100 Word Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic "100 Word Essay" poses a unique challenge. The irony of
encapsulating a comprehensive thought within such a confined space creates a paradoxical
struggle. The brevity demanded demands precision, forcing one to distill complex ideas into
succinct phrases. Every word becomes a battleground, vying for inclusion in the limited canvas.
Striking a balance between depth and conciseness is an art that requires finesse. Moreover, the
self-imposed constraint intensifies the need for creativity and ingenuity. Successfully navigating
this terrain necessitates a deep understanding of the subject, strategic word choices, and a
mastery of economical expression. It's a mental gymnastics exercise, a linguistic puzzle to be
solved.

Saint Joan Of Arc Or Sainte Jeanne D Arc In French
The saint I chose to write a biography on was Saint Joan of Arc or Sainte Jeanne d
Arc in French. She was a French saint who saved France from England and
Burgundians during the Hundred Years War (insert citation). I chose her because
she demonstrated many characteristics and her story is very unique. She lost her
life at a very young age and was only canonized as a saint, hundreds of years after
her death. She believed in God so much that it helped her achieve her destiny. She
was born as a peasant girl in 1412 in the small village of DomrГ©my (insert
citation). Her father was a tenant farmer and both her parents were very religious
(insert citation). She was not taught to read or write yet she received a deep love and
interest for Catholic
Rhetorical Analysis Of Chief Powhatan
A leader has many responsibilities as a role model and caretaker for their people.
Facing hard challenges and knowing how to deal with them is a part of being a great
leader all of which are Chief Powhatan showed. Chief Powhatan whose proper name
was Wahunsenacawh, was the superior chief of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of
Algonquian speaking VirginiaIndians in the Tidewater region of Virginia at the time
English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607. In his address to Captain John Smith
Chief Powhatanexpresses how he desires peace between the settlers and the
Tsenacommacah. He utilizes distinct rhetorical elements such as rhetorical questions,
diction and argumentation to further support his view on what he desired to occur
between his people and the English settlers.
Chief Powhatan begins to address his statement by using rhetorical questions in
order to support his claim of peace. For example in lines 5 through 7 Powhatan
says Why should you take by force that from us which you can have by love? Why
should you destroy us who have provided you with food? What can you get by war?
Obviously Powhatan doesn t expect Captain John Smith to answer his questions but
he uses this in order to create a growing tension that drives a questioning mentality
about whether using force is the best method when love is another alternative. He
also recounts on how it is unwise and unethical to break ties with the people who
have fed and given shelter to the settlers. Without them the settlers would be starving
and freezing to death turning to barbaric methods of survival. In line 9, he continues
to support his claim by saying what is the cause of this jealousy? , this is important
because the settlers became envious of how the Tsenacommacah were so well
developed, having shelter, and food. Having these benefits over the settlers Powhatan
came to the conclusion that the settlers would attempt to pilfer all that the
Tsenacommacah had acquired. With this in mind Powhatan decides to express his
desire for peace so that neither side would eventually aim for violence from lines 9
through 15.
Chief Powhatan continues to enhance his argument by using diction to add more
emotion and meaning to the message he is trying to convey.
Native American Conquistadors
Native American History Although the conquistadors and colonists believed they
were contributing to making Native American life simpler and easier by converting
them to Christianity and teaching them how to read and write the consequences of
their actions almost eliminated an entire race as well as caused inexplicable harm to
Native American culture. Before the conquistadors and colonists ventured out to the
New World and began destroying and corrupting Native American culture, signs of
the first people in the America s was visible since the ice age, thousands of years ago
(History of Native Americans). As the Ice Age ended however, the changes in climate
and increasing populations lead many to settle scarcely throughout North America,
South America, and Central America (Native American History). As Native
Americans began settling in North America, cultivation and farming became
popularized. Their nomadic lifestyle of hunting buffalo and bison slowly shifted to
a semi nomadic lifestyle where living in large tribes became the norm (Minority
Rights). Therefore the brutal forms and mechanisms the colonists as well as the
Spaniards used to colonize Native American people should not be exalted and seen
as an act of kindness but instead seen as genocide for ninety percent of the Native
American race was killed. An Estimated ten to ninety million Native Americans were
living in North America during Christopher Columbus s arrival in the Americas
(Native American History). Before
The Republican Party Essay
Though the Republican Party was founded on pro minority ideals and continued to
have the support of minorities its reputation quickly began to change. Wagner (2007)
states that during the early late 1800s and the early 1900s, Republican support
weakened among the working class. In addition, many Americans, including a sizable
number of Republicans, believed that American society had lost its moral fiber. As a
result of these factors, many Republicans became affiliated with the Progressive
Movement, a reform movement designed to assist the working class attain better
working conditions in the form of religious fundamentalism. During the Progressive
Era, the Republican Partysplit into two groups: those Republicans interested primarily

Rueter (1995) provides a detailed look into the world of politics during the civil
rights era. Rueter asserts that prior to the civil rights era, the Republican Party was
not as effective in gaining rights for minorities compared to proposals made by the
Democratic Party in the 1960s. He states that it was clear to minorities that the
Democratic Party was more supportive of civil rights versus Republicans due to their
lack of voting support of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of
1965. Because of this, Republicans were seen as being against minorities due to their
lack of cooperation with the Democratic Party to end segregation and with President
Johnson to allow equal voting rights (240 1). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 barred
unequal application of voter registration requirements, outlawed discrimination in
public accommodations engaged in interstate commerce, encouraged the
desegregation of public schools and authorized the U. S. Attorney General to file suits
to force desegregation, authorized the withdrawal of federal funds from programs
which practiced discrimination, and outlawed discrimination in employment in any
business (Loevy 1997, 211 3). According to Klarman (2004) the civil rights
movement caused southerners to cling to the Republican Party and gave the
Democratic Party more momentum to further support minority interests. The
Republican Party s inability to quickly
A Speech On The Rotary Club
Greenwood Rotary Club May 2, 2016 It s honor to be with you again. This is an
exciting time for our university and our community, and we have a lot to be
thankful for. Spring commencement is coming up in a few days, and we will be
awarding around 2,600 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Our total for the
academic year will surpass 4,000 for the fifth year in a row. Providing more
college educated workers and leaders for our state is a top priority. We just
produced our 18th Truman Scholar. It is the second year in a row that one of our
students has earned that high honor, recognizing the nation s top students planning
careers in public service. This spring we also had a new Goldwater Scholar, a
prestigious national honor for students in science, engineering and technology.
Our baseball team is back near the top, ranked in the top five nationally and
shutting out Ole Miss in the Governor s Cup last week. Our women s basketball
team had its best season ever, reaching the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. The support of
our alumni and friends is amazing. A few months ago our current Infinite Impact
capital campaign reached its $600 million goal, three years ahead of schedule. And
as you may have read or heard, last week we announced a new goal $1 billion by
the end of 2018 the largest campaign goal ever for an educational institution in
Mississippi. And I am personally thankful that the Legislative session is over. As I

Abolition Of Pennies
The U.S have been producing pennies for over a 200 years now and over time it
has become very useless to the society. A penny is only one cent and to most
people that is worthless. Pennies were more valued around the 1950s, when the
products were very cheap to buy. As technology evolved, and as products got more
expensive, the use of dollar bills and greater got more valuable. The abolition of the
penny needs to happen in the United States. Because pennies are outdated, therefore
the United States should abolish the pennies, since there s no single products that can
be purchased with a penny. Pennies are so worthless in this new century, but yet the
united states are still producing millions of pennies every day. The U.S economy has

Persuasive Speech About Otp
Why you should care
You are receiving the worst possible deal. Let me recap.
OTPs are constructs based on content we consume on screens or on stages. They are
a hunt for photos and videos showing interactions between two idols in order to
understand a relationship or refine a story.
Unless the group breaks apart, that hunt will never end. In order to observe the
interactions, we consume content and stay engaged with that group.
In the process, we spend a lot of time and probably money while gaining nothing.
Nothing. What do you gain from your OTP? Happiness? Entertainment? Please. We
know of better ways.
We do not want to here it but here is the truth: Our OTP is an addiction. It will not
put us in a hospital, but it does leave damage. ... Show more content on

We engage in a seemingly reciprocal relationship with that group. Of course, this is
an illusion. The members of the group do not know us. They have no idea who we
truly are. Still, broadcasts feel like we know them better than some of our friends.
But we do not.
The key idea is that because we feel close to our idols, we regularly consume their
content and buy their products. Engagement results in revenue, not a hundred
percent, but obviously enough to create entire show buildings. OTPs are one of the
ways we keep engaged with a group.
Remember, the relationship that we see between two idols is not the whole story.
Relationships develop off camera. OTPs exist because we make assumptions about
those relationships and project our wishes onto them. However, as OTPs keep us fans
engaged, companies actively cultivate them in order to generate revenue.
This is why interactions are promoted and not cut. This is why they are predictable.
This is why you will never see an OTP fighting.
We should be able to identify with our ideas of the OTP.
Why OTPs are
Napoleon And Satire
Charlie Chaplin and Horace do a phenomenal job entertaining and explaining the
idea and use of satire in both of their works. The satire in Horace s Book I Sat I and
satire in Modern Times are different as satire in Horace uses satire in the ideas of
people such as merchants and soldiers, while satire in Modern Times is about the
things happening around the little tramp and the things the little tramp is doing. They
are also similar as they both use many types of satirical devices such as ironyand both
use humor to entertain the idea of satire.
In book I satire I, Horace begins essentially complaining about others complaining
about themselves. How come, Maecenas, no one alive s ever content with the lot he
chose or the fate threw in his way .
The Work Of A Mercenary
The job of a mercenary, fighting a war or performing some sort of military duty, for
pay, without nationalist allegiance, has been a job ...since the dawn of warfare,
from Xenophon s ten thousand Greeks hired to fight in Persia to the Swiss Guards
who protect the Vatican today (Blood and Treasure). Simply put, Mercenaries are
nothing new. However only in the last 60 or so years has a new, modern form of
mercenarywork come into practice. Modern mercenaries today often function in the
form of a Private MilitaryCorporation or PMC. These are corporations that train and
deploy often elite fighting forces to fulfill contracts paid for by various clients, most
of the time governments. These corporations are rather controversial for a number...

After successfully using Private Military Companies in Vietnam, the United States
continued their use, doling out contracts to corporations during the later Cold War
Era. During this time many United State PMCs were tied to tasks too dirty for the
U.S. government. (Avant) The use of private military companies has continued
ever since and has only grown in scale. Other than the size of the Industry, not
much has changed in PMCs. They still receive funding mainly from their clients,
who are often national governments, and from their investors if they are publicly
held corporations. In terms of the size of the market, the PMC market was
expected to grow in net revenue from $55.6 billion to $202 billion between the
years of 1990 and 2010. These predictions had merit especially in the 90s when the
stock value of public PMCs grew two times faster than the Dow Jones Industrial
Average (Avant).
Since their inception private military companies have claimed to provide services
of elite and precise military force for nations and organizations; these organizations
claim that they are better suited for the job than a military and they do not shy
away from the fact that they are motivated entirely by money. Erik Prince comes to
the defence of PMCs, as he is the founder and CEO of perhaps the best known PMC
in the world, Blackwater. He says on the matter of
Candide Analysis
The world is full of people of different character and reasoning. While some people
tend to be so confident regardless of their obstacles in life, others are however so
negative such that they can see any positive aspect of any good thing that comes to
them. Candide is a literary work which is considered Voltaires signature work was
published in the year of 1759. Candideis written as a satire; however, it is written in
the third person while focusing on Candide s experience and perspective he
encounters in life while searching for his lost love. Voltaire s work takes on
criticisms of philosophy, cruelty, the church, and nobility which seems to stem from
his plights in life. Candide, the protagonist, travels the world where he becomes a
conduit of many outside factors which test his reason of justice and optimism,
although they are reactivated through faith and through the events he encounters in
life.
Voltaire uses three main characters, Candide, Pangloss, and Martin to show the
contrast that people shows when it comes to their perception of life issues and to
challenge the assumption of the Age of reason. Pangloss who is a philosopher and
Candide s tutor shows the positive attitude of being optimistic about life. According
to Pangloss, he believes that the world is the best place of all possible worlds and
therefore anyone can achieve what he thinks is best for him. Although Candide is
tutored by Pangloss, he does have doubts in Pangloss philosophy because of his

The 11 Principles Of Quality
Quality. Such a simple word with a multitude of meanings. I must admit, prior to this
course, I was rather naГЇve about what quality entailed. I definitely did not have a
concrete definition of what quality was or stood for. It simply seemed as though
quality was something that worked most of the time. After the studies from this
course I have a much better grasp of how to define qualityand what exactly quality
means in various areas of life and business. For instance, the 11 Baldrige Principles
of Quality are an easily used metric for defining the quality of an organization.
Previously, I never would have used these 11 principles to define an organization as
quality. Now, I find it hard not to view an organization in relation to the 11... Show

Thankfully, the Baldrige principles changed my perspective on quality. As such, I
now use a few of the principles to grade an organization. The main principles I find
myself grading an organization with are visionary leadership, customer centered
excellence, valuing workforce members and partners and societal responsibility. All
eleven of the principles are important. However, these tend to be the most important
to me when defining the quality of an organization.
For instance, I now purchase many products from the Newman s Own brand based
on the principles I have mentioned. They have a strong sense of societal
responsibility and ensure 100% of profits to charity is an underlying theme in all
they do (Newman s Own, n.d.). This drew me towards them as a company, then I
noticed how much they value their employees and how their core values tend to
line up with the 11 Baldrige principles (Newman s Own, n.d.). After looking into
this company and seeing how they operate, I decided to purchase as many
products as I could from them and ensure other people were aware of their mission.
This is something that would never have been in my realm of possibilities prior to
this course. This is not to say I was unaware of being socially responsible prior to
this course. It is simply highlighting how my thought pattern has been modified since
learning about these specific 11 Baldrige Principles of Quality. After having such an
epiphany about quality and how I grade various

measure of human negligence, in desire to enclose the latest technological inventions.
This measure may have drastic effect on human conception to the positioning of

Thus steganography is said to be a covert communication. In contrast to Cryptography
, where the enemy is allowed to detect, intercept and modify messages without
being able to violate certain security premises guaranteed by a cryptosystem, the
goal of Steganography is to hide messages inside other harmless messages in a way
that does not allow any enemy to even detect that there is a presence of second
message [1]. Both steganography and cryptography are meant for secret
communication but the approach is different. Hiding of secret message using
steganography can be done in different forms like text steganography, image
steganography, audio steganography and video steganography. Encoding secret
messages in audio is the most challenging task while using steganography because
human auditory system (HAS) is more perceptive than human visual system (HVS)
[5]. Thus audio file is used as a cover file to hide secret data and it is called audio
steganography. In Audio steganography, secret message is embedded into digitized
audio signal which results into altering the binary sequence of corresponding audio
file. There are several methods are available for audio
Anderson And Hemingways Use Of The First Person Essay
quot;It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. quot;At
one point in his short story, quot;Big Two Hearted River: Part II quot;, Hemingway s
character Nick speaks in the first person. Why he adopts, for one line only, the first
person voice is an interesting question, without an easy answer. Sherwood Anderson
does the same thing in the introduction to his work, Winesburg, Ohio. The first piece,
called quot; The Book of the Grotesque quot;, is told from the first person point of
view. But after this introduction, Anderson chooses not to allow the first person to
narrate the work. Anderson and Hemingway both wrote collections of short stories
told in the third person, and the intrusion of the first person... Show more content on

Nick tries as hard as he can, but the fish snaps the line and escapes. Then, as Nick
thinks about the fate of the trout which got away, Hemingway writes, quot;He felt like
a rock, too, before he started off. By God, he was a big one.
By God, he was the biggest one I ever heard of. quot; This sudden switch to first
person narration is startling to the reader. Until this point Hemingway had solely
used third person narration, but he did it so well that the reader feels as one with
Nick. It is not definite whether this is Nick or Hemingway speaking. It could easily
be either of the two.
Hemingway doesn t include, quot;he thought, quot; or, quot;he said to himself, quot;
and so it is unclear. The result is the same regardless. Using first person narration at
this point serves to make the story more alive, more personal. It jolts the reader into
realizing the humanity of Nick; he is no longer the object of a story but a real
person. If Nick is making so much stir over it that he speaks directly to the reader,
he must feel passionately about it. Or if Hemingway is so moved by the size of the
trout that he exclaims at its size, I can only accept that Nick also feels this excitement.
The sudden intrusion of the first person narrator makes the story more complete and
its only character more life like. It also brings the reader into the story as a listener.

The main theological function of the plague narratives in Exodus is to bring about

Therefore, the plague narrative also serves a function of demonstrating who Yahweh
is to His own people. Israel must also know Yahweh as we see in Exodus 10:2.
Throughout the narrative, we see many allusions to the Egyptian gods and the
impotence of these gods before God of Israel.9 There are multiple gods in the
Egyptian temple. As an example, in the first plague, the Nile River was turned into
blood. The river was an important source of fertility to the land of Egypt. Thus, it
was dedicated to many gods (Osiris, Hapi, Sepek etc.) of the Egyptians.10 By
turning the river into blood, it eloquently reveals the power of Yahweh and the
inferiority of Egyptian gods. For the Egyptians who looked to various gods
associated with the Nile, this event would have produced many questions for their
faith. Even the magicians had to acknowledge in the third plague that it is the finger
of God as they could not replicate it (Exod. 8:19). As for the Israelites, the plague
narrative is a reminder of the mighty and awesome power of God who had chosen
them and kept His promise. A reminder that would help to strengthen their faith in
Him.
Each plague brings deeper knowledge and understanding of Yahweh. They are not
simply acts of judgment, but something that God uses to reveal Himself. Because
they are more than just punishments, they fail to actually secure Israel s release each
time. As signs , they are used to
How To Holly Halloween Costumes
Choosing a costume for your child can be definitely fun, much of it owing to the
very fact that there s such a vast number of outfits readily available out there. Over
the past couple of years, outfit designers and manufacturers have added more
collections to their lines, providing more choices to parents that can t wait around for
to dress up their own little ones in unique toddler Halloween costumes.
Many parents also make their children their own costumes. In these times, with the
choices you can have access to, it s much more appealing to choose a professionally
created toddlers Halloween costume.
The majority of those available incorporate a bunting, also known as a pajama
kind of design that has a hood or some other form of head covering ideal for keeping
your toddler comfortable as he or she goes around trick or treating. As this design is
also comfy, your child will certainly have much more fun wearing it. It goes
without saying that if your child is happy, then you will be also.? Get ready for a
Halloween all the family will love.
The only problem you might encounter with a bunting design will be your toddler s
preference for head coverings. If your child does not wish to wear a hat or cap or
anything else around his head, then you will have a problem during Halloween.. One

Relationship Between A Mother And Daughters Essay
Almost every woman in North America has some form of a relationship with their
daughter or mother, or both. However, these relationships can vary in amiability and
affection. Whether due to similarities or differences in personality or circumstances
in life, mothers and daughters can be close confidants or fierce foes. These familial
relationships have been studied in part by Marianne Hirsch and Sharon M. Varallo in
their essays on the familial gaze and the genre of familyphotographs, respectively. In
this essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and Varallo to analyze
two different motherdaughter relationships presented in the television show Gilmore
Girls. The two relationships differ vastly in their outward appearance, however both
relationships show underlying characteristics of both friendship and animosity.
Overall, these two mother daughter relationships demonstrate that the love between a
mother and a daughter can be expressed in various ways.
Gilmore Girls follows the lives of three women in the Gilmore family. Rory, the
youngest, is a teenager at the beginning of the show. She is an only child and was
raised by her single mother, Lorelai, in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
Lorelai is in her thirties throughout the show. She became pregnant with Rory when
she was sixteen, and left her wealthy parents home to raise Rory alone. Emily, the
eldest Gilmore girl, is in her fifties and sixties during the show. She and her husband

Analysis Of The Garden Of Forking Paths By Jose Borges
What are the labyrinths in the Borges story and what fantasy themes/issues do they
illustrate? To me, this response paper is an attempt to ponder, explore and, possibly,
answer this question. In doing so, I will connect my interpretations with the personal
experience in order to critically reflect on the meaning of labyrinths in Borges s story.
Overall, I argue that the labyrinths help me understand how the fantasies of time and
imagination of nature are intricately connected with the male centered sociopolitical
fantasy of triumph, motivation and desire. Through my interpretations, I aim not only
to reflect on my own fantasies, but also to imagine my future as a criminal and
environmental lawyer. In The Garden of Forking... Show more content on

Being stumbled and perplexed by this unexpected multiplicity of time, I had to re
read the story more than once, and each time I found new meanings. I asked
myself, Who gets to make these historical decisions and, consequently, create and
recreate time and choices? Who benefits from these decisions that seem to be
grounded in male centered fantasies of the German rulers, spies, and other heroes?
What is nature in this story? The more I try to grasp the ungraspable meaning of
the story itself, the more I realize that the story can not be understood in linear
dimensions. I have to enter the labyrinth and journey together with Dr. Tsun s
monologues and dialogues, as well as I have to enter into the labyrinth of my sense
of self. In doing so, I can develop a personal connection with this story and
understand it better. First of all, I think that Tsun was motivated by his resistance to
German nationalism and racism of the time. He served Germany not to support their
war, but to win his own battle field. He wanted to combat the dominant
sociopolitical fantasy of his life. Even though the German chiefs perceived him as
being racially inferior to them, Tsun was highly motivated and driven to disprove this
socially unjust fantasy. His desire to triumph over racism has led him to find inner
strength in his past. Personally, I am surprised by Tsun s cultivated desire to win over
the dominant fantasy and to resist social injustice. I don t understand how one might

Whether it s finding another town, living in the woods alone, or eternal darkness,
I just know I would never be happy in this community. Not only would it eat away
at me that everyone relies on one person s suffering to keep them happy, but the

Arroz Con Leche
ARROZ CON LECHE Arroz con leche, or rice pudding is a big part of all
Hispanic cuisines. Being made with base items such as milk, rice, and cinnamon,
other flavors can be mixed in to appeal to one s area of origin or taste. It is widely
accepted that the original rice pudding was introduced to Spain by its original
occupants, the Moorish. This dish, along with much other cultural heritage would be
left over from its centuries of development. From Spain, it would travel across the
Atlantic Ocean and soak into the meals of most central and south Americans. It
begins with rice. It is cooked to perfection, then stirred into boiling milk and
cinnamon. We allow it to simmer, stirring until it reaches the desired consistency.
The Pros And Cons Of The Holy Trinity Doctrine
Once, there were words saying If you try to explain the Trinity, you will lose your
mind, but if you deny it, you will lose your soul . (Pritchard) The knowledge of God
the Trinity is the center of the Christian faith. Yet many believers have got confused
in understanding the true natures of the personalities and relationships of each person
in Godthe Trinity. Endless questions continuously appear, again and again, giving
Christians a sense of extremely misty confusion towards the magnificent attributes
of every person in the Trinity. Who has an answer to these questions? None, none
but God Himself who has given us guidance through a lot of ways, as He is the
supreme creator and ruler of knowledge. The Bible itself is the strongest, richest, and

Early saints or early Christian teachers, have been discussing the Trinity deeply and
deliberately for decades, as it is one of the most complex teachings written in the
Bible. One of the most reliable doctrines of the Trinity is The Holy Trinity Doctrine.
The Holy Trinity Doctrine was one of the doctrines created during the first few ages
where Christianity just started developing. This doctrine was created in the Council
of Nicea in 325 AD. During this discussion, diverse points were given by theologists.
Thoughts named as Tritheism, Unitarism, and Arianism are present. Tritheism
focuses that there are three separate Gods, promoting polytheism, Unitarism focuses
on God the Father most, and separates Christ and the Holy Spirit into a different
category of deity, thus changing their divinity, and Arianism promotes Jesus Christ as
a creation of God during the Creation. Other than these three, there are also other
strong doctrines about the Trinity from the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed which
came from the Council of Nicea, and the Athanasian

We must know which visitors we can expect. For example, guests for a wedding
(because a wedding will be held in one of the halls of the hotel), or businessmen who
come for a business meeting, or a family on vacation.
To identify how our hotel can be likely to make use of, we ll use the primary market
research and the secondary market research.
The primary market research.
The primary market research is to gather new information by conducting market
research, interviews and surveys. This information we have collected through direct
contact with the guests. This research differs per business. Our hotel can overview
about the target markets through the surveys and interviews we have done.
The secondary market research.
Secondary market research involves the processing of information that is already
collected by previous researchers. For the secondary market research, I will use a

Problems With Nutritional Food Labels

Problems with Nutritional Food Labels
It is very common nowadays to walk into a restaurant and look at a menu and see a
side note with the amount of calories that each plate holds. As well as walking into a
grocery store, you will always notice a nutritional label on the food product. A
nutritional label tends to always be located on the back, front or side of the food
product. These nutritional labels are for educational use, used to inform
communities, consumers, and overall the people on what they are purchasing. Food
labels go all the way back to England, when the king in the 13th century proclaimed
the first food regulatory law, The assize of bread [lefever:2:2009]. The law
prohibited bakers from mixing ground peas and beans into bread dough [Lefevre:
2:2009]. Throughout the decades much has evolved and food regulations have been
enforced. In 1991 the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990 made it
mandatory for all foods to obtain nutritional facts and basic per serving nutritional
information in the U.S [Lefevre: pg3: 2009]. With this information it would enable
Americans to learn what the food product contains and as well to help us watch our
diet. Whether we want to eat healthy or be cautious about the ingredients used, these
labels are there to inform. These food labels contain information on calories, total fat,
sodium, protein and cholesterol all in percentages. Although these labels

being the leading cause of death and the incidence of diabetes continuing to increase.
These diseases are associated with psychosocial difficulties like depression and

The Negative Effects Of Colonization In India And India
Colonization is an immoral oppression that the serfs endure, as the tyrants strip basic
human rights and freedoms. Colonization is a socio economic scheme with a built in
objective to amass as much profit as possible on free labor. Subsequently, this results
in an exploitative relationship between the authoritarian figure and the laborers. India
and Pakistan suffered more loss than gain through the process of colonization by the
British Empire. The efforts of Gandhi and Jihan were ultimately failed, and the
conflict originated by the British lives on. By imposing the divided rule, and
enslaving individuals the British obstructed India s liberty and possible prosperity for
the future.
Arguments are formed surrounding the mixed effects of colonialism, as some are
able to detect certain enrichments. The British colonialists mistreated, shunned and
dehumanized the Indian populace to no avail. In the British Occupation Of India, the
British settlers express their white blood superiority and sketch a portrait of a
holistic Hindu whose traditional wear reminds them of dirty rags. The superior
attitude of the British terrorized many other countries, enslaving plethora of
individuals who were deemed as less. The unsettling factor in the documentary is
that the British witnessed the dire living conditions of the Indians yet made no
attempts at aid. One of the most positive legislations passed by the British is seen as
the ban of Suttee. What is seldom known is that it was
The Tipages And Advantages Of Calcium Silicate Bricks
Calcium silicate bricks are also called sand lime. They are often confused with
concrete bricks but these are much harder and would not scrape quite so easily.
Calcium silicate bricks are manufactured by mixing lime, sand or crushed
silicaceous together, with enough water to allow the mixture completely hydrated
to be moulded under high pressure. The bricks are then moved in and steam in
autoclaved for three to fourteen hours to speed the chemical hardening. Pigments
can be added during the mixing stage. In their natural state, calcium silicate bricks
are white to a creamy off white colour, but the addition of ochres (buff or cream
colours), iron oxides (pink, red, brown or black) or chrome oxide (green) can enable
a very wide variety of colours to be produced. It easily to cut thus increase its

Facilitating Change in Health and Social Care Essay
Introduction
This essay seeks to discuss the factors that facilitate change in health and social
care. This can be achieved by assessing the challenges that the major factors of
change bring using the Care Quality Commission of the Quality Care Commission
for the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust (RUHB). The second task aims to
evaluate contemporary changes being inaugurated in the provision of health and
social care services. In addition to this, a strategy and criteria will be devised in
order to measure these recent changes including how the impact of these changes can
be measured and evaluated.

The NHS Operating Framework introduced by the coalition government sets out the
planning and financial requirements for RUHB in 2012/13 and the basis of their
accountability (DH, 2012). As a result, the 2013 certified that funding for health in
England be frozen for up 2015/16 thereby requiring RUBH to underspend allocated
funding from the government such as putting a 1% cap on pay award. Socially, this
will include factors such as behavior of staff and service users, partnership working,
quality of care, etc. These factors can drive change in diverse ways in the RUHB. For
example, the NICE Guidelines on Behavior Change make recommendations on
individual level behavior interventions that is aimed at changing the behavior that can
be dangerous to the health of staff and service users such as smoking, alcohol abuse,
lack of physical activity, safe sex, etc. (NICE, 2014). Technologically, the introduction
of information communication technology has resulted in faster communication,
appropriate storing and sharing of information and records of service users between
health and social care professionals. As a result of the CQC inspection, the RUHB
revises their health records management policy to more accurately reflect where
information about service user such as fluid intake and output in each ward should
be recorded (CQC Report, 2013)

Essay On Antoni Gaudi
Antoni GaudГ, a Catalan architect has become internationally recognized as one of
the most prodigious experts in architecture, as well as the one of the top exponents of
modernism.
His exceptional ground breaking genius made him the inventor of a unique and
personal architectural language that defies classification. The work of GaudГ is
remarkable for its range of forms, textures, polychromy and for the free, expressive
way in which these elements of his art seem to be composed. The complex
geometries of a GaudГ building so coincide with its architectural structure that the
whole, including its surface, gives the appearance of being a natural object in

In 2010, the uncompleted church was consecrated as a basilica by Pope Benedict XVI.
The magnificence of Antoni GaudГ s architecture coincided, as the result of a
personal decision by the architect, with a progressive withdrawal by the man himself.
GaudГ, who in his youth had frequented theatres, concerts and tertulias ( social
gatherings), went from being a young dandy with gourmet tastes to neglecting his
personal appearance, eating frugally, and distancing himself from social life, while
simultaneously devoting himself even more fervently to a mystical and religious

GaudГ died on the 10th of June, 1926, after being knocked down by a tram while

Should Schools Get Rid Of Dress Codes
Lately, being dress coded has led to kids being sent home or, kids having to change
into their PE clothes. Has anyone else ever noticed how dress codes are more
targeted towards girls or, limit their freedom of expression? Or, how teachers and
staff label girls as distractions? The dress code implies that boys can t stop
themselves from looking at girls bodies, so, it s the girls fault when boys can t pay
attention in math. It s the girls who are taken out of class to change their clothes.
Getting rid of dress codes would give kids more freedom of expression, getting rid of

Essay on Tools of The Central Banks
Interest rates are a tool that central banks use to implement monetary policy. They
represent the percentage rate at which interest is paid by a borrower for the
privilege of using money that has been lent to them and the interest can be paid at
various time intervals. Higher interest rates will have an impact upon inflation and
employment and could lead to a reduction in consumer spending and investment.
The Bank of England meets every month to set the UK bank rate. There are nine
members of the Committee and they are appraised of all the latest data on the
economy and business conditions. Their task is to keep inflation below 2% but

Charlie Bean has suggested that any rises are in baby steps in order to avoid
making mistakes. In other words he thinks the Bank should be cautious this could
entail raising rates soon but at a smaller rate than has been implemented in the past,
for instance at a rate of increase of 0.1% instead of the previous normal rate of 0.25%.
It is generally accepted that low interest rates are inflationary and the Bank will be
watching for early signs that this is happening and try to move interest rates up early
to forestall it. Generally they would raise interest rates if they were concerned that
inflation was on the increase in order to reduce demand and slow the rate of
economic growth. At the present time there are no signs that inflation is picking up
with the latest CPI figure coming in at 1.8% which may be attributable to the output
gap.
Interest rate movements have the largest impact for individuals on savings, mortgages
and annuities, whilst for businesses it impacts the level of demand, interest on loans
and the present value of assets and liabilities.
Over the last 5 years savers have been badly hit by the low level of interest rates.
This has been particularly hard for pensioners with savings. Higher interest rates
would make it more attractive to save cash in deposit accounts as the level of interest
received would be higher than at present, thus reducing the need to take on extra risk

Tiered Reflection
The reflection this week asks us how we would differentiate instruction for writing a

asks for two specific differentiated learning tasks. One of the activities must involve a
tired activity, while the other can utilize any of the strategies suggested in the lesson.
For this particular reflection, I will focus my attention on an early middle schoollevel
activityto differentiate on writing a research paper. To begin the lesson, I would

writing. For the tiered activity, I would split students into three groups the first
having limited to no knowledge of research writing, the second having some
knowledge of the topic, and the third having a solid understanding of the research
writing process. Each student will receive a graphic organizer that they will use to

constant among all groups. To differentiate, group 1 or the group with the most

Ecology Interspecific Interactions Lab
Intro:
Ecology is the study of how organisms interact within their environment. Every
species interacts with its surroundings, whether it s within their populations,
community, ecosystem, etc. In this lab, we will be comparing two different species
and how they grow alone as well as together, in the same environment. More
specifically, in this lab, we will be dealing with one of the most important ideas in
ecology, the niche. Due to this concept, we can study the environmental
circumstances the organism can handle, the essential resources it will need to
survive, and how it will obtain these resources. Different species can hold similar

The carrying capacity determines the population level of a species according to the
limiting resources,
Algae is one of the most diverse and interesting organisms on the planet. This is
because there are over 10,000 unrelated species of organisms that contain
chlorophyll and live in large bodies of water or moist land. Keeping a count of
population size gives us a good indication of how certain species grow and interact
with one another. By using two different species of Algae we can determine what
types of interactions the two can encounter. The two species tested were Closterium
and Micrasterias algae. We labeled them as species 1 and 2. The purpose of this lab
is to determine whether the selected algae species will demonstrate competition or
resource partitioning with the coexistence of each other versus alone. At the end of
this lab we should be able to determine which species upheld the best under all of
these circumstances.
Methods:
This lab was performed with two different types of algae, Micrasterias and
Closterium. Within our groups, we counted how many of each species there were to
begin with. Each group sampled one micro liter of each algae stock, five times, and
then found the average of the five trials and converted it to milliliters. There were
three different test tubes of algae stock containing 100 individuals. The first
contained 100 Closterium,
Massage Chairs Advantages And Disadvantages
Massaging, an originally ancient therapy which involves the manipulation of
superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue (usually by hand) using
various techniques, has always been used as an antidote to stress and muscle tension,
promoting relaxation and well being, since ancient times.
Nowadays, massage chairs perform these activities and what s more, they are better
than people, never getting tired.

their convenience, privacy and portability.

Space on where to Put it
The first thing you should consider is whether you have a space available to put the
massage chair.
Massage chairs can be bulky and can be reclined, prohibiting you to position the
back of the massage chair close to a wall. So, you need to measure the space you have
in mind before selecting a chair. You can ask store s salesperson how much room
you need for the massage chair to be able to recline all the way, and whether the
particular model you re interested in will work in your space.
2. Who Will Use it?
Most massage chairs are designed for people with height of approximately 5 10 .
If you are significantly taller or shorter than 5 10 , you should give the massage
chair a test drive. Look out for models of chairs that are designed to automatically
adjust to the height of the user by sensing where the tops of the shoulders are. This is
the most ideal model for you.
Likewise, if you are not only the one using the chair, each person who will be using
it should check if the height of the seat of the chair is comfortable. There are some
massage chair seats that are quite low to the ground, this might be uncomfortable
for people 6 0 and over, or people with knee, hip, or low back pain.

Tuning Fork Physics
If you were to take a tuning fork and whack it against your knee you wouldn t hear
much of anything, unless you hold the tuning fork right next to your ear. And the
reason being is because a small tuning fork can t push very much air around. Now,
if you were to take that same tuning fork and whack it against a wooden surface the
sound should be a lot louder. This is because the vibrating tuning fork causes the
surface to vibrate. So long story short, or in other words, sound is produced when
something vibrates. Sound is apart of our everyday lives. Regardless of if it s the
sound of a leaking water faucet, the tapping of a pencil or even the whistling of

Suppose that a slinky is stretched out in a horizontal direction across the
classroom and that a pulse is introduced into the slinky on the left end by vibrating
the first coil left and right. Energy will begin to be transported through the slinky
from left to right. As the energy is transported from left to right, the individual
coils of the medium will be displaced leftwards and rightwards. In this case, the
particles of the medium move parallel to the direction that the pulse moves. This
type of wave is a longitudinal wave. Longitudinal waves are always characterized by
particle motion being parallel to wave motion. A surface wave is simply a wave
that travels alongside the surface of a medium, or to make it easier just think of

Analysis of the Article 1% by Joseph Stiglitz
In the article Of the 1%, by the 1%, for the 1% Joseph Stiglitz, a noble prize
winning economist, argues that the upper 1% controls about 40% of all wealth in
America. This top 1% has taken about a quarter of all income in America, and has
seen their income rise about 18% in the past decade. This has made the inequality
between classes in the US expand. Eventually, this inequality gap will even hurt
the top 1%, because the other 99% will either fight for a bigger piece or just stop
working all together. The top 1% can buy anything they need, but their fate realizes
on the other 99% to work hard and not fight back. If the 99% stopped working,
there would be a simple way to gain back money... that would be to raise taxes on
the rich. However, the rich get rich by capital gains, which have a low tax policy. So
overall, the upper percent can eventually learn, but a majority of the time it is too
little too late. Throughout the article, Stiglitz approaches the topic of the 1% and
how that prestigious group rarely tries benefiting anyone besides his or her self.
Joseph Stiglitz gets that point across and explains it well within his article. The topic
of the 1% only benefiting his or her self is extensively explained in the statement
about the rich not caring about common problems. The rich has a large sum of money
that they could invest into infrastructure, education, war and technology, but the
upper 1% does not wantto do that because it does benefit that group enough. I

sharing this wisdom was sometimes rather unpopular among other teachers. His
students loved him, they adored him. Plato adored Socrates right until the very end.
Apology Plato s recount of what happened in the courtroom on the day of Socrates
trial. During the trial Plato, and other students of Socrates, are sitting and laughing
quietly amongst themselves. They see all of the irony in the situation that the
accusers of the court simply do not. From studying Plato s ApologyI have learned that
Socrates was extremely sassy, he was an ass, and that, in the end, Socrates was
charged unjustly.
Plato s Apology was my first real introduction to the great teacher and philosopher
Socrates, and in this examination I learned that Socrates was extremely sarcastic.
Right from the beginning of this dialogue (in the first line!) Socrates delivers
words of sarcasm and great jest. His students, sitting in the wings knowing what he
truly means, are laughing with eachother. Socrates begins his apology, his
explanation, to the court with these words, How you felt, gentlemen of Athens,
when you heard my accusers, I do not know; but I well, I nearly forgot who I was,
they were so persuasive. (502) As explain in class, here Socrates is mocking the
court and his accusers. He is saying that the accusations against were so convincing
that he nearly believed the accusers when they were telling the accusations.
Sarcasm, in its own right, is used by those who are wise about the world; the more
users of sarcasm understand about the world the more cynical their comments are.
Sarcasm is merely a way for the wiser and well educated to export their opinions in
a satirical way. Saying this, it can be inferred that Socrates is extremely wise and
knowledgeable. He knows all that can be interpreted from his words, given that these
sassy lines are the first in the dialogue. Another example of this sass include when
Meletos is brought to the stand and Socrates questions him with silly inquiries that
can be answered with a short word.
Because of Socrates being so sarcastic, and often outright rude, he was very
unpopular among the other scholars and educated men of
Categories of Primarily Generalized and Partial Seizures
Seizures are classified into two broad categories primarily generalized and partial
seizures. A generalized seizure is characterized by loss of consciousness. There are
several sub types of generalized seizure. The first is an absence seizure, this usually
consist of brief spells of staring. This type of generalized seizureusually begins in
early childhood and diminishes as the child grows older. However, absence
seizures may continue until adulthood in some individuals (McKean, 2012). Next,
myoclonic seizures are characterized by quick jerking movements. Atonic seizures
display a sudden loss of tone and individuals frequently experience injuries related
to falls. Generalized tonic clonic seizures display a tonic extension of extremities
followed by clonic jerking. There can be variations of this type of seizure activity
demonstrating either more tonic motion or clonic (McKean, 2012). Partial seizures
initiate when there is an abnormal firing of neurons within the cerebral cortex. This
area within the cerebral cortex dictates the symptoms of the seizure activity. A
partial seizure can develop into a general seizure if both hemispheres are involved
(McKean, 2012). Partial seizures are subdivided into simple and complex. In a
complex partial seizure, the individual loses conciseness and has symptoms like lip
smacking, staring, picking at clothes, walking around aimlessly. In a simple partial
seizure the individual is awake and aware of the episode. The individual may
Ronald Reagan s Speech At The Brandenburg Gate Essay
Ronald Reagan s speech at the Brandenburg gate was one of the most impactful
and important speeches given during the cold war, and aided in the eventual
downfall of the Soviet Union. Reagan begins his speech by addressing the people
present and recognizing the freedom and feeling of history of the city of Berlin
has. He makes his first reference to previous speakers by saying, Twenty four years
ago, President John F. Kennedy visited Berlin, and speaking to the people of this
city and the world at the city hall. Well since then two other presidents have come,
each in his turn to Berlin. And today, I, myself, make my second visit to your city, (
Reagan 361) Ronald Reagan adeptly utilizes Ethos Pathos and Logos in his
Brandenburg Gate address, he attempts to sway the audience of the importance of
success of the marshal plan and western values as a whole, and convince the leader
of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, to open up the barrier which had divided
West and East Berlin since 1961. His first usage of pathos is when he addresses the
east berliners who were separated from the westerners by the Berlin walland tells
them, I join your fellow countrymen in the West, in this firm, this unalterable belief:
Es gibt nur ein Berlin. [There is only one Berlin.], (Reagan 361) This is a perfect
usage of pathos because he is using the native language in an attempt to create a
sense of unity and goodwill from him and the American people. President Reagan
also increases his

to reduce charges but saving times as the Netflix envelopes were not returned to the

Netflix also became a source of adverstisement for films not on huge budgets in
helping creating awareness about the movies. PROBLEM VOD VOD, which refers
to Video on Demand, is the recent video streaming technology where pay per view
programming merges with Internet downloading. Netflix has the challenge of
entering VOD market or not and how that would alter its business structure and
strategy as its purpose was to allow best home video viewing to its customers. As
Netflix faces serious competition from its competitors including Blockbuster, Disney
etc the decision is critical to not only profitability but also survival as the question is
how should Netflix enter the online video market? Any decision made on this issue
would impact not just the Netflix existing business model but its ability to sustain its
position as a giant in the media industry. Also its competitors have started

Analysis of the Argentine Center of Gravity in the Falkland/Malvinas Conflict By

The Argentine land component also was not a critical strength. The Argentine troops
on the Falklands, with few exceptions, were conscripts not trained to fight in the
hostile South Atlantic winter. The best forces the Argentine s possessed for this
action were the two battalions of mountain commandos at Comodoro Rivadavia.
However, they were kept at their base throughout the conflict as a hedge against a
possible attack by Chile.[ii] Despite having, in some cases, more firepower and
better equipment than the British forces, the Argentine land forces showed little
initiative or motivation to take the fight to the British, except in rare
circumstances.[iii] It might be tempting to cast the entire Argentine air component
as a Center of Gravity. Indeed, of the six British ships sunk during the conflict, four
were sunk by bomb attack; and of the eleven ships damaged, ten were victims of
bombs and strafing runs from the Argentine s Air Force and Naval Air Forces
Skyhawk, Mirage and Dagger aircraft. This compares to two ships sunk by air
launched Exocets. However, the circumstances that account for these numbers are the
same ones that prevent the entire Argentine air forces from becoming the Argentine
Center of Gravity. The Argentines paid a heavy price in bomb and strafing attacks;
suffering a 41% attrition rate in attack aircraft over the course of the conflict.[iv] All
of the British ships sunk by these
Words To Sit In Like Chairs By Naomi Shihab Nye Analysis
We all belong to some kind of group whether we know it or not. We are all a part of
something with people that are somewhat alike. Our group, however, does not
define us. There will be diversity in the group because everyone is different. In one
essay and one poem this theme is developed. Even if you are in a group with people
who are very much alike, they may have different opinions and thoughts. So, the
group that we re classified in does not define us. People can be brought together
because of their religion, but can have different mindsets and ideas. This is the case
in Words to Sit in Like Chairs by Naomi Shihab Nye. The author tells a true, personal
story about the aftermath of nine eleven to Arabs, not involved. She says ...If... Show

The poem is about immigrants coming to America. In the poem, it says Give me
your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free(665). The tired and
poor are people from other countries who are coming to America. They want to be
free from whatever country or trouble they are facing. America is letting them
come in and be free. This shows that even though all these people are from different
countries, are different religions and different races they all share the same goal
of being free. They can all come together and have a similarity of being Americans.
It also says in the poem Here at our sea washed , sunset gates shall stand a might

Mother of Exiles (665). The Mother of Exiles is the Statue of Liberty. She has
called this because all, different people have left their native country to be free and
be American. All the immigrants are from different parts of the world, but they are
exiled and leave for the freedom. They have a similarity of being

Cimorene, an extraordinary princess of Linderwall who doesn t want to be under
supervision, as a princess that does not think that the requirements of being a
princess apply to her. Cimorene leaves the castle to go live with the dragons of the
Mountains of Morning. Cimorene was not justified because if she marries
Therandil Linderwall will become a prosperous kingdom. Also, It is apart of
Cimorene s heritage to become a Queen. Finally if all her family members were to

wizards now want Cimorene dead and want to get revenge on the dragons. Also,
now that the wizards are going to come back she has to worry about the wizards
and not focus as much on Kazul. In the story Cimorene just finished melting the
wizards, but Morwen has some shocking news. Morwen and I talked for a long
time yesterday, and she says that melting a wizard isn t permanent (209). This goes
to show that it is certain that the wizards will start recurring trouble . This also
shows that the wizards will be determined to get back at Cimorene and the dragons.
To summarize, the wizards will be prepared for the soap sud filled water and will be

Discrimination, Discrimination And The Right Of A Person
Discrimination as used in the context of human rights in employment, a distinction,
exclusion, or preference based on one of the prohibited grounds that has the effect of
nullifying or impairing the right of a person to full and equal recognition and exercise
of his or her human rights and freedoms. (1). Unfortunately discriminationof
employees, weather direct or indirect is a common occurrence in today s business
environment. Hence laws are set up to protect employees from discriminations based
on: national origin, religion, age, sex, race, sexual orientation, harassment, marital
status, family status, disability, employer retaliation and enforcement. Based on the
newspaper article, the initial motion filed in the federal court by Saks stated, that
the discrimination lawsuit filed by their ex employee was to be dismissed, because
transsexuals are not protected under Title VII, (2) which is a section of the 1964
Civil Rights Act that bans employment discrimination based on race, religion or
gender. The ex employee, Leyth O. Jamal, 23, was terminated in July 2012 after she
filed a complaint to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, stating that
even though her manager was well aware of her transgender identity, he asked her
to behave in a more masculine way and even instructed her to use the men s
restroom. She also complained about a male colleague who repeatedly question if
she was a prostitute as well as made threats of violence. Almost three years
What Is The Theme Of Everyday Use Maggie s Heritage
In Everyday Use , a short story by Alice Walker, two sisters have very different
opinions and lifestyles when it comes to their culture. Maggie embraces her
heritage and partakes in its everyday style, while Dee would love to not be apart of
it, rather display it. Maggie accepts her heritage. She lives with her mom. Maggie
shows that she accepts and involves herself into her heritage most prominently by
wanting the quilt their grandmother made. Maggie can t appreciate these quilts!
she said. She d probably be backward enough to put them to use everyday use.
(Walker 64) This shows that Maggie is proud of her heritage. She differs from Dee
because she d rather live like her mom, just like their ancestors before them. I like

Definitions Of A Novice And Expert Responses Essay
Throughout the paper, we will compare a novice and expert responses to certain
mathematical concepts in order to recognize the different techniques they practice.
We will interpret the procedures they use to make connections and to check their
level of comprehension on a specific mathematical concept. An expert typically has a
broad interpretation and connects their ideas to more concepts, in this case
introducing graphs, definitions, formulas and physics whereas the novice will have
useful knowledge about the subject without making as many connections. The expert
is Mr. Thilina Shihan, a doctoral student in Physics with a Masters and Bachelors in
Math and Science whereas the novice, Guillermo Vasquez is a Computer Science and
Physics Major. In the clinical interview, if mathematical concepts are introduced by
gradually increasing the difficulty of the questions, then the comprehension level
between a novice and an expert will be significantly visible when comparing their
responses. Both interviewees made different connections of the usage of
differentiation within the mathematics and science world. According to Vasquez, the
definition of mathematics is the manipulation of meaningless symbols according to
some rules, whereas Shihan considers math to be the science of numbers (2016). This
leads us to our next question, connecting math to other concepts Vasquez says that
math is the base for all other sciences like physics, chemistry biology, and general

Essay on Asian Art Museum in San Francisco
Asian Art Museum in San Francisco
During the first week of September, I made a trip with a friend to the Asian Art
Museum in San Francisco. Every first Sunday of the month, admission into the
museum is free. It is my first time to visit there and I was most impressed with the
huge number of Buddhas on display. Most of the pieces are in excellent condition.
It is amazing 600 year old pottery and all these stone statues of Buddha that looks
like it was made yesterday. What really brings this place to life for me are the
brilliant combination of social mixers and live performance events mixed with
cultural education. Asian Art Museum in San Francisco has a collection of about

Moreover, with origins in Pakistan, it is no wonder that their regional depiction of
Maitreya is much different than the Chinese Buddhist images I m used to. Over the
centuries, two main branches of Buddhism emerged: a transmission that traveled to
Southeast Asia, and a transmission that evolved in East Asia.
1. Theravada Buddhism
Theravada is believed to be the oldest form of Buddhism. The term itself comes into
use later, but the Theravada tradition upholds the monastic path and adheres to the
oldest surviving recorded sayings of the Buddha, collectively called the Pali canon.
These original texts were set down in the Pali language by monks in Sri Lanka in the
first century ce. Prior to this codification, teachings had been transmitted orally, and
concern arose that original texts must be preserved in light of the growing heterodoxy
that was developing in India. Theravada recognizes the primacy and humanity of the
historical Buddha. The Buddha was an exemplary figure. Enlightenment is an
arduous task, available only to monks who explicitly pursue the path of Shakyamuni
himself. Theravada is the dominant form of Buddhism today in Sri Lanka as well as
Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. The subject matter of Buddhist
art from these traditions focuses on life events of the Buddha.
2. Mahayana Buddhism
Mahayana is a philosophical movement that proclaimed the possibility of universal
salvation, offering
The English Patient Film Compared with the Novel Essay...
The English Patient Film Compared with the Novel
The Novel:
The English Patient is a fantastic novel and is one of the few truly great novels
written in the last century. The author, Sri Lankan Michael Ondaatje, switches
wonderfully between several scenes: the desert, the Villa San Girolamo in Tuscany,
Italy, Dorset in England and Cairo. Each one of these perfectly crafted scenes is
brought into being in an exciting and thought provoking way. The book is centred on
four main characters: Hana, a Canadian nurse who has taken it upon herself to be
separated from the other medical staff and remains behind in a mine laden villa to
tend to just one patient, the English patient; Kip, a Sikh who was, ... Show more

The desert in the film is done very well and deserves a lot of credit. I feel that it is
portrayed very well. The desert seems to be very much the main scene in the film,
with the plot focussing on this aspect of the novel. However, in the novel, the
desert is by no means the most important scene; it is in fact the Villa. I personally
don t seem to mind this too much and I feel that it is no injustice to the book. I also
think that the desert portrays namelessness and nationlessness very well. Although
the scene where they are having a Christmas lunch in the dessert is not particularly
special and does not really add anything positive to the film, it does portray the
theme of namelessness and nationlessness very well, as the idea of having a
Christmas lunch in the desert with a man dressed in a father Christmas suit is very
obscure.
The scene at El Taj, where AlmГsy tries to borrow a jeep from the English is done
brilliantly. It is a huge contrast to the rest of the film, as it reminds us that although
there is this feeling of nationlessness and namelessness, there is still a war going on,
and this comes before anything. So when AlmГ sy goes to el Taj, we are brought
back to reality about how there I this war that is going on. I personally believe that

  • 1. 100 Word Essay Crafting an essay on the topic "100 Word Essay" poses a unique challenge. The irony of encapsulating a comprehensive thought within such a confined space creates a paradoxical struggle. The brevity demanded demands precision, forcing one to distill complex ideas into succinct phrases. Every word becomes a battleground, vying for inclusion in the limited canvas. Striking a balance between depth and conciseness is an art that requires finesse. Moreover, the self-imposed constraint intensifies the need for creativity and ingenuity. Successfully navigating this terrain necessitates a deep understanding of the subject, strategic word choices, and a mastery of economical expression. It's a mental gymnastics exercise, a linguistic puzzle to be solved. She was a French saint who saved France from England and Burgundians during the Hundred Years War (insert citation). I chose her because she demonstrated many characteristics and her story is very unique. She lost her life at a very young age and was only canonized as a saint, hundreds of years after her death. She believed in God so much that it helped her achieve her destiny. She was born as a peasant girl in 1412 in the small village of DomrГ©my (insert citation). Her father was a tenant farmer and both her parents were very religious (insert citation). She was not taught to read or write yet she received a deep love and interest for Catholic
  • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Chief Powhatan A leader has many responsibilities as a role model and caretaker for their people. Facing hard challenges and knowing how to deal with them is a part of being a great leader all of which are Chief Powhatan showed. Chief Powhatan whose proper name was Wahunsenacawh, was the superior chief of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of Algonquian speaking VirginiaIndians in the Tidewater region of Virginia at the time English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607. In his address to Captain John Smith Chief Powhatanexpresses how he desires peace between the settlers and the Tsenacommacah. He utilizes distinct rhetorical elements such as rhetorical questions, diction and argumentation to further support his view on what he desired to occur between his people and the English settlers. Chief Powhatan begins to address his statement by using rhetorical questions in order to support his claim of peace. For example in lines 5 through 7 Powhatan says Why should you take by force that from us which you can have by love? Why should you destroy us who have provided you with food? What can you get by war? Obviously Powhatan doesn t expect Captain John Smith to answer his questions but he uses this in order to create a growing tension that drives a questioning mentality about whether using force is the best method when love is another alternative. He also recounts on how it is unwise and unethical to break ties with the people who have fed and given shelter to the settlers. Without them the settlers would be starving and freezing to death turning to barbaric methods of survival. In line 9, he continues to support his claim by saying what is the cause of this jealousy? , this is important because the settlers became envious of how the Tsenacommacah were so well developed, having shelter, and food. Having these benefits over the settlers Powhatan came to the conclusion that the settlers would attempt to pilfer all that the Tsenacommacah had acquired. With this in mind Powhatan decides to express his desire for peace so that neither side would eventually aim for violence from lines 9 through 15. Chief Powhatan continues to enhance his argument by using diction to add more emotion and meaning to the message he is trying to convey.
  • 4. Native American Conquistadors Native American History Although the conquistadors and colonists believed they were contributing to making Native American life simpler and easier by converting them to Christianity and teaching them how to read and write the consequences of their actions almost eliminated an entire race as well as caused inexplicable harm to Native American culture. Before the conquistadors and colonists ventured out to the New World and began destroying and corrupting Native American culture, signs of the first people in the America s was visible since the ice age, thousands of years ago (History of Native Americans). As the Ice Age ended however, the changes in climate and increasing populations lead many to settle scarcely throughout North America, South America, and Central America (Native American History). As Native Americans began settling in North America, cultivation and farming became popularized. Their nomadic lifestyle of hunting buffalo and bison slowly shifted to a semi nomadic lifestyle where living in large tribes became the norm (Minority Rights). Therefore the brutal forms and mechanisms the colonists as well as the Spaniards used to colonize Native American people should not be exalted and seen as an act of kindness but instead seen as genocide for ninety percent of the Native American race was killed. An Estimated ten to ninety million Native Americans were living in North America during Christopher Columbus s arrival in the Americas (Native American History). Before
  • 5. The Republican Party Essay Though the Republican Party was founded on pro minority ideals and continued to have the support of minorities its reputation quickly began to change. Wagner (2007) states that during the early late 1800s and the early 1900s, Republican support weakened among the working class. In addition, many Americans, including a sizable number of Republicans, believed that American society had lost its moral fiber. As a result of these factors, many Republicans became affiliated with the Progressive Movement, a reform movement designed to assist the working class attain better working conditions in the form of religious fundamentalism. During the Progressive Era, the Republican Partysplit into two groups: those Republicans interested primarily in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rueter (1995) provides a detailed look into the world of politics during the civil rights era. Rueter asserts that prior to the civil rights era, the Republican Party was not as effective in gaining rights for minorities compared to proposals made by the Democratic Party in the 1960s. He states that it was clear to minorities that the Democratic Party was more supportive of civil rights versus Republicans due to their lack of voting support of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Because of this, Republicans were seen as being against minorities due to their lack of cooperation with the Democratic Party to end segregation and with President Johnson to allow equal voting rights (240 1). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 barred unequal application of voter registration requirements, outlawed discrimination in public accommodations engaged in interstate commerce, encouraged the desegregation of public schools and authorized the U. S. Attorney General to file suits to force desegregation, authorized the withdrawal of federal funds from programs which practiced discrimination, and outlawed discrimination in employment in any business (Loevy 1997, 211 3). According to Klarman (2004) the civil rights movement caused southerners to cling to the Republican Party and gave the Democratic Party more momentum to further support minority interests. The Republican Party s inability to quickly
  • 6. A Speech On The Rotary Club Greenwood Rotary Club May 2, 2016 It s honor to be with you again. This is an exciting time for our university and our community, and we have a lot to be thankful for. Spring commencement is coming up in a few days, and we will be awarding around 2,600 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Our total for the academic year will surpass 4,000 for the fifth year in a row. Providing more college educated workers and leaders for our state is a top priority. We just produced our 18th Truman Scholar. It is the second year in a row that one of our students has earned that high honor, recognizing the nation s top students planning careers in public service. This spring we also had a new Goldwater Scholar, a prestigious national honor for students in science, engineering and technology. Our baseball team is back near the top, ranked in the top five nationally and shutting out Ole Miss in the Governor s Cup last week. Our women s basketball team had its best season ever, reaching the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. The support of our alumni and friends is amazing. A few months ago our current Infinite Impact capital campaign reached its $600 million goal, three years ahead of schedule. And as you may have read or heard, last week we announced a new goal $1 billion by the end of 2018 the largest campaign goal ever for an educational institution in Mississippi. And I am personally thankful that the Legislative session is over. As I told our IHL Board of Trustees during its
  • 7. Abolition Of Pennies The U.S have been producing pennies for over a 200 years now and over time it has become very useless to the society. A penny is only one cent and to most people that is worthless. Pennies were more valued around the 1950s, when the products were very cheap to buy. As technology evolved, and as products got more expensive, the use of dollar bills and greater got more valuable. The abolition of the penny needs to happen in the United States. Because pennies are outdated, therefore the United States should abolish the pennies, since there s no single products that can be purchased with a penny. Pennies are so worthless in this new century, but yet the united states are still producing millions of pennies every day. The U.S economy has increased
  • 8. Persuasive Speech About Otp Why you should care You are receiving the worst possible deal. Let me recap. OTPs are constructs based on content we consume on screens or on stages. They are a hunt for photos and videos showing interactions between two idols in order to understand a relationship or refine a story. Unless the group breaks apart, that hunt will never end. In order to observe the interactions, we consume content and stay engaged with that group. In the process, we spend a lot of time and probably money while gaining nothing. Nothing. What do you gain from your OTP? Happiness? Entertainment? Please. We know of better ways. We do not want to here it but here is the truth: Our OTP is an addiction. It will not put us in a hospital, but it does leave damage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We engage in a seemingly reciprocal relationship with that group. Of course, this is an illusion. The members of the group do not know us. They have no idea who we truly are. Still, broadcasts feel like we know them better than some of our friends. But we do not. The key idea is that because we feel close to our idols, we regularly consume their content and buy their products. Engagement results in revenue, not a hundred percent, but obviously enough to create entire show buildings. OTPs are one of the ways we keep engaged with a group. Remember, the relationship that we see between two idols is not the whole story. Relationships develop off camera. OTPs exist because we make assumptions about those relationships and project our wishes onto them. However, as OTPs keep us fans engaged, companies actively cultivate them in order to generate revenue. This is why interactions are promoted and not cut. This is why they are predictable. This is why you will never see an OTP fighting. We should be able to identify with our ideas of the OTP. Why OTPs are

Napoleon And Satire Charlie Chaplin and Horace do a phenomenal job entertaining and explaining the idea and use of satire in both of their works. The satire in Horace s Book I Sat I and satire in Modern Times are different as satire in Horace uses satire in the ideas of people such as merchants and soldiers, while satire in Modern Times is about the things happening around the little tramp and the things the little tramp is doing. They are also similar as they both use many types of satirical devices such as ironyand both use humor to entertain the idea of satire. In book I satire I, Horace begins essentially complaining about others complaining about themselves. How come, Maecenas, no one alive s ever content with the lot he chose or the fate threw in his way .
  • 10. The Work Of A Mercenary The job of a mercenary, fighting a war or performing some sort of military duty, for pay, without nationalist allegiance, has been a job ...since the dawn of warfare, from Xenophon s ten thousand Greeks hired to fight in Persia to the Swiss Guards who protect the Vatican today (Blood and Treasure). Simply put, Mercenaries are nothing new. However only in the last 60 or so years has a new, modern form of mercenarywork come into practice. Modern mercenaries today often function in the form of a Private MilitaryCorporation or PMC. These are corporations that train and deploy often elite fighting forces to fulfill contracts paid for by various clients, most of the time governments. These corporations are rather controversial for a number... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After successfully using Private Military Companies in Vietnam, the United States continued their use, doling out contracts to corporations during the later Cold War Era. During this time many United State PMCs were tied to tasks too dirty for the U.S. government. (Avant) The use of private military companies has continued ever since and has only grown in scale. Other than the size of the Industry, not much has changed in PMCs. They still receive funding mainly from their clients, who are often national governments, and from their investors if they are publicly held corporations. In terms of the size of the market, the PMC market was expected to grow in net revenue from $55.6 billion to $202 billion between the years of 1990 and 2010. These predictions had merit especially in the 90s when the stock value of public PMCs grew two times faster than the Dow Jones Industrial Average (Avant). Since their inception private military companies have claimed to provide services of elite and precise military force for nations and organizations; these organizations claim that they are better suited for the job than a military and they do not shy away from the fact that they are motivated entirely by money. Erik Prince comes to the defence of PMCs, as he is the founder and CEO of perhaps the best known PMC in the world, Blackwater. He says on the matter of
  • 11. Candide Analysis The world is full of people of different character and reasoning. While some people tend to be so confident regardless of their obstacles in life, others are however so negative such that they can see any positive aspect of any good thing that comes to them. Candide is a literary work which is considered Voltaires signature work was published in the year of 1759. Candideis written as a satire; however, it is written in the third person while focusing on Candide s experience and perspective he encounters in life while searching for his lost love. Voltaire s work takes on criticisms of philosophy, cruelty, the church, and nobility which seems to stem from his plights in life. Candide, the protagonist, travels the world where he becomes a conduit of many outside factors which test his reason of justice and optimism, although they are reactivated through faith and through the events he encounters in life. Voltaire uses three main characters, Candide, Pangloss, and Martin to show the contrast that people shows when it comes to their perception of life issues and to challenge the assumption of the Age of reason. Pangloss who is a philosopher and Candide s tutor shows the positive attitude of being optimistic about life. According to Pangloss, he believes that the world is the best place of all possible worlds and therefore anyone can achieve what he thinks is best for him. Although Candide is tutored by Pangloss, he does have doubts in Pangloss philosophy because of his

  • 15. The 11 Principles Of Quality Quality. Such a simple word with a multitude of meanings. I must admit, prior to this course, I was rather naГЇve about what quality entailed. I definitely did not have a concrete definition of what quality was or stood for. It simply seemed as though quality was something that worked most of the time. After the studies from this course I have a much better grasp of how to define qualityand what exactly quality means in various areas of life and business. For instance, the 11 Baldrige Principles of Quality are an easily used metric for defining the quality of an organization. Previously, I never would have used these 11 principles to define an organization as quality. Now, I find it hard not to view an organization in relation to the 11... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thankfully, the Baldrige principles changed my perspective on quality. As such, I now use a few of the principles to grade an organization. The main principles I find myself grading an organization with are visionary leadership, customer centered excellence, valuing workforce members and partners and societal responsibility. All eleven of the principles are important. However, these tend to be the most important to me when defining the quality of an organization. For instance, I now purchase many products from the Newman s Own brand based on the principles I have mentioned. They have a strong sense of societal responsibility and ensure 100% of profits to charity is an underlying theme in all they do (Newman s Own, n.d.). This drew me towards them as a company, then I noticed how much they value their employees and how their core values tend to line up with the 11 Baldrige principles (Newman s Own, n.d.). After looking into this company and seeing how they operate, I decided to purchase as many products as I could from them and ensure other people were aware of their mission. This is something that would never have been in my realm of possibilities prior to this course. This is not to say I was unaware of being socially responsible prior to this course. It is simply highlighting how my thought pattern has been modified since learning about these specific 11 Baldrige Principles of Quality. After having such an epiphany about quality and how I grade various

Security has its importance and application in wide area. It is a measure of human negligence, in desire to enclose the latest technological inventions. This measure may have drastic effect on human conception to the positioning of application, which needs a determined concern in terms of security. Audio steganographyis the science of hiding some secret text or audio files in a host audio file by using different algorithms to retrieve the original data. The main challenge in audio steganography is to obtain high payload and efficiency. There are wide varieties of techniques such as LSB, parity coding, phase coding, spread spectrum etc., are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus steganography is said to be a covert communication. In contrast to Cryptography , where the enemy is allowed to detect, intercept and modify messages without being able to violate certain security premises guaranteed by a cryptosystem, the goal of Steganography is to hide messages inside other harmless messages in a way that does not allow any enemy to even detect that there is a presence of second message [1]. Both steganography and cryptography are meant for secret communication but the approach is different. Hiding of secret message using steganography can be done in different forms like text steganography, image steganography, audio steganography and video steganography. Encoding secret messages in audio is the most challenging task while using steganography because human auditory system (HAS) is more perceptive than human visual system (HVS) [5]. Thus audio file is used as a cover file to hide secret data and it is called audio steganography. In Audio steganography, secret message is embedded into digitized audio signal which results into altering the binary sequence of corresponding audio file. There are several methods are available for audio
  • 17. Anderson And Hemingways Use Of The First Person Essay quot;It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. quot;At one point in his short story, quot;Big Two Hearted River: Part II quot;, Hemingway s character Nick speaks in the first person. Why he adopts, for one line only, the first person voice is an interesting question, without an easy answer. Sherwood Anderson does the same thing in the introduction to his work, Winesburg, Ohio. The first piece, called quot; The Book of the Grotesque quot;, is told from the first person point of view. But after this introduction, Anderson chooses not to allow the first person to narrate the work. Anderson and Hemingway both wrote collections of short stories told in the third person, and the intrusion of the first person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nick tries as hard as he can, but the fish snaps the line and escapes. Then, as Nick thinks about the fate of the trout which got away, Hemingway writes, quot;He felt like a rock, too, before he started off. By God, he was a big one. By God, he was the biggest one I ever heard of. quot; This sudden switch to first person narration is startling to the reader. Until this point Hemingway had solely used third person narration, but he did it so well that the reader feels as one with Nick. It is not definite whether this is Nick or Hemingway speaking. It could easily be either of the two. Hemingway doesn t include, quot;he thought, quot; or, quot;he said to himself, quot; and so it is unclear. The result is the same regardless. Using first person narration at this point serves to make the story more alive, more personal. It jolts the reader into realizing the humanity of Nick; he is no longer the object of a story but a real person. If Nick is making so much stir over it that he speaks directly to the reader, he must feel passionately about it. Or if Hemingway is so moved by the size of the trout that he exclaims at its size, I can only accept that Nick also feels this excitement. The sudden intrusion of the first person narrator makes the story more complete and its only character more life like. It also brings the reader into the story as a listener. Sherwood Anderson s collection of short stories, Winesburg,

Therefore, the plague narrative also serves a function of demonstrating who Yahweh is to His own people. Israel must also know Yahweh as we see in Exodus 10:2. Throughout the narrative, we see many allusions to the Egyptian gods and the impotence of these gods before God of Israel.9 There are multiple gods in the Egyptian temple. As an example, in the first plague, the Nile River was turned into blood. The river was an important source of fertility to the land of Egypt. Thus, it was dedicated to many gods (Osiris, Hapi, Sepek etc.) of the Egyptians.10 By turning the river into blood, it eloquently reveals the power of Yahweh and the inferiority of Egyptian gods. For the Egyptians who looked to various gods associated with the Nile, this event would have produced many questions for their faith. Even the magicians had to acknowledge in the third plague that it is the finger of God as they could not replicate it (Exod. 8:19). As for the Israelites, the plague narrative is a reminder of the mighty and awesome power of God who had chosen them and kept His promise. A reminder that would help to strengthen their faith in Him. Each plague brings deeper knowledge and understanding of Yahweh. They are not simply acts of judgment, but something that God uses to reveal Himself. Because they are more than just punishments, they fail to actually secure Israel s release each time. As signs , they are used to

  • 20. Relationship Between A Mother And Daughters Essay Almost every woman in North America has some form of a relationship with their daughter or mother, or both. However, these relationships can vary in amiability and affection. Whether due to similarities or differences in personality or circumstances in life, mothers and daughters can be close confidants or fierce foes. These familial relationships have been studied in part by Marianne Hirsch and Sharon M. Varallo in their essays on the familial gaze and the genre of familyphotographs, respectively. In this essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and Varallo to analyze two different motherdaughter relationships presented in the television show Gilmore Girls. The two relationships differ vastly in their outward appearance, however both relationships show underlying characteristics of both friendship and animosity. Overall, these two mother daughter relationships demonstrate that the love between a mother and a daughter can be expressed in various ways. Gilmore Girls follows the lives of three women in the Gilmore family. Rory, the youngest, is a teenager at the beginning of the show. She is an only child and was raised by her single mother, Lorelai, in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai is in her thirties throughout the show. She became pregnant with Rory when she was sixteen, and left her wealthy parents home to raise Rory alone. Emily, the eldest Gilmore girl, is in her fifties and sixties during the show. To me, this response paper is an attempt to ponder, explore and, possibly, answer this question. In doing so, I will connect my interpretations with the personal experience in order to critically reflect on the meaning of labyrinths in Borges s story. Overall, I argue that the labyrinths help me understand how the fantasies of time and imagination of nature are intricately connected with the male centered sociopolitical fantasy of triumph, motivation and desire. I asked myself, Who gets to make these historical decisions and, consequently, create and recreate time and choices? Who benefits from these decisions that seem to be grounded in male centered fantasies of the German rulers, spies, and other heroes? What is nature in this story? The more I try to grasp the ungraspable meaning of the story itself, the more I realize that the story can not be understood in linear dimensions. I have to enter the labyrinth and journey together with Dr. Tsun s monologues and dialogues, as well as I have to enter into the labyrinth of my sense of self. In doing so, I can develop a personal connection with this story and understand it better. First of all, I think that Tsun was motivated by his resistance to German nationalism and racism of the time. He served Germany not to support their war, but to win his own battle field. He wanted to combat the dominant sociopolitical fantasy of his life. Even though the German chiefs perceived him as being racially inferior to them, Tsun was highly motivated and driven to disprove this socially unjust fantasy. His desire to triumph over racism has led him to find inner strength in his past. Personally, I am surprised by Tsun s cultivated desire to win over the dominant fantasy and to resist social injustice. I don t understand how one might

Problems With Nutritional Food Labels Herrera Zaima Professor Van Dyke English 103 18 December 2015 Problems with Nutritional Food Labels It is very common nowadays to walk into a restaurant and look at a menu and see a side note with the amount of calories that each plate holds. As well as walking into a grocery store, you will always notice a nutritional label on the food product. A nutritional label tends to always be located on the back, front or side of the food product. These nutritional labels are for educational use, used to inform communities, consumers, and overall the people on what they are purchasing. Food labels go all the way back to England, when the king in the 13th century proclaimed the first food regulatory law, The assize of bread [lefever:2:2009]. The law prohibited bakers from mixing ground peas and beans into bread dough [Lefevre: 2:2009]. Throughout the decades much has evolved and food regulations have been enforced. In 1991 the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990 made it mandatory for all foods to obtain nutritional facts and basic per serving nutritional information in the U.S [Lefevre: pg3: 2009]. With this information it would enable Americans to learn what the food product contains and as well to help us watch our diet. Whether we want to eat healthy or be cautious about the ingredients used, these labels are there to inform. These food labels contain information on calories, total fat, sodium, protein and cholesterol all in percentages. Although these labels

Keeping a count of population size gives us a good indication of how certain species grow and interact with one another. By using two different species of Algae we can determine what types of interactions the two can encounter. The two species tested were Closterium and Micrasterias algae. We labeled them as species 1 and 2. The purpose of this lab is to determine whether the selected algae species will demonstrate competition or resource partitioning with the coexistence of each other versus alone. At the end of this lab we should be able to determine which species upheld the best under all of these circumstances. Each group sampled one micro liter of each algae stock, five times, and then found the average of the five trials and converted it to milliliters. There were three different test tubes of algae stock containing 100 individuals. The first contained 100 Closterium,

Massage Chairs Advantages And Disadvantages Massaging, an originally ancient therapy which involves the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue (usually by hand) using various techniques, has always been used as an antidote to stress and muscle tension, promoting relaxation and well being, since ancient times. Nowadays, massage chairs perform these activities and what s more, they are better than people, never getting tired. Massage chairs are fast becoming a replacement for human massage therapists for their convenience, privacy and portability. A massage chair has quickly become a beneficial addition to everyday living, providing both physical and psychological effects helping to reduce and relieve common symptoms of back pain and neck pain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Space on where to Put it The first thing you should consider is whether you have a space available to put the massage chair. Massage chairs can be bulky and can be reclined, prohibiting you to position the back of the massage chair close to a wall. So, you need to measure the space you have in mind before selecting a chair. You can ask store s salesperson how much room you need for the massage chair to be able to recline all the way, and whether the particular model you re interested in will work in your space. 2. Who Will Use it? Most massage chairs are designed for people with height of approximately 5 10 . If you are significantly taller or shorter than 5 10 , you should give the massage chair a test drive. Look out for models of chairs that are designed to automatically adjust to the height of the user by sensing where the tops of the shoulders are. This is the most ideal model for you. Likewise, if you are not only the one using the chair, each person who will be using it should check if the height of the seat of the chair is comfortable. There are some massage chair seats that are quite low to the ground, this might be uncomfortable for people 6 0 and over, or people with knee, hip, or low back pain. 3. Its

And the reason being is because a small tuning fork can t push very much air around. Now, if you were to take that same tuning fork and whack it against a wooden surface the sound should be a lot louder. This is because the vibrating tuning fork causes the surface to vibrate. So long story short, or in other words, sound is produced when something vibrates. Sound is apart of our everyday lives. Regardless of if it s the sound of a leaking water faucet, the tapping of a pencil or even the whistling of wind, we re surrounded by the physics of sound at all times. Sound waves come in various... Suppose that a slinky is stretched out in a horizontal direction across the classroom and that a pulse is introduced into the slinky on the left end by vibrating the first coil left and right. Energy will begin to be transported through the slinky from left to right. As the energy is transported from left to right, the individual coils of the medium will be displaced leftwards and rightwards. In this case, the particles of the medium move parallel to the direction that the pulse moves. This type of wave is a longitudinal wave. Longitudinal waves are always characterized by particle motion being parallel to wave motion. A surface wave is simply a wave that travels alongside the surface of a medium, or to make it easier just think of ocean waves. The large wall of moving water is what gives the surfer an amazing ride. The surfer gets pushed forward as though they re as light as a feather and all he needs to do is keep his balance on the surfboard. The incredible power of the wave will do the rest. Analysis of the Article 1% by Joseph Stiglitz In the article Of the 1%, by the 1%, for the 1% Joseph Stiglitz, a noble prize winning economist, argues that the upper 1% controls about 40% of all wealth in America. This top 1% has taken about a quarter of all income in America, and has seen their income rise about 18% in the past decade. This has made the inequality between classes in the US expand. Eventually, this inequality gap will even hurt the top 1%, because the other 99% will either fight for a bigger piece or just stop working all together. The top 1% can buy anything they need, but their fate realizes on the other 99% to work hard and not fight back. If the 99% stopped working, there would be a simple way to gain back money... that would be to raise taxes on the rich. However, the rich get rich by capital gains, which have a low tax policy. So overall, the upper percent can eventually learn, but a majority of the time it is too little too late. Throughout the article, Stiglitz approaches the topic of the 1% and how that prestigious group rarely tries benefiting anyone besides his or her self. Joseph Stiglitz gets that point across and explains it well within his article. The topic of the 1% only benefiting his or her self is extensively explained in the statement about the rich not caring about common problems. The rich has a large sum of money that they could invest into infrastructure, education, war and technology, but the upper 1% does not wantto do that because it does benefit that group enough. I
  • 44. Rhetorical Analysis Of Socrates Socrates, the great philosopher and teacher was a man of great wisdom. His way of sharing this wisdom was sometimes rather unpopular among other teachers. His students loved him, they adored him. Plato adored Socrates right until the very end. Apology Plato s recount of what happened in the courtroom on the day of Socrates trial. During the trial Plato, and other students of Socrates, are sitting and laughing quietly amongst themselves. They see all of the irony in the situation that the accusers of the court simply do not. From studying Plato s ApologyI have learned that Socrates was extremely sassy, he was an ass, and that, in the end, Socrates was charged unjustly. Plato s Apology was my first real introduction to the great teacher and philosopher Socrates, and in this examination I learned that Socrates was extremely sarcastic. Right from the beginning of this dialogue (in the first line!) Socrates delivers words of sarcasm and great jest. His students, sitting in the wings knowing what he truly means, are laughing with eachother. Socrates begins his apology, his explanation, to the court with these words, How you felt, gentlemen of Athens, when you heard my accusers, I do not know; but I well, I nearly forgot who I was, they were so persuasive. (502) As explain in class, here Socrates is mocking the court and his accusers. He is saying that the accusations against were so convincing that he nearly believed the accusers when they were telling the accusations. Sarcasm, in its own right, is used by those who are wise about the world; the more users of sarcasm understand about the world the more cynical their comments are. Sarcasm is merely a way for the wiser and well educated to export their opinions in a satirical way. Saying this, it can be inferred that Socrates is extremely wise and knowledgeable. He knows all that can be interpreted from his words, given that these sassy lines are the first in the dialogue. Another example of this sass include when Meletos is brought to the stand and Socrates questions him with silly inquiries that can be answered with a short word. Because of Socrates being so sarcastic, and often outright rude, he was very unpopular among the other scholars and educated men of

A generalized seizure is characterized by loss of consciousness. There are several sub types of generalized seizure. The first is an absence seizure, this usually consist of brief spells of staring. This type of generalized seizureusually begins in early childhood and diminishes as the child grows older. However, absence seizures may continue until adulthood in some individuals (McKean, 2012). Next, myoclonic seizures are characterized by quick jerking movements. Atonic seizures display a sudden loss of tone and individuals frequently experience injuries related to falls. Generalized tonic clonic seizures display a tonic extension of extremities followed by clonic jerking. There can be variations of this type of seizure activity demonstrating either more tonic motion or clonic (McKean, 2012). Partial seizures initiate when there is an abnormal firing of neurons within the cerebral cortex. This area within the cerebral cortex dictates the symptoms of the seizure activity. A partial seizure can develop into a general seizure if both hemispheres are involved (McKean, 2012). Partial seizures are subdivided into simple and complex. In a complex partial seizure, the individual loses conciseness and has symptoms like lip smacking, staring, picking at clothes, walking around aimlessly. In a simple partial seizure the individual is awake and aware of the episode. The individual may

The Argentine land component also was not a critical strength. The Argentine troops on the Falklands, with few exceptions, were conscripts not trained to fight in the hostile South Atlantic winter. The best forces the Argentine s possessed for this action were the two battalions of mountain commandos at Comodoro Rivadavia. However, they were kept at their base throughout the conflict as a hedge against a possible attack by Chile.[ii] Despite having, in some cases, more firepower and better equipment than the British forces, the Argentine land forces showed little initiative or motivation to take the fight to the British, except in rare circumstances.[iii] It might be tempting to cast the entire Argentine air component as a Center of Gravity. Indeed, of the six British ships sunk during the conflict, four were sunk by bomb attack; and of the eleven ships damaged, ten were victims of bombs and strafing runs from the Argentine s Air Force and Naval Air Forces Skyhawk, Mirage and Dagger aircraft. This compares to two ships sunk by air launched Exocets. However, the circumstances that account for these numbers are the same ones that prevent the entire Argentine air forces from becoming the Argentine Center of Gravity. The Argentines paid a heavy price in bomb and strafing attacks; suffering a 41% attrition rate in attack aircraft over the course of the conflict.[iv] All of the British ships sunk by these

Hence laws are set up to protect employees from discriminations based on: national origin, religion, age, sex, race, sexual orientation, harassment, marital status, family status, disability, employer retaliation and enforcement. Definitions Of A Novice And Expert Responses Essay Throughout the paper, we will compare a novice and expert responses to certain mathematical concepts in order to recognize the different techniques they practice. We will interpret the procedures they use to make connections and to check their level of comprehension on a specific mathematical concept. An expert typically has a broad interpretation and connects their ideas to more concepts, in this case introducing graphs, definitions, formulas and physics whereas the novice will have useful knowledge about the subject without making as many connections. The expert is Mr. Thilina Shihan, a doctoral student in Physics with a Masters and Bachelors in Math and Science whereas the novice, Guillermo Vasquez is a Computer Science and Physics Major. In the clinical interview, if mathematical concepts are introduced by gradually increasing the difficulty of the questions, then the comprehension level between a novice and an expert will be significantly visible when comparing their responses. Both interviewees made different connections of the usage of differentiation within the mathematics and science world. According to Vasquez, the definition of mathematics is the manipulation of meaningless symbols according to some rules, whereas Shihan considers math to be the science of numbers (2016). This leads us to our next question, connecting math to other concepts Vasquez says that math is the base for all other sciences like physics, chemistry biology, and general (2016). Shihan

Over the centuries, two main branches of Buddhism emerged: a transmission that traveled to Southeast Asia, and a transmission that evolved in East Asia. 1. Theravada Buddhism Theravada is believed to be the oldest form of Buddhism. The term itself comes into use later, but the Theravada tradition upholds the monastic path and adheres to the oldest surviving recorded sayings of the Buddha, collectively called the Pali canon. These original texts were set down in the Pali language by monks in Sri Lanka in the first century ce. Prior to this codification, teachings had been transmitted orally, and concern arose that original texts must be preserved in light of the growing heterodoxy that was developing in India. Each one of these perfectly crafted scenes is brought into being in an exciting and thought provoking way. The desert seems to be very much the main scene in the film, with the plot focussing on this aspect of the novel. However, in the novel, the desert is by no means the most important scene; it is in fact the Villa. I personally don t seem to mind this too much and I feel that it is no injustice to the book. I also think that the desert portrays namelessness and nationlessness very well. Although the scene where they are having a Christmas lunch in the dessert is not particularly special and does not really add anything positive to the film, it does portray the theme of namelessness and nationlessness very well, as the idea of having a Christmas lunch in the desert with a man dressed in a father Christmas suit is very obscure. The scene at El Taj, where AlmГsy tries to borrow a jeep from the English is done brilliantly. It is a huge contrast to the rest of the film, as it reminds us that although there is this feeling of nationlessness and namelessness, there is still a war going on, and this comes before anything. So when AlmГ sy goes to el Taj, we are brought back to reality about how there I this war that is going on. I personally believe that should
