Picture Analysis: Woman In White
During class this week, we were given a few photos to look at. With these
photos we had to answer several questions and make up some sort of
caption/answers with them. This assignment has been about to help my critical
thinking and to continuously have an open-mind in all situations and not just
images. The picture I am analyzing is the woman in all white and the dog in the
background driving the car. When first seeing this photo, I mainly focused on the
woman but once I studied the image, I saw how distracting she was to what was
going on in the background of the photograph. The photo is to help people with their
visual aids and notice the psychological disturbance.
The picture is a woman with large buttock dressed in all white. Whenever I
looked at the photo for the first time, I feel almost uncomfortable for both the
photographer and the women in the picture. I had a feeling of discomfort because I
visualize a man taking a picture of the woman to which I was offended. However
when you go in detail and analysis the photo you see a dog driving a taxi. The photo
was to distract the viewers of the image to see what would be seen and what would
have been studied first. Therefore I felt a feeling of embarrassment because I was
the one focusing on the woman, not the dog driving the taxi.

2. The photograph looks like it was taken in the early 2000. The two women
that are in the photo look to be dressed as an inspiration of Britney Spears. One
woman is dressed in all denim and the woman who the picture is in focus of is
dressed in all white with a waist trainer on. This style is not in trend, however from
the evidence of the photo and quality of the photograph, I can tell that it is a couple
of years old. I could always do more research on the image to see what exact time
frame the photo was taken.
The dimension of the photo is fairly well. Though, it is mainly a psychologist
joke to see what most people focus on. Within age, the photo is based on different
dimensions and how you view it. In the photo, it seems as if the day is extremely
busy. The objects that are placed in the photo show that it looks like lunchtime so
everyone is in a hurry to get back to work. Which refers to the lighting of the image.
Since the shadows are directly underneath the objects you can tell that the sun is at
its highest point therefore it is around noon.
The photo was a physiological experiment to see what age groups saw what
in the photo. Younger children tended to view the dog driving the taxi and teenagers
and adults seemed to view the lady in white. Most of the adults/teenagers did not
even realizing the dog driving the car until something was said about it. This is
because maturity levels, judgmental state of minds, etc. Which is one of the main
reasons I enjoyed doing this assignment because it made me realize that I need to be
more careful while viewing things. I have learned to observe the things that are
surrounding the image before making any type of judgment on it. It is all about
critical thinking and how you keep your mind open to such a tricky photo image.
