Winston Churchill was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II. He was born in 1874 in England and came from an aristocratic family. Churchill had a long political and military career before becoming Prime Minister in 1940. As Prime Minister during World War II, he helped lead Britain through the war and formed strong alliances with American President Roosevelt and Soviet leader Stalin. Churchill received widespread praise for his leadership during the war. He remained politically active after the war and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953. Churchill died in 1965 at the age of 90.
