Feedback
This stage is where we begun to get our first bit of feedback from all of
our initial ideas. These included the idea’s for the trailer, magazine
covers and posters for our teaser trailer. We created a questionnaire
for people to fill out, we gave this out to people in our class because
they understood what we was doing, the conventions and the
standards they should be up to. This then gave us some advice on
what we should improve on as a group.
Stage 1
As a group we all done our
individual initial idea’s and wrote a
story line for each one. We layed
out each one and put a few
questions on a sheet for people to
answer. We wanted to find out
which one they thought would work
best. The feedback we received
was that the most favourite one
was the supernatural one. The
feedback said that the other ones
were too predictable and people
would already be familiar with what
is going to happen because they
are too common.
Initial Idea’s
These were the sketches we did for our
idea’s for the magazine covers, we had
a few idea’s and then got feedback so
we knew which one people thought
would work best. The one that was the
most favourite was the first one. It had
everything you would see on an empire
magazine and looked the most
professional. It was very detailed and
had all the conventions to make it
stand out, it was well analysed and you
could see the characters whole body.
Magazine Covers
We all individually done a sketch for our
Posters to get feedback of what people
thought would look good and if they would
make any changes. We asked people to
write down 1,2 or 3 on a piece of paper of
which poster they liked better. Majority of
the people agreed the first one would work
best and fit in well with the teaser trailer
because its showing the two main
characters. It was seen as just a nice
simple typical teaser poster and just basic,
this is usually what a poster looks like. The
bit of feedback we got was that maybe we
could have added a release date.
We was also still struggling with captions for our film
Posters
Stage 2
These show all our edits of our first productions and the feedback we received
to help improve our final versions. This made it easier for us to decide which
poster we was going to go for by finding out which one stood out to people
the most.
Magazine Cover
After looking the empire magazine “The
Dark Knight” we came up with a new
idea for our magazine cover. We
decided to really emphasis the mask
in the picture so it links in well with the
title. We asked the audience which
one they thought fitted in better with
the magazine conventions. The
feedback we got was very positive
about both but the second one got 2
extra votes. The feedback we
received said the darkness on the
second one is better and makes the
white mask stand out a lot more and
also “world’s exclusive” gets lost in
the white mask on the first magazine
cover. We also got feedback saying
the second cover looks more horror,
but overall it looks like a more
professional cover.
Poster’s
These are the first edits of our
poster's we all created different
ones and got feedback to help
us decide which one to use for
our final version. Our feedback
helped us decide that the fourth
one fitted in the best with our
other productions. The yellow
front colour linked well with the
magazine cover, The feedback
we received said the third one
looks like they are standing on
the side of the building and is
abit too much for a poster.
After a group discussion we had we decided that our idea’s wasn’t very creative
so we decided to come up with a group idea. We looked at all our other
initial idea’s and we had a great variety so we started putting them together.
We all came up with an action thriller idea that we thought would work well
and be a lot more interesting and was one we knew we could definitely film
and get the crops for. We had the thought in our head and planned it all out
and wrote notes down and decided that was the one we was definitely going
to go for. So the feedback we received made us consider maybe we wasn’t
putting enough imagination into it
and just making it to other
ones that are all very similar
and ordinary.
Trailer idea
Storyboards
This was the idea we finally come up
with. We done the story boards
then we was struggling as a group
to come up with captions so that’s
what we asked the audience to
help us with idea’s for. We asked
them what they thought would
work well and fit in with our teaser
trailer. The Reponses we got
were; two ruthless criminals, Eyes
without a face and Death without
remorse.
Stage 3
This is the final edits that we decided on after receiving our audience
feedback. This includes out Magazine Cover, Poster and Teaser
Trailer.
Final: Magazine Cover
This Was our final version of our
magazine cover. We decided this
because our feedback. This had
the most positive feedback and the
most votes out of the two we had.
Feedback
“This magazine cover looks very professional
and glossy. The picture leaves enough space
for the writing making it clear and visual.”
Mark Farnsworth
“originally I thought this was for a horror, yet
looking at the poster and trailer I thought it was
suitable for a thriller. It looks professional and
follows all the conventions.” Faye Naylor
Final: Poster
This was the final version we
decided to go with for our
final poster. It fits in with all
the conventions and the
colour’s and fonts also link
in well with our trailer and
the magazine cover
Feedback
“The image itself is a strong image I can instantly
tell this is a thriller by the gun and by having
masked villains. However it looks like its an Action
style film ”Harry Forewood
“I like the fact it uses two girls as villains rather than
a stereotypical male leads. Its very minimal yet it
gets the idea of a thriller across.”Christie Galvin-
law
Final: Teaser Trailer
This is a screen grab from our final Teaser Trailer. We decided to go for the
action Thriller because that’s the one that got the most votes from our
target audience and had the most positive feedback.
• I loved he start of the teaser trailer and the way the shots
keep coming up throughout the trailer, that worked really
well. The camerawork throughout the trailer is very
steady and the lighting is great. My favourite bit is the
crime scene I love the way its set up and looks so
realistic. I would certainly go and see this if there was a
film made for it. Chloe Barker
• I enjoyed watching this teaser trailer, It’s really well
broken up and doesn’t get boring because there are so
many different shots at different times. I like the way its in
black and white for the past tense that really stands out
and is very clear to understand. I think there could have
been some speaking or a voiceover included instead of
just all music throughout. Other than that I think the
teaser trailer works very well for a thriller genre. Joe
Twinn
People’s Feedback
• It’s a very good teaser trailer but I did find it abit hard to
follow at first. But as it goes on it starts getting easier to
understand. It used great suspense when they are going
through the safe; as audience we are there hoping they
hurry because they are so close to getting caught. The
clothing is great, the dark clothing really makes the white
masks stand out. The flashbacks are really good it’s a great
affect to the trailer, It’s great the way you done the past
tense in black and white. Amy Holt
• Overall it was a great teaser trailer and I would definitely go
and see the film if it had one. The only bit that I noticed was
the way they are pushing the knife into the girl its looks very
unrealistic. Other than that, I think it looks like an
professional teaser trailer. It doesn’t give away too much.

Positive Negative
Analysis
Throughout our work we have been receiving positive and negative feedback.
The negative feedback that we was given throughout making our products
helped us to create the final versions we have. We agreed with some of the
comments given for our products throughout the work for example our initial
idea’s for the trailer were to common and predictable. This then made us
consider planning a new idea as a group.
The feedback we received for our final versions made us look at our work
different. We agreed with some of the comments but some of the other
comments we did not agree with and wouldn’t change. For example a part
of the feedback we received was “I like the way its in black and white for the
past tense that really stands out and is very clear to understand. I think
there could have been some speaking or a voiceover included instead of
just all music throughout.” we did not agree we have captions and a voice
over wasn’t really necessary for our trailer. Where as a bit of feedback we
did agree on was “The only bit that I noticed was the way they are pushing
the knife into the girl its looks very unrealistic.” after receiving that and
looking at it over again we could see what he meant so maybe if we did this
again we could have redone that part.
