With the explosive growth in global data traffic, adoption of Wi-Fi enabled devices
and widespread availability of Wi-Fi networks, the operators around the world
are pursuing strategies to deliver seamless Wi-Fi connectivity as part of their
service mix and leveraging 3G Data Offload for network optimization.

WBA retains a strong operator heritage but its membership is open to all ecosystem
partners interested in enabling seamless Wi-Fi experience across technology, devices
and networks for the benefit of end-customers.
About WBA
WBA was founded in 2003 by a unique mix of Wi-Fi, mobile and broadband network
operators who viewed public Wi-Fi as a strategic complement to other networks
(3G/UMTS, CDMA, WiMAX, Cable, xDSL etc).

WBA: Mission & Objectives
 Facilitate adoption of Wi-Fi enabled services through improvements in user experience,
interoperability and service delivery across technologies, devices and networks.
Objectives of WBA
Ensure that all WBA activities bring benefits to end-customers while:
 Providing an open forum to Operators & Technology Partners for
developing enablers, facilitating technical trials and roaming and
creating opportunities to engage ecosystem and share learning.
 Cooperate with Industry Forums & Bodies to harmonize technical
specifications necessary for the seamless Wi-Fi experience across
technologies, devices and networks through liaison and collaboration
 Provide Media, Analysts and Regulators independent expert views
and commentary on existing and emergent issues concerning the Wi-
Fi enabled services and growth of the industry
 Enable End-users a smooth, consistent and quality Wi-Fi experience
