Women empowerment refers to creating an environment where women can make their own decisions for personal and social benefit. It provides women with self-worth, respect, dignity, and control over their lives both inside and outside of the home. Barriers to empowerment include traditional gender mentalities and societal pressures. The government has implemented various schemes to promote empowerment such as increasing access to cooking gas and electricity, loan programs for women's self-help groups, maternity leave, and programs focused on education, health, and safety for women and girls.
