medical facilities, modern medicines increased
life expectancy from 48 yrs in 1978 to 66 yrs by
2013. Likely to increase to 82 yrs by 2040 as per
ICMR

working. In urban areas 46% men 11% women

69% Indian houses don’t have elders. Rural 68%

5. It is a myth that children are not supporting
parents in rural area 78% elders in urban area
76% are supported by their children. Rural area
couples supporting each other is 13% in urban
area 15%. About 3% elders are supported by
grand children. Others 6% (6 Million) supported
by others like relatives, friends, neighbors and
elder care homes.
Urban elders are better educated. 65% rural
elders, 34% urban elders are illiterate. Heart
problems are more in urban male elders may be
due to lifestyle.

increasing constantly. It is the responsibility of rulers, planners,
thinkers, supporters, general public to make old age as gold age
through support activities for elders when no support from their
children

adding 1000 beds PA aim to develop 20000

Cr inflows PA with 25% margins + Rs. 250 Cr
