What Is The Inclined Top Mold?
Definition
The inclined top mold is also known as the inclined tip. It is the mechanism used to mold the
internal barbs of the product in the mold design. It is suitable for relatively simple barbs.

Structure and composition
Structure and composition of injection mold
1. Molded parts
Parts that give shape, structure, and size to the molding material are usually composed of cores
(plugs), concave mold cavities, threaded cores, and inserts.
2. Pouring system
It is a channel that leads molten plastic from the nozzle of the injection machine to the closed
mold cavity, usually composed of the main channel, the branch channel, the gate, and the cold
material well.
3. Guide parts
In order to ensure that the movable mold and the fixed mold can be accurately aligned when
they are closed, the guide parts are provided for guiding and positioning. It is composed of
guideposts and guides sleeves, and some molds are also provided with guide parts on the ejector
plate to ensure The demoulding mechanism moves smoothly and reliably.
4. Demoulding mechanism
The device for realizing the demoulding of plastic parts and the pouring system has many
structural forms. The most commonly used demolding mechanisms are ejector rod, ejector tube,
ejector plate, and pneumatic ejector. Generally, ejector rod, reset lever, slingshot and ejector rod
fixing plate, Top plate (top ring) and top plate guidepost/guide sleeve, etc.
5. Core pulling mechanism
For plastic parts with side holes or undercuts, before being ejected and demolded, they must be
pulled sideways or separated from the slider (side parting) to demold smoothly.

6. Mold temperature adjustment system
In order to meet the mold temperature requirements of the injection molding process, a mold
temperature adjustment system (such as cooling water, hot water, hot oil, and electric heating
system, etc.) is needed to adjust the mold temperature.
7. Exhaust system
In order to expel the gas in the mold cavity smoothly, an exhausted groove is often set at the
mold parting surface, and the gap between the pushrods or other moving parts (such as sliders)
of many molds can also play the role of the exhaust.
8. Other structural parts
Refers to the parts (such as fixed plate, moving/fixing template, supporting the head, supporting
plate and connecting screw, etc.) set to meet the requirements of the mold structure.
Ejector
Seven kinds of the ejection mechanism
1. Push block ejection mechanism
Flat-plate flanged plastic parts, if the mold adheres with the push plate, the push block ejection
mechanism should be used. Because the push block is an integral part of the shape cavity, it
should have higher hardness and lower surface roughness.
There are two types of reset: one is to rely on plastic pressure, and the other is to use a reset
lever.
Second, the use of molded parts ejection mechanism
Due to the relationship between the shape of the structure and the plastic used, some ejection
mechanisms such as ejector rods, ejector tubes, push plates, and push blocks should not be used.
In this case, molding inserts or female molds can be used to bring out the plastic parts. The push
block mentioned above belongs to the molding insert ejection mechanism.
3. The multi-component comprehensive ejection mechanism
It refers to synthesizing the ejection mechanisms mentioned above to achieve the purpose of
ejection. Commonly used are top rod and top plate, top tube and top plate
4. Air pressure release mechanism
The use of air pressure demolding requires the setting of compressed air passages and valves.
The processing is relatively simple, suitable for the demoulding of light, thin soft plastics.
Fifth, the inclined slide-out mechanism
When the plastic parts have inner and outer holes or undercut that are different from the mold
opening direction to prevent the plastic parts from being demolded directly, the oblique slider
demolding mechanism must be used. That is, the parts with side holes or undercuts will be made
into movable cores. When the plastic part is demoulded, the movable core is first drawn out, and
then the plastic part is ejected from the mold. The mechanism that completes the extraction and
reset of the movable core is called the core pulling mechanism.
Three basic forms of inclined slide core-pulling mechanism:
1. The direction of core pulling is perpendicular to the direction of mold opening
2. The direction of core pulling and the fixed mold are offset by a certain angle

Oblique tip design and precautions
Oblique tip design and precautions:
1. In the design of the inclined tip, the shorter direction should be taken as far as possible in the
direction of ejection.
2. When calculating the mold opening angle of the inclined tip, only take a large amount, and the
angle should not exceed 10° as the principle. In addition, it is necessary to consider that the
backward stroke of the inclined tip opening mold may lead to the deviation of the finished
product, so L should take 4/ 5H, part of the mold 4/5A, A°may exceed 10°or more, then take 10°
and protrude the thimble from the male mold surface by 0.5-1mm for positioning.
3. The top of the inclined tip generally needs to be slightly lower than the public mold by
0.05mm.
4. If there is a protrusion on the inclined tip (by the hole), the draft angle should be increased.
The angle is preferably above 3°, and it can be made up to 6°.
5. The deflection of ejection should be considered in the design of the large inclined tip, so it is
best to make the base directly above the KO hole.
6. The design of the large oblique tip should prevent the forward tilt and the swinging force that
may occur when the left and right are unevenly ejected. So it is best to set up the T-shaped
groove and the tail groove.
7. When there is a slanted tip, it is best to install EGP to prevent the lateral force component from
affecting the smooth ejection when the slanted tip moves.
8. When the head of the inclined tip is broken by the insertion, spring is added under the return
pin to protect the broken surface of the inclined tip.
9. When designing the inclined tip, pay attention to the positioning of the male side of the
finished product to prevent the finished product from being driven when the inclined tip moves.
