The document discusses research on gender differences in leadership abilities. Early research found men were more often in leadership positions and stereotyped as better leaders, while women were rarely seen in senior roles. However, as more women have entered the workforce and management over the past two decades, stereotypes have started to change. The research is still inconclusive, as some studies found small gender differences in leadership styles while others found gender does not affect leadership abilities. More recent research indicates people may perceive men and women leaders as more effective when they conform to traditional gender roles.

Employment Discrimination Faced by Muslim Women Wearing the Hijab: Explorator...SofiaAhmed14
This study tested the hypothesis that Muslim women who wear the hijab are disadvantaged in employment processes relative to their counterparts who do not wear the hijab. A meta-analysis synthesized the findings of seven studies published between 2010 and 2019. The sample-weighted, pooled estimate among the most internally valid, experimental studies suggested that the chances of being hired and so gainfully employed were 40% lower among Muslim women wearing the hijab than they were among, otherwise similar, Muslim women not wearing the hijab: relative risk (RR) = 0.60 within a 95% confidence interval (CI) of 0.54, 0.67. This religion-based discrimination effect was deemed hugely significant in human, public health and policy senses. Immigration trends suggest that millions of Muslim women in the west likely experienced such employment discrimination over the past generation, and millions more are bound to similarly suffer over the next generation if policy status quos are retained. It seems that much of the relatively greater employment discrimination experienced by Muslim women who wear the hijab is due largely to potential employers prejudicial reactions to the hijab itself. Practice and policy implications and future research needs are discussed.
It’s no secret that women have historically faced greater barriers than men when it comes to fully participating in the economy. Across geographies and income levels, disparities between men and women persist in the form of pay gaps, uneven opportunities for advancement, and unbalanced representation in important decision-making.

the evidence indicated that the two sexes are more alike tha.pdfhershbudhia1
the evidence indicated that the two sexes are more alike than different in the ways they lead.
much of this similarity is based on the fact that leaders, regardless of gender, perform similar
activities in influence others. that's their job and the two sexes do it equally well saying the sexes
are more alike than different sill means the two are not exactly the same.
saying the most common difference lies in leadership styles. women tend to use a more
democratic style. they encourage the participation of their followers and are willing to share their
positional power with others. in addition, women tend to influence others best through their ability
to be charmingly influential. men, on the other hand, tend to typically use a task-centered
leadership style. this approach includes directly activities of others and relying on their positional
power to control the organizations activities. but surprisingly , even this difference is blurred. all
things considered, when a woman is a leader in a traditionally male-dominated job ( such as that
of a police officer) , she tends to lead in a manner that is more task centered.
with an increased emphasis on teams, employee involvement, and interpersonal skills, democratic
leadership styles are more in demand. leaders need to be more sensitive to their followers needs
and more open in their communications; they need to build more trusting relationships. and many
of these factors are behaviors that women have typically grown up developing.
so what do you think? is there a difference between the sexes in terms of leadership styles? do
men or women make better leaders? would you prefer to work for a man or a woman? what's your
opinion?.

ABSTRACT
Women have made significant strides over the past half a century in terms of advancements into the workforce. However, it is well-documented that women occupy top executive positions in politics and industry much less frequently than men. Bias and discrimination against professional females could take place when members of a society hold certain stereotypes that are in contrast with the actual characteristics of these women. These stereotypes can prevent females from achieving their goals as a result of the expected social roles they have to uphold. This paper critically examined social role theory and gender stereotypes to explain a deeper motive as to why women to some extent are being underrepresented in leadership positions. Moreover, these literature review provided a comprehensive overview of gender discrimination barriers to leadership.

2. We’ve all heard the claims, the theories, and the speculation about the ways
leadership styles vary between women and men. Our latest survey data puts
some hard numbers into the mix.
Research has been undertaken to examine whether or not there are sex
differences in leadership. Until recently, leadership positions have
predominantly been held by men and men were therefore stereotyped to be
more effective leaders. Women were rarely seen in senior leadership
positions leading to a lack of data on how they behave in such positions.
However, due to current research and women becoming more prevalent in
the workforce over the past two decades, especially in management and
leadership positions, these stereotypes are changing and various conclusions
about gender effects on leadership are being made.
3. • The data from the primary literature on this topic is
inconclusive as the two main lines of research contradict one
another, the first being that there are small, but nevertheless
significant sex differences in leadership and the second being
that gender does not have an effect on leadership. It is
difficult to determine which line of research has more validity
as there is no conclusive evidence that supports one more
than the other. More research needs to be conducted as more
women are entering into higher level leadership positions and
as better research methodology becomes available.
4. • When studying perception and effectiveness of
men and women in leadership, in multiple
studies, found that men and women are
perceived better by subordinates and are seen as
more effective leaders when in positions in
accordance to traditional gender roles. A meta-
analysis conducted later yielded similar results in
which men and women are both perceived as
more effective leaders in stereotypical roles and
both are found ineffective in non-traditional roles
5. • Alice Eagly, a frontrunner in the research on
gender differences in leadership, found
through multiple studies that differences
between men and women are small and that
the overlap is considerable
