Using a mobile phone while driving can be deadly. Over 40 deaths and injuries were recorded in the UK in 2017 from drivers using phones. The top concern of UK drivers according to a 2020 report is other drivers using phones, as 32% of UK drivers believe this is a risk. Additionally, 29% of UK motorists admit to occasionally using handheld phones while driving, and 18% of younger drivers admit to video calls. Distracted driving from phone use can impair concentration, observation, speed and distance maintenance from other cars.
