PDHPE stands for Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. It teaches children to live a healthy lifestyle through good food choices and exercise, build self-worth and esteem, and support intellectual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual development. Students should be doing 60 minutes of physical activity daily but spend more than 600% more time watching TV than exercising. Obesity is a major issue for Australian children, and could affect 1/3 of children by 2020 if trends continue. PDHPE covers more topics than just sports.
