In religious views, the term “white privilege” does not exist. In certain bible
verses, there is scripture that speaks about equality and how people should
not have a mindset of being better than one another because of the way they
look, their gender, the color of their skin, etc. In 1 Corinthians 4:7 quotes “For
who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did
not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did
not?” In Acts 17:26 states “ And he made from one man every nation of
mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted
periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place.” In James 2:2-4, the
scripture reads “For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold
rings, in fine apparel and there should also come in a poor man in filthy
clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to
him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man “You stand
there,” or “Sit here at my footstool,” have you not shown partiality among
yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?” Giving these three
examples of verses describe how we should not judge someone for how they
look or better someone else because of who they are.

Gina Corsley, a blogger who has her Masters in Public Health, wrote this
article; who is also known as “The Feminist Breeder.” The article states the
argument: how do you explain white privileges to a white broke
man/woman. Having white skin does not prevent someone from poverty, at
all. Your citizenship, class, sexual orientation, sex, ability gender identity, is
things you are born into but it is the choice you make out of the
opportunities. Everyone is born into the life they are meant to have, poor or
rich, black or white; people may believe that they or others have a certain
privileges but in reality, it is just jealousy because you cannot simply explain
privileges to white gays, trans-individuals, homosexuals, etc.

2. Michael, who left his last name out of the news article, is a white gay graduate
student who taught in Arkansas. He never once mentioned that he was gay or
his interests to his classroom. However he did have a rainbow colored peace
sign in his room representing tolerance equals peace. Arkansas has no law on
protecting employees against discrimination based on sex orientation, but
Michael still was denied from his job. He is now filing a report to Title IX of
the U.S Education Amendment of 1973, which prohibits discrimination in
schools based on sex. Even though he is moving on to get his Master’s degree,
he lost his job because he is gay. In what privileges does Michael have? None.

Bruce Bostick, who is an activist steelworker in Ohio; addressed this article
as the term “White Privilege” is known as a racist concept. In many terms, it
is a racist situation. If the tables were turned, more people would state that it
is a racist slogan/term. The term, ‘white privilege” is not a description of
slavery. The term tells white people that they actually benefit from racism. It
has actually become a weapon to use against white people, which have been
used since slavery until present time. However not every white person had a
slave or was born into a rich family who could afford these unknown
privileges.

Civil Rights Movement, 14th Amendment, Voting Rights Act, etc. were all
brought into legal cases for equal treatment. Institutional Racism is “any
system of inequality based on race.” White Privilege is something that is
racial and can be caused by conflict. Just like the Trayvon Martin case, that
started the Black Lives Matter, what if George Zimmerman was black and
Trayvon was white? What difference would that has changed the world? Not
everyone has the same mindset as others but the situations would have not
been blown out of proportion based on raced if some people would turn their
tables around.
