researchers going forward. It is highly recommended that a pilot study be done to establish the inter rater reliability. It is also a good idea to periodically assess the inter rater reliability if the study will be conducted for an extensive amount of time. There is a difference in how to assess categorical versus continuous measures inter rater reliability. If the measure is a compilation of categories, then the researchers could have the raters mark each category that is applicable to the observations. From those selections, the research team should calculate the percentage of agreement among the raters. However, the research team could also calculate Cohen s Kappa, for a more stable percentage. Cohen s Kappa Cohen s Kappa states: where Pr(a) is the observed agreement among raters, and Pr(e) is the conjectural likelihood of chance agreement, using the observed data to calculate the probabilities of the raters hypothetically choosing each category. • 31. Lucinda Matlock Poem Analysis Lucinda Matlock A Step Closer to our Future Life may have some disappointing moments, however it is all recompensed with other joyful and unforgettable ones. It is sometimes worth suffering in order to learn to be a better person and pursue a happier lifestyle until death. In the poem Lucinda Matlock, by Edgar Lee Masters, Masters tells us about the long life of Lucinda Matlock. Along with the poem, we could see how Lucinda Matlock lived a long and wonderful life and she really enjoyed it, even though she experienced many harsh moments. As I read the poem, I learned how Lucinda Matlock grew up to be a strong and determined woman who worked as much as possible to have a good life. Just like Lucinda Matlock, many women today do their best and try to overcome the struggles in life to achieve having a successful future. All struggles, in one way or another, shape the person who you will become. A mediocre person wouldn t be able to find a solution to their problems and would allow the problems to swallow them whole and take over their lives. In comparison, a strong and determined person will know how to deal with a problem and will work and get done what s needed to continue living life to the fullest. In Lucinda Matlock , we can visualize how Lucinda had many moments of suffering, but at the end, she didn t regret a single moment. Life is too strong for you / It takes life to love Life (Line 21 22). In these lines, Edgar Lee Masters, in the voice of Lucinda Matlock, they tell the reader that it is needed to experience life with both the ups and downs in order to see that in reality our lives were as good as they could be. Ere I had reached the age of sixty./ I spun, I wove, I kept the house, I nursed the sick... (Lines 10 11). In this quote, Masters demonstrates us a determined and strong woman who at 60 years old was still working hard to keep herself on her feet and care for herself and her loved ones. At ninety six I had lived enough, that is all,/ And passed to a sweet repose (Lines 16 17). Her determination and strength helped her reach 96 years and by that age, she was comfortable with death, knowing that she had a good life. Hukou refers to permanent residency status and can be extremely hard to get in major cities since it is tie to benefit levels, which differ across provinces and between urban residents and rural residents. An urban hukou provides a relatively comprehensive system of health care and retirement pensions in that particular city, while a rural hukou a much lower standard of welfares. Furthermore, data shows hukou also significantly affects people s labor market return and wages through its influence on their return to education. Individuals human capital was largely determined by the place (rural versus urban) where they were born and received their education, which highlights the role of China s rural urban divide in shaping people s labor market return. From 1980 to 2010, China relied on a uniquely successful investment and export led development model for its 30 year miracle of double digit GDP growth. However, to make rapid industrialization possible, China directed most of its investments to the cities, financed massive urban infrastructure and development projects. In result of ... The forces of supposed good and evil come to clash with the persistent battle between Dr. Frankenstein and his monster. But America s pastime, along with America s past, have both been saturated with the brutal force of racism. For hundreds of years, from the time of slavery until the middle of the 20th century, African American children rounded up their friends and headed to the baseball diamond. There, for thousands of young black players, the smell of the grass, the cloud of dust that formed when running the ninety feet between bases, and the feeling of safely sliding into homeplate for a run marked the glimmer of fun and excitement in an otherwise dreary day. Smith (1993) described the approach to customer satisfaction taken at Motorola. It is based on two conclusions derived from various studies: A product is built in the shortest time and at the lowest cost if no mistake is made in the process; and if no defect can be found anywhere in the process of building a product for the customer, then the customer probably will not find one either. Six sigma is a way to measure the probability of manufacturing a product or creating a service with zero defects (Behara et. al.1995). In 1995, General Electric CEO Jack Welch directed the company to undertake Six Sigma as a Corporate initiative, with a corporate goal to be a Six Sigma company by the year 2000 (Hendricks, Kelbaugh,1998). These four including many other factors have had a substantial influence on the way I view society. Growing up, I didn t always conform to the normal little girl ways set by my society. I had Barbie dolls but I also had PokГ©mon, Dinosaurs, and Ninja turtle toys. The social gender norm for girls would be tea parties and Barbie dolls, while boys would have dinosaurs and car toys. Literary Analysis Of Their Eyes Were Watching God Literary Analysis Paper #4 Their Eyes Were Watching God Abid Ahmad November 15, 2017 Our emotions are the single most human characteristics that we possess, making them nearly impossible to encapsulate. The oppression that some of us might face may seem so great that a limitless lexicon still won t suffice in order to convey our feelings. Similarly, the eternal feeling of love, an intangible force that drives many of us in our actions sometimes will never receive the justice it deserves through concrete diction. Rather, sometimes the only way to convey such internal feelings is by externalizing it in our environment. Zora Neil Hurston does this in her novel Their Eyes Were Watching God. She does this on every level, ranging from very broad and general symbols that can be tweaked to different situations, to very specific images that convey an in depth and singular message. This range allows Hurston to work her metaphors through each situation on almost every sentence, while still flooding the novel with sensory detail. This integration between symbolism and nature is essential in bringing the book to life. Using ever lasting images of the sun, trees, and animals as analogies allow the reader to fully visualize the beauty in the ambience of Hurston s novel. These extended metaphors serve the dual purpose of fascinating imagery, while adding to the diverse and dynamic tone of the book. Society s social bonds now centred around the fact that people were dependant on each other for the good and services required in their day to day lives. I will try to give my classmates a better understanding about the way this culture lives, in what is to them a new land. Undocumented immigrants is the culture that I chose to write about in my paper. When I use the term undocumented immigrants, I am referring to all those that are living in the United States with no legal documentation. The undocumented immigrant might have to make a sacrifice and leave their family behind in their country when making the journey to the United States. But there are several things that cannot be left behind no matter where he or she goes to. One of those many things is their cultural tradition. For many, going to church and praying to God is an important tradition passed down from generation to generation. In Detained and Deported, Mariana is a great example of this tradition. Regan describes her as a devout Christian who had very little time to herself between school, work and church (Regan, 2015, p.46). When she was detained she started singing hymns and praying to her God (Regan, 2015, p.247). • 56. Essay on The Tragedy of Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea The Tragedy of Wide Sargasso Sea In Jean Rhys novel Wide Sargasso Sea, whether Antoinette Cosway really goes mad in the end is debatable. Nevertheless, it is clear that her life is tragic. The tragedy comes from her numerous pursuits for love and a sense of belonging, and her failure at each and every one of these attempts. As a child Antoinette, is deprived of parental love. Her father is a drunkard and has many mistresses and illegitimate children. According to Daniel Cosway s account, old Cosway is cruel to his own son. Yet even if Daniel was not really a Cosway, and his descriptions were made out of spite, or if old Cosway had cared any more for his legitimate children than his bastard ones, his alcoholism is real, and ... They didn t look at us, nobody see them come near us. Old time white people nothing but white nigger now, and black nigger better than white nigger (10; part 1). Tia represents not only herself but the general native community. They hate the Cosway widow and children because of their past slave ownership, and despise them for their lack of wealth. Indeed, it is this hostility that motivates the natives to set Coulibri on fire and drive the Masons (now that Annette has married Mr. Mason) out of the estate. Antoinette s removal from Coulibri is not only her first experience of dislocation, but also a serious emotional trauma. The place represents familiarity, and thus safety and identity to her. It is the place where she belongs; it is a kind and faithful friend. Now all that is lost to her With the experience of being ignored, betrayed, and deprived, she becomes more afraid of loss and danger, but longs even more to have something to hold dear and belong to.
