A weblog, or blog, allows individuals to easily publish their own words, ideas, and thoughts online through blog software. There are three main types of blogs for English as a Second Language (ESL) use: 1) The tutor blog which is run by the tutor for learners, 2) The learner blog which encourages writing practice and developing a sense of ownership, and 3) The class blog which is a collaborative effort of an entire class. A learning blog is a space for people to exchange information about a subject to develop knowledge, while a class blog allows teachers and students to interact and communicate closely about class topics and materials.

Blogs are becoming an important component of the Internet landscape, providing authors and readers with an avenue for unedited expression, reaction, and connection, without the censorship of mediated chat rooms or formal media outlets. The simplicity of creating and maintaining blogs means that open discussions can be established almost immediately, making blogs an ideal venue for far-reaching discussions among the Internet community on new or timely topics. Blogs foster the growth of communities and the dynamics of collaborative filtering and recommending/referring may provide new ways to evaluate, vet, and critique student-created knowledge. Introduction
Presenting the Subject: Literacy in its simplest form can be defined as “the ability to read simple passages of printed text and sign one's name” (Levine, 2003). Yet, in the 21st century with the development of information and technology, there is a big debate if literacy can only be limited to the ability to read and write. The debate suggests that literacy should be extended to technology literacy. According to Montgomery school, technology literacy is defined as “the ability of an individual, working independently and with others, to responsibly, appropriately and effectively use technology tools to access, manage, integrate, evaluate, create and communicate information”. Conversely, we should look at how technology can increase the literacy of the individual and facilitate and support the learning process within educational setting?
The fact that the Internet has been increasingly affecting individual’s daily life, the experience of blogs has been part of it. Blogs are one of the best web tools that provide the individual’s to share their ideas and experiences in a daily basis. A blog, or as referred to a weblog, is a “Web publishing tool that allows authors to quickly and easily self-publish text, artwork, links to other blogs or Web sites, and a whole array of other content” (Glencoe, 2005). Blogs are convenient Web sites with navigation and posting features. These posting are mainly in a text form and recently other media (images, and videos) posting were supported. Blogs can be accessed publically and can include people’s comments for any posting.
Thesis: Judgment on the Subject: Teachers choose blogs as the creative form of Internet technology to employ it in their classrooms. Both students and teachers can benefit from the use of “educational blogs” as an effective and powerful tool in their learning process. Educational blogs can be efficient for students as they can be accessed at conveniently any time, in any place with an Internet-enabled computer. Therefore, we believe that using blogs in the classroom can increase student learning through extending classroom boundaries, increasing collaboration and interaction, creating space for discussion and critical thinking.

It is an online journal that an individual can continuously update with his or her own words, ideas, and thoughts through software that enables one to easily do so. Weblog entries are made by typing directly into the browser and with the click of a button are instantly published on the internet. According to the author what are the 3 types of weblogs for use in ESL? Describe them. 1.- The tutor blog: This is a type of weblog that is run by the tutor for the learners.. It has different purposes such as give daily reading in order to practice, it also promotes to students visit some English websites, it provides syllabus information. In other words it brings a more close interaction with students. 2.- The learner blog: constructing the blog may encourage the use of search engines and net surfing in English to find the appropriate sites to which links can be made. Students can get writing practice, develop a sense of ownership, and get experience with the practical, legal, and ethical issues of creating a hypertext document. In addition, whatever they write can instantly be read by anyone else and, due to the comment features of the software, further exchange of ideas is promoted. 3.- the class blog: this type of blog is a result of the collaborative effort of an entire class. What is a learning blog? it is a space where every person that wants to learn about some specific subject can interchange information about topics related to the class, websites, books, articles, material that can help to develop the knowledge. What is a class blog? A site where teachers and students can interactive each other and have a close communication about the class. They can interchange information related to the subject.
