There are many alternative energy resources that can be developed instead of relying solely on fossil fuels. These include wind power generated from wind turbines, solar energy from solar cells that convert sunlight to electricity or heat, and ocean wave energy that some countries are already harnessing successfully. Hydroelectric power has been used for a while but is limited by locations suitable for dams, while geothermal energy taps into heat below the earth's surface and waste gases can be converted to energy. Other alternatives include ethanol from plants, biodiesel from oils, and nuclear energy which generates a large amount of power but produces radioactive waste.
