Canaanite Woman
JESUS AND A CANAANITE WOMAN
The Bible told us that a Canaanite woman from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon came to Jesus for the
healing of her daughter. The daughter of these Canaanite woman was being tormented by demons and
she cried to Jesus to heal her daughter. These Canaanite woman was not a Hebrew Jew, but she was a
gentile, an outsider, because Jesus told her I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel,
meaning that She was not an Israelite Hebrew Jew. First, these Canaanite woman recognized that
Jesus is Lord, she said have mercy on me, O Lord, then secondly she addressed Him by His Messianic
title as the son of David, and thirdly she boldly and persistently cried out to Jesus to save her daughter
from a demonic bondage

Aboriginal Treatment Of Native People
The treatment of native peoples all around the world has been a major issue for generations. This
essay will show you how both the Indigenous Australians and Native Americans were treated from the
first settlement of white peoples in their land up until now. It will assess how the system worked, the
rights of the native peoples, why the system was the way it was, and how it impacted the world as a
whole.
The Australian constitution, made in 1901 states, in reckoning the numbers of people... The Aboriginal
Natives shall not be included. It also says that it will legislate (make laws for) any race other than the
Indigenous Australians. They were originally unable to vote, and were excluded from a range of
benefits such as, pensions and maternity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Native Americans were forced and paid to leave their traditional lands and either chose to hide
from or join the white people by living on reserves. Their native tongue, teachings and traditions were
soon to be extinct and one man named Ishi and his family went around trying to pass on their culture
to the new inhabitants of their land, The whites. Unfortunately, Ishi died not long after, a subject of
disease. And thanks to his efforts and the efforts of people all around America, white people began to
rally against the government alongside the natives. Native Americans were granted the same rights as
any other American in 1924 and were soon merged in with the rest of society.
In both cases, after a long, hard battle against the white settlers on their land, the Indigenous
Australians and Native American have finally been granted the rights they deserve and have been
accepted by society as a whole. Although, some people may stick to the old mindset, unable to move
on and appreciate the natives of the land on which they stand. They are, after all, the traditional

Why Our Brain s False Memory
Have you ever remembered something that you were 100% positive actually happened, when indeed
did not happened at all? According to scientists, the occurrence of such false memories is quite
common, so you re not alone. The question of why our brain creates these false memories, has not
been answered yet, but is not a fact. This in fact happened to a young boy named Jim. Jim, had a vivid
flashbulb memory from his childhood of a day his parents won the lottery. He remembered everything
about that day, where he was sitting, and what board game he and his siblings were playing when they
heard the news. Recently, Jim discovered that he was completely wrong about what happened that day
and none of those things actually happened.
As your eyes and ears are taking light and sound they are being turned into electronic signals to the
brain, which has to construct a version of what is being seen to makes sense. Memory is an integrated
constructive process that is constantly refining, rebuilding, reconstructing, and finding any types of
short cuts, and it sometimes make mistakes. Examples how your brain can misinterpret what it s
seeing are things such as, optical illusions, blind spots, and hallucinations. ... Show more content on

Encoding happens as an event is occurring, your brain is taking all the sights, smells, and sounds
around you, and storing them in your short term memory. Consolidation is the next step and it is the
transfer from short term to long term memory over the course of time. This can take hours, weeks, or
even years. The last step in creating memories is retrieval, it is the moment when you remember
something. Sometimes you might fully remember everything so you are left filling in all the little
pieces and it can change the whole memory

London Heathrow Airport
London Heathrow Airport. London s Heathrow is one of the world s busiest airports. It is used by over
90 airlines flying to 170 destinations worldwide. The airport has five passenger terminals and a cargo
terminal. In the 1950s, Heathrow had six runways, now it has just two parallel runways running east
west. Heathrow has witnessed strong growth over recent decades, currently handling 68 million
passengers and 477,000 flights a year compared to around 48 million passengers and 427,000 flights a
year in 1996. In the absence of any increase in runway capacity, this growth has resulted in Heathrow
s runways operating at around 99% capacity compared to its main European competitors which

Technological improvements are vital to improving fuel efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions.
There have already been significant changes over the last decades in the efficiency of aircraft, which
are today 70 per cent more efficient than the first commercial jets. The cost of aviation fuel has
provided a strong incentive to operators and manufacturers to increase efficiency. This, together with a
need to meet internationally agreed aircraft standards related to emissions and noise, has resulted in
British aerospace companies investing a significant percentage of their annual research and
development budgets on environmental technologies. The next generation of aircraft, including the
Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A350 and Bombardier C Series, are 20% more fuel efficient per
passenger kilometer than current generation aircraft. This is primarily achieved through more fuel
efficient engines and lighter airframes and supporting structures made of composite materials but is
also achieved through more aerodynamic shapes, winglets, a one piece fuselage and more advanced
computer systems for optimizing routes and loading of the aircraft. Route optimization is another way
to reduce CO2 emissions. Currently, air traffic corridors that aircraft are forced to follow place
unnecessary detours on an aircraft s route forcing higher fuel burn and an increase in emissions. An
improved Air Traffic Management System with more direct routes and optimized cruising

Medieval Vs. Medieval Era
The Medieval, or Middle, Ages in Europe have often been called the Dark Ages, since they seem to
have been lacking in many ways. However, the Church was always shining the light of the Gospel in
even the darkest of places. In the very bosom of this doomed society, a power remained which was
capable of giving meaning to the drama, of bringing order out of disorder, of integrating the
Barbarians into civilization and of using their youthful energies to restore the world to vigor and
health. This power, to which the West owes its salvation, was the Church.1 Medieval Europe was, in
many ways, more Christian then, than it is now. The Medieval era can be divided into three parts: the
Early Ages, the High Ages, and the Late Ages. Each had its own achievements, shortcomings, and
beliefs, but they are all inextricably linked. Though the Middle Ages have been called Dark, they
always had the light of the Church shining in them.
The Early Ages started in 476 A.D. with the fall of Rome to barbarian tribes. The Popes from that time
on had to run everything themselves, due to a lack of support from Byzantium, the eastern part of the
empire. Severed from Byzantium, and with Rome in the hands of the Barbarians, the West had only
itself on whom it could rely.2 The countries of Europe now began to heal from the inside out. Ireland
started this with saints such as Patrick, Brigit, and Columbanus, who spread new ideas of Christianity,
such as private penance, throughout Europe.

Analysis Of Catcher In The Rye And The Secret Garden
What makes her coming of age narrative distinctive is that she does not set out as a naive or innocent
character. Instead, her entire life up until she arrives at Misselthwaite Manor has been a harsh reality: a
child abandoned and neglected by her mother as she is left under the care of servants, later losing
everything she has previously known due to an outbreak of cholera.
Narration
Despite the similarities between Catcher in the Rye and The Secret Garden, the narrators of the works
vastly differ. Holden Caulfield himself narrates his experiences leading up to the mental institution in
a colloquial first person. As a first person narrator, Holden s reliability has to be called into question.
Given that Holden is a narrator who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of alienating readers, it draws them even closer to Holden. Holden s voice and his coming of
age journey are inseparable. In contrast, the story of The Secret Garden is told through an opinionated
third person narrator. The narrator does not recount events passively, but instead inserts his or her own
voice and opinions such as how Mary was a tyrannical and selfish a little pig as ever lived into the
narrative (Burnett 1). In a sense, the narrator serves as a guide in Mary s venture into adolescence
during a period when Mary herself may not fully comprehend her transformation. To contextualize
this change, the narrator often turns to physical descriptions as opposed to mental ones. As the
children mature and develop, their appearance and vitality heal as they progressively begin to
resemble regular, healthy children. As mentioned by the narrator, [Colin] was coming alive with the
garden (Burnett 202). Despite the reliability of the narrator, Mary s personal growth is omitted from
the narrative and readers are left with only the physical development and dialogue between characters.
Consequently, the information given by the narrator is the sole insight readers have into Mary s state
and her psychological state is left for interpretation.
Role of Caretakers In addition, the role of the caretaker is significant in both coming of age

do things that are unbelievably, the advances throughout the years made are everyday life easier, now
with one look to a phone can unlock it, which only happens on a Iphone. Most people are always

However, updates aren t always the best. Sometimes just trying the new details can make you
understand why things are done a way. For example in the iphone industry to get an app it was always

Characteristics Of Bluefin Tuna
There are many interesting species of ocean fish. Possibly one of the most economically important,
diverse, and interesting species is the tuna. Different species in general have different physical
characteristics and appetite. However, across the different species, there are similar migration patterns
and fishing techniques. There are five primary kinds of tuna: Bluefin, Yellowfin, Long Tail, Albacore,
and Big Eye.
While some characteristics are similar among the different species of tuna, in general each species is
distinct. The Bluefin tuna, Thunnus thynnus, is the biggest of the species. They can reach astonishing
sizes and average ...up to 1500 pounds and...6 10 feet long. (World Wildlife Fund 1) The Bluefin tuna
are built like torpedoes. With traits like retractable fins and eyes that are set flush to their body, they
were made for speed. They have the longest life span, living up to forty years. The next largest is the
Big Eye tuna, Thunnus obesus. They are long and streamlined. They have a distinct coloration to
protect thenselves from predators. In order to avoid predators from above, they have dark metallic
blue on their backs and upper sides. Likewise, to avoid predators from below, they are nearly white on
their lower sides and belly. Their two sided coloration allows for then to blend in the with their
background waters. While smaller than the Bluefin, they can still reach an enormous size. They can

No Love for Animals in Sea World
Charles Darwin once said, the love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man. If only
Darwin had been alive to witness the secrets of the well known marine mammal theme park known as
SeaWorld, he would have been as appalled as many have been discovering these hidden secrets. One
of the major issues with SeaWorld is animal captivity. It serves as a profitable way for people to see
and enjoy wild animals, but through the captivity it can transform harmless animals into violent,
agitated monsters in some cases. The defenseless animals, such as the killer whales at Seaworld, are
deprived of their family, lives and freedom, which can lead to exceptional aggression. Many people
that visit SeaWorld or know of the theme park believe that it is just a welcoming marina and a great
place to take family to see wild animals and the remarkable shows that the killer whales present.
Clearly many people do not realize the truth behind what SeaWorld is doing to these poor animals. For
starters, captive marine animals are robbed of most everything that is natural to them such as living in
a family pod and swimming up to a hundred miles each day. Obviously these necessities cannot be
met within the small enclosures where the killer whales live. Another less known fact about SeaWorld
is that it lowers animals life spans quite drastically. Orca whales live on an average of thirty to fifty
years in the wild and some can live to ninety, but the average age for orcas in

Mr. Harris In Barn Burning
In William Faulkner s Barn Burning , there is no evidence for Abner Snopes burning Mr. Harris barn,
but the court still gives a ruling. Abner does not have to pay Mr. Harris for reparations, but is still
exiled. With Abner s reactions before and after burning Mr. Harris barn and his family s current
situation, the Justice of Peace made a fair ruling of exiling Abner. Because the amount of damages
caused by Abner, the family can not afford to pay Mr. Harris back with their limited funds. Abner has
a wiry figure, so he is not very well fed (Faulkner 182). In the family s wagon, there are broken beds
and chairs with a non working clock, which shows Abner can not afford to buy replacements for these
and other items as a farmer (183). Abner debts keep increasing, even his new landlord, Major de
Spain, tells Abner he never had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abner s job before being exile only allowed him to owe more than he had, so when de Spain says
Abner never will have the money, it shows that Abner s financial problems are still the same and will
not change (185, 189). Faulkner also describes Abner as one who had in his blood and inherent
voracious prodigality with material not his own (184). Prodigality means wastefully extravagant, so
Abner tends to lust after lavish items or an lavish lifestyle that he can not obtain. If anything, some of
the better items he have are stolen (184). He can not afford his own horses; most of them are what he
calls, captured horses which are actually stolen from both Confederate and Union armies during the
Civil War (184). Abner also makes shrewd fires instead of making bigger ones as he does with the
barn. The small fires represents his low status during the war as a thief and during the present as a
farmer/ barn burner (182, 184). In

Questions On Accounting And Auditing Issues
Introduction:
After visiting the company, we found some accounting and auditing issues that come to our attention.
So we prepared a memo for Mr. Kovacs as a result of our visit to make him be aware of these potential
problems.
Accounting issues:
The owners of the company believe that WHCL will be poised to be a major player in the Canadian
and the US heating and cooling markets in three years. However, after collecting information and
auditing all the financial statement, we found that there is numerous issues need to be concerned for
WHCL in recent years.
1. Covenants:
We can notice that in the early fiscal 2000, WHCL increased its debt significantly, and the company
had attached several covenants specifying that debt to equity ratio ... Show more content on

But this would certainly increase the audit risk. If the company has violated the covenants, the auditor
should disclose that in the financial statement.
Exhibit 1 Current Ratio Debt To Equity Ratio
1999 1347/895=1.505 1420/1257=1.12
2000 1446/1149=1.25 1974/1007=1.96
2. Warranty (Estimated Expense):
In 1994, WHCL introduced a new model of gas furnace and these products are sold with ten year
warranties on parts and labor. Although this marketing strategy can attract more customers to buy their
product, the increased long term warranty claims will increase company s warranty expense, and
lower their future profit.
The most serious accounting problem for WHCL is the warranty potential liability. The increasing
liability concern is because WHCL sold a new model of gas furnace with 10 year warranties in 1994.
So we need to consider how much repair costs should be reported in the 2000 financial statements. As
we know, cost of repairing each furnace was $150, and there are 30 claims were made. So we need to
record 30 x $150=$4500 in warranty expenses in 2000 financial statement. Another problem for us is
the information we currently collect cannot let us make an accurate estimate. Apparently, WHCL don t
want to record too much costs in current period, but the fact is they require a large amount of accrual.
If the estimate is low, then the costs we

Voting Observations
Poll Watching Observations Democracy has always been one of America s most treasured assets. We
have the opportunity to vote for whomever we want, regardless of race, gender, or party. We have the
right to say what we feel and even take discourse upon that action. However, it is important to realize
that the institution of voting is not as perfect as it seems. There are several problems, that when looked
at closely, expose the flaws in our system. This is what I observed when I went poll watching at early
voting polling places during the 2016 presidential election. As I was watching different people come
to vote, I saw how problems which seemed trivial in the moment could actually pose serious threats.
The incident that stuck with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several ways that the system can be abused to corrupt the integrity of the election process.
People s votes can be undermined and others can play the system. However, despite all of this, many
people still consider voting to be a crucial aspect of the entire process and come out in droves to voice
their opinion and take a stand on issues. Thus, if I have learned anything from this project it is that
while the system may be flawed, it still gives us a voice in how we would like to be governed, an
opportunity that others would die to

Summary Of The Working Poor
Michael James Ms. Phelps Pols 210 02 The Working Poor Essay The Working Poor is a story of hard
times in our lives, that can vary in times of the poor struggles, middle class struggles, and just overall
all struggles of everyday people whom have difficult times in their lives. In this reading we found
there were difficult things happening to people in this book in different chapters and nothing really
had a positive note from what the basis of the story had led us to believe. There is some of this story
where its chapter talks about money and how it is breaking down people s lives simply with all aspects
that are fairly difficult with money; such as income tax as its goes into how the people cannot do their
tax returns or pay their taxes, people being scammed out their money, little to no trust in banks, and it
even mentions certain tax company in its efforts to stress the difficulties faced. Another speaks on
some people life stories Ms. Christine, Ms. Debra Hall, and Ms. Caroline Payne. These women faced
many difficulties that it speaks about and it almost becomes a consideration to be a biography in the
story in this chapter really. Later in the chapters it brings on some hardships on the men in the story
where some of these men make difficult decisions and they are not good to be honest they bring
hardship to their families to the next level because these are times where men should have been
considered the workers while they had a wife whom did house work and natured the

The Fall of Enron
Case: The Fall of Enron
1. Why was Enron such an admired company prior to 2000? What innovation do they bring to the
table? Be specific and support your statement with concrete information.
Enron was an admired company prior to 2000 because at that time it surfaced as a frontrunner in the
deregulated energy market, making it possible to sell energy at higher prices, thus significantly
increasing its revenue. The company, through efficient management team, has built leading businesses
in energy trading and international energy asset construction. The company has managed to maintain

The company was constantly emphasizing its stock price. The policy of stock option awards caused
management to create potential situations of rapid growth in efforts to give the appearance of reported
earnings to meet Wall Street s expectations. Although Enron s compensation and performance
management system was designed to retain and reward its most valuable employees, the system
contributed to a dysfunctional corporate culture that became interested only in short term profits to
maximize bonuses. In addition, accounting results were recorded as soon as possible to keep up with
the company s stock price. This practice helped ensure deal makers and executives received large cash
bonuses and stock options.
Enron s auditor firm was accused of applying thoughtless standards in its audits because of a conflict
of interest. The firm was generating a large amount of money for its consulting fees for Enron. The
firm s methods where questioned when it seemed as though the reports were completed only for the
annual fees to be collected. Furthermore, it was also criticized for lack of experience in reviewing the
files.
The Enron board of directors failed to closely analyze market trends, which would have led to better
decisions being made when it came to acquisitions and mergers. Because of this the company found it

Important Place In My Life
One of the most important places in my life is a quiet place in Cook County, Illinois.
That place would be a cemetery called St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. To many, this may be a weird
place to choose, but to me it is a safe place to vent and think. You see, St. Mary is the resting place of
my mother, Kimberly Bitsie. Those reasons, are why it is the most important place in my world.
Cook County is not a place I have ever lived, but my family and I try to visit as often as we can. My
Dad, little brother and I usually try visit once every two to three years, because we visit our
grandparents while in Illinois. When we visit though, we always try to make time to visit the cemetery
because we don t know the next we will be able to see her. It s about a thirty five minute drive from
my grandparent s house, but it s worth the drive. We spend on average thirty to forty minutes at the
cemetery. Before we go into the cemetery, we always stop by this one store near the cemetery, that
sells flower and decorations, to buy a spinner to put on mom s grave. I was only four when my mom
died of cancer, and I only have a few memories of her. So, being able to visit and try to connect is
what makes it special to me. When we go to visit the cemetery, it is usually around midday. Unlike
other cemeteries I have seen or visited, this cemetery I would put on the better side of the list, with
upkeep and location. When you first drive into the cemetery, you see a big gate and a beautiful stone

Ecclesiastes Act 2 Passage Analysis
Four Scripture Passages 2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV): But He said to me, My grace is succicient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my
weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. This passage of Scripture was written by
the apostle Paul as he was reflecting upon the thorn of his flesh. Paul had entreated the Lord asking
why he was burdened with such an affliction, but the Lord answered that [His] grace is sufficient and
was using Paul s suffering to further His purpose. The Lord was teaching Paul that suffering can be
used and that although at times suffering may seem that it is too much to bear, this suffering is actually
being used by the Lord to help grow His people. Paul s thorn was used to prevent him from becoming
conceited at the knowledge of how much the Lord had revealed to him and how much the Lord was
using him (2 Cor. 12:7 9). Ecclesiastes 7:17 (ESV): Be not overly wicked, neither be a fool. Why

Yuraba Motherhood
In her article Is Female to Male as Nature is to Culture, anthropologist, Sherry Ortner claims that
woman is being identified with [. . .] something that every culture devalues [. . .] and that is nature
(10). I would like to extend Ortner s argument and claim that Spirited Away also associates working
motherhood with nature, thus devaluing Yubaba s role as a working mother in Japanese society. We
can see this devaluation from the very beginning when Chihiro and her family drive into the forest that
hides the bathhouse. Since Yubaba lives and works in the bathhouse, the forest also removes her from
society and hides her lifestyle. The remoteness of the forest and hiding depicts her lifestyle as a

In the film, we see Yubaba adores Bo through her immediate change in tone of voice from rasping to
cheerful when she speaks to him. Furthermore, she rushes immediately to comfort him when he cries
and when she realizes he has gone missing, Yubaba s torment is depicted through her breathing fire
out of her mouth. Yubaba s fire breathing depiction emphasizes Yubaba s overprotectiveness of Bo,
showing her strong valuing of his presence. However, this strong valuing of Bo s presence shows Bo
is being used (Hatcher, 122). Because society strongly associates the female identity with being caring
and nurturing (Ueno, 15), Yubaba loses part of her identity when Bo is taken from her she loses the
person who depends on her the most and who gives her life purpose. Thus, we can see why she cares
about him so much and goes through great extents to protect him, like covering Bo s room with an
immense amount of pillows and padding. Yubaba also prevents Bo from going out, which we find out
when Bo accuses Chihiro of trying to make him sick: You came in here to make me sick [. . .] you ll

refugees fleeing from oppression. Immigration is an ideal that has remained a topic of discussion for
years due to the positives and negatives of it. While immigration may have some negatives, it is my
view that immigration is a necessity for the United States because of its roots in Catholic social
teaching, effects on economy, and the need for basic rights of individuals to obtain a better life. When
dealing with immigration one must not just view it as an economic factor but must understand that
immigration is an issue within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Catholic bishops further their explanation of the freedom to move lands when they reference that
ownership or duration have no privilege in regard to who s land is who s. The Bishops state that, the
native does not have superior rights over the immigrant. Before God all are equal; the earth was given
by God to all. When a person cannot achieve a meaningful life in his or her own land, that person has
the right to move (Catholic Bishops).
The next principle touched upon is the right of a country to regulate its boarders and control
immigration. This principle is grounded in the belief that people have the right to move but no country
is bound by anything to accept those that want to resettle there. This principle also brings to light the
reasons for immigrants fleeing which is normally for somber reasons as they are fleeing from an
unsafe place. This illustrates that many immigrants are coming from a bad situation which is not
looked highly upon in Catholic social teaching as it goes against the common good to have bad areas .
The Catholic Bishops comment on the idea of immigration as a whole explaining that, catholic social
teaching is realistic: While people have the right to move, no country has the duty to receive so many
immigrants that its social and economic life are jeopardized . The final principle brings together
principles one and two, which tend to contradict one another. Principle three states that a country must
regulate it s borders with

Paget Disease Studies
Hi Gi Hwa Shin, I appreciate your presentation on paget disease because you topic challenged me to
review the literatures and recent studies. I did not see any patient with paget disease, even though it
would be a good experience to share my knowledge.
Paget disease is a chronic condition characterised by lesions of bone resulting from disordered
remodelling in which excessive bone resorption initially results in lytic lesions followed by
disorganized and excessive bone formation (Gracia et al 2012).
The etiology of paget s disease of bone (PDB) is unknown, but I would consider the influence of
hereditary and environmental factors in paget disease. A viral cause has been proposed based upon

Vampirism Research Paper
Throughout history, vampirism and werewolfism have been the basis of most horror stories but some
people believe they have come across these mythical creatures. An example of a werewolf sighting is
that of Lorianne Endrizzi in the autumn of 1989 in Wisconsin, USA. She was driving on Bray Road
where she thought someone was kneeling at the side of the road. She slowed down and the figure
stared at her from six feet away from her car. The creature was coated head to toe with grey and brown
hair, with large fangs and sharp ears. She stated to a reporter that his face was long and had a snout,
like a wolf. The figure s eyes apparently glowed in the darkness and they were a yellow gold colour.
Lorianne further reported that The arms were kind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually, the werewolf turns back into a human at sunrise, with no recall of the previous night s
actions. Lycanthropy is a clinical name given to werewolves in fiction, but is also a medical term
referring to someone who is under the influence that they are a wolf (The Brain Bank North West
2012).
Some medical theories concerning the origin of werewolves are based around porphyria which is a
disease that effects the skin and nervous system, the same disease linked to the vampire myth. Some
victims of porphyria display the fang canine look caused by the corrosion of the gums. Furthermore,
following exposure to light, the healing blisters on the skin often grow a thin layer of hair (The Brain
Bank North West 2012).
Wolves are carriers of the lupine parvovirus (LPV), and it is suggested that the virus is responsible for
lycanthropy. LPV infected wolves are resistant to environmental trauma, including digestive enzymes,
making it much easier to spread through contaminated food and water sources. Wolves infect humans
through biting and after infection, there is a period of high fever, chills and other flu like symptoms,
and the victim is likely to experience extreme dehydration and itching as their metabolism and heart
rate increase (Hugo Pecos and Robert Lomax

Essay on Rodin s Study for Falling Man and The Kiss
Rodin s Study for Falling Man and The Kiss
In Study for Falling Man Rodin used a fluid, supple motion to arch the figure s back, throwing the
body into a dramatic curve. His understanding of anatomy echoes that of Michelangelo, whose works
enthralled Rodin, as he wrote: My liberation from academism was effected by Michelangelo.
Rodin s The Kiss is a representation of the story of Paolo, the brother of Gianciotto, and Francesca,
Gianciotto s wife, in Dante s book The Divine Comedy: Inferno. They fell in love while reading
romances of courtly love and after exchanging their first kiss,
Gianciotto caught them by surprise and stabbed them.
Rodin being an impressionist created the sculpture in true human form.

The passionate love of Francesca da Rimini and Paolo Malatesta was a theme which Rodin used to
inspire The Kiss. Although it was originally intended to be part of the Gates of Hell, Rodin did not feel
that it fit and removed the figures to make them an individual statue. The form of the lovers emerges
from the highlights and shadows of the statue. Light and shade were used by Rodin to create an
impression of actuality. The convulsive contraction of the toes on the man s right foot and the
tenseness of his hand in contrast to the woman s thigh. Such details reveal much of the passion that
inflames the lovers, but they reveal it with taste and refinement.
Rodin s sculpture combined both the realistic and romantic tendencies present in French society at the
time. In his work he aimed to capture and represent inner feeling and the subsequent state of mind.
Rodin was a believer in the power of art. He believed that art was on par with religion and that
through art you could say all that could be said about the relationship between man and the world.
Rodin also wanted nature to be the influence behind his work, but was more interested in the
simplicity and beauty of the natural form of the human body
His subject as in all his work is the human form. His style tends to vary between either a deliberate
roughness of form to a very polished and delicate approach of modelling the body. When I saw the

The Outsiders Movie And Book Comparison
Some comparisons can be made about the advantages and disadvantages of The Outsiders medium.
Comparison will be made between character development, detail, rushing, and audio. In the book
character Development is better because it explains the character history. The book explains the back
story more in detail and the movie doesn t say anything about their history at all. Also the movie doesn
t progres their stories that good like example: Ponyboys in the book you know his thoughts but in the
movie you don t know them. The movie movie didn t show that good of background. The book talk
about the setting in good detail like the church that caught on fire. The book showed how it made a

Day and Night through a Mother s Eyes Essay
In Alice Walker s Everyday Use the reader is introduced to three main characters, a mother and her
two daughters. The first daughter, Maggie, still lives at home with her mother and is her companion.
Dee, however, moves on with life and goes out to make something of herself in the world. The story is
an account of one of Dee s visits, but the narrator, the mother, makes a very obvious comparison
between Dee and Maggie s looks, intelligence, behaviorism, and values. The reader has a lesson to
learn since the story is told through the mother s eyes. It is amazing that two siblings can grow up in
the same environment and turned out so differently. Dee and Maggie are like day and night, each with
her own strengths and weaknesses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she is jealous of her sister, Maggie more admires her than anything. It is, however, upsetting
that the narrator never suggests Dee has any admiration or respect for Maggie or herself, for that
matter. The story never even suggests that Dee feels sorry for Maggie, instead it can be interpreted that
Dee just looks down on her sister, as she does the rest of her family.
The reader can also learn about the girls from how they treat others. Just like everything else, they are
opposites. Dee would always look anyone in the eye. Hesitation was no part of her nature (92) while
Maggie walks chin on chest, eyes on ground, feet in shuffle (94). Mama also knows that while her
sister is there Maggie will be nervous and stand hopelessly in corners, homely and ashamed of the
burns scars down her arms and legs (92). While Maggie has always felt inferior, Dee seems haughty
and kind of has a superiority complex. Dee is also implied to be manipulative. Dee would read to her
mother and Maggie knowing it was literature beyond their comprehension just so she could show off.
She used to read to us without pit; forcing words, lies, other folks habits, whole lives upon us two. She
washed us in a river of make believe, burned us with a lot of knowledge we didn t necessarily need to
know (94). The phrase She read to them is repeated when talking about Dee around her friends and
boys that wanted to date her (95). However, in this context, it is hardly

The Debate Over the Idea of Drilling for Oil in the Arctic...
The Debate Over the Idea of Drilling for Oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Throughout American history, there have been a number of conflicts and disagreements among the
populace over various issues. These conflicts of interest help to define political parties and allow
people to distinguish themselves through party allegiance.
One such item that is currently being debated is over the idea of drilling for oil in the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge. For years, environmentalist groups and oil industry supporters have been
sparring over this stretch of land. And both sides have formed some pretty compelling arguments for
their beliefs. As of February 1, 2000, the United States has imported roughly 10.5 million of ... Show

went unhindered, many ANWR drilling supporters believe that the new project would single handedly
be able to supply the nation s oil for a full three years and create upwards of 750,000 new jobs. These
beliefs are being stringently refuted by environmentalist groups, however. Ever since the August 2nd
vote in the House, which approved of the ANWR project on President Bush s Energy Bill,
environmentalism activists have been in an uproar.
As CorpWatch puts it: As we hurtle into the twenty first century, oil is still King. But it does not rule
benevolently. Rather, the reign of those who control the politics of petroleum continues to undermine
democracy while generating human rights violations and environmental disasters across the Earth.
And with that, many associated with the
Democratic left, have been contesting the Teamsters stated facts.
In a New York Times article from September 2nd, the League of Conservation
Voters had shown that the alleged 750,000 new jobs that would be created by the ANWR project, were
over exaggerated by far. A study done earlier by Dean Baker, co director of the Center of Economic

The rise and fall of the Royal Bank of Scotland is characterized by poor corporate governance which

massive principal agent problem. Positive social dynamics and the power of weak ties allowed for
compliance while intimidation and bullying tactics silenced questions, concerns and opposition. The

Talks about the legality of the merger delayed the sale of ABN, during which the housing market
situation worsened and analysts warned that the crisis was spreading up investment chain. During this
time, Goodwin admitted that RBS is involved in subprime mortgage trading but only minimally17.
Here we see a failure of the board to look at management critically. They accepted only the
information presented to them by the CEO and did not demand a better picture on the state of RBS s
business in mortgage trading even while the CEO s story seemed to constantly be changing. The board
exists as a watchdog to the executive management yet nothing was done to hold the CEO accountable
to the truth.
Meanwhile, Goodwin ignored warnings of the worsening crisis while at the same time failing to
conduct a due diligence assessment of ABN s assets and in October 2007 the consortium secured the
takeover for €71bn18,19. The deal was unanimously approved by the RBS board and the payment
made in cash from the bank s reserves. This led to a fatal mismatch of the long term assets and short
term liabilities.
By December it had become apparent that ABN was heavily entrenched in exposure to subprime loans
and RBS lost over £1.5bn20. Despite repeated denials that RBS would not have to resort to inorganic
capital growth, Goodwin confirmed they would sell £12bn in new shares a couple months later21.

The High Cost Of Samsung s Competition In The Electronics...
After a little over a decade since its establishment, Samsung, who was once a small business focusing
on exporting perishables is now one of the biggest manufacturing company in the world that revenue
of over $167 Billion. From an economic perspective, as technology changes becoming more efficient,
it gives other companies the ability to compete in manufacturing the products. As the electronics
industry continues to grow, more companies are competing with Apple. As of today, Samsung is one
of the largest competitors to Apple. Both companies are trying to win the technology market,
especially smartphones since they launched their own line of smartphones Samsung Galaxy in June
2009 and the iPhone in June 2007.
One of the reasons Samsung s still in this game of tug of war with Apple is Samsung s capability in
manufacturing their own components for the Galaxy smartphones. This gives them a rather strong
grasp on cost advantage compared to Apple. Even Apple uses a Samsung manufactured processors,
NAND flash and DRAM memory chips since the beginning (Forbes, 2016), which is why we see a
rather higher selling price for Apple s iPhone due to their cost to their supplier, Samsung. One way for
Apple to win over this is to attract Samsung loyal customers, who are said to be more price conscious,
by creating an inexpensive iPhone in a long run like the iPhone 5c that was discontinued at the end of
2015.
However, even if Samsung had this cost advantage over Apple, Apple is still

As the main character, Hamlet presents the audience with an image of the renaissance man, one who
offers insights into how one might deal with complex emotions such as love and grief. The audience
follows Hamlet on his journey to avenge his father s death, which was brought about by his late father
s brother, Claudius, the current reigning king. The story clearly centres around the ever hesitant prince
and his struggle to enact his revenge. It is Hamlet s procrastination and inability to act that drives the
story to its disastrously orchestrated end. Despite all his faults, the audience
feels a sense of affection for the young prince and connect with him on a level that is unavailable
with the other characters. It is in this connection that the interest of the audience is captured, such that
one can almost experience his joy and his grief, or his jealousy and love, all things that are

Examples Of Chivalry In Medieval Literature
When one speaks of the knights of old, one must always speak of the Chivalric Code, that law by
which all knights, at least those spoken of in legend and Arthurian myth, abided. First spoken of in
The Song of Roland, the Chivalric Code details a specific set of guidelines and regulations that
knights had to maintain in order to keep the peace throughout the realm in which they abided. In lines

Based on the agency and its policy for waste management and disposal of low level radioactive waste,
I believe that interest groups such as those dealing with business and economic growth would be
likely to support its elimination. Examples of such interest groups might be ones supporting the
Ameren Corporation, or BP of America. I say this because they would consider such an agency as a
nuisance and won t help them support their business of production through the strict rules and
regulations. In opposition, interest groups that would probably support the continuation of this agency
would be those that favor the environment and its relative protection, an example of such would be the
ones representing the City of Dallas, Texas which has the responsibility of caring for the welfare of its

agency would be eliminated, there would be a pile up of such waste, as 90% if relative waste is that of

had so much blood in him (V, I, 25 29). Macbeth also has his share of hallucinations steaming from
guilt beginning with a bloody dagger that appears to him after he murders King Duncan, Is this a
dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not,
and yet I see thee still. Or art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to feeling as to sight? Or art thou but a
dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat oppressed brain? I see thee yet, in form
as palpable as this which now I draw (II, I, 33 43). Macbeth s hallucination of Banquo s ghost
appearing at the banquet after Macbeth had him killed proves how guilty Macbeth felt inside. As the
ghost shook his head at Macbeth in disappointment, Macbeth exclaimed, Thou canst not say I did it.
Never shake thy gory locks at me (III, IV,

Comparing The Birth Stories In The Gospels Of Matthew And...
Compare and contrast the birth stories in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. How do the differences
set up distinct theological emphases in each Gospel?
The foundation of the Christian faith is cradled within truth of the virgin birth, life, and resurrection of
Jesus Christ. As diverse as the world wide Christian culture is, the truth in the birth and life of Jesus
stands without border and language limitations. Just as each individual life story can be adapted to be
relevant for a variety of audiences, the birth story of the Messiah was also. The Gospels of Matthew
and Luke are an example of the well rounded and diverse narration of the birth story of Jesus Matthew
s narration spoke to the history of the Jewish people and Luke presented to the citizen of Rome.
In the Gospel of Matthew, the focus on the Jewish genealogy of Jesus played a significant role in the
birth story. To fully understand Jesus, it was imperative to first acknowledge who Jesus was within
Jewish ancestry and his subsequent position as King of the Jews. Jewish tradition passed down the
oral and written story of Messianic prophecies for generations. To provide the correlation between the
anticipated Messiah and the fulfillment through Jesus, Matthew affirmed prophecies throughout the
birth story with two significant fulfillments Abraham s promised seed [offspring] and the virgin birth.
Matthew, a man of Jewish descent, connects a direct ancestral line from Jesus to the patriarch of the

History of Early North American Colonies Essay
The European conquest for establishing North American colonies began with various motivations,
each dependent on different, and/or merging necessities: economics, the desire to flee negative
societal aspects, and the search for religious freedoms. Originally discovered by Christopher
Columbus in 1492 in search for a trade route to Cathay (China), North America remained uninhabited,
excluding the Native American establishments. Following this discovery, Spain along with other
European nations such as France, England, Sweden and the Netherlands soon began the expedition to
the new land with vast expectations. Driven by economic, societal, and religious purposes, the New
World developed into a diversely structured colonial establishment ... Show more content on

When traveling to London from urban areas created overpopulation in the city, and increasingly
horrendous conditions, the move to a more prosperous land seemed more and more inviting. This idea
was further enhanced by the works of English Richard Hakluyt in novels such as The Principal
Navigations, Voyages, and Discoveries of the English Nation, and Voyages, where readers were given
false insight into a vastly successful New World, theoretically open for prosperous settlement. Those
which moved to London with abortive attempts to find work, or which experienced the scarcity of
food/land supplies between 1580 and 1650, found these inviting opportunities as an escape to
otherwise, inevitable poverty. Conversely, those living in stable, prosperous societies, with satisfactory
social statuses, were less likely to be motivated by the influential works of Richard Hakluyt and the
overall conquest of America. Those experiencing religious unrest among the Catholic Church and the
Protestants embraced the opportunity to establish new settlements in the New World. For years, the
Protestants and Catholics battled for territory; during the reign of Edward VI, Protestants attempted to
exterminate Catholic origins, and following his death, Queen Mary s rule involved the execution of
Protestants. To escape religious conflicts, Plymouth, for instance, rose from Pilgrims fleeing England
to form primarily a religious settlement of Puritan Separatists. Despite the successful formation

Aristotle And The Universe Reflection Paper
Aristotle had a fundamental unity in his view of man and the universe that has never since been
achieved in the synthesis of comparable scope and originality . Some descriptions of the Aristotelian
include the universe being contained within the sphere of the stars. In addition to this there are no
holes or vacuums in the universe, considering that Aristotle deemed the universe to have a finite size.
Another factor of the theory is that the universe is filled with aether, which aggregates in a
homocentric set of shells that creates the hollow shell of the universe . Through these descriptions of
the universe, Aristotle tries to explain the diurnal double spherical circular pattern of the stars and the
rotation of the seven planets . In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the mathematicians who study the universe were unsure of the revolution period of the
sun and moon, furthermore the inaccuracies regarding the length of seasons, Copernicus heliocentric
model takes steps towards accuracies . A strong example of this attention for accuracy is that, in
comparison to Aristotle s model, Copernicus universal model incorporated thirteen more centuries of
complied data in order to better represent the universe. It is important to compare the Aristotelian
model to the Copernican model because it shows that the scientific field made adaptations to the way
that gravity and the centrifugal motion of planets function . From a historical aspect this is important
because it shows that regardless of whether or not these ideas were accepted they were still thought
up, meaning that the thought processes incorporated modern thought . By examining the spherical
interpretation of the universe, Copernicus had to increase its size in order to accommodate for his
adaptations of gravitational pull . Copernicus theory is that because gravitational pull exists,
theoretically if the earth were predominantly water, the earth would retain its

I Am A Big Deal
For some, turning thirty is a big deal. For Opera Atelier turning thirty is an outstanding
accomplishment few companies could ever compare or measure up to. Moreover, retrofitting Purcell s
Dido and Aeneas seven times in the companies history is a creative feat unto itself. I first became
familiar with Opera Atelier in the 1990 s. A time when it was still considered to be an indy opera
company . Fortunately, that label has changed and I ve been able to witness the companies
progression. I have attended three of their Dido productions and must admit, this was not my favorite
for a number of reasons.
So, how does a company like Opera Atelier reinvent a period piece that was initially staged in the
basement of an all girls school, at a time when the gods were a part of recent history, and music so
boring it could send one to sleep?
Perhaps it would be best to understand OA s genetic makeup. The artistic directors are just as
passionate about their company as they were twenty years ago. Not only was their joy for storytelling
effervescent but their commitment to the aesthetic vision even more. On a warm Saturday afternoon,
the theatre fills with an impressive audience. A number of tourists catch a last minute performance,
parents, children, adults, students, and the Tafelmusik Orchestra s dedicated fans (some of which
appeared in period dress). Toronto s Elgin could not be a more fitting environment to stage Dido, for
the gilded ceilings, ornate wrought iron gold leaf

Neofelis Nebulosais Research Paper
There are many regulations and procedures in order to correctly keep animals in captivity; many of
which focus on the safety of the viewing public, the staff involved, and the welfare and safety of the
animals in question. Appropriate enclosure design is critical to all three parties.
Neofelis nebulosais is classed as a dangerous wild animal according to the document produced in
1976. Due to this it is required, by law that the enclosure is suitable and is able to hold the animal
securely; monitored by local authorities. This high level of security is also covered by the Zoo
Licensing Act (1981), but focuses on the welfare of the animals to ensure they are contained in a
suitable environment. It is for this reason that natural trees and shrubs

The daughter of these Canaanite woman was being tormented by demons and she cried to Jesus to heal her daughter. These Canaanite woman was not a Hebrew Jew, but she was a gentile, an outsider, because Jesus told her I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, meaning that She was not an Israelite Hebrew Jew. The Native Americans were forced and paid to leave their traditional lands and either chose to hide from or join the white people by living on reserves. Their native tongue, teachings and traditions were soon to be extinct and one man named Ishi and his family went around trying to pass on their culture to the new inhabitants of their land, The whites. Unfortunately, Ishi died not long after, a subject of disease. And thanks to his efforts and the efforts of people all around America, white people began to rally against the government alongside the natives. Native Americans were granted the same rights as any other American in 1924 and were soon merged in with the rest of society. In both cases, after a long, hard battle against the white settlers on their land, the Indigenous Australians and Native American have finally been granted the rights they deserve and have been accepted by society as a whole. According to scientists, the occurrence of such false memories is quite common, so you re not alone. The question of why our brain creates these false memories, has not been answered yet, but is not a fact. This in fact happened to a young boy named Jim. Jim, had a vivid flashbulb memory from his childhood of a day his parents won the lottery. He remembered everything about that day, where he was sitting, and what board game he and his siblings were playing when they heard the news. Recently, Jim discovered that he was completely wrong about what happened that day and none of those things actually happened. As your eyes and ears are taking light and sound they are being turned into electronic signals to the brain, which has to construct a version of what is being seen to makes sense. Memory is an integrated constructive process that is constantly refining, rebuilding, reconstructing, and finding any types of short cuts, and it sometimes make mistakes. Examples how your brain can misinterpret what it s seeing are things such as, optical illusions, blind spots, and hallucinations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Technological improvements are vital to improving fuel efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. There have already been significant changes over the last decades in the efficiency of aircraft, which are today 70 per cent more efficient than the first commercial jets. The cost of aviation fuel has provided a strong incentive to operators and manufacturers to increase efficiency. This, together with a need to meet internationally agreed aircraft standards related to emissions and noise, has resulted in British aerospace companies investing a significant percentage of their annual research and development budgets on environmental technologies. The next generation of aircraft, including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A350 and Bombardier C Series, are 20% more fuel efficient per passenger kilometer than current generation aircraft. This is primarily achieved through more fuel efficient engines and lighter airframes and supporting structures made of composite materials but is also achieved through more aerodynamic shapes, winglets, a one piece fuselage and more advanced computer systems for optimizing routes and loading of the aircraft. Route optimization is another way to reduce CO2 emissions. Currently, air traffic corridors that aircraft are forced to follow place unnecessary detours on an aircraft s route forcing higher fuel burn and an increase in emissions. • 6. Medieval Vs. Medieval Era The Medieval, or Middle, Ages in Europe have often been called the Dark Ages, since they seem to have been lacking in many ways. However, the Church was always shining the light of the Gospel in even the darkest of places. In the very bosom of this doomed society, a power remained which was capable of giving meaning to the drama, of bringing order out of disorder, of integrating the Barbarians into civilization and of using their youthful energies to restore the world to vigor and health. This power, to which the West owes its salvation, was the Church.1 Medieval Europe was, in many ways, more Christian then, than it is now. The Medieval era can be divided into three parts: the Early Ages, the High Ages, and the Late Ages. Each had its own achievements, shortcomings, and beliefs, but they are all inextricably linked. Though the Middle Ages have been called Dark, they always had the light of the Church shining in them. The Early Ages started in 476 A.D. with the fall of Rome to barbarian tribes. The Popes from that time on had to run everything themselves, due to a lack of support from Byzantium, the eastern part of the empire. Severed from Byzantium, and with Rome in the hands of the Barbarians, the West had only itself on whom it could rely.2 The countries of Europe now began to heal from the inside out. Ireland started this with saints such as Patrick, Brigit, and Columbanus, who spread new ideas of Christianity, such as private penance, throughout Europe. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead, her entire life up until she arrives at Misselthwaite Manor has been a harsh reality: a child abandoned and neglected by her mother as she is left under the care of servants, later losing everything she has previously known due to an outbreak of cholera. Narration Despite the similarities between Catcher in the Rye and The Secret Garden, the narrators of the works vastly differ. Holden Caulfield himself narrates his experiences leading up to the mental institution in a colloquial first person. As a first person narrator, Holden s reliability has to be called into question. Given that Holden is a narrator who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of alienating readers, it draws them even closer to Holden. Holden s voice and his coming of age journey are inseparable. In contrast, the story of The Secret Garden is told through an opinionated third person narrator. The narrator does not recount events passively, but instead inserts his or her own voice and opinions such as how Mary was a tyrannical and selfish a little pig as ever lived into the narrative (Burnett 1). In a sense, the narrator serves as a guide in Mary s venture into adolescence during a period when Mary herself may not fully comprehend her transformation. To contextualize this change, the narrator often turns to physical descriptions as opposed to mental ones. As the children mature and develop, their appearance and vitality heal as they progressively begin to resemble regular, healthy children. As mentioned by the narrator, [Colin] was coming alive with the garden (Burnett 202). Despite the reliability of the narrator, Mary s personal growth is omitted from the narrative and readers are left with only the physical development and dialogue between characters. Consequently, the information given by the narrator is the sole insight readers have into Mary s state and her psychological state is left for interpretation. • 11. No Love for Animals in Sea World Charles Darwin once said, the love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man. If only Darwin had been alive to witness the secrets of the well known marine mammal theme park known as SeaWorld, he would have been as appalled as many have been discovering these hidden secrets. One of the major issues with SeaWorld is animal captivity. It serves as a profitable way for people to see and enjoy wild animals, but through the captivity it can transform harmless animals into violent, agitated monsters in some cases. The defenseless animals, such as the killer whales at Seaworld, are deprived of their family, lives and freedom, which can lead to exceptional aggression. Many people that visit SeaWorld or know of the theme park believe that it is just a welcoming marina and a great place to take family to see wild animals and the remarkable shows that the killer whales present. Clearly many people do not realize the truth behind what SeaWorld is doing to these poor animals. For starters, captive marine animals are robbed of most everything that is natural to them such as living in a family pod and swimming up to a hundred miles each day. Obviously these necessities cannot be met within the small enclosures where the killer whales live. Another less known fact about SeaWorld is that it lowers animals life spans quite drastically. So we prepared a memo for Mr. Kovacs as a result of our visit to make him be aware of these potential problems. Accounting issues: The owners of the company believe that WHCL will be poised to be a major player in the Canadian and the US heating and cooling markets in three years. However, after collecting information and auditing all the financial statement, we found that there is numerous issues need to be concerned for WHCL in recent years. 1. Covenants: We can notice that in the early fiscal 2000, WHCL increased its debt significantly, and the company had attached several covenants specifying that debt to equity ratio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But this would certainly increase the audit risk. If the company has violated the covenants, the auditor should disclose that in the financial statement. Warranty (Estimated Expense): In 1994, WHCL introduced a new model of gas furnace and these products are sold with ten year warranties on parts and labor. Although this marketing strategy can attract more customers to buy their product, the increased long term warranty claims will increase company s warranty expense, and lower their future profit. The most serious accounting problem for WHCL is the warranty potential liability. The increasing liability concern is because WHCL sold a new model of gas furnace with 10 year warranties in 1994. So we need to consider how much repair costs should be reported in the 2000 financial statements. As we know, cost of repairing each furnace was $150, and there are 30 claims were made. So we need to record 30 x $150=$4500 in warranty expenses in 2000 financial statement. Another problem for us is the information we currently collect cannot let us make an accurate estimate. Apparently, WHCL don t want to record too much costs in current period, but the fact is they require a large amount of accrual. If the estimate is low, then the costs we ... Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. This passage of Scripture was written by the apostle Paul as he was reflecting upon the thorn of his flesh. Paul had entreated the Lord asking why he was burdened with such an affliction, but the Lord answered that [His] grace is sufficient and was using Paul s suffering to further His purpose. The Lord was teaching Paul that suffering can be used and that although at times suffering may seem that it is too much to bear, this suffering is actually being used by the Lord to help grow His people. Paul s thorn was used to prevent him from becoming conceited at the knowledge of how much the Lord had revealed to him and how much the Lord was using him (2 Cor. 12:7 9). We can see this devaluation from the very beginning when Chihiro and her family drive into the forest that hides the bathhouse. Furthermore, she rushes immediately to comfort him when he cries and when she realizes he has gone missing, Yubaba s torment is depicted through her breathing fire out of her mouth. Yubaba s fire breathing depiction emphasizes Yubaba s overprotectiveness of Bo, showing her strong valuing of his presence. However, this strong valuing of Bo s presence shows Bo is being used (Hatcher, 122). Because society strongly associates the female identity with being caring and nurturing (Ueno, 15), Yubaba loses part of her identity when Bo is taken from her she loses the person who depends on her the most and who gives her life purpose. Thus, we can see why she cares about him so much and goes through great extents to protect him, like covering Bo s room with an immense amount of pillows and padding. Yubaba also prevents Bo from going out, which we find out when Bo accuses Chihiro of trying to make him sick: You came in here to make me sick [. . .] you ll get sick if you go outside [. . .] that s why I ve never left this room. However, Yubaba s actions to protect Bo actually end up harming him. By preventing Bo from going outside, Yubaba deprives him of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the idea of immigration is one that has existed since the Old Testament with stories of refugees fleeing from oppression. Immigration is an ideal that has remained a topic of discussion for years due to the positives and negatives of it. While immigration may have some negatives, it is my view that immigration is a necessity for the United States because of its roots in Catholic social teaching, effects on economy, and the need for basic rights of individuals to obtain a better life. When dealing with immigration one must not just view it as an economic factor but must understand that immigration is an issue within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Catholic bishops further their explanation of the freedom to move lands when they reference that ownership or duration have no privilege in regard to who s land is who s. The Bishops state that, the native does not have superior rights over the immigrant. Before God all are equal; the earth was given by God to all. When a person cannot achieve a meaningful life in his or her own land, that person has the right to move (Catholic Bishops). The next principle touched upon is the right of a country to regulate its boarders and control immigration. This principle is grounded in the belief that people have the right to move but no country is bound by anything to accept those that want to resettle there. This principle also brings to light the reasons for immigrants fleeing which is normally for somber reasons as they are fleeing from an unsafe place. This illustrates that many immigrants are coming from a bad situation which is not looked highly upon in Catholic social teaching as it goes against the common good to have bad areas . The Catholic Bishops comment on the idea of immigration as a whole explaining that, catholic social teaching is realistic: While people have the right to move, no country has the duty to receive so many immigrants that its social and economic life are jeopardized . The final principle brings together principles one and two, which tend to contradict one another. Principle three states that a country must regulate it s borders with ... An example of a werewolf sighting is that of Lorianne Endrizzi in the autumn of 1989 in Wisconsin, USA. She was driving on Bray Road where she thought someone was kneeling at the side of the road. She slowed down and the figure stared at her from six feet away from her car. The creature was coated head to toe with grey and brown hair, with large fangs and sharp ears. Lycanthropy is a clinical name given to werewolves in fiction, but is also a medical term referring to someone who is under the influence that they are a wolf (The Brain Bank North West 2012). Some medical theories concerning the origin of werewolves are based around porphyria which is a disease that effects the skin and nervous system, the same disease linked to the vampire myth. Some victims of porphyria display the fang canine look caused by the corrosion of the gums. Furthermore, following exposure to light, the healing blisters on the skin often grow a thin layer of hair (The Brain Bank North West 2012). Wolves are carriers of the lupine parvovirus (LPV), and it is suggested that the virus is responsible for lycanthropy. LPV infected wolves are resistant to environmental trauma, including digestive enzymes, making it much easier to spread through contaminated food and water sources. The passionate love of Francesca da Rimini and Paolo Malatesta was a theme which Rodin used to inspire The Kiss. Although it was originally intended to be part of the Gates of Hell, Rodin did not feel that it fit and removed the figures to make them an individual statue. The form of the lovers emerges from the highlights and shadows of the statue. Light and shade were used by Rodin to create an impression of actuality. The convulsive contraction of the toes on the man s right foot and the tenseness of his hand in contrast to the woman s thigh. Such details reveal much of the passion that inflames the lovers, but they reveal it with taste and refinement. Rodin s sculpture combined both the realistic and romantic tendencies present in French society at the time. In his work he aimed to capture and represent inner feeling and the subsequent state of mind. Rodin was a believer in the power of art. He believed that art was on par with religion and that through art you could say all that could be said about the relationship between man and the world. Rodin also wanted nature to be the influence behind his work, but was more interested in the simplicity and beauty of the natural form of the human body His subject as in all his work is the human form. Macbeth also has his share of hallucinations steaming from guilt beginning with a bloody dagger that appears to him after he murders King Duncan, Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. Or art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to feeling as to sight? Or art thou but a dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat oppressed brain? I see thee yet, in form as palpable as this which now I draw (II, I, 33 43). Macbeth s hallucination of Banquo s ghost appearing at the banquet after Macbeth had him killed proves how guilty Macbeth felt inside. As the ghost shook his head at Macbeth in disappointment, Macbeth exclaimed, Thou canst not say I did it. Never shake thy gory locks at me (III, IV, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Comparing The Birth Stories In The Gospels Of Matthew And... Compare and contrast the birth stories in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. How do the differences set up distinct theological emphases in each Gospel? The foundation of the Christian faith is cradled within truth of the virgin birth, life, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As diverse as the world wide Christian culture is, the truth in the birth and life of Jesus stands without border and language limitations. Just as each individual life story can be adapted to be relevant for a variety of audiences, the birth story of the Messiah was also. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke are an example of the well rounded and diverse narration of the birth story of Jesus Matthew s narration spoke to the history of the Jewish people and Luke presented to the citizen of Rome. In the Gospel of Matthew, the focus on the Jewish genealogy of Jesus played a significant role in the birth story. To fully understand Jesus, it was imperative to first acknowledge who Jesus was within Jewish ancestry and his subsequent position as King of the Jews. Jewish tradition passed down the oral and written story of Messianic prophecies for generations. To provide the correlation between the anticipated Messiah and the fulfillment through Jesus, Matthew affirmed prophecies throughout the birth story with two significant fulfillments Abraham s promised seed [offspring] and the virgin birth. Matthew, a man of Jewish descent, connects a direct ancestral line from Jesus to the patriarch of the Hebrew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. History of Early North American Colonies Essay The European conquest for establishing North American colonies began with various motivations, each dependent on different, and/or merging necessities: economics, the desire to flee negative societal aspects, and the search for religious freedoms. Originally discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492 in search for a trade route to Cathay (China), North America remained uninhabited, excluding the Native American establishments. Following this discovery, Spain along with other European nations such as France, England, Sweden and the Netherlands soon began the expedition to the new land with vast expectations. Driven by economic, societal, and religious purposes, the New World developed into a diversely structured colonial establishment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When traveling to London from urban areas created overpopulation in the city, and increasingly horrendous conditions, the move to a more prosperous land seemed more and more inviting. This idea was further enhanced by the works of English Richard Hakluyt in novels such as The Principal Navigations, Voyages, and Discoveries of the English Nation, and Voyages, where readers were given false insight into a vastly successful New World, theoretically open for prosperous settlement. Those which moved to London with abortive attempts to find work, or which experienced the scarcity of food/land supplies between 1580 and 1650, found these inviting opportunities as an escape to otherwise, inevitable poverty. Conversely, those living in stable, prosperous societies, with satisfactory social statuses, were less likely to be motivated by the influential works of Richard Hakluyt and the overall conquest of America. Those experiencing religious unrest among the Catholic Church and the Protestants embraced the opportunity to establish new settlements in the New World. For years, the Protestants and Catholics battled for territory; during the reign of Edward VI, Protestants attempted to exterminate Catholic origins, and following his death, Queen Mary s rule involved the execution of Protestants. To escape religious conflicts, Plymouth, for instance, rose from Pilgrims fleeing England to form primarily a religious settlement of Puritan Separatists. Despite the successful formation ... • 42. Aristotle And The Universe Reflection Paper Aristotle had a fundamental unity in his view of man and the universe that has never since been achieved in the synthesis of comparable scope and originality . Some descriptions of the Aristotelian include the universe being contained within the sphere of the stars. In addition to this there are no holes or vacuums in the universe, considering that Aristotle deemed the universe to have a finite size. Another factor of the theory is that the universe is filled with aether, which aggregates in a homocentric set of shells that creates the hollow shell of the universe . Through these descriptions of the universe, Aristotle tries to explain the diurnal double spherical circular pattern of the stars and the rotation of the seven planets . In ... Even though the mathematicians who study the universe were unsure of the revolution period of the sun and moon, furthermore the inaccuracies regarding the length of seasons, Copernicus heliocentric model takes steps towards accuracies . A strong example of this attention for accuracy is that, in comparison to Aristotle s model, Copernicus universal model incorporated thirteen more centuries of complied data in order to better represent the universe. It is important to compare the Aristotelian model to the Copernican model because it shows that the scientific field made adaptations to the way that gravity and the centrifugal motion of planets function . From a historical aspect this is important because it shows that regardless of whether or not these ideas were accepted they were still thought up, meaning that the thought processes incorporated modern thought . By examining the spherical interpretation of the universe, Copernicus had to increase its size in order to accommodate for his adaptations of gravitational pull . Copernicus theory is that because gravitational pull exists, theoretically if the earth were predominantly water, the earth would retain its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. I Am A Big Deal For some, turning thirty is a big deal. For Opera Atelier turning thirty is an outstanding accomplishment few companies could ever compare or measure up to. Moreover, retrofitting Purcell s Dido and Aeneas seven times in the companies history is a creative feat unto itself. I first became familiar with Opera Atelier in the 1990 s. A time when it was still considered to be an indy opera company . Fortunately, that label has changed and I ve been able to witness the companies progression. I have attended three of their Dido productions and must admit, this was not my favorite for a number of reasons. So, how does a company like Opera Atelier reinvent a period piece that was initially staged in the basement of an all girls school, at a time when the gods were a part of recent history, and music so boring it could send one to sleep? Perhaps it would be best to understand OA s genetic makeup. The artistic directors are just as passionate about their company as they were twenty years ago. Not only was their joy for storytelling effervescent but their commitment to the aesthetic vision even more. On a warm Saturday afternoon, the theatre fills with an impressive audience. A number of tourists catch a last minute performance, parents, children, adults, students, and the Tafelmusik Orchestra s dedicated fans (some of which appeared in period dress). Toronto s Elgin could not be a more fitting environment to stage Dido, for the gilded ceilings, ornate wrought iron gold leaf ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to this it is required, by law that the enclosure is suitable and is able to hold the animal securely; monitored by local authorities. This high level of security is also covered by the Zoo Licensing Act (1981), but focuses on the welfare of the animals to ensure they are contained in a suitable environment. It is for this reason that natural trees and shrubs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
